You should search for literate and advanced. Often, people interpret 'literate' as meaning 'can read' while ignoring its other meanings and contextual implications.

Also: Level 5 is supposed to announce the release date for Dark Cloud 3 this year.

I searched for 'Elite Roleplaying' and came up with only...two guilds or so that are at our level >> *sigh~*

Wii Post:

Id settle for being able to play White Knight Story first. I'm sad that Dark Cloud 3 looks to be a PS3 exclusive

Edit: Landa that makes me sad because my POWER LEVEL as it were is definitely not over 9000

Okay.

Well.

I was seeing if I could find our guild on the listings, so I searched. "Literate Roleplaying". Nothing. "Literate Roleplay". Nothing. That's when I realized that our name is the "Literate Role Players Association". The Role and Play are seperate.

Perhaps we should change the name to "Literate Roleplayers Association"?

xd I'm more fond of the balls, and apparently their inert nature at that point in time. Makes for a funny video.

Oh, and join Puzzle Pirates, because it's addicting and doing so will give me game currency, which I desperately need.

*totally not whoring at all*

FFXIII is not going to be PS3 exclusive.

Sony's new console is doomed.

Well I knew that much, but it remains to be see exactly what Square intends of FFXIII. The news surrounding the game is confusing and ambiguous at best, and Xbox 360 "crowd" as it were tends to veer away from RPGs. Case in point, Enchanted Arms, and Phantasy Star Universe, the only real RPGs the console has to speak of (It has Oblivion and FFXI as well, but the PC availability and preferability of those games kind of negates their presence, although Oblivion did sell well) while both being relatively good games (Enchanted Arms moreso than Phantasy Star) have seen unimpressive and weak responses from 360 gamers.

Then there's the hot button issue of FF returning to Nintendo, but the Wii's control scheme can act as a double edged sword, even though the Wii-mote is perfectly well equipped to handle ordinary control schemes. Given what we know, the Wii actually sounds like a more reasonable port, partly because of the pre-established fanbase waiting for them to come home, and partly because the type of buyer that has a Wii seems more prone to like FFXIII than an X360 buyer.

.....Bleh

For my next rant I'll have: How the industry needs to hurry it's a** up and push digital distribution and cut lousy brick and mortar moneytraps like EBGames out of the goddamn loop. EB does nothing but hurt the industry with their upscale pawn shops and I dont think Id enjoy anything more than seeing them vanish. =P

It's pretty much guaranteed that FFXIII is going to appear on the Wii. I mean, they announced one of their FFXIII games was going to be for a mobile console (probably PSP) but that's old news and this is new news. As for the control scheme thing, I doubt that they'll screw it up. I mean, it's not like they're Ubisoft. SquareEnix throws a lot of money at their Final Fantasy series. I doubt they'll pull a Red Steel. Hell, Super Paper Mario used the controller fantastically and they barely used it at all. Not all games have to be as involved as, say, Cooking Mama: Cook Off.

Places like EB will always exist. While I'm sure it could easily be possible to buy games from the producers, the presence of places like EB helps the less investigative game buyers to know when and what games are out. If EB vanished, Best Buy would just become the new EB, except with other technology junk too.

I completely disagree that EBGames will always be around. If Tower Records can go out of business, you can bet your a** that EBGames is no less vulnerable to digital distribution. I understand that there will always be a used game market and I certainly dont mind the existence of such a market, but EB's hawkish tactics of pushing ONLY used content and making obscene profit margins that do nothing to benefit the industry as a whole. Every sale made in an EB shop effectively drives up the cost of developing a game, so while in the short term buying used from EB might seem a valid solution, I'd much rather be able to buy the same game new and digitally for 40 dollars instead of 60.

Digital distribution is cheaper, more effective, and guarantees better customer support. Game publishers everywhere flush unbelievable sums of money down the toilet offering support to games they didnt see a cent worth of profit on the sale of, and the only response is to make games more expensive. Case in point, I bought Gunstar Heroes for eight dollars from Nintendo. Comes with a lovely digital manual, and you are actually guaranteed a fresh download if the one on your Wii becomes corrupt. You know what EBGames response was? They don't even carry Gunstar Heroes or buy Gunstar Heroes carts off people (not even the GBA version) any more because they're unwilling to compete with the cheaper, better version available digitally.

Again it's not so much that EB sells used games that bothers me, its the fact that their entire business model revolves around stocking as little new content as is feasible, and essentially acting as a gold coated pawn shop peddling used wares. This wouldn't be so bad if it didn't spell out higher overall game prices (which drives USED prices up which just means more profit margin for EB), but when digital distribution ends up being a much better choice for the end user, then EB isn't going to get any love from me.

EB might not always be around, but, like I said, places like it will. Once we see improvements in digital distribution, such as a boost to internet infrastructure, things will change for EB, but that mom and pop shop that trades will stick around until the internet becomes the only way to get games.

I mean, we need to get to where we can reasonably handle patch downloads first...

And Im not opposed to mom and pop used game trade shops, Im opposed to it being the entire business model for EB's empire. The percentage of their sales which actually manages to find its way back to the gaming industry is roughly akin to the amount of actual fruit juice in your favorite juice drink. As for the infrastructure, the infrastructure will come when we push digital distribution. Its funny that mankind tends to invent things that it wants and/or needs, and if we push the digital solution, the associated infrastructure will invariably improve.

And it's really not that bad as it stands right now. It took me about 2 and a half hours to download Burning Crusade, and it would take me a half hour trip to the store wherein I would probably waste half an hour, and another half an hour trip back to get it from the nearest electronics store. I know this isn't the case for everyone, but it's still very much viable.
