Callista toppled to the ground and looked at Valzar. "What's wrong?" She was up in an instant and making her way back over to Valzar.

Callista shrunk back, confused with his sudden change in behavior. "Valzar?" She was frightened and merged her mind with his. Valzar, talk to me. What's going on?

Callista broke the merge instantly. She was putting distance between her and Valzar, fear etched on her face. "Valzar...you're scaring me..."

Callista felt the unease and began to weave a safeguard. She moved in front of him so that he could watch her, hopefully to pick up on the one she had taught him.
