Train nearly jumped and shouted for joy when she saw Onix’s body lock up. Damn was that a close call! ”Oddish, one more Absorb! Give it all you’ve got and try to end this!” Train shouted, and Oddish either agreed with her or just felt like listening again, as within a few seconds she was preparing another Absorb attack. She was still feeling pretty weak and she very much liked the feeling of having her health restored, and so happily sapped her opponent’s health.

Leon could see Petalburg Woods in the distance, but it didn’t look all that far away. He didn’t keep a particular eye out for wild Pokémon, as he knew there’d be plenty of them in the forest at least. Still, it seemed that wild Pokémon liked to keep an eye out for trainers, as soon a Zigzagoon was blocking his path.

Leon paused and pulled out Muuma’s PokéBall, pressing the button in the middle and releasing the Ghost-type Pokémon. He was only mildly more cautious after his loss against the trainer from the day before, especially since he was using a Pokémon he knew was much stronger than any wild Pokémon he’d run into here. ”Psywave,” He commanded coolly, to which Muuma complied immediately, releasing the multi-coloured rings at the Zigzagoon. The Tinyracoon Pokémon managed to clamber to it’s feet, however, and ignorantly dove at Muuma via a Tackle attack, passing right through her. ”Again.” This time the Zigzagoon just couldn’t make it back up, and collapsed right where he stood. Leon let Muuma stay out of her ball for now and continued on his way, hoping to reach Petalburg Woods quickly.

Onix was unable to move, unable to do anything at all, and could only stand there as Oddish hit him with another Absorb. "Try and move Onix, don't give in yet!" His health drained and it was more than he could handle, this was it. Onix tried to fight and regain movement, and he could feel his body limber up a bit, but it was no use anymore. With one final cry Onix was out, no longer able to keep fighting. Brock lowered his head a bit, but smiled as he heard the judge make his call.

"Onix is unable to battle! The winner of this gym challenge is the challenger Train!"

Recalling Onix to his pokeball Brock stepped forward, mindful of the large holes Onix had made in his gym floor. In the Judge brought over a small box and handed it to him, which he in turn opened up once he approached Train. "Here you are young trainer, proof of your victory at the Pewter City Gym." Holding out the box for her to take, the topmost item was a shining grey round badge that looked like it had multiple sides. "This is the Boulder Badge, and you've earned it, as well as the prize money. Though I must warn you, if you don't quickly collect more badges and train with your pokemon more, sooner or later they will all start to disobey you again. Also in there a TM, a gift from me to you as a new trainer. This is TM 39, it contains Rock Tomb, a move that traps pokemon and can reduce their speed, but I'm sure you already know that. Remember that TMs can only be used once before breaking, so use it wisely. Well, think that's about it Train, good luck on your journey."

Keegan shrugged, the explanation sounding quite probable to him, even though he knew that it wasn't exactly what had happened, though when Kasiya mentioned the reporter he couldn't help but wonder how the blonde couldn't even recognize her own sister. "I changed my mind," he said simply, following her into the cafeteria. The lack of people inside was somewhat surprising, and oddly enough the few people that were seated weren't eating anything. He got himself a coffee and the two of them picked out an empty table, which clearly wasn't a difficult task, and they sat down to enjoy their beverages. He was glad to discover that the coffee was quite good, and he stared down into the dark liquid, watching the reflection of the light above them dancing on the surface. Even though he was sure that Mai was somewhere on board he still had no tangible proof, and that alone made it a difficult subject to bring up. He looked across the table at Kasiya, deciding then that right now it would be best to focus on her and her feelings rather than obsess over Mai. "But yeah, I'm fine now," he said, sipping his coffee. "What about you? How have you been holding up? Have you, uh... heard anything from Mike recently?" He was hesitant to bring up the subject of his former best friend, but as much as he hated to admit it, a part of him was just as as concerned for Mike as Kasiya was. That, and there was a very good chance that Kasiya would be one of the first people Mike would contact if any semblance of sanity remained within him. "Anything at all?"

Meanwhile, Pan and his lovely female companion where still on the lam, so to speak, though once the sun had risen, it was easy for him to see that Treecko was starting to miss her trainer. He reassured her that he'd reunite them once they'd grabbed some breakfast, and luckily the two gecko Pokemon had raided the kitchen long before the Ambipom and Snorlax had gotten a chance too. After they had eaten, Pan took Treecko by the hand and the two were off to find their respective trainers.
=====
Again, Miharu wasn't surprised to see another Thunderpunch headed Starrie's way, though this time she didn't see an easy way out of it. They'd gotten lucky the first time, and Miharu wasn't one to rely on luck. The Starmie's known attacks raced through her mind, and again, one seemed to stand out to her. "Starrie, use Flash and get out of there," she commanded sharply. Okay, so again she'd be trying her luck, but if she wanted any chance of being able to actually attack Hitmonchan without being pummeled by Thunderpunch, she'd have to try and disrupt him.

Starrie seemed to agree with Miharu's choice of commands and it turned to that the large, red gem in its center was facing Hitmonchan. The gem began to shine, the brightness growing at a rapid pace until it created a blinding burst of light, and then the Starmie attempted to retreat, hoping the Flash would serve as a good enough distraction.

The Flash of light was quite bright and discernible, even in the middle of the day, and Hitmonchan let out a cry as he was temporarily blinded as a result. The Punching Pokemon staggered back, rubbing his eyes as the electrical charge dissipated from his fist. Once again Chuck was impressed by the girl's tactics, but he wasn't about to give up just yet. "Hitmonchan, Pursuit," the Gym Leader said quietly, though he realized that his Pokemon would now have difficulty striking their opponent.

Hitmonchan rubbed at his eyes once more before he chased after the Starmie, a dark aura spreading out from his fists as he attempted to strike the target, though the little white dots he kept seeing made it very, very difficult.

A smile tugged at the corner of her lips, and spread across her face as the realty that she’d won sunk it. ”Yes!” She exclaimed, jumping and punching the air with her right fist. ”You did it Oddish we won!” She said excitedly, collapsing to her knees and beckoning the Pokémon to her. Oddish regarded her with caution, make no attempt to walk over to Train. ”It’s okay,” The teenager giggled, holding out her hands a bit further. Oddish crept towards her, and when she was close enough Train pet her lightly with one hand.

She glanced over at Brock and saw him making his way around the destruction of the field and recalled Oddish, returning to her feet and picking her way through the rubble of the gym’s battlefield. She stared at the badge in the box and picked it up carefully, examining it before shifting her gaze and small smile to Brock. When he mentioned her Pokémon disobeying her, she felt her face get a little hot from embarrassment.
”Yes, I know…” She muttered, lightly taking the TM from the box. Pikachu scrambled up her pant leg and up onto her shoulder, causing the girl to jump—she’d nearly forgotten about him! Oops. He leaned forward to examine the TM and badge she was holding, which she held up for him to get a better view of.

”Thank you, Brock!” She said to the gym leader, giving him a small wave with her free hand before picking her way back through the broken field to exit the gym.

Train’s first order of business was to get Oddish and Raticate to the Pokémon Center, and so that was where she headed immediately after exiting the Pewter City gym. She stood impatiently in the short line and practically shoved the two PokéBalls into Nurse Joy’s arms when it was finally her turn. ”Worried?” The nurse said lightly, taking the PokéBalls. ”Don’t worry, we’ll have them healed it no time.” Train nodded and stepped back to let the next person up, setting herself down in a chair as she waited.

+=+=+=+

It wasn’t long before the entrance to the woods was in his sight, though there was still a bit of distance to cover before they actually arrived at it. He glanced around him, quite bored at this point. He spotted a rustle in the grass nearby, and a Wurmple poked its head out. Leon pulled Ghos’ PokéBall out from one of the six pockets sewn into his coat and released the Ghost-type. ”Lick.” Ghos peered at the bug Pokémon in front of him and floated down to it, sticking out his tongue and licking it with such force that it was knocked backwards and let out a small cry. It squirmed for a minute before managing to get back to its feet, before nearly falling over again in fright, coming face to face with a smiling Ghos.

It wasn’t that long before Train had her Pokémon back, and once she had them she asked Nurse Joy if there were any rooms available at the time. Much to her delight, there were, and she happily took a key and headed back to where said rooms were. She went into the bathroom and washed up, changed into pajamas. It had begun to grow dark outside, and she walked over to the window to pull the shade shut. She set her bag next to the bed and switched on the light on the nightstand, then proceeding to shut off the main light and collapse onto the bed. Pikachu curled up on the free pillow and soon both of them were asleep.

---
Train slept in well past sunrise, and when she finally awoke Pikachu was already awake and poking through her bag.
”Hey!” Train said groggily, shifting herself into a sitting position and picking up Pikachu. ”Don’t go messing up my stuff now,” She scolded him, giving him a hug and nuzzling him. She placed him down on the bed and slid out of it, running a hand through her hair to smooth it out. Her eyes trailed over to the bathroom and after running her hand through her hair again she decided it was time for a shower.

Feeling refreshed, Train slipped the strap of her backpack over her head and motioned for Pikachu to come along, leaving the room and shutting the door behind her. She dropped the key off at the desk before she left the Center, and soon she was out of the City, heading up the trail to Mt Moon. She hoped it wouldn’t take that long, but at the same time she wasn’t exactly itching to go back into big, dark cave again… Oh, well. It could hardly be avoided it she really wanted to get to Cerulean.

She made her way carefully through the grass, happy that she wasn’t spotting to many wild Pokémon. She passed a couple of trainers, but they were engrossed in a battle and she didn’t pause to long to speculate. Mt. Moon loomed far in the distance and she debating on if any of the Pokémon that were usually there might be a nice addition to her team. She highly doubted she’d try to catch anything new, though, as Oddish was proving more difficult than she’d thought, and then there was her new Growlithe to focus on as well.

Pikachu sniffed at the ground every once in a while but other than that the walk was pretty dull. It seemed like it was taking forever to move small distances, but when Train glanced up at Mt Moon again it seemed much closer than before, which was good. She looked up at the sky; the sun still shone brightly, but she had very little hope for reaching Cerulean before it set.

The sun was high, and the weather a bit warm. But this was no problem at all, in fact it was just perfect. So perfect, that it merited a song! Carlos had been taking a bit of a break now, Mt. Moon was father that he had originally though. He sat up against a tree now that his goal was somewhat close at hand, his sombrero casting a cooling shade over him as he plucked one of the strings on his beautiful black acoustic guitar, hand crafted and adorned with fancy looking engraved designs that were painted gold. "Ah ha ha ha! Perfectly tuned!" And with that he strummed out one chord after another, soon playing a rather upbeat tune. Julio, his Lombre, couldn't help but to come out of his pokeball and start dancing to the music. Coming up the road Carlos noticed a young girl, he smiled and continued to play.

As Train continued on the faint sound of a guitar drifted to her ears, and off in the distance she saw a trainer (she assumed he was a trainer, as he had a Pokémon dancing beside him) sitting against a tree and holding the guitar, thus solving the mystery of where the sound was coming from. Pikachu scrambled up to her shoulder to get a better look at the Pokémon, and Train wasn’t entirely sure what it was, either. She vaguely remembered it from a book, and it looked sort of like a Water- or Grass-type, but that was about it.

As much as she wanted to stop and inquire about the Pokémon, she felt awkward in multiple ways, first off not wanting to just interrupt him, and secondly she had no idea who he was and a shyness took over, and so she did her best to pass him on by, though she couldn’t help but look his Pokémon over and try to remember what kind it was.

Julio, who was still dancing happily, noticed the pokemon on the trainers shoulder and laughed a bit as they tried to walk by without saying a word, which he would not allow. In a dancing motion, he went into a bit of a spin, spinning out onto the road in front of the two and stopping suddenly, giving the two a bit of a bow. Looking up at them he smiled and reached a hand at them both with an energetic "Lombre!" Carlos chuckled, standing up and walking over to them, still playing his guitar. He spoke with a noticeable accent, but his words were understandable. "Why hello there señorita, fine day is it not? That's a cute Pikachu you've got there. You'll have to excuse Julio, he's real friendly though so don't worry to much." Stopping once he was beside her, Carlos played one final chord on his guitar before adjusting the strap and swinging it over so it was on his back as he took of his Sombrero and bowed, much like Julio had. "Carlos Alejandro Riveras, at your service. Any requests? I can play just about anything if I've heard it."

Things seemed to be going fine until suddenly the guitar-playing stranger’s Pokémon spun out into the path in front of them, causing Train to stop in her tracks, and nearly causing Pikachu to fall off of her shoulder. Speaking of which, it was kind of uncomfortable walking with him there, so she reached up and pulled him off, holding him in her arms carefully. ”Uh… Hi,” She murmured unsurely to the Pokémon, right before he gaze was drawn to the man, who’d stopped playing and was now talking to her as well. He sped right from one thing to another, giving her no time to respond to any one thing until he finished.

”N-no thanks,” She said, feeling slightly less awkward now that she at least knew his was friendly. A bit over eccentric, but some people just tended to be like that. She couldn’t find anything outright creepy about him, so that made him more okay at least. ”I’m Train, She introduced herself, letting down Pikachu, who was squirming in her grip at this point.

"Train is it? A bit of an odd name, but maybe that's just me." He said with a bit of a chuckle as he looked down at Julio who was now dancing around to her Pikachu. "Heh heh, settle down there champ, todabia no estan confortables con nosotros." Carlos was speaking Spanish, though weather she knew this or not he did not know. Lombre nodded and stopped stalking the Pikachu, content to just stand there basking in the sun. "Say, you wouldn't happen to be heading to la Montaña Luna over there would you? Cause that's where we're headed." he said as he pointed to Mt. Moon, putting his Sombrero back on his head.

Pupitar took the Iron Tail head on, the shiny metallic looking blade at the end of Seviper's tail hitting him straight across the chest and sent him tumbling back. It was clear then to both he and Crenu that this was not a normal battle, these were not average opponents. Kenneth was good, and his pokemon trainer well. Both of his pokemon deflected the attacks and got good hits in without even trying it seemed, this was a losing battle for sure. But that didn't mean Crenu was going to give up, nor were his pokemon. "Damn...Bite on Starmie, Ariados use your Fury Swipes on Seviper, get them while they're still within close proximity." Both pokemon shot off without a second moments notice, Pupitar launched himself at Starmie ready to sink his teeth into the star shaped pokemon while Ariados was more than happy to try and rake her opponent into submission.

"Uh uh uh Shiro, I told you you wouldn't win this one. This here is a lesson in the difference between contest battles and regular battles remember? Now watch and learn!" Kenneth spun aroudn on one foot, like a glittering top, before coming to a stop with his hand outstretched pointing at the battle field. "It's go time my lovelies, Flame Thrower and Bubble Beam go!" Both pokemon nodded, jumping back in unison with Seviper wrapping herself around Starmie carefully. From the top most point on Starmi's body and the two side points it released a barrage of stinging bubbled, but the way they flew at the opponents was a bit odd as the three streams of bubbles seemed to form a large spiral like shape with a gap in the center. The point of this was soon clear though, as the way Seviper was coiled around Starmie put her head in between these three appendages where she was free to unleash a hard stream of intense fire, traveling in a neat line right down the center of the spiraling bubbles. The light from the flames shone through and reflected on the already shimmering bubbles, making the whole thing look like a drill of red and pink.

Crenu almost couldn't believe what he was seeing, how long must they have worked on this routine? But it wasn't just a routine, not just a light show. It was an attack, a combination of opposites working as one. Ariados was rushing directly at Seviper when they attacked, and was the first one hit by the attack. Pupirar, having been knocked back hard by the Iron tail, was behind Ariados and therefor had time to stop himself and could only watch as Ariados got pummeled. The fire was a super effective strike, and the bubble beam was a hard hit too. Ariados didn't stand a chance, she was out like a light. Crenu could only recall her, this was it. Two on one, Pupitar was hurting from that Iron Tail and both of ken's pokemon were pretty much fresh. But more importantly, against their combination Crenu was powerless. There was still a lot more work he had to get done before he was ready to seriously take on the contest circuit, or Ken. Pupitar would have continued to fight if asked, but Crenu knew better than to send the guy out into a massacre. "That'll do Pupitar...." Recalling his pokemon he sighed, looking over at Ken who was smiling as he recalled his own pokemon. "I'll be honest with you Ken. I didn't expect to win that one but I didn't think it would be that one sided either. I'm still just an amateur, that is clear." Saying nothing more, Crenu made for the pokemon center to get his pokemon healed and think further about this loss. His record was looking pathetically one sided with few wins. It was all Crenu could think about as he walked into the center, placing his pokeballs on the counter for Nurse Joy to take. Once he was sure she had them he turned about without saying a word, walking out of the center and taking a seat on one of the steps as he waited. Crenu lit one of his cigarettes and took a long drag from it, sighing as he exhaled a plume of smoke. "Damn...."

Kilik yawned and stretched, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. It was a pleasant sleep, and the rocking of the ship actually helped him through the night. He was shocked that he had fallen asleep at all, as the excitement of reaching the Sinnoh Region started to course through his veins almost immediately after waking up. Then he gasped. "Treecko is still out with Mr. Treecko!" The boy hopped out of bed as fast as lightning, grabbing some air freshener and spraying it on his clothes before running out onto the ship. "I mean, I'm sure he's kept her safe, but she's probably really wanting to find me." With that, Kilik started down the hallway to find his green companion.

And Kilik was very right - she was looking for him. Sure, this dreamy Treecko (who she found out whose name was Pan) protected her through any dangers they had come across, like trainers trying to capture them, or that one time she almost fell down the stairs. No, Pan was a dream come true and she wanted to be with him for forever, but she missed Kilik very much. Surely her trainer missed her too. She smiled over at Pan as the two gecko Pokemon ran down the halls. They approached a staircase and Treecko paused as she saw a familiar tuft of hair of feet coming up to the deck. "Treecko! Treecko Tree!" she said excitedly, waving her arms.

"There you are!" Kilik said, extending his arms down. Without hesitation, Treecko grabbed her boyfriend's hand and walked him up to Kilik's shoulders. With the two geckos on board, the male trainer gave a sigh. "I take it you two had fun?" He looked at both geckos, and Treecko blushed and nodded. Pan was sure a dreamboat. "Thanks for taking care of her, Mr. Treecko," Kilik said, picking up his foot and starting to head down the deck. "Now let's see if we can find your trainer, huh? I'm sure whoever it is is certainly wondering where you've gone off to."

"Giovanni, sir!" a scientist cried out, looking at some data on the screen. "The ship is close to making Port. The children will soon be off the ship and in Sinnoh, possibly out of reach of Mai and her team."

"Let them scatter like roaches to the light," Giovanni said calmly, clenching his fist. "Mai!" he barked into a communicator, "When you port in Sinnoh, transfer that Raichu to me. It is important we use it for our newest experiment. A Devolution Beam that will put those children in their place!" He laughed, not bothering to listen for her response - should she refuse, he would see to it that she would be reprimanded for her disobedience. However, he had the utmost faith that she would do as she was told as always.

"My three experiments will soon be in full motion! My MM2 project may have hit a few snags along the way, but will soon be going without a hitch! My Devolution Beam can soon begin and I can use that girl to tear those children apart from the inside! Just one by one..." Giovanni started to laugh, "This is perfect! Team Rocket will rule this world and there's not going to be anything standing in my way! I will crush all who oppose me and show them the true power of Team Rocket!"

The sombrero-wearing trainer kept speaking a different language… Cue more awkwardness. Pikachu looked more interested than scared at the dancing Lombre, though he still seemed a bit nervous being trapped by it. He scampered over to Train when he got the chance and stayed close by her right leg, to which she smiled slightly. She glanced at Mt Moon when Carlos pointed to it and said, ”Yeah, we’re heading to Cerulean.” Okay, maybe that was kind of obvious, but hey, as far as he’d known she could’ve been planning to go somewhere else!
