Quote:

Appearance description:
She has light brown wings that she cant hide no matter what she tries.

Personality:
Melody is easily irritated, and doesnt liked to be bugged for no reason. And, if she doesnt know you to well she will put on her 'shell' and hide her true personality from that person until she gets to know that person better. Though once you get to know her better she isnt quite as irritable, and snippy. She can actually be quite cuddly when she is happy.

Bio:
Melody has grown up in a Pixie Hallow(And no i dont mean like Tinker Bell!) all her life, and has never seen any other kind of species besides Pixies... That is until she got to Rosentale. When she was a baby her mother gave her a pendant necklace that is a music box that puts an image in the air of the Hallow she grew up in. She hasnt taken it off since then, and doesnt plan on doingf so in the near futurte no mater how ugly, or weird people may think it is.

Skills and Abilities:
Like most Pixies she can sing, dance, and play the flute. She can also, use her wings to flutter though she doesnt have much skill when it comes to flying. Being around small bodies of water weaken her to the point where she is sluggish, and tired but she absolutly cannot go near large bodies of water or she will generaly have the energy "sapped" out of her, or in other words she wouldnt evern have enough energy to walk. When sh e uses her magic she mainly uses it for moving objects, and enchanting plants to a small extent.

Character Flaws:
~ She has the bad habit of chewing her nails until she starts to bleed under her finger nails.
~ She has anger issues, and just about everything can set her off.
~ She is very clutzy and will trip over air if given the chance.
~ She gets real paranoid at times and will start to freak out if to many people are arounder when she gets this way.

Here are the issues I still have.

Her appearance is missing critical information. How TALL is she for example? Most people imagine pixies being 4-9 inches tall. Is she normal sized? I'm assuming yes, since she can't fly.

Her biography is kind of lacking critical information. Basically it's summed up as "She grew up in a pixie hollow, then heard about Rosentale. And she has a special necklace."

Why is she so angry and paranoid? Such personality traits usually relate back to past trauma but we know nothing about her past. It may not seem important, but in my experience, Rin, when people slap down flaws just to meet the guild quota of three real flaws--those flaws are often not ingrained in the character and they never show up in the RP. That's really frustrating for the people who try to ensure we have good characters in the guild.

So before I approve your character, I'd like you flesh out her bio and try to find flaws that suit the history you've given her so you can be sure they come up frequently. (Also, clumsiness doesn't count as a flaw. I have never seen a single person mention clumsiness outside their first post. Ever. D= It's one of those flaws people instantly forget about and it never comes up until they want attention. Her nail biting is kind of a borderline flaw but I'm going to let it pass as a real flaw because I know our other RPers will remember to bring it up when they see her scrubby, bloody nails.

Also, two more questions regarding her powers:

How large are the objects she can move around? There should probably be some kind of size limit.

What are plant enchantments like? Like...how does she enchant them?

Just want to know what we can expect from her. ^_^

Sorry if I seem harsh. I just want to encourage good character building because so many times, I've seen these characters that lack proper development and they tend to not do so well in the RP due to inconsistency with their personalities. I want to make sure you can jump right in and have fun! So quote me with your reply!

Leo grew up in the research centre, he had little contact with the outside world, and didn't have much people contact. Leo had 2 head reasearchers that acted as his mother and father, they were his mother and father figures.

The reasearchers always feed Leo little candy treats, so always has a small bag of the candies on him.

RP Example:

A young male strutted through the new school. Leo had a small bag of strawberry candies in the pocket of his jeans. The dark haired boy was whistling as he walked. Leo had a 4 leaf clover pinned to his shirt, so he could insure good luck for him through out the day. He had many thoughts rushing through his head. Was he going to fit in at this school? Would he make friends to keep him company? Would he succeed with his school studies? Leo didn't know, he just had to wait and see what fate brought to him.

((Hope thats enough RP sample))

Red--

First and foremost, I want to say that I am going to make an executive decision and say that you cannot have another character until you get the three you have a little more established in the RP. Monica is no where near settled in--you do post for her when you have the chance but she doesnt' really know anyone yet. Susan and Rose have been around much longer and even they don't have close friends or people they regularly interact with. Susan is probably your most established character and I feel like she's only settled in very recently. Rose and Monica still feel brand new.

I really think that before putting a fourth character in the RP, the three you have need to get a little more settled--especially Rose and Monica.

I don't know how long that is going to take but they definitely are not there yet. We've just had so many people create 4-5 characters that never do anything but lurk. Then the guild ends up with dozens and dozens of characters, but only 10-15 ever actually do anything. We like to try to avoid having that happen if we can. And that means ensuring that people are using their existing characters beyond just posting for them once or twice, occasionally.

I also want to point that if/when it gets to the point that you can insert a new character, Leo is going to need a lot of work before we would accept him.

First, we like to avoid so blatantly ripping off existing media like the Avatar series so calling his power "water bending" is a little much. And Leo would not be able to have the level of control over water that water benders in the series have--that would simply not fly in Rosen. You would need to detail specifically what he could do with the water he's controlling, and it wouldn't be able to be as diverse as what they could do in the series (slicing, healing, moving it around, hitting people, etc. It would need to be more limited).

Being superstitious and being "addicted" to strawberry candies--these are not flaws. Lots of people have some level of superstitious behavior so unless this is crippling superstition, it doesn't count as a flaw. The candy addiction is just a silly quirk. Sarcasm would only be a flaw if he's *frequently* offending people. Not just 'sometimes' offending them on accident. So you would need to give him some better, more realistic flaws.

Things you are willing to actually RP him as having in the roleplay and would remember to make a permanent, obvious part of his character--not just little traits that are easily pushed aside and forgotten.

His bio is also really lacking. How did he end up at Rosentale if he was always stuck in a lab? Why were they researching on him in the first place? We are pretty lax about this kind of stuff in Rosen but at the same time, we do like enough information that we don't get any dramatic surprises during the course of the RP. ^_^

Anyway, for the time being I recommend focusing on RPing your three girls and getting them more involved and having them get to know some people a little better so they establish a group of friends and acquaintances instead of drifting around on their own as they mostly tend to do.

Then we can talk about adding in a new character, okay?

Okay, that sounds good, I'll get the other 3 more settled into the guild first, I will work on Leo a bit offline, then maybe in a few weeks, or whenever the 3 girls are settled in I will post in Leo =)

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated

Character Information:
Student

RPer Username: StrawberryZ0mbie

Name: Peter Whitney

Species: Wizard/Human

Age: 18ish (doesn't age any more and lost count at some point)

Gender: Male

Appearance description: Slightly shaggy black hair and gray eyes. Peter is about 5’10 and very skinny due to being somewhat malnourished. He’s, quite frankly, a weakling. An extreme weakling. You could knock him over with a ping pong ball. Wears the same clothes every day because, well, he kind of has to. If he's not smirking like he knows something you don't, then he typically looks bored.

Personality:Peter is very matter of fact about his powers. He doesn’t angst over them or mope about them though they’re a constant annoyance (try eating soup with a spoon that falls apart in your hands). He accepts what he is and just tries to live--not that it's difficult. Dying seems to be the hard part for him. People tend to irritate him simply because most people take their blessings for granted while Peter has learned to appreciate even the most simple of things. He is a bit cynical and stand offish though this mostly because he doesn't want to hurt people. He does not get close to people because until now, he’s constantly on the move and because he’s learned the prospect of the reward for his capture has always been too great for most people to ignore. Snarky and smart mouthed, there isn't a whole lot that Peter cares about other than where his next meal is coming from. He doesn't consider the consequences of his actions because for the most part, he just doesn't care.

His biggest regret is that he’ll be eternally a virgin.

Bio:
Peter was born in a back alley in the late 1600s, to an unmarried fishwife in Ireland. His birth was long, arduous and his mother did not survive. Then again, neither did Peter. Strangled by his own umbilical cord, his life was cut tragically short, just like that of his teenaged mother. Both corpses were found a short time after the birth, still warm, by an older man who was a practitioner of alchemy and dark sorcery. Unable to pass up the chance of being able to use an untainted vessel for his magic experiments, the man took the baby back to his laboratory.

He had long been working to find the secret to eternal life and eternal youth. Using the combined efforts of magic and science to toy with the flow of time and the body's natural abilities to heal and rejuvenate itself, the old wizard eventually was able to revive the baby, creating a being infused with magic that would keep him alive indefinitely. However, the conflicting magics created an unforeseen side effect. Peter's body destroyed everything it came into contact with. As if it was speeding up the aging of everything that touched it, metal would rust and crumble to dust, wood would rot and fall to piece. Even Humans would dry up and age, developing liver spots, bruises and even open sores if they maintained contact for too long.

In spite of this, the boy proved difficult, if not impossible, to kill. Not only were weapons in effective due to how quickly they would fall apart when they touched him, but his body proved capable of healing from nearly every injury within seconds. Even what should have been mortal injuries, he was able to brush off as if they were little more than a paper cut.

The problem was that otherwise, he was walking death. The first thing that happened when Peter was reborn a few days after his death, was that he unconsciously destroyed the old wizard's laboratory and nearly the wizard as well. The first thing the wizard did after this event was try to subdue Peter's innate destructive powers, finally devising a way to partially suppress Peter's power. Using an alchemic seal as the base, the wizard--over the course of several years since he couldn't work for more than a few minutes at a time--tattooed a large seal onto Peter's back with an ink made mostly of mercury and silver. These two metals are resistant to magic and had proved impervious to Peter's power. The tattoo on his back did not fully suppress his power, but it made things more manageable for the wizard.

Eventually, he crafted other wards for Peter to wear to keep his power manageable. He has two metal pins in each shoulder and wears a collar, as well as rings on both hands and feet, made of mercury and silver. His "father" also was able to craft magic clothing able to withstand his magic and not fall apart just from touching him (he went naked for about the first six years of his life).

In the end, even with all the measures taken to suppress his power, Peter was unable to live anything remotely similar to a normal life. Chairs break within a few minutes of him sitting in them, forks fall apart in his hands, glass shatters if he even grazes it. And anyone who touches him risks personal injury for their efforts. When his father passed away--no doubt, in part, due to his proximity to Peter, the boy was left on his own, to fend for himself.

In no time, he was labeled a criminal. Having to steal to live gave the boy a somewhat bleak outlook on life. Malnourished an underfed, he survived on the streets for a few years before the first time someone thought a little boy on his own was an easy target. A drunk nobleman thought he could take Peter home and do as he pleased with him but the incident left him dead in a gutter and Peter on the run as a murderer. A few more accidents over the years and by the time Peter was in his mid teens, he was seen as a dangerous criminal that needed to be caught at all costs. In fact, he was caught and executed multiple times--he was burned at the stake for witchcraft, drowned, and hanged more than once. And every time, within a few hours, he was alive again.

Eventually the ones that wanted him dead devised a way to keep him dead...somewhat. The last time he was captured, his body was hacked into pieces and stored in an assortment of silver caskets, then buried in a secret location to keep him from coming back.

Unfortunately....even that didn't quite work out as hoped. His body was found and mostly pieced together by someone unknown. Eventually, the only thing left to be attached, was the head. And his body just sat there...waiting for someone to find it.

Skills and Abilities: Entropy: Peter quite literally destroys everything he touches and causes it to break down and wear out within minutes—or hours if he’s really lucky. This is an innate ability that cannot be controlled by Peter except to focus and make it stronger (to, say, disintegrate your entire house instead of just one wall). He cannot turn this ability off nor will it to be weaker. Entropy works slower on natural organics like trees and a bit faster on organics that have been processed (wooden furniture, natural cloth like cotton) but works rapidly on in-organics like metal and stone. Glass and plastic just fall apart instantly. The more fragile something is naturally, the quicker it will fall apart when he touches this.

People are no exception. Touching Peter makes a person age more rapidly. At first, it would simply be isolated to the part actually touching him, but prolonged contact would cause the affliction to spread. Skin would dry out and age, bones would grow brittle, bruises would appear, open sores and eventually the tissue would rot just like on a corpse. If contact is long enough, or on a large enough portion of the body (for instance, if he was hugging someone) it would result in organ failure and death. This ability is not just skin to skin—it goes through clothing but not walls and such. Of course, it's easy to avoid--just don't touch him.

Immortality: Peter apparently cannot be killed. He can most definitely be injured. He can be significantly injured. It's just that he heals quickly enough so even mortal injuries are…somewhat less than mortal. He can’t regenerate lost limbs or the like but he has survived being hanged, being drowned and burned at the stake. Even after he’s ‘dead,’ he eventually wakes, heals and walks away. He does not age normally either.

If removed, Peter's limbs actually still retain their regenerating ability but their entropy is cut down to almost nothing. In other words, while a normal limb would wither and rot, Peter's would heal and remain completely viable. If the wounds on the limb and the stump were reopened and he was sewn back together, the limb would heal over time and he would be able to use it again. If his head is removed, he is unable to stay conscious or talk to people. His body can't be able to walk around on its own or anything. But he wouldn't really be dead and could fully revive if the head and body were reattached.

Character Flaws:
Thief - Peter has little respect for the property of other people. He had to get by on stealing for years and saw that most people aren't especially charitable so he treats people the same way he was treated. With no respect.

Cynical - An eternal pessimist, Peter expects the worst from every person and every situation.

Smart mouthed and rude - He doesn't particularly care if he hurts your feelings. If he thinks you're an idiot (and he probably does) he'll say it.

Apathetic - He just...doesn't care. About anyone or anything. Not that he's a bad person but it's hard to care when you know no matter what it is, you'll destroy it the moment you touch it, or it'll eventually whither on its own and you'll always be around to out survive it.

Sexual Orientation: Straight but he'd take what he could get
Status: Single

Likes: (at least 3)
-Food
-Soft beds
-charity
-birds

Dislikes: (at least 3)
-sleeping in the rain
-sleeping in trees
-sleeping in the snow
-being hanged, burned, drowned, stabbed, shot, etc.
-having his body cut apart and sewn back together.
-Most people he meets
-squirrels

RP Example: =P

Extra Information: Peter's jewelry is made from silver and mercury--while mercury has toxic effects for normal people, for Peter, it merely suppresses his powers to a somewhat manageable state. Both metals are resistant to his abilities.

Peter spent years trying to find a way to completely suppress at least his entropic abilities, to no avail. He's entirely given up looking and has just accepted that his life will always be this way.

Hey! Cool character. =3 I'm going to need you to make a few changes before I can accept.

First off, only one of those flaws is a true flaw. The others are limitations to her powers and things that are completely normal for her species. It would be a little like me saying that it's flaw that I have to sleep or get sick when exposed to viruses and bacteria. That's something true for all Humans and it's remotely a flaw. It's part of being what I am. So remember that limitations to her powers or traits of her race can't count as flaws. You'll need to come up with two more. For the record, we don't accept "shy" "naive" "timid" "clumsy" or anything along those lines, nor do we accept things like "can't cook"or inability to do anything that isn't a normal skill anyway. ^_^

Also, she's really a touch over powered. She can move fast, making it difficult to hit her. She can teleport, which could make it impossible to hit her. She heals quickly so even if you do hit her, it doesn't matter AND on top of that, she has enhanced hearing and smell which makes it impossible to even sneak up on her.

I feel that to make her more balanced you would need to remove the teleportation and limit her speed to short bursts that tire her out rapidly. And ensure life threatening injuries take days to heal, not minutes. This isn't really a combat based RP so there's no reason for her to be extremely powerful anyway.

The few super overpowered characters we do have tend to be used more as gag characters than serious characters so their powers are played up as comedy and we keep them out of conflicts. Since this is a serious character, she needs to be less powerful so she doesn't instantly have the upper hand in any conflicts that might arise. ^_^ Just quote me when you've made the changes.

Thanks for pointing that out. sweatdrop Is this alright?

Unfortunately, her flaws are still power limitations. Think of flaws as something like a negative personality trait or habit that would make other people maybe not like her. Or might make it difficult to interact. Things like:

having a violent temper
mumbling
being loud or obnoxious
being clingy
being perverted
being grouchy
being moody
over sensitive/easily offended

They're not things that make your character cute (like being shy or clumsy) and they're not things that would never really come up in the RP (like not being able to cook). These are distinct, unique problems with your character that blend with their personality and are a part of who they are.

If you're having trouble coming up with things then please feel free to check out our thread on character flaws:

http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=22665113

Just remember that flaws need to work WITH the character's personality. You can't say a character is shy and then list something like 'loud and hyper' or "bad temper" as a flaw because shyness implies that a person is quiet and doesn't like to draw attention to themselves and that they tend to be something of a push over. So neither of those flaws would work with a shy personality. Flaws stem from the personality--they don't contradict it.

Hope that helps!

You're fine. A lot of people have issues with the flaws because they're not used to having to put them in. You still have only two flaws though. We require at least three.

- Low physical strength and stamina (too much study and no exercise, lol)
- Lack of control during her speed boosts.

These are physical limitations and not really flaws. Remember, the flaws that we want are going to be about her personality and habits and not her physical capabilities. ^_^
