You'll never expect what you can't see...

Dark looked down as the question of the future was raised. He hadn't ever given it too much thought. Maybe because most of his life, he only dwelled on the past - on what had happened...

'"Besides...chicks dig scars..."'

Dark looked back to him, and then to the side, again making sure to hide his face in the cloth. "Hn, could'a fooled me." There was an awkward silence between the two men for a moment, before Dark spoke again. "Hey...Graff?" There was another short pause before he continued. "May I confide in you?" It was strange - this conversation - the future. Dark seemed not to be acting himself; yet, he wasn't acting like his curse was taking over again.

Graff looked suspiciously at Dark "... we dont know each other that well, but if you want to tell me something I assure you that I will keep my mouth shut... so feel free to talk..."

"Ahh right.." Shin-lu nodded as she remembered combatants needed to be given breaks. She sat back down, taking out a whetstone and began to work on her blades a bit, despite the rubber enchantment keeping them sharp anyway. Shin-lu just wanted to give it some extra shine.

Ilyana milled about mindlessly in stands. Moving up, moving down, side to side, grabbed a snack, milled some more. She was getting bored.

((It's alright, not much has happened. I too wanted to apologize, however, it appears we are still waiting on WMK, so I can't make up too much for having us wait.))

Par'il made it to the field and bowed to Siom. Siom smiled and mimicked the gesture. The two men then turned to wait for the last contestant of their match to join the field.

Dark stumbled over his words for a moment, not wishing to get too detailed with his past. "You... ask me about the future. Th- the truth is... I never had, not more than a week anyways. My whole life has been planned out based on the past- of what had already happened. But it was recently learned that my plans - my whole basis - were not what should be done. I have no idea what I should do now. How does one, who no longer has a path in life, continue onward?" The entire time, Dark didn't make eye contact; he was still uncertain if he should be talking to Graff about this.

Graff scratch his chin "... intresting question... you are like one guy back at home, you see he and I hated each other, I hated him because he was nearly perfect, trained more than I, learned faster than I, the master also liked him better than I, then one day he got a message from home. The guy went to his room and stayed, what?, a week or two I believe inside, didnt come out to eat, train, he just stayed there. At last the master send me to check him, he opened the door, he looked like a undead, his eyes red from crying, so I asked him "what happened?", he then started to talk, he told me that he was training to avenge his father death, a warlord had murdered him when he was a child, so he swore revenge, he trained harder and harder to kill that guy, the message that he got?, the warlord had died, he choked with a piece of meat..., so the poor guy had no reason to go on... he just trained to kill that guy, not to be a better fighter or become a master of his own style... he had nothing... not even revenge..."

Dark listened as Graff wove his tale. He turned to hear Graff better. "So... what happened to him? Anything?" Dark quickly became curious as to how this narrative would end.

"He started to drink... he throw himself to the vice, drugs, alcohol... he lost everything, some years later I saw him... in an alley begging for a few coins to keep drinking... I should approached him... talk with him, but I didnt have anything to say, and you know what is the worst part?"

Dark remained unmoving. "What?" Despite not showing it, this story was actually bringing him fear of how his life would turn out.

As the contestants approached the field, the sunlight spilled over the horizon. The massive arena stood strong in its prowess - its shadow engulfing the three western longhouses. The woods, once noisy with the sounds of the night, stood quiet as the creatures of day hadn't yet woken from slumber and those of night fell asleep. A thin plum of smoke rose from the forest to the south, presumably from the elven village, but it seemed strangely close now. A calm northbound wind blew across the grounds. For those with the a strong sense of smell, there was a hint of roasted vegetables. Miran had finally perched on the top of the arena, waiting for his master. The bushes in the north rustled then fell calm for a moment. A single Koukuna Bunny hopped out from hiding. Its head darted left and right before lifting up into the air. The nose twitched rapidly before continuing to a nearby tree and disappearing from sight. Again the grass and leaves rippled in the breeze.

((Sorry for not posting in a long time, I've been so busy lately!))

Isaac turned his gaze towards his daughter. "Dos xunus al xuil dosst ouhyll wun lil streeatul. Usstan uil ves vhaid del dos." he said in elvish, smiling proudly. Kayla looked up at her father's face with a small smile. "Bel'la dos ilharn." she replied. Then they both turned their attention back to the arena as Isabelle preched herself on Kayla's lap. Kayla gently stroked Isabelle's back as she watched the two warriors down below while they waited for the third opponent.

((Translation: Isaac: "You did well with your match in the arena. I am very proud of you."
Kayla: "Thank you father."))

"And this is the worst part, you see... he did have many things to do, back at home as the warlord died without an heir, his men started fighting each other, his family, father, mother, sisters, brothers, all they suffered through the war, he could have helped, he could have stopped the war, but the poor guy was so... foucused in getting revenge that he couldnt think what to do if his goal had gone, forgive me if Im too rash, I dont know you that well I could be mistaken, but... I think you are a bit like that guy..."

You'll never expect what you can't see...

In his mind, Dark began to question it himself. His eyes fell away from Graff and he didn't speak immediately. When he finally did, his answer wasn't too reassuring. Looking down, he said, "... I don't have a home." He really had little to nothing to return to at this point, besides the band of thieves he left at the human village two and a half days to the west. But could he really return... and be as ruthless as he once was after all that has happened?...

Ilyana had wandered outside of the arena. Shin-lu decided to go do some stretching, but Ilyana had no desire for such. Food was once again on her mind. But then her nose caught whiff of something. A whiff most would miss, but the ravenous girl didn't. she moved to the forest where she could smell the food, gliding across the ground almost like a ghost.

You'll never expect what you can't see...

A glowing light flickered brightly in the forest. Above the dancing embers, sat 3 full kabobs of assorted vegetables and one stick that held a single fish. An elf was resting along a branches above a campfire. His left leg hung off the branch on the side closest to the fire. He quickly sat forward as the braking of fallen twigs and the rustling of bushes caught his ears. He allowed his eyes to focus on the hazy backdrop of leaves, trying to find the source of the sounds.

Ilyana's white, pale body broke the shadow and greenery as she came to the campsite. Her mouth watered at the sight of the fish and vegatables and she walked forward and took hold of the stick with the fish, not thinking anything of it. She raised it to her mouth took a bite.

You'll never expect what you can't see...

A dagger came flying down into the leaves beside the woman. A rope quickly slid from under the pile. A loop would quickly find its way around the woman's ankle and leave her hanging upside down if she didn't react quickly.
