Keegan chuckled, and shook his head a little in disbelief, even though he knew that there was no way for Kasiya to know the truth. At least Mai thought up a believable enough cover story, he thought, though he couldn't help hope that he wouldn't be seasick now that he was no longer asleep - at least it had been somewhat beneficial. "I'm feeling a little better," he said, the answer more or less truthful. "A bit thirsty, though." He looked up at her then, a little curious as to why she was so quiet. She looked like something was bothering her, and his heart sank a little. Oh please tell me she didn't, he thought, gulping as the girl knelt beside him on the floor. Mai, if you said anything to her, I'm gonna-

His thoughts were quickly interrupted by Kasiya's apology, and for an awkward moment he just stared at her incredulously. She was apologizing to him...? He smirked a bit inwardly when she mentioned the incident with Sasha, and he closed his eyes. Right, she had flipped out on him because of that, and rightfully so, now that he thought about it. He wasn't sure why the sudden change of heart though, perhaps Sasha had explained the situation to her? Even still, he knew in his heart that she wasn't the one who needed to apologize, and he could feel pangs of guilt beginning to stab at his chest. "Uh, forget about it," he said quickly, forcing a smile. "I shouldn't have... well, you know," he murmured, not feeling the need to say it aloud, and he looked around, desperately wanting to change the subject. Very carefully he got to his feet, now seeing the belt that held all his Pokeballs lying on a table nearby, and he grabbed it, and practically ripped Pan's Pokeball from its clip. He clicked the sphere open, but he wasn't at all surprised to see that it was empty. "Dammit," he muttered, replacing the sphere and reattaching the belt around his waist. Then again, he was sure the Treecko was probably still somewhere on the ship. "Shall we get out of here?" he asked casually, once he'd put his shoes and coat back on. "I'm going stir crazy in this godforsaken room."

There wasn't much the Starmie could do to avoid the series of punches that were sent at it other than keep its body moving to hopefully deflect some of the damage taken. Four punches were landed in all, and none of them were painless, either. Starrie was still in good shape after the Comet Punch however, using its limbs to lift itself off the ground and land safely back in front of Miharu, who was quite happy that she'd made the decision to use the Water Stone. "Good job, Starrie, now let's try a Swift attack," she suggested. It had always been one of the attacks she liked best, as a move that wouldn't miss, barring the use of Protect or Detect, was often quite useful.

The Mysterious Pokemon went spinning into the air once more, the red gem in its center core glowing brightly. The Starmie let out a sighing sound before unleashing a barrage of glimmering, golden stars that all quickly homed in on their target, Hitmonchan.

Chuck frowned as he watched the Starmie recover after being smacked around by Hitmonchan's Comet Punch, his arms still taut across his burly chest. There was nothing to be done about the oncoming Swift attack, so he told Hitmonchan to grin and bear it. The Punching Pokemon was a tough one, having gone through many a rigorous training session with his trainer, and it was going to take more than that to bring him down.

"Okay Hitmonchan, it's time to get serious! Get in there and slam 'em with your Thunderpunch," he bellowed, punching the air with his own meaty fist. Hitmonchan pounded his fists together and dashed towards the Starmie, knowing that he'd probably be able to land a good, solid hit as the star-shaped Pokemon came back down to land, and he let out a grunt as he swung his electrified fist at the water and psychic type Pokemon.

Train looked over at Brock, having a clear view of his now that Onix was underground—which, honestly, was a pretty intimidating though, as it could more than likely rip up the entire field in one go if it so well pleased—and said, ”I know. I’m just hoping that this doesn’t end in a tie…” The last part she muttered to herself, seeing as how the last battle had come pretty damn close to that. But that was without a type advantage (well, Dig had one, but overall there wasn’t), and Oddish’s advantage was pretty huge. Plus, as far as she knew, Ground-type attacks had no special advantage over Grass-types, so while this next attack was intimidating, coming form such a large opponent, Oddish should still be set to battle.

Now, to decide what to do… Poisonpowder was useless right now, as was Toxic, and the rest of Oddish’s moves. She didn’t really have to have Oddish do anything, but… It would be really unnerving to just sit there and wait for Onix to strike. Especially for Oddish, who was already looking around nervously, obviously quite scared that the giant thing that had just been in front of her had disappeared beneath them.
Sweet Scent, Oddish…” Train said hesitantly, and for a moment she thought too quiet, as Oddish didn’t react, but just as she was about to repeat it, she saw a light pink colour drifting from the leaves on Oddish’s head. Hopefully the smell would linger enough that when Onix reemerged it would affect him.

Soon they’d arrived at Petalburg’s entrance, and Leon went right to the Pokémon Center, though he didn’t hasten his pace or anything. He recalled Muuma just outside the building, and once he was inside he placed both her’s and Ghos’ PokéBalls on one of the trays and waited semi-patiently for the nurse to take them. The wait was fairly short, and soon Leon had both of his Pokémon back. He stepped outside of the center and looked at the sky. It was just turning to dusk, making him realise that it had taken him a while longer than he’d thought it would to get to the city. He lowered his gaze and turned his head to look in the direction of Petalburg Woods, and decided it’d be best to grab a room for the night rather than go into the woods. So, he entered the Pokémon Center and asked politely for a room, and prepared to settle in for the night.

At first there was nothing, just the defining silence and the uneasiness of the opponents. Onix brought a psychological advantage to the battle field with his massive size and against such small opponents it was almost to easy. But at least they were hanging in there, and Oddish looked like she was trying hard to keep it together, using that Sweet Scent to cover the field in a pleasant smelling pink cloud. Brock would have had Onix stay down longer, but the time to strike was perfect, and even though the cloud would lower his evasiveness Onix wasn't going to be doing a lot of running away. The ground started to shake a bit as Onix suddenly shot from under the ground, tearing through the earth with ease as he honed in on Oddish's position, the earth raising up slightly as he got closer until the massive pokemon erupted from the ground under Oddish's feet.

Oddish stood huddled on Train’s side of the battlefield, eyes opening wide as the ground began rising. ”Oddish, try to move out of the way!” But it was too late; the Onix had appeared right underneath the small Grass- and Poison-type, sending her hurling through the air. She let out a loud cry, and as Train’s eyes followed the trainer shouted, ”Use Absorb!” Oddish was too scared to register the attack for the moment, however, and landed with a thump on the rocks of the arena. The attack had hurt, but had not nearly done her in, and she hopped to her feet, shaking slightly. She shot Train a small glare, though the teenager acted like it didn’t bother her and called lightly to her Pokémon. ”I know that hurt, Oddish, but if you use Absorb, you’ll feel a lot better.” She smiled warmly at Oddish, who turned away from Train to face Onix. Having used the attack before, of course, she knew this very well to be true, and so she concentrated on performing the attack.

Kasiya smiled brightly and quickly wiped the tears from her eyes before Keegan could see them. "Yeah, exactly," she said, though a part of her still felt like something was off. I'm probably still just tired, she thought, standing up as well. She watched Keegan fidget with his belt, though she didn't really understand why one of the Pokeballs seemed to be empty. "Yeah, we should go get you a glass of water or something, since there's no food left on the ship," she said, though the last part of her statement was muttered mostly to herself, stopping to look out the window while Keegan put on his shoes. The ocean was very blue today, and for a fleeting moment she wished she wasn't on a ship headed for Sinnoh, but on her way home, to Vermilion. She didn't know how long it would be until she saw her homeland again.

She made her way to the door, looking over her shoulder at Keegan as she turned the handle. "Just don't throw up on me or anything," she teased, hoping to diffuse the tense air with a bit of humor. After everything they'd been through in the last while, she wanted nothing more to have everything the way it used to be. We'll get there, she thought, smiling at the redhead, and holding her hand out to him. We've just got to trust in each other and remember that we care about each other. "I'm ready when you are."

Eliza's face fell when she saw how easily Blaziken avoided her Pokemon's move, and she began to feel a bit of unease creep into her stomach. She knew Jaeshan was right; that she couldn't rely on type match-ups alone, but the only other Pokemon she had was a Sunflora, and she really didn't think that would have been a smart choice, what with Blaziken's powerful Flamethrower and all. "You're right, Jae," she said, shrugging, and putting her hands on her hips. "We'll have to play this a bit smarter. Golbat, use Supersonic." She smiled over at the cute blonde as her Pokemon put some distance between himself and the Fire-type, and he spun around before opening his large mouth and emitting a high-pitched noise that was almost more painful to listen to than his Screech had been.

A small smile tugged at the corner of Jaeshan's mouth when he heard the command, and he looked to Blaziken as she covered her ears with her hands, eyes squeezed shut. Supersonic doesn't always work, and even if it does there's still a chance Blaziken will be able to attack... "Blaziken, let's try a Blaze Kick," he said, scratching his chin. Please work, please work...

Blaziken lowered her hands and blinked a few times, the sights and sounds around her blurred and jumbled together. She could vaguely hear her trainer's voice calling out to her, and she nodded slowly, the movement making her even more dizzy. She turned to her opponent (or what she thought might be her opponent) and jumped into the air, her right leg enveloped in flames as she attempted to scorch her enemy with her signature move.

It was somewhat amusing to watch the poke ball as it flew through the air, only to land with a solid-sounding whack against the Fearow's chest, and just like that the Pokemon was pulled inside in a red flash of light. The sphere hit the ground, the light in the middle blinking rapidly as the ball shook on the ground, though Riza wasn't quite sure how a frozen Pokemon might escape capture at this point. Her thoughts on the matter would turn out to be correct as very soon the ball became still, and Riza let out a deep sigh of relief. "Well now, that was fun," she said.

Akima nodded in agreement and looked down at the poke ball curiously, as though making doubly sure the Fearow wasn't just lying low, waiting to escape. She picked it up off the ground and dusted it off before carrying it over to Riza and holding it up for her. "Sneasel," she said proudly, wearing a wide grin of her own.

"Thank you, Akima," Riza said, taking the pokeball. "I think I'll name this one Plua," she said before putting the sphere onto her belt. "You were really awesome just now. You sure showed her a thing or two, hope she doesn't hold it against you." Akima smirked and shrugged, not really caring what the newly caught Fearow thought of her at all. After all, she was Riza's primary partner, and she planned to keep it that way. Besides that, if Plua gave them any trouble, she'd just have to lay the smack down once again.

"Pretty slick takedown," came a voice from nearby, and both Riza and Akima looked over to see a boy, probably Riza's age, walking towards them. He was wearing fairly average summer clothing, shorts and a T-shirt, mismatched socks and sneakers. His hair was a dingy sort of red and he had freckles on his nose and cheeks.

"Uh, thanks?" Riza said uncertainly, adjusting her backpack a little. "What do you want?"

"What? I don't want anything," he replied with a laugh. "I was just complimenting you on your catch. That Fearow has a reputation for being nasty, it'll be a lot more peaceful around here now that it's gone."

"Oh. Well, that's nice, but I have to go," she said, motioning to Akima. She didn't feel like sticking around and talking to some random boy, especially when she needed to get back to the center and get her Pokemon.

It wasn't long before the sound of water greeted their ears, and Katie and her Pokemon picked up their pace, soon finding themselves at the edge of what looked like an underground river of sorts. "Okay, so this is a dead end then," Katie said quietly, looking down at the clear water with dismay. It wasn't long after that when Noa appeared, bringing news of what Katie and the others already knew. "Well, at least we're getting our exercise for the day," Katie sighed, and she recalled both Noa and Genki into their poke balls before they could start a fight. "Let's get out of here before this damp turns my hair into frizz central."

She began walking fairly quickly, not wanting to spend more time in this place then necessary. Kord peered into the water for a few more seconds before chasing after his trainer, his feet making very little noise as he ran. Before long the duo came upon the rock Genki had smashed earlier, and this time they took the right path, and after a bit of an uphill climb the cave began to get brighter.

Katie sighed with relief when she stepped outside into the bright sunshine once more, and as she looked back over the way she came, she could see Jubilife City in the distance. "We've come a long way already," she said, smiling down at her Elekid. Kord nodded in agreement, and Katie picked him up. "Well, let's keep going. It won't be long until we get to Floaroma town."

Brock nodded as he watched Oddish knocked about by the ground typed attack, had it not been for her grass typing that would have been a really hard hit. "Good Onix, a solid hit. Let's get ready for another one!" Onix bellowed, but they were unable to capitalize on their opponent as Oddish was already up and using her Absorb. Brock knew this was coming eventually, and even though Absorb wasn't that strong an attack against an Onix of this level it was still going to leave a good dent, so it was all a matter of overpowering her as soon as possible. But after taking that Sucker Punch, trading hits wasn't going to be as easy as it usually was. The green aura reached out and hit Onix, sapping away his energy and stinging something fierce, but Onix was alright for now. "Let's go Onix, Rock Throw again!" When the pain from Absorb subsided Onix roared out angrily, scooping up another pile of rocks and flinging it at her opponent.

Oddish perked up a bit, rather liking the feeling of having some of her health restored. This moment was short-lived, however, as the next moment she was dodging falling rocks. She seemed to be doing fairly well, until suddenly a smaller once knocked her over, making it easy for a larger one to come crashing down on top of her. ”Ah—are you okay?!” Train cried to her Pokémon, relaxing a bit once she saw Oddish pushing the rocks off of herself. She squirmed to her feet and shook her head, already preparing another Absorb. Train opened her mouth to begin the command but shut it again once she saw that Oddish was already doing it. Even though she was going to order another Absorb anyway, it still bothered her that Oddish had obviously planned to disregard any other command. Oh, well, at least it was still what she was going to ask for…

Brock remained stoic as he watched the battle pan out. Oddish recovered from the Rock Throw, which was no big surprise, and Onix was becoming the victim of another Absorb. "This can't go on like this, we need to do more damage Onix! Hit her with Screech!" Brock commanded as Onix winced from the sting of Absorb. He took in a deep breath and and unleashed a very high pitched blast of sound towards Oddish, one or two of these and Oddish should be no problem.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 22, 2010 8:57 pm

Train cringed at the horrible, high-pitched noise coming from the Onix, and upon opening her eyes (which she’d squeezed shut) she saw that Oddish was doing the same. ”We’ve gotta stop that thing…” She muttered, looking at Onix. ”Oddish, another Absorb…” She said, not knowing how much more Onix could take, so basically she just had to hope that this would do.

This was not, however, Oddish’s plan, and Train blinked in surprise when a yellowish-golden powder began floating from Oddish’s leaves towards Brock’s Pokémon. Oddish was sick of this giant rock Pokémon hurting her, and so she’d (again) done what she felt best, and used a Stun Spore on it.

+=+=+=+

Leon woke with the sun the next morning, not having bothered to close the shades the night before. He’d left Muuma and Ghos in their PokéBalls for the night, as he didn’t trust them out on their own, unsupervised. Hell, he didn’t trust Ghos even with supervision.

Deciding upon a quick shower and grabbing a bite to eat, Leon was out of the Pokémon Center by late morning. He went straight for Petalburg Woods, having nothing else to stop him from doing so. He paid no attention to the gym as he passed, as there was nothing to gain from staring at the place when he knew his Pokémon weren’t strong enough to take on the gym leader there yet. Although… He was fairly certain the leader had Normal-type Pokémon, and Normal-type attacks didn’t affect Ghost-type Pokémon. But, he also had to be aware of situations like the Zigzagoon; they probably had other-type attack moves that would crush his Pokémon due to the huge level difference.

And so, Leon went on to Route 104 to head towards Petalburg Woods and hopefully reach Rustboro City soon afterwards.

"Stun Spore? Watch out Onix, don't let that stuff get to you!" But it was to late, Onix was to busy using his Screech to avoid the Stun Spore and the yellow powder entered his body. Onix could feel the toxin taking a hold of his nerves and the paralysis coming on, but Onix was determined to keep going regardless. "Doesn't seem that your Oddish is quite ready to listen to you yet. You shouldn't bring a pokemon like that to an important battle like this one. Onix use Rock Throw again! Hopefully that Screech was enough to give you the edge again." Onix was hurt and the paralysis was setting in slowing him down, but he was able to stave it off from completely seizing him and managed to get another Rock Throw off.

Keegan took a quick look around the room in order to make sure he'd left nothing behind, and he slipped his hand into his pocket, silently counting the remaining cigarettes in the pack. It seemed that a few were missing but he couldn't muster the energy to care at all, and though he was seriously pining for one right now, he knew he wouldn't be able to light up with Kasiya around. That thought quickly vanished though, as he thought he heard her mutter something about food, and though it had been a while since he'd last eaten, he wasn't feeling very hungry at all. "I could go for a cup of coffee, or seven."

He idly wondered where Pan had disappeared to as they stepped out into the hallway, and he chuckled at her comment. "Hey, I make no promises," he said, looking around almost restlessly. The change in scenery was almost intoxicating, and for once, he didn't even seem to notice the ship rocking with the waves. He really had no idea where anything was, so he allowed Kasiya to lead the way, only now just realizing how many people were on board, and that made him think of something, and he remembered boarding the ship specifically to find Kasiya and warn her about the Rocket, since she wouldn't answer his phone calls. "Hey, how did you know where I was?" he asked, carefully eying every person they passed by, ignoring the weirded-out looks he was getting in return. "I didn't even think you knew I was uh... on the ship," he added, now watching a suspicious girl with pale blonde hair, despite the fact that she was way too short to possibly be Mai in disguise. "Did someone tell you I was here?"
=====
I knew that was coming, Miharu thought, frowning a little. She knew that Thunderpunch would be devastating if it were to make contact. Hitmonchan was also quite fast at this point, possibly even faster than Starrie thanks to its ability to use Agility, and there weren't many options. A few moves quickly came to mind, but one seemed better than the rest. "Starrie, use Minimize," she called suddenly. She hadn't really used this move a lot before, but it had been useful in getting them out of tight situations. The Starmie's core gem flashed brightly a few times before it tucked its limbs inward, and the whole Pokemon's body seemed to shimmer before it suddenly shrank in size. The now much-smaller Starmie was able to roll out of the way, digging the pointed ends of its 'arms' into the ground to help it gain momentum.

Chuck watched with a bemused grin as the Starmie's body grew smaller, and the water and psychic-type Pokemon was able to escape Hitmonchan's mighty Thunderpunch. "Clever move," the Gym Leader said, laughing a bit, "but we're not going to give up so easily! Hitmonchan, use Thunderpunch once more! Flatten that Starmie, so that we may show this girl the true power of fighting type Pokemon!"

The Punching Pokemon was a little confused as to how the star-shaped Pokemon had managed to make itself smaller, and as such a much harder to hit target, but he had no plans to stop trying. His fists once again became charged with electrical energy, and he chased after the minimized Starmie, throwing punches with every step.

Train cursed under her breath, horribly embarrassed that this was happening in front of a gym leader. ”She seemed fine when we were training before…” She murmured hopelessly to herself. ”Oddish, use Absorb!” She called firmly, almost angrily to her Pokémon. Oddish glanced back at Train, definitely not liking this new tone of voice. She didn’t have much time to dwell on this fact, however, as soon she was being pelted with rocks again. She struggled to her feet this time, and Train could tell that this was really bad. She breathed a little sigh of relief, though, as Oddish carried out an Absorb attack, the greenish orbs of light soon appearing from the paralyzed Onix.

Kasiya smiled at Keegan's reaction to her joke, feeling her heart flutter a little. This was a good thing, as it reassured her that there was still hope for the two of them. She was oblivious to Keegan's careful observation of everyone they passed by, though she did notice some of the strange looks being sent in their direction. "That's the thing," she said, smiling at a couple and their young son as they went by, "I didn't know you were actually on board until that blue-haired friend of Sasha mentioned you. I have to admit that I was a bit surprised to hear it, after you told me you had no intentions of coming over to Sinnoh in the first place."

They arrived at the cafeteria then, and she stepped through the door as it was being held open by a kind-looking old man in a panama hat. "Thank you," she said, looking around. There were many tables inside, nearly all of them empty, and she turned back to Keegan. "There was this reporter woman who interviewed Sasha yesterday afternoon," she said, getting herself a glass of orange juice. "That blue-haired boy had said that they were helping you to find some place to rest until you felt better, and when I talked to her this morning she told me what room you were in." She sipped her juice, very much glad that Luffy and the Snorlax hadn't gotten into the juices and such.

It seemed that the confusion had taken a tight hold of Blaziken, the fact now apparent as the Blaze Pokemon launched her trademark Blaze Kick at seemingly nothing. Jaeshan frowned as Blaziken crashed hard into the ground, injuring herself in the process. He had to admit that he hated it when his Pokemon was confused, more than any other type of status ailment.

Both Eliza and her Golbat shared a bit of a laugh at Blaziken and Jaeshan's misfortune. "Great job, Golbat," she said, nodding. "Now let her have a taste of your Air Cutter!" The big bat nodded and flapped his wings harshly, still struggling against the blinding sand that stung in his eyes. He flew forward and slashed the air with his wings one after another, sending two sharp cutting blades of wind at Blaziken.

"You can dodge those easily," Jaeshan called to Blaziken, who tried to sidestep the oncoming Air Cutter. She easily avoided the first, but the second caught her square in the chest, forcing her to stumble back a bit. "Hang in there, Blaziken," Jaeshan said. "Try and use Focus Energy to snap out of it!"

Blaziken nodded, hearing her trainer's distant voice in her clouded mind. She closed her eyes and focused, though it was a lot harder to do with her mind wandering everywhere.

"Good Onix, we should have this one with another attack or two!" This battle had been a little tougher than Brock had anticipated, this rookie trainer was still rather rough around the edges but she was learning. Onix cried out as he was hit with yet another absorb, it was really starting to get annoying! The Absorbs were definitely doing their job, and unlike Oddish Onix wasn't gaining any health every time he attacked. He was definitely in a bad place, Onix was on his last leg and it showed as he struggled quite a bit to recover from her attack. But that didn't matter now, it was time to finish this once and for all! Oddish couldn't take another hard hid he thought, but another Absorb was probably going to do him in. "Alright Onix use Dig!" His roar was weak and his movements sluggish, but Onix tried to obey and dive under ground. But the paralysis was to strong to fight off anymore and his entire body locked up. Much to Brock's dismay, Onix was unable to move!
