Whisper motioned toward the place where Sekenre was appearing in response to Krillo's question and then returned to investigating.

Tanya walked over to where Whisper was. "Anything I should know?"

"It's quiet," Whisper replied.

Tanya listened. Nothing. "That's strange. There should at least be some noise," she said. "There's not even any wind to rustle the leaves. The forest sounds dead."

"I don't even hear any growth," Whisper said. "Master Krillo. Come here and listen."

Krillo moves in front of where Whisper is, straightens to his full height, and becomes completely motionless. His eyes close and his brow furrows. He is still motionless; still quiet. After a few moments his stature relaxes and he breathes a deep sigh; it almost sounds sad; he is sad.
"I so longed to leave that room that when I saw the forest I was overjoyed." He looks down to his earthen kilt and where it had attempted to fuse with the ground it was withered and brown.
"But this...THIS IS ALL A FARCE!! There is no living no growth, the forest has no spirit to commune with. Mother is defiled here and trust me she will be avenged."
With his trent arm he grabs a handful of 'earth' and lets it slowly fall away.
"Lifeless."

Ganren looks around once more and a puzzled look crosses his face. He then faces everyone and asks in a worried tone"Dead? How can this be? What would cause something like this? " He then turns and looks off in the distance, "It seems that we can't enjoy anything when it comes from the evil one that sent us. We should try to get out of this as soon as possible, where do we head next?" He asked as he turned back to everyone.

Catherine sighed. "It's not surprising. Morphea has the power to create whatever she wants, but creating something living takes a lot more care and concentration. She wouldn't want to spend the extra time on it." She crossed her arms. She paused for Ganren's comments and questions and turned to Tanya.

"We head this way," Tanya said pointing directly into the tree line. "The compass doesn't say it, but it should be northeast. Not that cardinal directions really matter. Either way, that's where our target will be."

She turned around, pulling out the weapon they'd all been given. "It would be a good idea to be prepared," she said, motioning to the hatchet. Then she turned around and started off in the direction she'd pointed.

Whisper followed her directly. Catherine stayed behind a bit to make sure everyone was following. She grabbed Damion by the arm and led him along as well. "It's okay," she whispered in his ear. Damion acknowledged the kindness, but didn't believe her.

Castle listened on the their conversation about the deadness of the forest and commented. "Who cares about this artificial half assed landscape when you got the real thing waiting for you when you finally got out." It was odd for Castle to say anything comforting and he fount himself shutting his mouth soon after. When he heard Tanya's que to ready themselves, he made sure that both his ax and braclett were both readied and equiped. Then he slowly followed the girl, while keeping a keen eye out for anything that might be dangerous, or pink.

Ganren gripped the handle of the weapon tightly, glanced at is bracelet and nodded after hearing Castle's response. As soon as the group started moving off, Ganren matched pace and continued on.

Sekenre walked over to Krillo "I know the sacrifice you made to come here and the severed connection to 'Mother,' but have faith my friend, if not in the gods, then in your friends that we will find a way to get you back to her. I cannot sympathize, but I can empathize. Come we must head off with the group."
"Thank you my friend, your words are comforting though your promise may prove difficult to fulfill." Krillo studies Sekenre almost as if he's never seen him before, looking over the various scars that are visible and noting where others that not visible are. "Heh. Have you ever noticed that when you speak to me or Whisper your voice is that of the young man we know and love, but when you speak to others your voice becomes dark and aged?"
"Really? I hadn't noticed, but think of it this way: As the others live on through me," Sekenre taps his temple, "I live on through you and others most dear."
With that the two began to move toward the advancing group.
"By the way I did not want to mention this around the others, but I don't know how my healing abilities will work in this environment."
"Just do your best thats all we can ask of you my friend."
"HAHA! Thats tone was exactly what i was talking about"
The two continued onward, side by side, in an attempt to catch up with the others.

Tanya took the lead. She held the compass out in front of her and adjusted her direction accordingly. Her pace was that of urgency, but she made sure that the entire group stuck together as well. But it was important for her to keep everyone else behind her. She held her hatchet in her other hand, gripping it tightly, and her eyes darted around in all directions looking for any signs of an ambush.

Catherine, who now had Damion by the arm, leading him along. She tried to stay in the center of the group, as best as she could. Damion himself seemed to be fairing a bit better, now that they were moving, but he was still silent.

Whisper followed Sekenre and Krillo, not exactly behind them, but off to the left a bit. She would pause occasionally, as though to investigate something in her path, but only briefly and then she would increase her pace again to catch up.

After a few minutes of walking, Tanya found that she was changing her direction slightly more drastically than before. Those without the compass probably would not notice unless they were highly tuned to direction. She held up her arm in a fist. Standard military for stop. She knelt down a bit. Catherine, and with her assistance, Damion knelt down as well. Tanya turned and motioned to Whisper, who was already in a bit of a crouch position from the start, and she made her way over to her. "What is it?" Whisper asked in her lowest growl of a voice. "We're close," Tanya replied. "I need you to scout ahead. I'm not sure what to look for though." Whisper nodded, and muttered "Rabbit holes," to herself. She disappeared into the brush ahead.

As Whisper took off Ganren came close to Tanya and wispered "Are you sure its a good idea for her to go off on her own? You said these missions are dangerous, so shouldn't we stick together?"
PostPosted: Wed Sep 05, 2007 5:34 pm

"It's better we don't go all together," Tanya replied, turning to him. Her eyes seemed almost hollow. "For many reasons."

Catherine left Damion where he was an inched over to where the two were and put her hand on Ganren's shoulder. "It's always like this with her," she tried to explain. "And Whisper for that matter." She removed her hand suddenly, worried that it might have made him uncomfortable. "Y-you see. Tanya has this... thing... in her head. It helps us out a lot, but sometimes... it backfires." She looked down at the ground worriedly, putting her hand in front of her mouth. "What would you do, if it worked most of the time? Could you justify not making use of a tool, just because sometimes things turn out badly?" She didn't look up. The words didn't seem like her own either.

"Unnatural," Whisper interrupted. She had returned a moment before. Her eyes were wide and she was looking over her shoulder as she drew closer to them. "That creature is huge."

As Catherine talked Ganren wondered what she was talking about "What's going on with this group?".
After Whisper finished Ganren looked puzzled, "Huge? I didn't imagine it could be too big, just how big are we talking?".
PostPosted: Thu Sep 06, 2007 4:24 pm

Whisper looked back over her shoulder. "Large enough to easily eat a human."

Tanya closed her eyes to think. Whisper instinctively positioned herself to protect her if it became necessary, but she was clearly still shaken.

"We've never encountered anything more than a little larger than a human before," Catherine explained to the group in her most hushed voice. "Maybe plus half on height and double on girth... but that's it."

Ganren stood in thought holding his chin, "Something this big cannot be taken on melee , if what Whisper says is correct then close combat would only mean a disadvantage to us if it can just swallow us. We have to find a way to trap it, use the terrain to our advantage. If we have time, a pit trap would be preferable but we have to see what options we have available first."

As he finished he looked up and addressed the group"Well we are going to have to pull a strategy together here. First of all, none of us can rush this thing head on alone or melee if we can help it. If we can take this beast out from a distance we would be better off, but either way we need to look around our surroundings. Whisper when you did your scouting did you notice any terrain we can use to our advantage, like a small cliff face or any crevices big enough for the beast to go through? Also is anyone familiar enough with these plants that we might determine if any are poisonous? One more thing, Whisper did you notice anything about the beast other than its size ?"

Castle nodded with Ganren. He took his life higher than his pride and was not shy about working with others. "Well one thing seemed certain, it didn't follow her back here so it might not be to bright or hostile. If neither is the case then it might not have that great senses." He spoke to everyone during Garen's questions. "Since this is a jungle and we have ourselves these axes then why not make good use of them and chop down some trees and wrangle up some vines. If we can make some sort of rope with the vines and tie it to a spiked tree, couldn't we lure the creature near us and sort of swing it into it." He slowly strentch out his arm. That b***h said we wouldn't feel certain things like we would when we were 'alive', if fatique is one of those things then it shouldn't be to hard."

Whisper looked over her shoulder once again, and then closed her eyes. After a bit of a pause, she responded to Ganren's questions. "As for the creature itself, it looked exactly like the image we saw, except bigger, in complete proportion. So it might not have good balance. That's the only thing I could think of." She looked around at the foliage. "The plants are fake, so there's no telling if any of them will be poisonous or not."

Tanya took over. "But there do seem to be plenty of vines to use, if we go high enough." She looked up as though to make sure they were still there. "But I don't suggest cutting the trees down first. It would make far too much noise. Whisper may have remained unseen, but if we make too much noise, it will come to investigate. We can't count on it's stupidity."

"As for the changes from when we were alive, we do still get tired," Catherine interjected. She felt it best to address Castle's comment herself. "I'm afraid we do still suffer from most physical strains. The only things we are no longer in need of are food, water, and the like."

Whisper was already on her way up one of the trees with her hatchet held between her teeth.

"Let's not waste time then," Catherine said. "I can't climb, so I'll stay down here and collect the vines." She looked over at Damion and sighed. "And I'll keep an eye on him as well."

Tanya walked over to Ganren. "Give me a boost," she said, pointing to a branch that was relatively low, but still out of the teen's reach. Her voice sounded a little commanding and might have come off as rude.
