Oh, Hellsing is good, I never bought the series, just watched subbed episodes from a stream. I'm far too poor to be able to support anime series like I'd like to.

That's how I watched it too... except only about half were subbed and half were dubbed.

This is from one of the OVAs (higher quality than the series, but unfinished). If you don't think this is awesome, you won't like Hellsing.

Thought I'd posted here earlier, so copy pasta:

Anime:
Basilisk
Bleach
Bokusatsu-Tenshi Dokuro-chan
Death Note
Fruits Basket
Full Metal Alchemist
Full Metal Panic
Full Metal Panic: Second Raid
Hellsing (original anime)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai
Ikkitousen
Naruto
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Samurai Champloo

Manga:
Basilisk
Category: Freaks
Death Note
Devil May Cry
Hellsing
Museum of Terror
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Ragnarök
Samurai Champloo

And Hellsing goes in this order: first came the animated series of 13 episodes, then the manga started being written (part 9 just came out this year in English) with a totally different story compared to the original anime. Then last of all came the OVA's that are done corresponding to the story of the manga. Now in my opinion the original anime was better than the OVA's; the drawing style and animation are better and I like the story. Now the OVA's, though sticking to the concept of the manga, are crap. I don't like the style, the atmosphere or the voice acting. Hence I've stuck to the manga, which still is the second most original of the three.

JUST MY OPINION. I know many who like the OVA's a lot. Though they are usually people who've A. not seen the original anime and / or B. haven't read the manga.

I've seen the original anime for Hellsing, but have not read the manga. The OVA's aren't bad, I've noticed the different style and I'm not very impressed with certain aspects, but still a good watch. I also really enjoyed the End of Evangelion as the ending to the anime series sucked, that did it some justice at the least.

Bah, fine, since all the cool kids are doing it...

My tastes in anime are pretty severely skewed towards sci-fi, particularly mecha. I freely admit to being a mecha nerd, and anyone that's been with me in MR for long enough would probably attest to this. N-E-WAIZ...these are all the anime I either own, intend to own very shortly, or have enjoyed at one point.

- Mobile Suit Gundam (everything except G Gundam, whatever the ******** SD Gundam was supposed to be, and the fabulously mediocre new Gundam Seed)
- SDF Macross and Macross Plus (NOT Robotech--that was a hatchet job localization of Macross for the US)
- Ghost in the Shell (original, SAC, and SAC:2nd Gig...Innocence was cack)
- The Big O
- Armored Trooper VOTOMS
- Jin-Roh
- Appleseed and Appleseed: Ex Machina
- Yukikaze
- Neon Genesis Evangelion + EoE (probably my single most obsessed over series)
- RahXephon
- Cowboy Bebop
- Grave of the Fireflies
- Gungrave
- Trigun (would love to find a boxed set that doesn't cost an arm and a leg)
- FLCL (same)
- The Last Exile
- Escaflowne
- Serial Experiments Lain
- Excel Saga (lulz)

I don't read manga. Never really appealed to me.

Man I can't believe I missed this! I love anime! Anime is just so awesome. I'll name some that I like.

Witchblade
Shakugan no Shana
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Black Lagoon (Top 5 for sure)
Samurai X
Baki the Grappler
Guyver (Both old and new series)
Excel Saga
Puni Puni Poemy
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (otherwise known as When they Cry)

And a bunch of others. I even made an amv recently. I'm not a super otaku but, I have to say that I absolutely LOVE Haruhi! It's definitely one of my favorite animes ever...this was probably the least metal post I've ever written, but I don't care biggrin . Anime is awesome.

Huh? My copy of End of Evangelion has an English dub and subs. Of course, it's a Region 1 DVD (North America only), so I don't know what options you guys in PAL-land have. As for Death & Rebirth, you're not missing anything--EoE rendered it useless.

@Scorch: Well, that's a good thing, because I find the otaku crowd generally insufferable.

Well said.... well said....

Death and Rebirth was just essentially a recap of the entire series wasn't it? With EoE being the true ending, was it not? I believe that's what I remember...

I've made a couple of AMVs as well... but mostly to put metal to cool battle scenes, as well as most of mine aren't done in the typical fashion, I try to make it show the full fight from start to finish instead of trying to lip sync so much, or just show cool scenes. The one I made for bleach is 32 mins and 19 seconds, with songs such as Raining Blood by Slayer and The Root of All Evil by Dream Theater.

and EoE subbed in english and streaming in 2 parts with good quality

Scorch - You should watch Higurashi no Naku Kori ni Kai, it's the sequel in which you find out how messed up things REALLY are in the village of Hinamizawa. Oh, and it gives a logical ending with answers. The first series left me all WHAT THE ******** in the end.

Ash - I've tried to download the films, but without luck. And we can get a DVD box set with the whole series + the films... for a neat price of almost 200€. So, no thanks. And we're PAL region 2. I think it's for most of Europe/Northern Europe.

Wow good to see this topic hasn't died hehe.

I have took somewhat of a hiatus from anime and recently gotten back into it. Been watching Kenichi and Tenjho Tenge (sp?).

So what do you all think of the remakes that are comming out like Dragonball Kai and the new Full Metal Alchamists?

I've seen EVERY series of the Higurashi series. I need to start watching Umineko, but I've seen all the episodes of Higurashi, even Rei (That's the OVA for it). That's another series that I always tell people to watch.
