"Thankyou all for being so patient, i'm not going to make us wait any longer." He stood from his chair and crossed the room to the front door. He'd watched the exchanges a few minutes ago, but muted them. He'd been thinking of stategies himself. Fire was the only known element he'd be facing. The others hadn't disclosed what they'd be using specifically. So fire was the first one he'd focused on, and fire would be the first he'd spar with. "I realize Anslia isn't here, but it's getting too late in the day to hold off on the matches any longer. Kain, you'll be first. If you three could follow me."

Kain nodded and stood, he strolled out casually behind the headmaster. "So.. i'm first, eh." Kain said quietly to himself.

Iris stood and followed Shtona, still worried about the sparring. She was secretly glad that Kain would be first, and she hoped he would do well. He seemed rather strong, and knowledgeable to an extent about alchemy.
"Good luck Kain," she murmured, unsure if her voice carried loud enough for the man to hear.

Piper looked from Iris to Kain not that she could really see their expression at the time, it was almost a reflect to see what others thought by an exchanges of facial epressions, but she'd have to settle for listening to pulses and heart beats a technique she had not quite mastered but was getting better at. She guessed that Anslia was the not so pleasant girl she had bumped into this morning, giving her the bennefit of the doubt that she was having a rough morning. With that final thought she closed her recent book and and stuffed her notes and pen inside on of the covers as she carried her study material with her following the foot steps of those who were in front of her.

As Kain walked he thought he heard someone call good luck to him, but he wasn't sure. It may have been his imagination. Well like Shtona had said, Win, Lose, or Draw he would be a freshman, but still the impression of a win seemed so much better.

After breakfast, Anslia had slipped out back to commence with her usually daily training. Stamina, strength, flexibility - the works. It took her quite a while (most of the day in fact.) She was mentally and physically preparing herself for the sparring match later that day.
Of course, her thoughts did not really trail to the others. They remained with her own body... the way her muscles and tendons were bendings and snapping beneath her skin. She only hoped that she would win.
When she finally felt ready, Anslia made her way back into the common room, soon enough to hear Iris's "good luck!."
"They sparring already? This'll be interesting..." She quickened her step, eager to watch. She caught Piper in her peripheral vision. Maybe she should say something?
...
Nah, there was fighting to be had.

He led them all around the side of the dormitory building to the back lawn. Set out in the middle of the lawn was a large glat patch of hardened dirt. "This is the sparring grounds," he said, "this is where we're going to hold the matches. Kain, if you'll cross to the other side, i'll explain the rules."

Kain walked across the large barren patch of dirt and drew both daggers. Driving them into the ground he knelt on one knee behind them, awaiting the signal from the headmaster. Kain did not show his nervousness on the service but he really wanted to make a good impression on everyone.

Piper followed the other others quietly across the battle site until she reached the safe spot, or so she hoped, for spectators. Once she was seated she opened up her books once more and began taking notes of the landscape as she awaited the rules and actual battle.
((It's almost 1a.m. here people. I've got to log off for the night. later.))

"The rules," he started, "are simple. Alchemy and physical melee attacks only. No killing. And especially no cheating. I'll say when the match is over. Any questions?"

Kain shook his head slowly, he was grinning. His hands sat on his right leg on top of each other. Kneeling on the ground behind his daggers he was anxious for the fight to begin. "No sir, I am ready."
