Pity paper is such a scarce resource and no one has learnt how to recycle used paper. You could use that, writing on paper would be faster, especialy since there are questions to be asked.
Daemon commented, even though Gion was right, he did have one way to communicate which was better than nothing.

Gion nodded inwardly. Or ... I could try to use thought transference, like we do, he realized suddenly. Through touch only, though, of course. I had forgotten about that.
He made a face. Though I would really prefer to use sign language.

Which isn't a choice at the moment.
Daemon reminded him.
But I'm sure we can stick around here for a while, like you said it's not like we're in a rush.

Exactly.
Gion raised his eyes as they came out of the vineyard to see that the plantation, unlike the last time he had been here with Triton and Elnara, was a flurry of activity. There were dozens of elves running around, and Gion looked at each and every one of them, learning a little bit about each one based on the colour of their auras.
One in particular caught his eye, a tall, lean fellow with a slight hunch and a black aura.
What do you think of that one, Daemon? he asked, eyes narrowing slightly as he focused on that particular elf to show Daemon.

Nadya strode out of the vineyard, head high, eyes glowing and focused (for once). Putting one hand on the small of Gion's back to lead him forward, her gaze never wavered as she headed purposefully towards the Big House.
Once Gion was washed and rested, she knew, he would be more open for talk.

Black is not generally a very kind colour to those who have it. It could be darkness, depression, sickness.... but it can also represent the senusal, and creative power, becuase black is all colours mixed into one.
He paused studying the lean fellow, elves weren't generally bad people, perhaps.
Maybe sickness? Or something to reflect the fact he's hunched a bit...

Gion shrugged inwardly. Maybe, he thought guardedly.
He was rather curious, though, to know first of all why the man had a black aura, one Gion had never seen before, and why it drew his attention so closely.
Maybe it was the elf's eyes. They seemed ... shifty.

Daemon was sorry he couldn't be much more help than that, though he too was curious. Black was a rare colour to have he was sure among the elves, more common to the dark auras of demons and people who practiced strong dark magicks or had the connection to the night, but even then....
Black is not necessarily bad, though it's unusual, back home those that were aligned with darkness at least had some colour to their auras, like dark purples and reds are pretty common among them.

Gion shrugged mentally again. Well, if we're here for a while, I'm sure we'll find out, he thought to Daemon. But I guess I really can't judge until I get to know him a bit, right? After all, auras may be good indicators, but they don't really tell you anything specific.

Nadya led Gion into the house. At this time of day, the house was empty, and there was no one about. Well, others would come later. For the moment ... Gion had requested a bath.
"Why don't you rest here," she suggested, stopping in the livingroom and facing him. "I'll draw you a bath, and we can talk later, perhaps."
Talk of course being a relative term. She wondered briefly how awkward things might be later on. She of course knew very little sign language - only a few of the most common signs. Ah well, she would find out.

True, they're only useful for heads up really, and I wish I could explain further, but also what I do is a lot of instinct. It's just something that you develop after always seeing things... school helped too, but magic school gave me a headache... too many colours.
Daemon murmured, wondering how all his old teachers were doing? Granted some of them probably passed away except for the ones that tend to grow very old.

Gion nodded gratefully to Nadya and took a seat on the couch, looking around the room.
So many memories here, he thought wistfully. Then, returning to the topic at hand, he replied to Daemon: How many years did it take you to start getting instincts about the auras? I mean, I've been seeing them for nearly five years now ... do you think that I might be feeling an instinct about that fellow? Some reason for me to feel wary of him?

It's quite possible that is why you are wary, even before I mentioned it's meanings. What colours you see also to a certain extent depend on you as well after all.
Daemon paused before thinking about Gion's first question.
I don't know... I mean.. I was around six when I.. well began to see things. I didn't notice until people began to take me seriously.

I just have a bad feeling about the guy, Gion shrugged. He lay back on the couch, getting comfortable.
But as he thought about Daemon's words, he became curious. Do you mean to say that I might see people with different auras than how you might see them if you were looking at them with your own eyes? he asked.

To an extent... it depends what I'm looking for, like I think when you see auras generally, you look for purpose... intent. Me... because of the amount of races and ones that look human, auras have always been a race thing. When I first could see auras I could tell apart the immortals from the mortals. Things like that.
Daemon also added as an after thought.
Evenually I got around to intent, which is what I try to look for first, but you still need instinct because all colours of duality. Like if I see white and have a shiver go down my spine, I generally take that as a bad sign. Funny, it use to be black and the shiver, but I hung around Yume for a long, long time.
