Jewel of Antares So....A person could catch or otherwise bond with a Pokémon if they come across one? I only ask because I was in a crossover role play awhile ago (two, actually) where I played Sophie with a Riolu. Arianna sort of made me curious. xp I AM SO JEALOUS!!!! I wanted Pokémon X/Y for Christmas but I got a bunch of stupid art stuff instead. crying Editted this post. There were annoying errors. :/ It's something I'd love to allow! surprised It just needs some thinking through, taking into account how many people might wanna do this too. I mean, the Pokémon themselves are going to count as their own little minor characters (that'll only really need a snippet of a profile---basically just their name, personality, and list of known moves), so I think there may need to be a limit on how many a non-trainer character can bond with.
What would your plans be with Sophie, then? Gonna do the same and have her bond with a Riolu, or add maybe a couple more?
And lemme guess, no one really knew what to get you, huh? ; I'm in the same boat---I only got mine for Christmas because I straight-up mentioned I wanted it. Otherwise I would only be getting clothes.

That's true, though that sort of makes Pokémon OCs with six (or, in Arianna's case, seven) seem like gods. sweatdrop Originally, her entire team consisted of Riolu, Pidgey, Vulpix, Pikachu (unable to evolve), Farfetch'd, and Teddiursa--and, later their evolved forms. But, Riolu, Vulpix, and Pikachu were the only ones I really wanted for her. But, seeing as Riolu was always her number one, I don't mind having her only be paired with him. She and Riolu/Lucario have very similar fighting styles, which is why I chose him as her default. heart Oh, I said the only thing I wanted for Christmas was Pokémon X or Y, but I still got art stuff. burning_eyes

I really want to make it fair for everyone who wants to do this and let even non-trainer characters get as much as a full team---perhaps even one more since I let Arianna have a team of seven. And even let her have two more Pokémon traveling with her in addition to those seven, though they're not going to fight at all.
But when you think about it, that's practically up to six little characters traveling along with your main character, with their own little personalities and therefore unique reactions to situations. Even though your character would be the focus, that still makes for quite a crowd if you'll have them join other people. Furthermore, non-trainer characters would not have the convenience of Pokéballs to hide them away if trying to manage responses for them all starts becoming a overwhelming.
That's why if I do bring in a trainer OC, she'll be a minor character traveling on her own because she and her Pokémon are a full party as is.
By the way, I take it the other RPs you have Sophie in are Pokémon AUs?
And I see. That's...kinda inconsiderate... sweatdrop

Trainers spend their entire childhoods hoping to have a Pokémon; many often learn ahead of time how to care for a Pokémon. Only one of the Sophie's was an AU in the PokéVerse. The other was sort of like Zeal, only set in the Pokémon world. They never finished, though....People got caught up in real life stuff. Me being one of them.... Yes. Very inconsiderate. They spent two hundred bucks on art stuff when all I wanted was a fourteen dollar game from Wal-Mart. That sounded ironic. xd I wasn't exactly being selfish this year. We're not rich. :/

Ahh, I see. I was wondering because if they weren't, how did it make sense for characters not native to the PokéVerse to get into the swing of building teams...?
WOW WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL. M-my cheapskate side is rather appalled... You say outright that you want something that's obviously much cheaper but they go and do that?! What kind of art stuff is this anyway?!

As a person who only intends on having one if the idea is allowed, I think two is a very reasonable limit for non-trainers. emotion_c8 I'm not sure how the non-AU came about having random people suddenly appear. I think it was Arceus, but that's just my speculation. The AU Sophie was perfect~! My first AU canon. emotion_kirakira Premium stuff. Canvas, watercolor paper, an easel, and a quality art kit. I appreciate it since I got nothing last year, but it's all going to go to waste. I lost my passion for art a long time ago. emotion_sweatdrop

Azura Cantarella LIIIIIIIIIIIFE!!! Curses! I've been found out! *dives behind nearby bush* Anyway, as for the Pokémon, that could be tricky. One or two sounds like a decent limit, and they probably wouldn't be able to command them as easily since they'd be busy fighting themselves (as in they would be fighting, not that they would be fighting against themselves). You could just say that some Pokéballs and trainers came over too, or maybe allow alternative companions (monsters, summonable creatures, etc.) if someone wants something like that. For example, Emil can befriend monsters and Gilgamesh has his old buddy Enkidu.

For example, Emil can befriend monsters and Gilgamesh has his old buddy Enkidu. That makes no sense. Not just anyone can control monsters or summon creatures. As far that goes, I gathered you need a special skill. The people in Auj Oule [SPOILER!] have beastcraft, and Emil only got that power because of Ratatosk. I won't vouch for Gilgamesh since I don't even know who he is.

Sirea Angelie And probably people like Arietta the Wild. ninja Also a valid point. It would mostly depend on their native setting, I think. On a less relevant note, do you guys think that bringing in "the Kid" from Bastion and having posts be written as if spoken by the game's awesome narrator would be too gimmicky?
