Meredith was not quite as intolerant as Veroen and somewhat understood the boy's reasons for possibly being frightened of the vampire. "I'm figuring you know that he's a big ol' scary vampire and that vampires are real and not just fairytales just like ghosts apparently aren't but you don't have to worry, John. He was maybe throwing a temper tantrum and defiled someone's grave but he's really a nice guy, a lot nicer than a lot of alive people out there. He's dead like you, kind of, he's still conscious and whatnot and can see things but he drinks blood and can't go out in sunlight and he's solid. He's not that scary if you give him a nice big smooch." She smiled and gave Veroen a quick kiss on the cheek before turning around to try and rouse the kid.
'I ... I think I was dismembered by one, actually ... He had white hair and he looked pretty young, maybe nineteen or twenty ...'
Eden sighed at the boy's claim and wished the boy knew more but the fact he said 'I think' really didn't sound very promising to her. "It's okay, though, really. I know this is going to sound weird but you already know and think I'm weird so here goes nothing, he's my boyfriend. He's actually really sweet, too if you get to know him. He's an assassin but he has a heart he forgot he had until fairly recently and it's really fun talking to you and pretending like he's not right here behind me probably staring at me and judging me for talking to little child ghosts. It goes to show how much of a life I have, kid. Oh yeah, his name's Veroen if you want to say hi." She smiled.
'H-hi ...' The teenager then looked over to Eden, eyebrow raised, 'He's your boyfriend and he doesn't eat you or rip you to shreds?'

Veroen couldn't help but smile a little when Meredith kissed him on the cheek. He gave out a sigh, and punched the ground really hard once more, leaving a rather large indention in the ground. He stood up and clapped his hands together slightly, brushing off the dirt. NOW he was finished. He then sat next to Meredith, and leaned up against the tombstone with a sigh. He looked at the boy, and rose up his hand, and leaned it to the side, a slight wave at the boy. He looked at the boy, his gaze now expressionless, trying to calm down a bit. He then rumaged through his pockets and pulled out a pack of cigarettes, and lit one up quickly, and exhaled the smoke with a sigh of stress.
He then leaned his head back up against the tombstone.

Eden smiled as she saw the hint of a smile form on Veroen's face and when he took a seat on the ground beside her she leaned against him as she watched John with a content smile. She placed a quick kiss on his neck and then turned to talk to the kid again. "No he doesn't, John, just tree stumps and grave stones as you saw right on back there. Or were you watching that? Maybe that's what woke you up and that's why we can see you and it's all Veroen's fault." She nudged him playfully though it was after he'd lit his cigarette up so that she didn't end up burning them both.
John stared at the cigs longingly as though he was craving one and Edith took notice of this and raised her eyebrow and looked at him with an odd expression on her face. "Don't tell me ghosts have cravings for nicotine. That's just absolutely ridiculous, you're dead, you don't have any addictions anymore, kid."
'If I could I would go for one ... It's kind of just habit ... I liked 'em.'

Veroen raise his eyebrow at the kid after he heard those words. It was the exact same for Veroen. He was not exactly alive, and had no need to breathe nor did he have blood. Itwas was just habit, and he liked to think that stress was being relieved when he lit one up. He looked over at Meredith with a playful smile, and nudged her back.

Valkyrie Demon Veroen raise his eyebrow at the kid after he heard those words. It was the exact same for Veroen. He was not exactly alive, and had no need to breathe nor did he have blood. Itwas was just habit, and he liked to think that stress was being relieved when he lit one up. He looked over at Meredith with a playful smile, and nudged her back.
The huntress yawned and stretched her arms above her head and leaned against Veroen again after he nudged her back and closed her eyes. Truth was that she was absolutely exhausted and beat from all the excitement and all the moving around and everything that'd happened. It was more emotionally draining than anything but she was starting to feel a tiny bit of the weight this kid was starting to gain and it was only going to get worse. She nuzzled Veroen before squirming around for a moment to make herself comfortable and settling against his arm to close her eyes.
John watched the woman and then looked at Veroen with a shrug and didn't really bother to say anything.

Veroen looked back at the boy with an expression that said, "I dunno either, kid." as Merediths eyes closed. It was hard to talk through expressions nowadays because of his eyepatch. He glanced over, and looked at Meredith as she seemed to be falling asleep. To be honest, Vampires never slept. It was impossible. They just went inot a sort of meditation, so to speak, to make time go by faster. He looked back at the boy, and said, "Well I'd giva ya a smoke if you could hold it or inhale it."

John rolled his eyes and held his hands up and went to punch the ground like Veroen had moments before and actually fell into the ground and disappeared for a moment and shrieked with much disgrace. He casually rose from out of the ground, brushing himself off habitually as if nothing had happened, trying to play it cool, a frown on his face that stated 'if you make fun of me I swear I'll kill you'. 'Thanks but as you can see I go through things so I can't hold them or hit them or anything. I kicked her but she didn't feel a thing. I do it for fun, kick people that come here and mourn everyone else, it's funny because they don't see me. Then she came along and you and her can apparently see me. It's the first time this has happened. It's weird and awkward. She wasn't even scared, either.'

Veroen looked at him, and said "Well kid you aren't exactly the scariest thing i've seen..."

John shrugged and looked somewhat irritated by the comment since it wasn't exactly meant to be a compliment, not that he really tried to come off as frightening. 'Yeah well ... She's weird and you're ... a vampire. Is she crazy? She just fell asleep with you and you suck people's blood to sustain yourself. If you ask me that's just downright stupid.'

Veroen narrowed his eye, and stared the ghost kid down. "Look kid, not all of us are bad. Some of us are good. Only less than a handful, but some of us are actually good at heart." He said, looking off to the right, thinking about the events that just happened. He was extremely infuriated at alasdair for throwing him away just like that. Veroen knew that Alasdair was a powerful Vampire, and at the same time, Veroen was not one to underestimate. Veroen would kill him if Alasdair did that. He was also foolish to think that the connection to the Void was from him.
He gave out a strong huff of a sigh, and angered built up again. He would kill Alasdair if it came to that. None had been able to accomplish this before, but Veroen knew the man well. Knew his style, and knew that alasdair had weaknesses.
Veroen looked over at Eden, and thought about it for a moment. He knew that alasdair would eventually come after her in the end. Veroen would tolerate no threats like that. He would have to confront Alasdair soon to rid himself of this threat.
He looked at the smooth beautiful face of the girl he loved, and gently used a finger to move a few strands of hair from covering her face. He let out a gentle smile, and continued to loose himself in thought.

Layna walked solemnly into the graveyard, the scent of Meredith and Veroen were here, so she knew they were near. She didn't know how long it had been since she had last been here. Ceon's death, being with her first beloved Zarathos? She wasn't sure. Time seemed at a standstill in her eyes, and yet people aged, and knowledge was lost and gained.
She continued walking though the desolate stone maze, until she heard voices, two of which she knew, and a third which she had no idea about. Who was it?
She walked toward the voices, and noticed something she never thought would have existed. Yet... Vampires and Lycans and Demons were not supposed to exist, yet they did. Why not ghosts?
"Is everything alright, Veroen? Meredith?" She said softly, not wanting to startle them or even appear threatening. She was definitely not a threatening person.

Veroen silently nodded, and motioned at Meredith who was fast asleep, leaning her head on his left shoulder. "She fell asleep. Can't find it in me to wake her up." He said softly, glancing over at her for a second. He looked at Layna, and then asked, "Everything all right with you?" in a concerned type of manner.

Layna nodded. "Yes. But it has been overwhelming. I've just returned to the city, and yet, the same things are happening. This is why I left in the first place. This is not a safe place to raise children. There's just too much feuding." She murmured quietly, sighing. "Both Gabriel and Maria were better off when I took them away. I did not shelter them, but I did keep them safe. This world is cold, and violent." She shook here head and settled on the ground, her back against a tombstone with writing that had faded from centuries of weather.
"I really did think things would be better, but I was wrong, wasn't I?"

Veroen's expression turned into that of a grim one. "Indeed, unfortunately you are right. This city has gone to hell. Literally. I'm glad you left Gabriel and your other child behind. They will be safer that way..." He said, remembering Gabriels pure childlike face of when he was a baby. That could have possibly been what started the change for Veroen. He still remembered that day, when Ceon was killed, by Daiguren. He swore to make Daiguren pay for what he did that day.
He stopped himself before he fell deeper into thought. He looked back to Layna, and asked, "So what made you decide to come back here, of all places?"

At his question, she shrugged. "I'm not sure. Something drew me back here. Something is going to happen, and it's not going to be good." She shook her head, resigned for a moment. "But I'm here, back here now. And something is going to happen." She muttered. She stared up at the sky, dark and cloudy. Maybe it would rain...
She lowered her eyes and looked over toward Meredith. "That child will be born into a world where somebody will try and kill it. Everyday more of our children and our elders die. We're losing out, and we feel it." She muttered, remembering what the elders who were caring for her had said. "Things are changing, and we need to change with them, or vanish." She said solemnly.
