There was a short gasp as Ialo ducked, then slid around behind the man. Every gun was pointed at him. Perhaps 15 soldiers. And one very strong, pissed off man.
All against one dragon.
Psshhh... Ialo thought. I can take this. His eyes turned a vengeful crimson, and lightning flooded the room, all the lights exploding. However, the tanks and LSS interfaces remained intact, untouched.

He blinked. She wasn't turning away, she wasn't even making a rude remark about his proximity. "Hmm.." he hummed softly. He closed his eyes and exhaled, only to hear her shrill voice in pain. He pulled back and took another sip. "Told you." he said, smiling. He uncapped the drink and licked some of the whipped cream off, enjoying the sight of Lin.

She opened one eye and was going to scowl at Dymetri, but even the process of trying to form a scowl made her feel the sharp sting of pain in her head. "Ow ow ow. I always listen when people tell me things. The one time I don't..."
She groaned lowly and leaned back into the couch. A few minutes later, the pain had somewhat subsided, like Dymetri had said it would, and she reached for her drink again... very very slowly. She took a very small sip and actually smiled.
"Totally worth it. Mmm." There was whipped cream on her upper lip now. She felt it and blushed slightly as she turned her head away to lick it off.
She then turned back to look at Dymetri. She didn't really know what to say now. She hadn't ever been alone with a man except her father and her brothers. This was different. What did you say to a man... a professor! A professor. She had talked to professors in the past before. But this seemed very different.
She cleared her throat and said softly, "So, um, how are you liking your new accommodations at school?"
((Ooooh Lin...))

He chuckled just from watching her. She was cute. Maybe worth a little more than what he presumed. Her question made him drift back into the present. His face fell. "I still haven't gathered the plants needed for my special abilities class." He sighed. Dymetri took another look at Lin and smiled. "I have time though. Sun hasn't even begun to set yet." Taking long sips, he regarded her again. "How's it like being probably the smartest student in the school and hanging out with the most crude and new teacher to have ever li--existed."

She looked down at her lap in complete embarrassment as she heard him repeat words she was certain she had said to him before. Her hair fell over her cheek bones, creating a curtain affect around her face. It didn't shield her eyes since the side strands of hair were clipped to the back of her head. But it still shielded the majority of her face.
There was a long silence as she tried to think of what to say. And finally, she just spoke her mind. She said very softly, still looking at her lap, "I don't know what to think."

His eyebrows pulled together in a little bit of a worried expression. He slid along the chair until he was right next to her. "Hey.." he whispered. He put his arm around her and his other hand pushed her hair away from her face. He slowly unclipped her hair and smiled as it fell down. He pushed it away from her face. His hand fell to her knees, pulling them on top of his legs so that he was cradling her. The store was empty and the workers were in the back, waiting for the bell to sound if someone were to walk in. The arm around her shoulder supported her, and he made it possible for her head to rest against his shoulder or chest. "You don't have to think anything." he whispered, caressing her. "You think too much anyway. You need a break. So take one.." he said, leaning down to softly kiss her temple. He found it cute how she was still holding her drink with both her hands as he carried her.

Lin's breath caught in her throat as Dymetri's long, smooth, cool fingers brushed her face as he pushed her hair away from her face and then deftly unclipped her hair.
She actually gasped as he pulled her into his lap. What was he doing? He was a professor... he was a vampire! And she was an elf... This wasn't natural and so wrong...
Her breathing was shallow as she sat frozen on his lap, completely tense. And then he kissed her temple... his lips touched her temple. It sent electricity through her body. She had never felt this way before, ever. It was scary... but she also liked it.
Despite everything screaming in her head to stop, she leaned over to the table, put her drink on it, and then slowly leaned back against Dymetri. He was right. He was actually right. She needed to stop thinking so much for once. She didn't like what her thoughts were saying to her.
She very very slowly leaned her head against his chest. She couldn't hear his heartbeat... he didn't have one. Oh just shut up Lin!

He sighed, closing his eyes. It was wrong, even in his sick sense. "There are no such thing as evil creatures." he muttered. "No such thing as good creatures. That's only in bedtime stories and legends." he continued. "Sure, there are creatures of the light and creatures of the dark.." he cleared his throat. "But some of us didn't have a choice."
"I was twenty-three when I was changed. By this small girl whom I took in and protected for almost a year. I don't even know if she's still out there. She never spoke until right before she killed me. "I lived in the times where a small infection was able to ******** you over. My brother.. he got hurt one day, six years before I died. By a wolf, we thought, because that's what he said. Then again, he also said that he bit off it's ear trying to run away. So we thought he was going crazy when he began saying that the wolf turned into a human after it clawed into him." He swallowed and opened his eyes. They were red, not with hunger, but from sadness. "I hit him one day, telling him to shut the hell up and that he was psychotic. I got angry because everyone always cared about him. It was always him and never me. No one ever cared if I was getting jealous or neglected. His name was Cross.. "The day after I hit him, he died from the infection. I was the only one who didn't cry when I helped dig the grave for him, yet now I look back on it.. and I was the only b*****d who should have been crying." he said, his tongue feeling thick. Tears slowly ran down his face. "Then after we prayed for him and walked away.. this.. monster of a man. This a*****e.. he had the nerve to say 'He put up an interesting fight.'" He wiped his eyes. "I've never forgotten that.. Six years later, I was on an errand in, what was back then, a really good job. It was during the winter, which was pretty horrible." he said chuckling through his tears. If you didn't see his smile, you'd think he was just crying harder. "I saw the small girl, just sitting in the blizzard. She seemed to be singing. So I walked closer to her, to see what the ******** she was doing, you know? It's odd to see a child in a snowstorm so deep in the middle of nowhere. But then, that's when I saw it.. A wolf had emerged from behind her with these evil-looking red eyes. I was going to just leave, because it wasn't my problem. But then I looked at it closer-- it only had one ear. So then, that's when I snapped. I started beating the piss out of the damned animal, going on a blood-crazed emotion that was out of my abilities back then. Somehow, I ended up killing the p***k. That's when I took her in, since she never spoke I had to name her myself. I called her 'Little One' just because there was no such thing as creativity back then." He stopped and cleared his throat. The tears seemed to be stopping now that the memory of his brother was back in the past. He sighed and continued. "An entire year.. A whole ******** year with that little b***h. I even began to love her because she was always by my side. Little did I freaking know that she was analyzing me. Trying to find out the perfect way to kill me. How was I supposed to know that damned werewolf was her brother?!" He slid the hand that was holding her knees out and he clutched his hair. He tried to calm his breathing. "That's what she told me right before she killed me in bed. When she walked in one night, I just thought she had another nightmare, so I let her snuggle in bed with me. But as soon as she spoke.. I didn't even care to realize what she was saying. I was just so happy that she was even talking to me! But what she told me back then hurts more now than it ever did back then. 'You destroyed my only purpose for living, so I will destroy the life you have no purpose in.'" He closed his eyes. "Hm. Never even realized that she back washed whenever she drank blood. That's what you need to do to create another vampire. You need them to have your blood as well. But it needs to be during or right after the process of killing them. I decided a long time ago that backwashing is the easiest way to do it, unless you want a fresh pair of holes in your flesh." he said. At that very moment, he'd forgotten whom he was speaking to. He stared at Lin, his clear eyes still having a bit too much moisture, and he opened his mouth with nothing to really say. "I-I'm sorry.. you had to hear.. all of that.." he stuttered. He blinked and lost eye-contact with her, trying to figure out a way to destroy the horrible mood he'd created.

Lin was completely dumbfounded, and she never had been in her life. She had heard about it before, so that's how she knew that's what was wrong with her right now.
Seeing the tears in his eyes shocked her beyond belief. A vampire... crying. He didn't seem like a vampire anymore... at least, not her previous, stereotypical image of a vampire. He hadn't even CHOSEN to be turned into one. It had just happened to him, and after he had been so kind to someone who he thought was an innocent young girl. He had taken in a stranger to help her. That's what her people would do for creatures that they sensed had some light in them.
She had never heard such language before as she had just now with his revelation. She didn't know what all of it meant, but it oddly didn't seem to matter. She focused more on what he had to say than how he said it.
With her hand shaking, she managed to finally reach her hand up and gently grabbed the hand that was in his hair. She brought it down to her lap and held it in between both of hers.
"I.." She cleared her throat. "I, am genuinely so sorry that happened to you. I always thought that... that people had asked to be turned into vampires. That they were selfish, dark humans that wanted power and immortality. So they sought out vampires to turn them. I never even considered that vampires might try to turn good humans into one of their own. I simply thought that they only killed good humans that were filled with light... which it actually sounds like you were when you were human. Only a human filled with light would have taken in a stranger like that."

He smirked. "I'm not that holy. After I died, I've sinned more than you could possibly imagine. I've done things you probably aren't even aware exist yet." he said, smiling. "But you'll learn, especially in America. Go to America once you've got your life, kid. It'll change your entire perspective on everything. It's the worst yet the best country in the world. You could accomplish anything there, yet food and water is wasted like nothing." he said. "Good times.."

She grew really uncomfortable talking about dark things he had done. She liked talking about the good he had done while alive... But that's not who he was now. He WAS a dark creature. The darkness that seeped into his blood when he was turned had extinguished his light.
That's what she told herself. That's what she had been told growing up. There was no light in evil, dark creatures.... But he was being so nice to her. And he had opened up to her, sharing intimate details about his past.
She sighed and slowly got off his lap and sat back on the couch next to him. "Perhaps we could order some more coffee. My treat?"

"You haven't even finished yours, darling." he said, unaware of the name he used. "And it's getting late. We need to get back to reality." He had a small crush on Lin. That's the only thing that made it possible as to why he shared his past with her. His past made him emotional. He grabbed his half-finished Java Chip. "Would you like to race back again or would you like to walk on the water and tell me about yourself?" he asked, standing up and holding out a hand for Lin to get up. He smirked. "A vampire is able to do extraordinary things that takes years to perfect. As long as we're touching somehow, I'm able to give you that same power."

Lin's eyes widened as large as saucers when she heard what he called her. 'Darling'?! That was what her father called her mother. Wow... This night was becoming surreal.
She took his hand this time and smiled slightly up at him. She stood up, already missing the comfort of that couch. When she heard him mention walking on water, her heart lifted. That would be incredible!! She loved the water so much! But, if he had to give her power to do that...
She almost winced as she asked what was on her mind. "That power... is it... dark? I mean, if you have to lend me some of your power to walk with you, does that mean I would have some of that darkness inside of me?"
She HATED asking him that. He had been so kind to her all this time. But that didn't change what she was. She could not have darkness inside of her.

He rolled his eyes as he opened the door for her. "Didn't we just go through this, Lin? As a professor, my job is to teach you, even if you're not my student." As they walked outside, he slid his arm around her shoulder again. "Dark magic or light magic, it's all still magic. Magic replaced with titles that help the elder ones control the youngsters. The magic that could produce destruction or violence or things that don't please others is labeled as dark magic and it's backed up with legends and stories and threats that make the innocent not even try to understand it." he said, as if he's thought about it before. "The first century I lived was the most horrifying experience of my life. Do you think I wanted to stay what I was? Do you think I did not hear those terrifying tales if you were to become a nightwalker? Do you think that I did not cry myself to sleep at night knowing that if I were to look at the sun again, I'd die?" Dymetri shook his head. He cleared his throat. "Thankfully, after you've existed long enough, you obtain the ability to let your skin be still in the sunlight. My eyes though.. they cannot be shown." he muttered. They were already at the edge where the water started. "Magic is magic, Lin. As I pressed my finger against your lips, I used a common spell to seal them. Just because I used that spell, does that make it dark? If so, then you already have darkness within you." he said, lowering his eyes. "I'll walk on the water if you wish. You could fly in the air."
