Chia-Purin - when a native speaker compliments you This means you're not good enough yet. wink It's something of a cultural thing; native Japanese speakers will comment 上手ですね about foreigners who can speak the language at all, until you get good enough that they can't tell that you're not a native speaker yourself -- at which point they stop complimenting you and start talking to you normally.

CandlelightsChaos When your in a foreign language class, other than Japanese, you reply to everything that the teacher says with Japanese, but on accident. (( I have a tendancy to do this in my spanish 2 class.))(I do this on German class XD LOL it was quite embarrassing when it was a yes-or-no question, and you know that 'ja' is yes and 'nein' is no, but in Japanese! 'Iie' or 'Je' or 'Ja' could all mean no XD And of course I said it in Japanese >.<) You know you've been studying Japanese too much when you check everyone's pens and upper clothes if they have Japanese characters on it, and start to translate it immediately [XD]

Eijay When you start ending sentences in yo or ne. In french. stare Ha! Yes. I do that in English alot. I've even started doing that in Gaelic. You also know you study Japanese too long when you start to see hiragana and kanji EVERYWHERE. You also know when your native accent/language starts sounding more and more like Japanese. ^-^;

When people all around start mistaking you to be Japanese, just because you say something simple, like "Ohayoo gozaimasu." People mistaken me to be Japanese all the time, even when I just ask them to guess what my race is...

neo_girl_12 when your writing somthing in English or Romaji and start writing in Hiragana(this is me cause im in Japanese 1 at my school) I hate romanji so when my sensei asked me to write in romanji it was hard because I kept writing in Hirigana or katakana, depending on what ever it was I was writing.
