Wild Mage random effects screwed me over more often then not.
Hey! We're fighting a freakin' giant! Let's not do the Wild Magic eff-- *spray of pretty colors that does jack s**t*
GIANT: RAWR! *squishes the Wild Mage with a single critical hit*
Well, that went well...
But yeah. Blades were great, mainly because of the spins, I think. I never got heavy into dual/multi-classing, but I do remember rolling a nice Thief/Mage in Baldur's Gate. I could've solo'd with him, probably.
Though that final fight with Sarevok does get pretty hairy. I watched my friend beat him in less than like, six or seven turns though...

ValenarrDeMirro I mean, you can't benefit from your bard song unless you're not doing anything else, and the spells they get in either of those games are not nearly as potent as any pure caster. That first part is untrue, at least in pen-and-paper. Bard songs last three rounds after the bard stops performing, more with some feat. I abuse this a lot by taking the silent song feat (or whatever it's called) and playing the same bard song continuously until we get into a random encounter. Then I have a song up already and can juggle through various other songs getting back just in time to refresh the one that's about to run out. In dungeons, this doesn't work as well because bardic music uses are limited per day, but random encounters are almost always one-a-day so yeah. Bards don't really get their strength from their spells though. The spells are secondary in the same way that ranger spells are secondary. Bards get their strength from everyone else. The more people on their side, the more powerful they become. This is especially why the static diplomacy DC is hilariously overpowered in the hands of a bard. Nothing like convincing everyone to oppose the one guy you don't like, then stacking Melody + Harmony and hilariously boosting the effects of your songs with Words of Creation (No limit to use, by the way) Seriously, the only downside to Words of Creation is (necessary minimal perform ranks)d4 in subdual damage. WOOOO. I mean, all of that is fine and balanced with a group of three or four others, but that's just dumb if you've got an army of named NPCs on your side. That, among other things, is why you ignore the hell out of static DCs for diplomacy.

Well, I can't say I've played Bard much more than a couple of minutes on the first Baldur's Gate, and only using Haer'Daleis or whatever his name was on BGII.
I'm a simplistic player, so I don't really bother looking at stuff like that.
Though you guys are making me wanna go back and play the hells out of them ><

The spells that the bards got in 2E were powerful. Actually, the spin that I used for the greater part of the game was Defenisive Spin as you can easily null the root effect. Improved Haste gave me a nice nine attacks per round and Tenser's Transformation gave me an amazing (for 2E) 300 health. With the spin my armor was at around -24. Also, their songs could be played any number of times per day, and that Improved Bard Song ability really made it kick some a**. There is a cheese with it that you just make a bunch of clones and have all of them play the song... it stacks. There is a bug with a Wild Mage which sets your surge chance to 5%, removes delay time between spells and lets you cast spells without limit.
I loved dualclassing. It kicked so much a**. Much better than multiclassing.

What bothers me most about the static Diplomacy check is that it's been a problem since well...forever, and I am a long way from the first person to bring it up. They're hesitant to put any reasonable rule structure in place because "Diplomacy" is probably the most RP dependent skill that can have serious influence in the game, so putting a system in place seems like it might discourage that.
The fact is, all you need is a bonus modifier, and the persuasion to roleplay and do it well will always be there. A well defined rule system is desperately needed for an element so integral to the game as talking.
To my knowledge Baldur's Gate II had a system in place for it, but I don't know the specifics, since I don't think Bards could easymode their way through the game past level 11.

Though convincing Irenicus to join your team would be total hax.

Although, originally it was intended that he'd help you fight against Amelissan.

Try the Ascension mod. It was made by one of the Black Isle programmers with all intended but scrapped features.
I just got me the Fallout collection. I love it to pieces.

I just thought the story (as I remember it) behind Irenicus was really cool.
Bodhi was a skank.
Oh, and that one hidden lich boss or whatever was a pain, too.

Aggravation. I decide to hold off on trying to get a Wii and, of course, now that I'm looking around, the only website I knew of where I could get upcoming wii shipment info doesn't do this anymore. On the bright side, Nintendo's Fiscal Year just started now, so with luck, it should be easier to find one.

Completely off topic...but are there any RP's that are in a good position to write in an extra player? (ie. me) I've got time now.

Dunno, Kozo.
Seems like most if not all of the RPs here are dead... mostly my fault, I think, but meh. It happens. I'm a busy person. Not as busy now that I don't have WoW (stupid computer dying ><), but still pretty busy.
Most of the RPing I do now is over AIM <_<

<<お菓ッの>>
*looks up*
A roleplay that's not mine, but has apparently been abandoned by everyone save me, and two other people.
A storyline comes to mind for one here... Meh.
