((Sorry, Maeko, that this has taken so long for me to get back to! gonk ))
When Anezka returned, he took the berries, needle and thread. He knelt, took a deep breath. He used the needle to pierce each berry, and with the juice, he stained a length of string. This he tied into a series of knots, then held between his clasped hands.
He began to sing, rocking back on his heels a little as he lifted his head, voice soaring to the heavens. He called back Hadassah.
((Must fall within 1-50, rolling in the main thread for it.
Got 66))
Hadassah did not return. Taniel placed a hand to his head - he must be growing tired, if his voice worked so very little.
"I am sorry... there is one last option, but leave me a little before we try it. It will cost you 150 couplets... and I advise you to wait until I am better rested. I can't help but worry that my fatigue is what is causing the difficulties."

Menelie Rojiza heads toward the Banya man's wagon with two of her precious birds. Taog, perched contentedly on her shoulder, and Aurelia nestled in her arms. She's still rather wary of Aurelia flying away again, and keeps a firm, but gentle hold on the neon-colored fowl. Ro knocks on Taniel's wagon door. She'd puzzled it out in her head, what Iagan had said, and thinks she knows what he'd meant. Taniel opened the door with a smile. "Ah, Rojiza - you haven't come by as of late! Grown-up life distracting you?" He beckoned her in. "Come, come- might I ask why you're here, bringing these two lovely birds?"

Rojiza smiles. She takes out her pad and pencil. They've been predicting very odd things lately. She writes. I've been trying to work it out in my head. I think I have it, though. Her writing becomes more cramped as she becomes more excited. It's a long story, but I think I'd like some FitzCherries, if you would. She offers him the pad, juggling two birds and it at the same time.

Taniel read over what she'd written, then laughed, good-naturedly. He went over to his chest, sorting through things before pulling out a small bag. He opened it, fished out a pair of fitzcherries.
"That will be sixty-five couplets, then, if you will." He moved closer, held out an arm for one of the Banya to hop onto. "Do you remember what I taught you a few weeks ago about breeding Banya?"

Rojiza nods emphatically. Of course she does! She lets Aurelia hop onto Taniel's arm while she fishes in her pocket for the couplets she'd brought along. She counts out sixty-five into a furry hand and then offers them to him. Sure, she thinks toward Aurelia. You're good for -him-.

"Well, then! Just make sure they stay in the same wagon until the egg is lain, and you should be fine," he said, smiling and handing her the cherries. "I trust you - I'm sure you will do just fine."
Taniel straightened a few of Aurelia's feathers, gently, then stroked a little under her chin.

Rojiza smiles. She writes again. Thank you! I promise I'll be in soon to visit Vahe and help you out and learn some more. And of course I'll bring the chick in to visit. She holds her arm out for Aurelia, who'd been nipping affectionately at Taniel's fingers. She's picky, but she does like the attention.

Aurelia hopped back over to Rojiza, rustling her wings a little as she settled.
"That will be lovely. Tell me how it goes, absolutely!"

Taniel Ansterh Aurelia hopped back over to Rojiza, rustling her wings a little as she settled.
"That will be lovely. Tell me how it goes, absolutely!" Rojiza nods and waggles her fingers in a little wave before exiting the wagon and going back to her own.

Anezka watched intently and full of hope. She stared at Taniel, her eyes growing ever wider as she listened to his singing. Her heart fell as she heard him stop and confess that Hadassah could not be reached. "Yes...please rest...that must have taken so much out of you...I'm sorry. And thank you" She turned to head back to Leshya'e and let her know.

Rojiza decides to visit the Banya master, Taniel. Mostly to show off her new Banya chicks. She gathers Anjou and Daliea, who had been accompanying her almost everywhere, and goes to Taniel's wagon. The two chicks had learned to sit on her shoulders by now, and do so happily, chirping into her ears. She knocks on the door to Honeyed Aria and waits for a response. Nothing. She tries again. What could he be doing? Still no response from within.
She hears the clatter of Banya from inside the wagon and decides to try the door. It swings open easily for her. She peeks inside. There's no sign of Taniel anywhere, but five or six Banya squabble for her attention. Startled, she tries to coo at and pet all of them at once. So many beautiful colors and temperaments greet her. The wagon is a right mess, and she begins to tidy things up--overturned perches and charms get righted, and she puts away what she assumes are some of Taniel's belongings.
Rojiza sighs. Where could Taniel have gone? I wish I could let you all out, she thinks, addressing the flock. But I can't trust you not to fly away yet. She continues to attend to the birds, rather enjoying herself actually, and then she notices that Taniel had left his own icy-blue Banya here as well. What could possibly have called him away so urgently that he'd left his own pet? Unless he's hurt, somewhere in the wagon! Frantically she looks in every corner of the wagon that exists, but the musical calmer of Banya isn't anywhere to be found. She sighs and sits in a chair. She surveys the Banya, wondering what she can do for them. Perhaps Taniel only went away for a short while, and would return soon? Perhaps tomorrow. She meets eyes with Vahe, Taniel's Banya. He'd been staring at her all the while. Poor creature is probably used to more attention. She strokes his crest and clucks to him.
Ro hears Caroline's voice calling her, and she starts out the door. I'll come visit you every day until Taniel gets back, I promise, she vows silently, mentally to the birds.

Vahe enjoyed the petting for a moment until the human woman called the girl away. He longed to be close to humans again, and wished with all his might that he could speak to her... or her to him.
When she left he flew to the window and watched her walk away. Then he watched the hussle and bussle of the caravan until the sun went down over the hills.

First thing in the morning, Ro slips out of her bed and out of the wagon without waking any of the various creatures that reside there. She makes her way across the wagon circle, her feet getting wet with the dew on the grass, toward Honeyed Aria. She knocks again--softly, incase Taniel had returned late the previous evening and is sleeping. And still nothing.
She goes in and smiles at the sleeping Banya. None of them are roosters, that's for certain! She watches them for a moment, and is turning to go when movement catches her eye. It's the icy blue Vahe, who is awake and watching her again. Softly she makes her way over to him and gives him some love. Ro strokes his crest and kisses the top of his head. What a pretty, pretty bird you are. I'll be back again soon, she promises, and leaves the cold wagon to go back to her own warm bed.

Once again Vahe watched the squirrel girl go, and turned to the window. Only this time he let himself get upset at her leaving, and the window suddenly covered itself in frost...

Rojiza treads back to the aviary for a third day in a row. It's a sunny day, and almost midday at that, when she goes across the circle to the wagon. Again she knocks, and gets no response. She steps in again and looks around. This time she's met with the normal flurry of Banya activity. And she'd brought a ball of string with her. You lovely creatures deserve some time in the sun! she thinks. She checks over all of them, and all have calming rings but Vahe. She takes the first outside and sets him on the porch. He doesn't fly away. She tries again with a second Banya, and she doesn't fly off either. One by one she puts all the Banya outside on the porch and steps of the wagon, except for Vahe, who had been watching her as she executes this trusting maneuver. Vahe she just holds herself. She sits outside on the grass, watching her charges, and stroking Vahe's crested head. She wishes she could murmur soft things to him--he seems a very alert bird, and Ro is sure he'd be able to understand. All the Banya seem very, very happy to be outside, and they croon and call jubilantly. At least, it sounds jubilant to Ro.
