Vixen walked into the room and looked at the hologram with a slight scowl of disgust. It spewed little light into the room like techno-vomit that irritated her eyes. She inspected the little slot at the bottom curiously, while staying a healthy distance from the object. Obviously they were supposed to tamper with this thing and whatnot in order to progress, but she figured it would be better if Skip or Emerald did all that.

Her gaze shifted from the console and swept across the rest of the chamber, silently hoping there was something more than the hologram. Something living...so she could make it...not living.

[You post well. Gj.]

Sadly, there wasn't anything to kill. And since Emerald was far too computer-retarded for her own good, it was all up the Skip to work the little...vendor-looking thingy.

Emerald plopped down and whined.

"OH MY GODDDDDDD...JUST WORK IT, SKIP!

Please?"

((I am not going to be around a computer very much in the next while (exact time undetermined) due to moving issues. So, oh almighty folchinator, feel free to play Vixen while I'm gone.))

Skip blinked a few times, shrugged, and went over to the hologram. He blinked a few more times, and then tentatively poked it, seeing if it retaliated. Once satisfied, he took a good look at this thing. How much did this thing resemble a vending machine. Did he need to press specific buttons?

As it turned out, the console was really nothing more than a glorified touch screen. Not too bad.

Here's what it had to offer:

Hi-Potion: $56
-Restore 250 HP.

Ether: $55
-Restore 50 MP.

Antidote: $10
-Cure Poison.

Eye Drops: $10
-Cure Blindness.

Ammonia: $100
-Revive Fallen Ally.

----------------------------

Cutter: $300 [Emerald, Vixen, Skip/Weak]
-25 ATK, Crit damage +10%

Broadsword: $270 [Emerald, Vixen]
-31 ATK, 2-H

Fire/Ice/Bolt Rod: $450 [Skip]
-18 ATK, +6 INT, Property Bonus (Elemental)

Gauntlet: $400 each, $700 pair [N/A]
-15 ATK, +2 AGI, +|Climb|

Buckler: $99 [Emerald, Vixen]
-2 DEF

Chain Body: $100 [Emerald, Vixen]
-4 DEF

Chain Legs: $150 [Emerald, Vixen]
-3 DEF

Hm... Well, Skip still felt bad for getting a weapon while Emerald and Vixen still had some of the more basic ones. Let's see... they had $300 from the Mimic King fight... did any of the others have more?

"Um... Vixen, can you come over here? I'm thinking we should get one of these weapons, unless you think armor might be better. Do you have any more money on you?" he asked. Looking at the stats listed, he noticed two things. One was that the weapons had negative symbols before the number after ATK (which he assumed meant "attack"), and wondered if that was a bad thing. The other thing he realized was... the word "stats" was a palindrome....

Vixen kindly pointed out, as did Eva...who wasn't as kind...that the marks were actually just little dashes, not negative signs. Sweet.

Neither of them had any more money, though. There were items, however. Like Vixen's Lucky Card...which the screen would offer $40 for.

Hm. If they were going to make a purchase at all, who would get the..."big" item?

[Skip has gained $2000...out of thin air!]
PostPosted: Wed Jul 11, 2007 8:01 pm

As Skip contemplated what to buy, his mind suddenly drifted to how amazing he was at puzzles. Seriously. He kicked a**.

And then $2000 appeared in his hand.

"What the-.....? SWEET!!!" Skip said. Immediately, he spent $570 of the $2000 to get one broadsword and one cutter. "Here ladies. Pick whichever one suits you. And if there's anything else you want, just let me know, as long as the total doesn't exceed $1430...."

As Skip said this, he tossed the swords over to Vixen and Emerald. And as Emerald bent to pick one up, his gaze shifted to..... Jeebus, that a** was amazing- OH DEAR SWEET GOD, WHY MUST THESE THOUGHTS BE?!

Trying to keep himself from simultaneously vomiting and drooling, Skip said, "Um... yeah, Emerald, just pick whichever you think is breast.... BEST! Yes, whichever is best. And if you need anything else, just a** ask...."

Without even thinking about his slip-ups, Emerald purchased 3 Ammonias, 2 Ethers, 10 potions and 1 Buckler for herself.

Which was $559 well spent.

Afterwards, she equipped the knife and shield, letting Vixen take the massive sword.

Now what?

Not even listening to Skip, Vixen picked up the broadsword and gazed at the blade which glinted in the holo-light. It looked ok in the light, but it would look much better in blood.

Turning to the screen, she gave it a glare. Maybe she should buy something so it would go away. Quickly, she looked over the items and bought 10 potions, 2 ethers and 3 eye drops. You couldn't be too careful, and being blind wasn't very fun. Blinding, on the other hand, was a different story. Vixen let her mind drift to thoughts of impaling all sorts of creatures through the eyes, cutting eyes out of sockets, slicing eyes open...

Lovely.

Back to business. She figured some armor would be nifty. Hm... Chain Body? Chains are cool... She bought one of those, calculating a grand total of $290.

Skip took the remaining $581 of his $2000 and added that to the $300 they had won fighting the Mimic King. He then nodded, and said, "So, is that it? Everyone got what they want? Um.... okay, so what now? How do we... you know.... move on?" He looked about for a way past the "vending machine".

There was a pretty obvious exit straight ahead, actually. It was a little hole in the cavern wall, with some kind of upward slope that hinted at the possibility of a spiral rampway.

Ellisent did say these would be "floors". Was that simply the next one?

Oh. Well, that would be the exit, wouldn't it? Skip laughed, a bit embarrassed, but thought to himself that he needed to pay more attention to these things. It wouldn't do good for him to be this unattentive.

Regaining his composure, Skip said, "Well, shall we go, then? The sooner we get out of this thing, the sooner we can...." Skip trailed off, as he had no idea what they were going to do after this. Between trying to escape a table, freeing Vixen and Emerald, and then trying to flee Ellisent, Skip hadn't given much thought to it. But they were technically on their own now, right? As soon as they got out of FATE, then they could.... what? They couldn't go back to their rooms in Subania, nowhere in Subania was safe. They'd have to escape it completely. But they didn't even know where the exit was. Skip couldn't remember how he entered Subania. What if the exit to FATE (wherever it was) brought them deeper into Subania? Or worse, what if the exit to FATE was well known, and Ellisent was waiting for them at the exit? Damn, Skip had never really stopped to think about any of this. What were they supposed to do?

After pondering this over (a time during which he was eerily silent, and kinda creeping the girls out), he reasoned that this would all have to be dealt with when it happened. The only thing they could do now was to get through FATE, and prepare for whatever would happen next. Right. He turned to Vixen and Emerald, and, noticing how they were looking at him, he said, "Err.... Sorry. Kinda spaced out there..." After studying the hologram one last time, and deciding to buy 2 more ethers, just in case, Skip said, "Okay, let's go!" and walked to the exit.

((Heh, I originally typed "22 more ethers". Whoops. Too many ethers. (Esoteric adaptation of a quote: "Why are there so many ethers? This is too many ethers! The brochure said there would only be a few. But there are too many ethers!")))
