I will once I figure out what the price should be. My first instinct says it should be that jack-o-lantern head thing, Jack's Joy, but I don't have one on hand at the moment, and that thing's really expensive.

Perhaps charging for entry would be better and then the pot will be the prize?

So now the other three houses need an event. I suggested to the Heads that they get ideas from their members

The prize shouldn't be that big because the lotto is holding the main prizes. Perhaps something a bit smaller? Something affordable between 2-4K

I'll ask my eagles what they would like. It probably won't be a story contest, though; last time that was tried, it sort of flopped. Badly. sweatdrop

For the pumpkin bomb idea, could always just charge say... 200 golders to enter (or less), then add it all into a pot and split it 50/50. That way the winner makes some dough (unless only 2 people enter) and can give the rest to Adonis to cover future prizes etc. etc.

It also lets the winner use it for whatever they want, as opposed to something they may never use or need. Of course, an object might appreciate in value over time, so perhaps an item is the way to go.

I was thinking for Fright Week of making a thread dedicated to Supersitions. You know, people share their horror stories or superstitions and stuff they hear from all over the world just for fun.

My other idea is about making some kind of mystery roleplay like Clue. Where I make up a mystery story setting (HP-related) and we make up a story as we go along. But I don't think it would do so well.

What do you guys think?

Out of curiosity, is there a trivia thing? whee

I really like the 50/50 idea. I'll donate an october letter as well (or I have an extra pair of grunny slippers that I think I might be able to part with), if you'd like, so that people get something good even if only a few people get tickets... It just sounded like a really good idea to raise money for Adonis and future events.

I also like the superstitions idea, or else maybe we could share ghost stories from our neighborhoods.

There is goign to be a thread for general Halloween talking. I think that's the thread that will be saved (hosted by the elves!) The Haunted Kitchens!

That's a good idea. It's always nice to keep the proceeds flowing so it doesn't always fall on the mods' pockets.
Right now Adonis' goldworth is 39K give or take a few hundred.

Angil told me it would be okay if I made an idea for a XMas event. I suggested (as an idea) a masque and the thread where I posted it (our RG thread) everyone fell in love with it so I don't htink I'll be changing the idea unless someone wants to change.
@KT: Not really. It's a few roleplay things and some games... Ravenclaw hasn't thought of anything yet. We usually do trivia a lot though. It's Fright Week we're playing in which every House will be hosting a mini thread contest/event/game. The elves get to host the main thread. There will also be a lotto. I think that's it.

Anyway we are preparing the final Quidditch game (trivia) right now. It'll be one between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff since they haven't palyed at all. DDA left without giving any links or posting the games so it fell on us to decide what to do with Quidditch. It was decided that the most fair thing to do would be to give R and H their one game instead of a group of 5 people trying to make and plan 4 new Quidditch matches in two weeks.

(Genie! <3 )

I like your ideas. I really like the Clue one though because it falls in with the darkness of Halloween. I don't know.

What kind of things link to Halloween (other than ghosts)? Pumpkins, spiders, I dunno.

The more I think about the Clue mystery roleplay, the more I like it. Just waiting on what Angil thinks now.

I was also thinking about what to correlate with Halloween and thought about Skeletons, (obviously) Witches, Bubbling Cauldrons, Goblins, Candy Corn...yet I can't think of anything else sweatdrop

I like the 50/50 idea for the Jack-o-Lantern game, so I'm gonna start making a thread in the White Tomb for that now. I don't have access to Adonis to recieve those entry fees though so I dunno if you guys want me to handle the gold until the game is over and I trade to him, or let you guys handle that or what?

Mmk for fright week we onley have one week of planning. And then we have to start the event, so we got to get things together farely quickly. Fright week it'self I won't actually be around but I will on the last day of it (Halloween) get online take care of closing everything after midnight, as well as doing the end of term stuff.

Juni, I love the pumpkin tossing idea but if you do it there's only a week to play so maybve choose a smaller number? I think you should have access to Adonis now but untill we get things cleared up handle the money yourself and do it in a trade and we'll try our hardest to figure out what's going on by next term.

Miss Love Tentei: I don't get what you're saying but it sounds like fun and it it fits in a thread then I can archive it onto the main thread and it won't be a problem. Slytherin's event is a thread in which we're going to roleplay going to the shrieking shak but if you're idea is more planned we can do that instead and I have lots of backup.

Alutian, um. It defeats the purpose if Ravenclaw doesn't have a special event so...maybe think of something? It doesn't have to be big...you could host a costume contest...cause no one's done that yet and it's halloween so there really should be one.

Icee...Yes we're keeping the main thread as the House Elf Party thread. But it's going to be made by Adonis first posting 2 or 3 full pages of posts.
The first page we put contest details on and set up like a normal thread, the second or third pages will contain "archives" of the thread we delete...like short roleplays hosted by houses and such...not sure if that all makes sense...but I'll set it up as well if you like.

Hmm, can't go too small since it might end the game too quick, but if we get enough people... I guess moving down to 10 could do it? And then people who roll 10s make splodey. That or lower the 20 roll to 15-20.

My bitchin' suggestion of awesomeness:

Could roll an 1dx where x is the number of current entrants in any given round. Lowest number after every round goes boom, with a 1 being a critical failure resulting in the entrant automatically going boom and the next round beginning. That likens the chance of 1 boom every round.

For example (just in case nobody follows) Jimmy, Todd, Jane, and Hermione are entering... so we roll an 1d4. Jimmy rolls a 3, Todd rolls a 3 and Jane rolls a 1. Jane goes boom, and Hermione gets a free pass to the next round. For fairness sake, we flip the turn order every round, so Hermione will roll, then Todd, then Jimmy. Because Jane is sploded all over Hogwarts, we roll an 1d3. Hermione rolls a 2, Todd rolls a 2, and Jimmy rolls a 3. Here you should make a decision... is it a dud pumpkin and round 2 starts over (everyone re-rolling an 1d3), or do you enter sudden death where Todd and Hermione continue to roll until one of them is blown up with Jimmy getting a free pass to round 3? I prefer option 2 myself, but I digress.

This method ensures a faster paced game that adapts to the amount of players... more players means a higher dice roll, which means a lower chance of going splodey... which is realistic in comparison to an 1d20 which offers everyone the same chance of booming, no matter if 1000 people or 2 people are passing around a single pumpkin bomb.

-additional- perhaps give members no more than a day to roll (or maybe roll for them automagically after 6 hours? <-- keeps game more fast paced) that way, since there will be a specific turn order, we won't be waiting 3 days for someone to come online to take their turn. Of course, if you take this route (or for that matter any of what I suggested) it should be clearly outlined in the thread BEFORE the game starts...
