[Enter from Kage's office]

Hiru walked down the street, looking very carefully at all the adresses. He had never been in such a large village, having stayed in the relatively modest and secluded Hoshigaki compound all of his life.

He walked deeper and deeper into the village until he finally found the Kirigakure aquarium. Overjoyed, he ran inside looking for the huge glass container the mission briefing mentionned. He turned left, and then right, but could only see fwalls on all sides of himself.

"What a boring aquarium...", he whispered.

Hiru went back outside to make sure he had read the sign right and apparently had not made any mistakes, this was the right adress.

He walked back inside and tried looking for someone who could help him. He looked everywhere and, as he was searching, Hiru's hand came in contact with a black wall. Strangely, it seemed much colder than the others.

And that's when it hit him...

He tapped the wall a couple of times and then realized it was actually made of glass. His eyes then raised and he noticed the "wall" did not reach the ceiling.

"This is going to take me weeks...", Hiru sighed.

He grabbed a mop and a brush that were conveniently waiting for him on the ground and wall ran all the way up into the tank.

"Better start if I ever want to be done with this!", he said, diving underwater.

Hiru got on the job right away. He swung his mop left and right underwater cleaning randomly all four sides of the tank. It took no more than five seconds for the tank to become completely black. Hiru panicked for a second, worried that this filth would get stuck in his gills. He very quickly realized that it wouldn’t be dangerous to him. Still, it wasn’t helping him at all. The aquarium was so filthy that it took 30 seconds after every stroke for the filth to settle at the bottom of the tank before he could even see what he was doing.

He used the same technique over and over again, not really realizing that about half the ooze and dust he swept from the walls of the tank went back to stick to other walls because he generated so much current underwater with his constant and rapid movements. The mop flew left and right and then up and down. He did manage to clean a big part of the excess filth on all sides of the tank, but not with that great success…

Hiru started realizing that even though some dew was coming off the wall, none of the areas he had “swept” were actually decently clean. It went from completely opaque to translucent. Even though this was an improvement, it was much slimmer than what people expected of him, and what he expected from himself for that matter. He started trying to think of a new technique that could be more effective.

He tried switching from the mop to the brush but it didn’t seem to work much better. He went from brushing one area to the next, from left to right, from bottom to top, but something was still wrong. Hiru realized the instrument wasn’t the problem; it had something to do with his technique. He sat down at the bottom of the tank and reflected on what he could be doing wrong.

That’s when it hit him. He’d been mopping around so erratically that he hadn’t noticed that the spot he had just swept at the bottom of the tank that was almost clear got immediately covered up afterwards from the dust he’d clean afterwards higher in the tank. He’d surely get nowhere like this. He grabbed his brush once more and swam higher in the tank, deciding to proceed more methodically, from top to bottom.

Hiru was hard at work, just like a good little trooper. He scrubbed and scrubbed the upper part of the tank so hard you could barely notice there was a glass there when he was done with the first side. Hiru was surprised, he wasn't exactly thrilled at the idea of washing a fish tank but the exercise was extremely gratifying, what was completely filthy when he came now was now very clean, and it's all thanks to him.

With the upper part of one of the sides done, there were still three left to finish before he could consider sinking a bit deeper to clean the lower parts of the tank. He grabbed his mop and started twirling it around himself as he removed the biggest part of the residue stuck against the glass. He swung on all sides, thrusted it against the glass and watched the light slowly fill the water as the filth was shaken loose.

There was something very natural about wielding this long instrument for Hiru. He seemed to have an innate talent at controlling the staff like object that really reflected in the ease he showed at using it for cleaning. Hiru felt for the object the same attraction he did for the water element when using chakra. He had heard before that this affinity was something caracteristic of his clan, but it did surprise him he could feel it for a cleaning object...

From the outside you probably couldn't see how much effort Hiru was putting in his his work. You'd see a mop pressing against the glass here and there before dissapearing once more. If you could see it from the top though, you would clearly see him practically generating a whirpool in the bassin with all the energy he spent spinning and scrubbing and brushing. This really was a lot harder than anticipated.

The technique Hiru used, now that he'd realized he would get much better results starting from the top top than the bottom, was separated in two distinct motions. First, he'd swing his mop around with great grace and energy to remove the most important part of the filth, pushing it towards the bottom where the fish would eventually take care of it. Then, he'd attack with the brush and scrub like crazy until the window turned crystal clear.

Even though Hiru had to spend great strength and energy for his physical labor, he still had to be extremely careful in his motions. He realized as the light started shining through that there actually were fishes in there. Most of them were pretty small and scared of him, probably because of his physical appearance. Still, like in any other group, this school of fishes had its big dumb guys who didn't seem to notice there was some danger present and constantly got in the way.

Most of the creatures in the fishtank were fishes. It was a rather colorful bunch, although some of them were somewhat drab. Still, Hiru took a long look around to make sure there wasn't anything poisonous or any large predators he hadn't noticed, lurking in some dark corner to jump him. He was pretty relieved to see that there weren't any shark in there he'd have to wrestle while cleaning...

He went to back to focusing on the tank glasses rather than onm the beauty of Kirigakure's tourist attractions, he would definately come back here when he'd have free time though. He picked the mop from the ground and delivered repeated powerful strokes on the filthy aquarium walls un til all that was left was the almost unremovable scum that nearly fused with the glass.

He then switched to his trusty brush. He rotated his shoulder a bit, warming up for the gigantic effort removing those stains required, and then jumped into action. He pushed against the glass with all his strength and moved the brush upwards and downwards with such speed the aquarium wall was about to melt from the intense friction caused by the shark boy's efforts.

The exercise was getting exhausting for Hiru, he took a few breaks now and then, never longer than a few seconds, and swam around a bit, contemplating the beauty of Kirigakure's undersea wildlife. One fish in particular caught his attention, it was a small, grey fish who seemed all alone and followed a school of bright colored rainbow trouts around, just like he was trying to fit in. Hiru watched him for a few seconds, with some strange form of compassion, but ultimately tried to make himself remember those were not intelligent creatures, and had no feelings. He had to focus on his work more.

Hiru sunk a bit lower again, more than half the aquarium starting from the top having been completely cleaned. The sight was getting sweeter and sweeter to Hiru by the minute. As the glasses gradually got cleaner, the sunset that shined through the window of the building with orange light found its way to the now transparent windows of the tank and filled it with its soothing heat. Hiru thought for a while about spending the night here... but later remembered what his father would do to him if he didn't come back home without good excuse. He got back to work...

As gratifying as washing the tank could be to Hiru, and as beautilful as the sights could be, he was starting to get a bit bored of the manual part of the task. The only way he could ind interest in the rough labor was to practice spinning the staff around and striking the glass walls with it. He realized a staff could be a weapon, and had a pretty good idea what his affinity to the instrument could mean, but he was very afraid ti admit it to himself.

Most Hoshigakis find their weapon affinity the day the Samehada is bestowed upon them, but other times they feel a connection to a precise weapon type through intense research or fortuitous discovery. It seemed probably the later in Hiru's case. Only problem was, for a Hoshigaku to have a blunt Samehada was often regarded as a sign of weakness and frowned upon, this was really not something Hiru needed...

He found there were two main ways to strike with the mop, the thrust and the sweep. The thrust obviously had more effect on a punctual surface, all of the weight being applied to a precise spot on the target. The sweep could gain more velocity and had a much broader area of impact, even though the penetration was smaller. For a while there, Hiru gauged the effectiveness of each blow by how much filth each could clean off the surface of the glass.

No matter how much fun he could be having swinging a mop around, there were times when he had to get back to reality and to scrubbing. He picked the brush from the bottom of the basin and went back to brushing the surfaces he had already started cleaning with the mop. His muscles were starting to get extremely sore and, even though more than half the tank was clean, there was still a lot of work ahead waiting for him...

Up to now, about four fifth of the aquarium was clean and spotless, Hiru was pretty proud of that. Only thing was that now came the hard part: he was going to have to clean the bottom of the tank where all the filth had accumulated. This meant he was going to have to switch to the bucket, and this was going to be the dirty and disgusting part. Hiru knew this was inevitably coming but had repressed it successfully up until now.

He jumped out of the tank to grab the bucket that he had left outside and came right back in. He swam all the way down and take good care not to move the water around too much, this would only make his work a lot harder than it already would be... He put the small metal container lying down againt the rocky ground and scooped as much scum as he could into the bucket with his barehands.

"This is sooo gross...", Hiru couldn't help but think.

He grabbed handful after handful of the thick brownish black deposit that covered the ground from his previous cleaning. Hiru emptied the sea weed, scum and filth filled container just outside the building. He realized after a few come and goes that this was probably not what the aquarium owner had in mind but still, it would be a couple of hours or maybe even days before he'd realize it. Hiru made sure all of the filth on the glasses was removed and that most of it on the bottom of the tank was now on the lawn behind the building. Once he made sure of it, he jumped out and prepared to leave.

Hiru found it a job well done, the aquarium was now completely clean, he could sea the fishes way back at the end of the tank and the sun shined through the window and right into their home. He finished mopping up the water around the tank from his constant tripes back and forth from the backyard to the aquarium and, once he was done, left all the tools where he found it and headed out, exhausted yet invigorated from his hard work.

Mistress ran through the village as she tried to track the erratically large chakra source that was Rain. It was odd, her chakra power was flickering between strong and weak, and then suddenly it flared, almost freezing Mistress in her tracks. It came from the village center and it was there that Mistress turned. Walking on water came naturally to her as she ignored the canals that separated the spiral of roads. Then she paused. She did not want to be having the fight in the middle of the village. Many nice buildings for Rain to control. It would be nice if she could have the fight somewhere more open... like.. well, where the Harbor had been. Sure, there was lots of earth. There was also lots of sea.

Her mind made up, Mistress made the hand seal and a mizu bunshin appeared. She sent the bunshin to the library, while she herself retreated to the harbor.

rain appeared in the twon square. She could smell the stench of Mistress but it was distant. She had already passed this area quite a while ago...good. Rain began to look about the area. While her memory of Kiri was good, she still had a few new places to log away in her memory banks. Of course, they probably wouldn't be there for long but still, she liked to memorize thins like this. That's why her attack on Iwa was as successful as it was.

Looking around, she saw a small stall starting to close up. A little old woman was closing up the shop to begin evacuation. It was a map stand and, obviously, with the harbor gone there wouldn't be too many new visitors in the area. Rain figured this would be the best way to aquire a vast amount of knowledge of Kiri in a short amount of time.

Rushing up to the stand, she began to call out in a sweet, innocent voice, "Oooh, oh ma'am. Please wait. I'd like to see a map please..."

"Child...this place is under attack, you must surly know that."

"oh, yes ma'am I do. But you see, I have a friend who told me that he was going to check on some people nearby but he's late. I'm pretty new here so I don't know where he is and I get lost so easily. Could I possibly have a map please..."

"..." the woman looked Rain over..."3 million yen..."

"WHAT?! THAT"S HIGH SEAS ROBBERY!!"

"Take it or leave it deary...I ain't got all night."

"Oh please...I just need to see the map quickly...I'll return it...please?!"

The woman looked Rain over for a moment and soon took a deep sigh. She reached into the cart that held the maps and handed one to Rain.

Rain smiled delightfully and took the map quickly. She began to uncurl the object as if it was a thing of great importance. Placing it upon the ground, she looked it over and began to retrace her steps...her path was pretty clean cut so far but there were so many options...and if the Mistress had already tracked her that meant she didn't have a lot of time. Rain knew she had to move quickly and have as much fun as possible before Mistress simply went on the offenseive...but why didn't see do it just then?

At any rate, Rain poored over the map and began to plot out her route for maxximum damage. The housing district was on this same street and she decided to have some fun there. In the end, all the poeple she ahd hurt or maimed would be taken to the Hospital...that's where she'd wind up her fun. With a grin, Rain began to laugh a bit histerically. The woman had started to back up, "Umm...dearly, you ok?' were the words Rain heard but they were inconsequential coming from an old corpse. A spray of blood landed on the map after Rain sheithed her kunai.

The old womans head fell onto the map, cut at the throat. Rain simply smiled and used the old womans clothes to wipe her face of blood. She then tied the head up in the map and put it on a stick o make it easier to carry and soon began to frolic off towards the center of the square.

She lept tot he top of a statue that was there and looked to the fleeing people. She grinned a bit as she looked on for a longer period of time. Her feet struck the ground hard and loudly. A few people stopped to look up at the woman who had Henged herself into a costume of a circus performer.

She smiled as she looked down and looked over the people and began to speak with quite the enthusiasm.

"Ladies and gentlemen please,
Would you bring your attention to me?
For a feast for your eyes to see.
An event of catastrophe.

Like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
Watch closely as I open your souls.
Your jaws will be on the floor.
After this you’ll be begging for more."

She began to pace back and forth. What the people didn't know was that they were being placed under her spell. This was a form of Coil...a deadly genjutsu she had perfected...not that safe for those of weak minds and franticy people were the worse...

She began to dance around and a slight song came to her voice as she spoke the next part...

"Ladies and gentlemen, good evening.
You’ve seen that seeing is believing.
Your ears and your eyes will be bleeding.
Please check to see if you’re still breathing.

Hold tight, cause the show is not over.
If you will, please, move in closer.
You're about to be bowled over.
By the wonders you’re about to behold here."

many of the people, shinobi and citizen alike had fallen under her spell. They began to sway and dance to her words as more and more began to fall to her power. Her army was growing as she spoke thse words and looked around the place.

Within moments, Rain had moved ehr hands into a set of hand seals and formed the seals Doton: Retsudotensho. Her supply of rocks? Why the very stones that supported the buildings and structures around her. Of course, she didn't have the stones attack just yet. She still had a bit to go, to make sure she had as many soldiers as possible.

"Ladies and gentlemen!!

Do you want it?
Do you need it?
Let me hear it.

Ladies and gentlemen!!"

With one thunderous roar from her new follows, they all fell to the ground. Not unconcious but by following an order of hers that reached to their very minds. All those that weren't under her spell...were dead. Giant rocks both sharp and blunt crushing and piercing your flesh will do that to you. In the end, only her new followers were left.

With a smile, she would wink to her followers and give them their orders...oh to see the horrors of the hospital as an army of their own friends and family marched on them..ahhh such sweet dreams. But she had more important things to do. With the army heading the long way around, it'd take them a while to reach the hospital and so Rain had to send more to the slaughter. And so she was off...

In the center of the village square, a glowing purple star began inscribing itself on the ground, before being circumscribed by seals and the image of a bird with feathers of gold and crimson blurred into view. From the center seal circle, more seals extending in a radial formation around before three other stars burned into the ground, circumscribing before her transported passengers blurred into view. Kousei had known transporting multiple people would’ve been more straining, so it was fortunate that the reverse-summoning ceremony was a success the first time around.

Touzoku frowned, trying to remember the ANBU records he saw this morning. “About forty shinobi missing.” He said to Rei. While it seems like a small number, Touzoku knew better. It was a significant portion of Suna’s forces. “Twenty-five Chuunins missing, including both rookies and older. Less Jounins though, only fifteen.” A worried look flickered over the raven-haired ANBU’s face as he eyed the mess of destruction around the village, which Touzoku knew was perfectly beautiful only less than a month ago.. “But I expect there are ones already dead. We will have to split up and meet back here. Kousei can come with me and search from the air while you with Kore on the earth.

While Touzoku had Isshiki's seal to shove into disbelieving fellow Suna shinobi's faces, Rei would have to drag them by force. Shouldn't be too hard with his lion partner...

[this is nighttime sleepiness bs but it holds the general gist @_@]

Andou was the first to arrive in the middle of the village. The rebuilt fountain was flowing and the constant sound of the spray of water somehow soothed his heart. Having seen Kirigakure destroyed firsthand, and also having absorbed most of the immediate terrible effects, Andou was now filled with a new appreciation for a stable, upright, running Kirigakure.

Also the buildings were back, business was still taking a while to restart. The warping of the island's geography, and the upsetting of the natural coral formation, meant that ships now had to take a far more treacherous route to actually reach the main island. Obviously, fewer ships were willing to take that risk. That was why ninja teams had been given a far bigger role than before.

Leaning against the fountain, Andou reviewed his papers once more. As de facto leader of Kiri (actually, one of the leaders now that Despada had finally decided to get politically active. Also, the old Mist Council was back, made up of previous members, as well as new, younger civilians) he had had to organise everything, which was why he had been so busy for the past month. It wasn't until the hiring of a few secretaries that his (paperwork) workload drastically decreased and he found it expedient to engage in some practical work. Thus, he built himself a team, since he may as well get some help and train the future generation along the way.

And today was the first day. His mind full of potential assignments, Andou hoped that the team would work together. He hadn't exactly given the make-up of the team much thought. In fact, he had decidedly been looking for the competent and actually alive shinobi, and these were the best three. At any rate, he would find out today whether they fitted with each other, and if they didn't, he would have to make them...

Kiketsu had awoken early. He was an early bird always, rising a few minutes before the sun. The platinum blonde man had given him an order to meet in the village to be part of a team. The snake like boy would rather some single training, but he would at least show up to see this team. Then if they proved unsatisfactory he’d leave or request to be switched onto a different team. As the small frame approached the village his mind pondered who the members would be. His brain wanted to have formed a team with Hiru, just to keep track of his dramatic increase in strength. If he couldn’t figure out his strength then the next time they fought the child of Poseidon would have the edge. The other member could have been anyone. Midoru came to mind, just because Kiketsu was most acquainted with her. Seeing his teacher the silent boy walked up giving a small bow. “Good morning sensei.”. Rising from the bow, lime eyes pivoted slightly to not see anyone else. His peers had not arrived as yet. “What are we going to do today? Also am I to be part of a team? Who are my teammates?”

"Morning," Andou answered offhandedly, reviewing some papers. They were statistics submitted by the civilians, detailing earnings of shops, as well as taxes collected from foreign merchants. Basically, financial stuff. It was all going over his head at the moment because, let's face it, Andou was not a thinker. He was more of a doer.

"You're going to accompany me on a task,"
Andou replied the boy. "Unless you can't swim. Then you'll be forced to watch from a side and teach yourself. Yes... and you'll see."

He wasn't really paying full attention to what he was saying right now as his mind was on the report. What he did do was look up briefly, to confirm that Shisei was actually there, and to scan around for the other two who were, as of now, late. "You know one of them," he did offer to Shisei, rather unhelpfully. He wouldn't be waiting much longer... they had corals to cut.

Shin would be walking up as Andou was speaking and thus only catch half of what their sensei was saying. Something about swimming somewhere to do something. He couldn't recall ever being forced to swim anywhere but to his doom and even then he just used his burly arms to propel himself forward. If there had been anyone but the waves and wind around to see him "swim" they would have been hard pressed to contain their laughter at his mockery of the word. In fact as far as he could recall the only one who had every really done any swim training had been that fishboy, Hiru. Back when Shin and Sanabi had been racing for food, the new student had been practicing his strokes in the water.

Maybe Andou had forgot that in his absence, his sensei hadn't seemed to be around this past month. While Shin had been recuperating and training, the strange man before him had been strangely absent. Though he wasn't about to ask what that was all about. Instead he'd extend a greeting before picking up on the little fact above that Andou seemed to have forgotten.

"Hey guys! Couldn't help but hearing something about swimming, which not many of us students can do. Probably because someone, and I'm not point any fingers, didn't teach anybody but Hiru how to do the breaststroke."

Of course he was pointing at Andou the whole way through, using his thumbs because by most people's definitions they weren't really fingers.
