Ash pulled back her lips in a wolfy grin and pranced a little, tail swishing back and forth. She had so much energy in this form. She wanted to run until her pads gave out, and she loved that feeling.

Y' said y'd teach me to hunt? She asked excitedly, landing and flattening her ears to her skull, crouching low in a mock show of aggression. She was eager to test herself against the unwitting prey in this forest. A secondary, though strong urge to taste fresh blood again was also whispering to her. The rabbit hadn't been enough and her Lycan side wanted more.

The corners of Evil's mouth twitched when Ash became excited. Yes, I can teach you how to hunt. First come with me to the edge of the Forest. She said, trotting off a few feet to where the forest began. Since the Ancestral Den was surrounded by a large clearing, the forest ringed it. She took a quick intake of breath and cataloged everything near them. She flicked her tail at Ash the red streaks flashing under the dimming sunlight.

Tell me what you smell. What creatures. She said, nodding towards the forest.

(Evil, are you trying to seduce people at the Halloween party?)

Kasen looked at the two talk about the thrill of hunting, now his head was clear, he remembered that we didn't eat the last hunted meal do to having things on the mind, but now the beast was ready to help this new pup gain the meal she will savor. Kasen looked at them and kneeled down as he watched them two as he waited for any sign.

Ash complacently followed along after Evil, sticking close like a silvery shadow. She stopped when Evil did, paws at the very edge of the Forest proper. She watched Evil take a breath, seeing her great black sides expand as she drew scents in. By the look in her eye, Ash assumed this was second nature to her, but the idea that each and every animal could be picked out and cataloged in one breath seemed... Well, difficult. Impossible?

Still, if Evil ordered it... She took a deep breath, trying her best to let the scents roll through her nose and differentiate themselves. The grass was easy-- sharp and pungent and all around. It matched the scents of the other living vegetation around. There was a musky, wet scent that marked the forest loam... And there was an odd, warm smell. That could be something living. She focused on that scent, feeling as though she could smell the blood pumping through the creature that was snuffling through the loam.

A... badger? Judging by the rooting and snuffling. Encouraged by this possible revelation, she took another deep breath, knowing now what to look for.

A... a fox. With her young. They're suckling. And a herd of deer. They're feeding on the tender shoots by a stream. A squirrel's rooting for an acorn, but I think he's lost it...

She looked back at Evil for approval. There was more, maybe. Some wet, cool smells that might have been frogs or some sort of reptile.

((Maybe. ninja ))

Evil's tail flicked to the side and she nodded. That was very good for your first try. There's actually a mountain lion to the east and north of us. The one to the east is eating a kill, the one to the north is bathing herself. There's a bear scratching against a dead tree about three miles to the left of us and a herd of boar rooting in the undergrowth about a mile to the right. Which would you care to try first? I'll show you how it's done, and then you can have a go.

Bear, Ash said without a second of hesitation. It was in her nature to choose the hardest path and push through it despite its apparent difficulty. The bear was the biggest animal of those mentioned, in theory one of the most powerful, and hopefully the hardest to bring down. Though she didn't mention it, she felt she had much to prove to the Pack. She wanted to show them that they hadn't adopted her for nothing, that she was strong and capable and an asset rather than a hindrance to them.

An amused look flashed across for a moment as Evil twitched her nose. All right, bear it is. Hmmm...I suppose I'll take out a mountain lion since it's fairly close to the bear. not the same animal but close. Follow behind me very quietly, so we can sneak up to it. One broken twig and it's gone. Evil said as she turned to the east, which was the left convientley and padded silently forward. years and years of doing this type of thing had made it second nature to her. She didn't really even consciously think about where she placed her paws, they just seemed to know where to go.

As she neared where the mountain lion was, by now already eaten its kill, she began to slow down, her belly getting lower to the forest floor. Her tail was stuck straight out behind her as she creeped forward, her eyes alight in the darkening evening. She came to a thick screen of bushes and crouched behind them, flicking her tail at Ash.

Now, watch me carefully. She said silently in her mind.

Ash flattened her ears to her skull, copying Evil's low stance. Belly almost brushing the forest loam, she stole up next to her Alpha, careful to place her paws just so. Beyond a soft rustle of leaves, she was able to successfully avoid making sharp sounds that would alert Evil's prey to their presence.

The scent of mountain lion was in her nose and she could sense the strong pulse of blood beneath its pelt. The image of sinking her sharp teeth into the arteries and veins of the big cat's neck was making her throat dry and scratchy. She desperately wanted blood to wet her tongue, but she held back as per Evil's orders. She had to learn to hunt before she could even think about taking anything down.

She bobbed her head in assent, keeping it lower than Evil's out of respect, but her eyes fairly gleamed in anticipation.

Evil lifted one paw into the air, poised and ready. She waited for just the right moment. Evil and Ash were downwind of the Mountain Lion, so it couldn't smell them. It had begun to clean itself and it was facing away from them, it's head lowered to get at its hind paws. As soon as it was distracted, Evil sprung. She landed square on it's back, her weight causing it to topple over even as she fiercely clamped her jaws onto the back of ti's spine. She didn't really want to play games with one, like she had before. Instead she clamped her powerful jaws shut, hearing the satisfying crunch of bone as she cut through fur, fat, and muscle with her sharp canines, severing the spinal cord.

The whole attack had lasted about 20 seconds. The Puma went limp, dead. She gave it's head another brief shake, feeling the warm blood of the kill slid over her tongue and drip onto her muzzle. She dropped the kill and straightened, her eyes still alight with the thrill of the hunt. She licked her chops and turned to Ash, her breath a little ragged from the excitement.

That's how you kill a Puma. She said.

Kasen stayed behind looking around as if he was hunting his own prey looking for the one thing he was searching himself. "The scent, is it here?" He thought as he tried to find a particular animal that wouldn't normally be found in this area, but possibly could. The animal he was looking for was found in small groups and was said to be a group of animals that was a pack of preys that rivaled with wolves.

Kasen kept his nose in the air, wet from his own anatomy and we smelling the air for a scent of a certain creature, his paws on the ground with the lower body high in the air, his tail wagging in excitement as he tried to find any trace. He moved up from his spot and found something, as if a lightning bolt had struck, he was now zipping through the forest looking for the prey that would help him if his knowledge of animal biology and anatomy was correct.

Ash padded into the clearing where Evil now stood over the dead puma, muzzle dripping with fresh blood. She was definitely impressed by Evil's grace and efficiency in dispatching the big cat and she tried to remember all of the Alpha's techniques. Going for the spinal cord made sense. Landing on the back, even more so. Even with a bear-- Ash's intended prey-- it would be difficult for her target to reach around and fetch her any sort of blow.

She knew bears were powerful and had the advantage of rearing back on two legs. One swipe of their paws might find her with a shattered spinal column. Pumas, on the other hand, posed a danger with their speed. That was likely why Evil had chosen to stalk and pounce rather than run it down.

Well, color me very impressed, Ash produced a wolfy grin, but there was definitely something feral in the gesture. Her blood was up: she wanted to hunt. But would y' use the same tactic on a bear?

Kasen was on his own looking for the prey that would help him, also known as the animal with one of the most powerful jaws. Kasen smelt the air to find the unknown of his prey, using not skills of a beast, but of a hunter to find the prey to seek a creature with the most biting power. "Where is the hyena?" Kasen was seeking the hyena, the most powerful jaw-based land animal which was said to roam around the werewolf forest.

Kasen sniffed behind a tree when the sign would tell him right now, the cackle of a hyena's laugh. Running quickly, he jumped on the creature's back as it was too close for him not to see, and was about to be killed. Kasen struck the neck and pierced the lungs in front with his claws to paralyze and slowly destroy the animal. Rather than just eating his prey, he grabbed it and started walking back to his spot.

((ROFL That's an interesting animal to pick. Especially since this is a typical forest and not a Savannah. XDD ))

Evil's tail twitched at the tip. I would recommend going directly for the throat. The back of the neck would be tougher to get through. You'd have to dodge the paws but if you got around those it would be easy to cut its windpipe. She replied. She figured that the fight with the bear wouldn't take that long, so she'd leave the Mountain Lion kill here for now.

Now, you scent out the bear near here and start to hunt. She said.

Ash remembered Evil mentioning a bear some three miles to the west of their current position. She lifted her nose to the air, inhaling deeply to catch the scent she was after. Amid the various animal musks, she caught a heavy scent. It was mingled with the scent of tree sap and bark. Evil had said the bear was scratching against a tree, so these entwined scents made all the more sense.

With a glance back at Evil, she padded off in that direction, picking a roundabout path through the undergrowth, following an old deer run that would drop them just slightly south of the bear. That would place them downwind. All Ash had to do was stay quiet and hidden until she saw her opportunity to strike. So far as Evil had said-- and what Ash herself had mostly assumed-- she'd have to go for the throat. She knew instinctively that her jaws were capable of crushing the animal's windpipe, but she also recognized the danger of the bear's claws that, with a single swipe, could break her back.

She crept towards the bear's location, belly low to the earth as Evil's had been, tail straight out behind her. A silent snarl pulled at her lips, but the only sound that could be heard was the bear's own snuffling. As luck would have it, it turned in their direction, rooting for something or other around the roots of a tree.

Now? Ash asked Evil, eyes glinting as she watched the bear stretch out its neck, fairly begging her to clamp down upon it.

((Ugh. Horrible one liner. Sorry. >.< ))

Evil twitched her whiskers, looking amused. Don't ask me. This is your hunt now. She responded, silent and still.
