Joining Cyphr as beckoned by the small boy, the Choleric female looked from 'Lelaus' to Cyphr, and back to the figure in the middle of the room that the young Sanguine had claimed wasn't their professor. "What...?" she began, but thought that maybe it'd be better to stay quiet, since it seemed the real professor was there, just... not chained up. So weird, she thought with a shake of her head. Still... This class did seem like it was going to interesting. "Good job, Cy," she said affectionately, ruffling the Sanguine's hair. "I don't think anyone else noticed that it wasn't him." She grinned, genuinely proud of her young friend.

Ubel was startled as Cyphr proclaimed the Professor as... well, not the Professor, and was doubly surprised when Cyphr was proven right! A smile blossomed on his lips and he gave the little Sanguine an approving look, nodding slightly to him. "Very amusing, Professor Lelaus... if that is you, then what is this?" he asked, gesturing to the chained creature.

Lior laughed out loud and shook his head, grinning proudly at Cyphr. "Good call, kiddo," he told him, wrinkling his nose playfully, before his attention went back to the Professor. This was going to be fun, he was sure of it...

As the students stopped in and around the doorway, Abacus jerked back in surprise to prevent himself from running into the back of a Sanguine. He craned his neck and rocked forward onto his toes, peering over their heads to see... Someone? He rocked back onto his heels and listened. That's the professor? What was with that thing around his neck? he mused, looking up as he heard a familiar voice, Daggart, walk forward to investigate further.

Curious, Abacus offered quick, soft apologies to his fellow students as he squeezed here and gave a little shove there to get through them, moving past the doorway and to the side to get a better view. When the creature spoke, he was confused -- why was a professor chained to the floor in such a way? He turned his head and watched the real professor make his entrance, looking from the creature to the professor and back again. He let out a low whistle and shook his head in amazement. This was... He stopped his hands, resisting the urge to take a picture. Even if the creature in the middle of the room was chained, he didn't want to risk accidentally upsetting it.

The new girl peered over the spectrum of heads, wondering what all the confusion was about. Did they really thing that chained thing in the room was the Professor? Well, it could be, but there was something strange about the situation...something that would likely be revealed when the time was right. It was a class to teach, after all. Eve grinned to herself, turning to observe the gathered, catching sight of something lovely and pink--

"Biwa," the oh-so verbose girl breathed, moving through the crowd like a pro to greet the dainty girl with a great hug. Probably not the best way to greet someone that she'd only met but once before, but it was such a shame to waste such worries on frivilous things like...formalities. When the thing in the center snarled some language, she instinctively clutched Biwa to her chest, turning the smaller girl so she wasn't directly in line of the chained creature.

As the more likely candidate to be a teacher entered, however, her face lit up with glee and immense curiosity. She couldn't pretend to know what was going on, but if she knew, she wouldn't be here now would she? With a brief smile at Biwa, she released the girl, clasping her hands behind her back while she waited. She carried no notebook nor school supplies, only a content smile and her avid curiosity.

Arwen came in shortly after the chained being snarled. Surprise rippled through her, but she kept her expression neutral, the only sign of her hesitance lingering in her eyes. That one looked very much like one of the Professors, but there was something...off, about him. Something not right, perhaps something...less contained?

It was about that time that a dressed Lelaus came into view, and the young Melancholy startled herself further by smiling faintly at his happy introduction. She wasn't supposed to smile at such theatrics! With a very light ruby creeping into her pale cheeks, she quickly moved to take a seat near the door, not at all concerned with who was around her. Animals, indeed.

Biwa at first stiffened at Eve's enthusiastic hug, but then quickly clung to her as the chained-not-Professor snarled at Cypher. She let herself be moved out of the way, glad for the protection.

Even when Eve pulled away, Biwa kept close, hiding behind her a little. After all, the chained and collared creature was still in the room, and she was still a little subconsciously shaken from the Botany trip, all that time ago.

"Make sure it doesn't get me?" she squeaked, softly.

Danna reached out and gripped Astaroth's wrist, perhaps a little harder than she'd meant to, to stay him. "'Taroth..." She breathed quietly, sensing his displeasure, and not wanting the Melancholic boy to lose his temper. Danna was sure there was a reason, a lesson to be taught from Lelaus' demonstrations. She didn't think of it as being tricked, so much as being shown the possibilities. It didn't make her second-guess, merely pay closer attention, trying to see if there was danger. Afterall, best to learn such lessons now, when she was young and within the safety of the White District. There was simply too much at stake to be affronted with such concepts later when there was no Professor, no safety net to break the fall.

Cyphr scowled at the fake Lelaus and then turned his expression on the real Lelaus and grinned, broadly from ear to ear. Now, this was more like it! "Lelaus!" Cyphr squealed delightedly, leaping towards him and throwing his arms about the Professor's waist. "I'm so a'cited!" Cyphr beamed up at him, forgetting entirely that there was a class going on.

It wasn't until he saw Lelaus' attentions a little distracted by the student's questions behind him that he piped himself down and nestled himself into Lelaus' hip, absent-mindedly petting the professor's fluffy fox tail.

Lelaus gave a handsome grin and soft chuckle to the class as a whole, whiskers bristling and ears perked. "Why, this is Graphtas, a Rakshasa that has agreed to help Lelaus with his lesson today." Lelaus strolled forward as he spoke, a little hampered by the hefty weight of Cyphr clinging to his hip. He leaned in to Graphtas and murmured, "Sorry about the collar, dear chap, m'afraid it's precautionary law."
Then Lelaus turned back to the class and spread his arms. "To start off today's lesson we're going to look at the unique talents of the Rakshasas! Graphtas if you would please reveal your true form!" And like a magician and his scantily clad assistant performing some slight of hand, Lelaus stepped aside waving his fingers at Graphtas. Graphtas hunched his shoulders for a moment, then shook his head. His Lelaus facade melted away revealing the bushy fur of his kind, with vibrant orange-irised eyes, and thick musculature.
"Ooooo~" Lelaus cooed, as if he'd never seen such a sight before in his life. "Very impressive indeed!"

Aysel started a bit at the touch to her arm, whipping her head around to see who it was- and lit up when she saw that Ubel had come to join her. "It has been awhile.." she agreed, nodding "Too long. I'm not sure what to make of the next class- so for now, I'm going to withhold judgement."

At the spectacle that awaited them within the classroom, Aysel frowned, taking a step closer to Ube. Lelaus liked to trick them, often in ways that frightened them...and this time was no different, it seemed. So now there were two different Lelauses in the room...the half-naked one a doppelganger of sorts to the real one. It made her all sorts of uneasy, since the last time she'd seen an imitation of an Empyrean had been when there was a Spy amongst them. As her classmates piped up, both congratulating Cyphr in his keen observation and inquiring as to what the false Lelaus was, Aysel sighed softly and shook her head. She didn't like being tricked.

However, as the creature took on its true form, Aysel couldn't help but to smile in delight, jotting down its name. It was, as Lelaus had said, very impressive indeed.

"Antigone's gonna be sad she missed this," Cash said with a soft laugh, more amused than anything else at the antics of their current professor. His teaching style did seem a little... unorthodox, but he did seem to mean well, at least. "She likes things like this, you know. Gets excited and stuff." Standing with Lior companionably, he looked around for Yalitza, but it seemed as if his friend- he thought they were friends, anyway- wasn't going to be able to join them today. Maybe someone else...? He'd made a vow to be more open, because what fun was there in being closed? He turned his thoughts back to the professor.

Blayk grinned, clearly amused by what had gone on in class so far. A Rakshasa, huh? Sounded pretty cool. Sure, the Kinesthetic wasn't all that great with remembering boring facts, but this was pretty awesome! She's be able to remember this stuff no problem, as long as she was able to write everything down soon enough after the class was done. She got the feeling it'd be easier to pay attention without paper and ink to distract her right now. "Are they just shape shifters, Professor, or do they do other things too?"

The touch immediately drew his attention and he glanced over, one brow arched. She was hurting him... slowly, he flexed his hand and sighed, shaking his head as he touched the top of her hand with his free one. "Danna..." There was slight smile in the tone of his words. He may not like the methods but he understood there were lessons to be had. Prideful as he may be he was not too high upon himself that the Academic would allow such petty emotions to get in the way of the pursuit of knowledge.

Where his problem lay was in the having to watch for danger in a supposedly safe situation. The White District and these classes they attended were supposed to be a sanctuary... one should not have to watch one's step and be utterly alert in sanctuaries. "It's alright. You're hurting me..." Astaroth might have a force of will to be reckoned with but his body was very much the embodiment of an Academic Melancholy... slender and to a point, dainty.

As the Rakshasa shifted, Astaroth blinked and leaned forward, intrigued. They'd never found out what had infiltrated the city... had it been something this this creature before them now?

"Ooooo~" Daggart cooed in turn, thoroughly impressed. So regal and strong and... awesome! "You're cool!" He complimented Graphtas, flashing him a huge grin and squaring up his shoulders in an effort to look more burly and copy the 'monster'. Surely what Lelaus called friend couldn't be a snarling nasty monster?

Lior applauded a little when the true form of Graphtas was revealed, grinning broadly and giving Lelaus an approving look. This class was going to be awesome... "What are some of the basics we should know about Rakshasas, Professor? Or should I ask you personally, Graphtas?" he asked, eyebrows rising a little. He wasn't sure if the Rakshasa could understand him...

Ubel smiled warmly at Aysel and put an arm around her waist to hold her closer, looking happy to be with her. "Isn't this really awesome, Aysel?" he asked, eyebrows rising as he watched, before glancing at the girl beside him. "I think I'm going to enjoy this, I think..."

Danna started suddenly, letting go of Astaroth's hand and giving a wincing appology, "Sorry, 'Taroth!" She whispered fervently. "I...I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention." She fidgeted and swept her hand by her ear, but the telltale strand was already neatly tucked up in the hairpin Astaroth had given her, so the motion was superfluous. She gave a deep exhalation to calm herself and shook her head softly. "Shall we move a bit closer for a better look?" She asked, offering a small smile.

Cyphr moved alongside the professor peering around at all the rapt student-faces. The Rakshasa changed form and Cyphr squeed loudly, "You melted your face off!" He glanced towards daggart to give him a grin, and then sought out Blayk to grin at her too. He'd have to make a point of talking with them both after this class to see what they thought. Cyphr was really getting in to the Monster Training idea, and he was hoping one of his friends might join him in his passion.

Graphtas looked sharply down at Daggart, a little puzzled and pursed his lips for a moment. "Cool?" He asked in that same rumbling voice.

Lelaus turned his attentions to Lior and smiled. "Well, a Rakshasa can only speak in his own voice, as you may have noticed, and while in other disguises only in his own tongue. When he's in his true form, as Graphtas is now, he can choose to speak in any language he's bothered to learn. Graphtas is actually quite the acomplished linguist in English. Not as much of a conversationalist, though..." Lelaus paused and shifted his weight to his other hip, quite enjoying having his tail pet by Cyphr. "Rakshasas can mimick the appearance of anything roughly their own weight and size. So Graphtas here could look like Eleuthero or another monster, or a large wooden door, but not an Elephant or a tea kettle."

"I can't do..." Graphtas paused for a moment, at a loss for the correct word. "Tzetper." He finally grumbled in his own tongue.

"Ah yes!" Lelaus beamed at him. "Thank you for reminding me. He would like to add that he cannot become something with moving parts, like mechanics or technoequips. So, if disguised as an Empyrean, his technorings would not be functional. Etcetera..." Lelaus waved a hand to continue his point and smiled. "But for travel in dangerous areas and quick jobs of spying, the Rakshasa are second to none. They are strong, intelligent, competant fighters and have a grasp on languages. If you can find one willing to work for you, it's your lucky day!"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 03, 2008 12:12 pm

Blayk nodded as Lelaus spoke, dutifully filing away all the information that she could hold in her head about these Rakshasa creatures. "How do you find one to work for you, Professor?" the Choleric asked, leaning forward to get a better look at the monster. Was it a monster? He seemed to have so many of the same capabilities as they did... Were Empyreans monsters too? Save that they were their own masters, and couldn't be shoved into Technorings? She shivered a bit, and decided not to follow that train of thought. It was too... question-y. And she didn't have enough answers.

Abacus glanced around, a slight frown tugging at his lips. Was he the only one worried about this? He glanced over at Cypher, puzzling. It's clear he knows him from before... Is that why he was able to notice the shapeshifter's disguise? He made a note to ask him later -- the Rakshasa seemed to understand their language, and might take offense if he asked how to look past their illusions.

For now, Abacus took out his notebook and pen and began taking notes, leaning against the wall for support as he summarized what he knew so far.
