Joe slapped the corner of the energy bar from below, causing it to launch upwards. He spun and snagged it out of the air. "Thanks," he said, grinning again. He took a bite as he mulled over their options.
"All right. If we're going to meet up with the others, I'm going ahead with my original plan. I have to meet this Arturo guy." He looked around a bit. "Pairs? A good plan." He winked cheerily. "I thought we worked pretty well together."

Takeshi, Paul, Samuel, and a few others found themselves eventually following Alan to the same location as Siber and Joe.
"Bad news, guys...." Alan declared as Joe and Siber turned to face their new company, not even waiting for them to speak. Alan reached into his shadow and threw two familiar-looking gauntlets on the ground. "Josh got yoinked by Abaddon; he's now trapped in the Heart of Darkness. He sent these to us with the last of Crossover's power boost, along with a message of explanation. Sam and Excalibur are unaccounted for. Samuel raised an eyebrow as he realized that he shared a name with the resident swordmaster of the hunters. "We can't find Linda or a few others."
"Legion hasn't contacted us so presumably our truce is still on, though I am afraid, what with Alan and all of you guys for the opposition whereas we only have Sammy and myself here, our side's contribution seems rather... outclassed," Takeshi chimed in.

Joe knelt and picked up the gauntlets. "What? Is there any way to get him out?"
He looked around. "And when do I get to meet this Arturo guy?"

"For the moment, you can't," Alan said flatly. "Arturo is Linda's Warlock, and Linda's MIA." He frowned. "Kayla either? Damn."

Joe stood, holding the gaunlets and examining them in the light. "Damn. Looks like we're severely lacking in troops. What I reccomend is that Siber and I give you our mission report, and we determine a plan of action. We can afford to bring some people with us on our next mission, and I say that the rest should look for the missing Hunters and Warlocks."

Joe grinned slightly. "That was thanks to this guy's quick thinking." he jabbed a thumb over his shoulder at Siber. "All I did was keep an unstoppable demon from destroying all of LA. And kept myself alive, of course."

"Nice," Alan nodded at Siber. "So, what exactly do we do about the whole Josh being in a dimension of evil problem, though?"

"Thanks. About Josh." It was obviously not good for any person to be stuck in an unfortunate dimension. Josh, however, had not been particularly friendly with Siber. Morally, he felt it was a vague, passive obligation of his to help this guy out. Again, though, Josh could probably get himself out, if he was strong enough to wield the Fists. "I think time could be better spent tracking down Helmsborough's old home. Plus, what if it led to information we could use to help out Josh, anyway? It doesn't seem too unreasonable. We're trying to detach Abbadon from one guy, so we can use the same info to detach one guy from a realm Abaddon sent him to."
((Umm... I have become thoroughly confused, especially about Arturo's identity. I will consult the first page and two and deconfuse myself. Check for updates at 0200 hours!

edit: I lied. This is an update. I have no idea why Arturo came back into play. He's Linda's Warlock, according to the first page. And I checked the last ten pages for a mention of him. I'm thoroughly confused. My apologies, because I've apparently missed something entirely.

((Well, Arturo is established in-universe as the world's most powerful thaumaturge during his lifetime and was a shadow Warlock, though whether Linda is living up to that is debatable thus far.))
"Wait, what's in Helmsborough's home? Are we going to try to find samples of his body for a guided thaumaturgic strike or something?" Alan asked, confused.

Siber shrugged, but kept his voice low, not knowing who might be listening. "Joe knows more about that than I do. Helmsborough had a breakdown in the middle of the battle, but once he recovered, he started spouting out stuff about how to detach him from Abaddon. I didn't catch much of it."

Joe shifted the fists over to his left arm and tapped the side of his head with his right. "Telepathic communication," he said. "While we were fighting, I was in an Avatar state as well. Perhaps that's what established the connection, although I'm not sure. Either way, Helmsborough sent me a message telling me that if I wanted to free him, I'd have to find something from his original home. He wasn't very specific though..."
He appeared unconcerned about Josh. Perhaps because he was holding Josh's only assets in his hands currently. That, and Josh wasn't all that nice of a guy, so far.
((i don't think i revealed the thing with Arturo yet. i had this awesome plan that i hatched when i realized that like, 99.9% [obvious exaggeration] of the new people were elementalists, causing the whole "original elementalist" thing i had to lose appeal. i had a master plan to change my class, but i need Arturo to do it.))
