She frowned slightly, inclining her head to stare up at the treetops above them. "Well... I suppose I could try at least. I won't promise anything... But we-"

Dundundundun- (*Shot.. kills Jaws theme*)
Deep in the waters of the energy drink bog, a rather large fish was swimming too and fro, probably made out of some kind of super sour candy, an opposite of it's gummy cousins. It darted contently through the yellowish liquid, until it conviently glanced up to see Calypso's tail twitching back and forth... Yummy. A licorice worm? It looked rather exotic... The fish didn't seem to notice the body it was connected too, since it was floating calmly in the water..
CHOMP!
Calypso, having not heard the theme music, wasn't expecting anything when she felt the tiny teeth on the tip of her tail. A high pitched scream filled the swamp, sending birds flying from their perches high in the trees. A series of large splashes later, and the female found herself clinging to the large male's shoulders, tail flopping back and forth with the fish still attached to it.
"Get it off! Get it off, GET IT OFF!"

Surprised by her sudden scream, Equis reached his claws up, putting them under her elbow to support her in the water if she needed. and blinked at her in surprise, eyes wide.
"what?"
he glanced down, and noticed a color on her that had not been there before. cocking a brow he pulled the panicking Calypso closer to his chest so he could reach out and grab whatever it was that was attacked to her tail. but in the fizzing and splashing Energy Drink it was hard to get a handle on it
"alright hold on" he growled impatiently, having had it slip from his fingers several times.
he started to swim toward the shore. climbing back up he cradled farther away from the liquid, sat her down, and with a powerful stamp drove his claws into the side of the fish's neck.

Calypso continued to cling to him, her paws hooked around his neck as she wiggled and flopped around, whimpering and whining over dramaticly.
How dare it! Oh.. her poor tail, how dare it! Her precious tail... She whined loudly.. desperately for him to get it off. When the male's claws finally plundged into the fish, it went still, it's jaws's grip loosening slightly. Enough for her to throw it off into the water anyway. She coiled up after finally letting go of him, turning to look over her tail franticly. She gripped it between her paws, looking at the tip... Then let out a long, mournful cry.
"Nooo! That damn thing! My taaail!" She whined, turning her back to him and holding her once fluffy and shiny tail close to her chest, hiding it from view.

he watched the fish as it plopped limply back into the bog. floating, and completely dead at the surface. they didn't have fish like that in the deeper parts. the lighter arias seemed to have less of a danger as well. huh.
when he looked back at Calypso she was already curled up. reaching a claw over to step over her, and putting it over her shoulder he pulled her gently to move her around
"are you hurt? let me see"

"No! Don't look at it!" She tensed and glared up at him, curling up more to hold her tail under her, so he couldn't see. She turned again, glancing down at her tail again. She sniffed, them whimpered. Tears dripped from the fur on her cheeks, though he'd barely be able to tell... Since her fur was already soaked and dripping with energy drink.
All and all... it really wasn't that bad. Nothing that wouldn't heal, anyway. A few inches from the tip of her tail was a small ring of bite marks, only a bit of blood dripping from them. It wasn't the pain that was making her paniced... The fur around the marks had been gnawed off, so that it was noticably shorter than the rest of the fur. One small flaw, one imperfection.
And it made her sick.
"I'm fine... Just go away, I don't want you to see it!"

"on come on, I've seen worse." who knew she would be so touchy about letting him see her wound. he could not help but grin slightly, it reminded him much of how a child would react.
but he backed off like she asked, pulling his claw away and sitting down next to her.
"you're luck that one was a small one... almost pathetically small"
he grinned.

She continued to sniff and sob over her mauled tail, not speaking for a few minutes. After a few sniffs, she glanced over at him, glowing eyes sparkling with tears. "Oh shut it!" She snapped, glaring lightly. "It was huge! It almost ate me! And my tail...." She looked back to it, ears drooped enough that they pressed against her head. "My beautiful tail... How can I go into public like this...?"

after a surprised pause, the large Numa let out a loud laugh.
"oh come now Calypso, it can't be that bad. little guppy like that. you're tale will heal in no time. I'm sure you can't even tell"
he raised one of his claws, and scratched his dripping chin
"besides, I'm sure with you're little fish there, they'll make it look as good as new. heh?""

When the male laughed, it only fueled to her annoyance. She turned to him, fur on her back standing on end. "It's not funny!" She barked, like a little flustered pup.
"My fish can't work miracles, and make things appear where they arent!" She tilted her nose up and huffed. "You can tell that the fur has been torn off! It looks horrible! How can you say that it doesn't??" She darted her tail up, the tip in front of her so he could see it clearer.

standing back up, his claw darted back across her body, thudding down powerfully, his dark eyes staring down at her, his large frame nearly blocking the canopy above.
"calm down" he said in a slow gruff voice. "it will grow back. and I hardly think" he started smirking and lowering his face a bit towards hers "that it will take away from you're allure at all"
the powerful beast stood strong, almost protectively over her. he could easily crush her if he wanted to, but that was far from his mind.

She gasped and yelped as she was pushed down onto the soft ground, eyes wide as they stared up at him. A flash of panic washed over her, until she realized that there wasn't any more pressure coming from his paws. She still wiggled though, a bit uncomforable under his grasp, his body heavy above her's.
When his face lowered to her's she blinked slowly, eyes still wide but not with fright. The glowing orbs flickered away, then back to him. She stared, slightly entranced. His body was siloetted (sp? x.x) against the treetops, the only light brightening his face were his markings, making his fur seem like a blakc pearlestant color. After a moment of blinking up at him she cleared her throat, then sighed. "Fine... I'm calm... Happy now..?" Her voice was soft now, all anger and panic gone from it.

normally he would have moved, but he rather enjoyed being this closer to her, and something about the submission he was getting from her because of it. smiling back at her, he lifted his face back up,
"never realized how small you are... ah well.. dainty more the word" he added playfully, tilting his head to the side as he looked down at her.

She blinked up at him, then grinned slowly. "Dainty...?" I've never heard that one before..." Forgetting the tail for a moment, she just grinned up at him slyly. "Well, I suppose I am. Especially to you..." She raised a paw to place on his chest, leaning up to lick his cheek. "You're so large and powerful..." Oh how horrible she was. Such a tease.

his stance tensed a bit as she said that posturing impressively. lifting his claw to the right of her and flexing it
"it serves me" he said with a smirk "especially in the depths"
he felt his spine tingle as she licked him. a growl of a purr drumming in his chest. turning his head to nuzzle his muzzle slightly on her neck.

"Yes.. it does..." She purred, batting her eyelashes slowly up at him. She purred softly as he nuzzled her, enjoying the affection. She nuzzled him in return, her cheek rubbing against his glowing horns. After a moment she pulled away though, but still laying down. She didn't want to ruffle her fur.. it would already dry oddly with being wet and all.
"Well, is there anything else in the swamps you wish to show me before I leave?"
