Love it. I think LP is doing a good job at being political because they can say stuff without being like greenday and carry on a song without meaning and then throw in "******** bush" here and there. I think the Video was amazingly done, with the comparisons of culture and stuff. Rock on forever LP.

PurpleBubble So today, Linkin Parks brand new Single from Minuets to Midnight entitled What I've Done came out. For those of you who have heard it already, I would like to know what you think. Love it? Hate it? Indifferent? Think they could do better? Not Hard enough? Beautifully done? I heard WID this morning on my way to school and personally, it ruined my day. I was very disappointed. I found it very generic and mainstream with uninspiring lyrics. To be even more honest, I felt like crying. Chester sings the entire song, which I do not have a problem with. But I do have a problem with his quality of singing. Anyone who has listened to My December, Push Me Away, Easier to Run ect. knows the beautiful perfection of Chester Bennington's singing. This song does not show that at all.
However, Warner Brothers chooses the singles, NOT LINKIN PARK. Therefore, Im willing to bet the rest of the album is not so BLAH and average. I hope the album changes my thoughts, because right now, Im ready to kill Rick Rubin. EDIT BY MEL: Video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12gDr5ojFmo&mode=related&search=
I like the vid because it's all I stand for. The song ******** up my day >.O Um first off on youtube they had an interview and said that LP did in fact choose the songs. On top of that the album is SYMBOLIC not EMO. Meaning that this album has a new set of songs and each song represents a feeling that all of has have expereinced in the past. From DAY ONE Linkin Park has been a symbolic band. Just b/c they sing songs that are not the same doesn't mean anything. They changed their style because Hybrid Theory and Meteora were a story. Minutes to Midnight is a project that the band did so they all put in 100% and as Mike put it "Their two sense" into making the album which is something that the previous albums DID NOT HAVE. For those who do not like the new stuff get over it. LP is going to keep changing b/c they are a symbolic band. The new album is to have each song represent a different feeling or emtion or sacred time in one's life. I personally think it is beautifully done and they did an awesome job on it. They even stated they wanted the album to be more organic more raw and stripped down and true to music. They did just that. You guys are to love LP and support them as a group for who they are not their sound. I love the new album and it's precisely what I expected after I heard "Walking Dead" And "The Morning After" And I like the new album a lot. You guys really need to do your research on your favorite band here ^^;; You don't seem to. Read some reviews and watch some interviews and stop being lazy so you guys know what is actually going on and what the band actually means most people think that if a band has "Emo" lyrics then the band is emo that isn't always the case some bands like LP are strictly symbolic. Also this new album IS NOT mainstream emo or whatever, if they were they'd be extremely depressing. And even that doesn't qualify (I.E. Numb, In The End, etc.) Also as far as What I've Done goes listen to SomeWhere I Belong and My December and think about the words in those songs and how closely related they are to What I've Done. LP has always had lyrics that follow the same strong meanings in Minutes to Midnight. Listen to the true tones and lyrics of the previous songs and relate them to the new album, you'll begin to find that it is still in fact LP's lyrical sounds as well as their talent. I'm not trying to be harsh I just wish people would think things through before critizing our favorite band here ^^;; Ok?

Actually, when I first heard WID, I really loved it. The lyrics spoke to me, and it kinda reminded me of forgiveness and redemption, which both are redeeming qualities, and hence, I fell in love with the song. I also liked the musical arrangements, especially the begining part, then all the instruments coming in at the center. It definately was one of my favourite songs.

It really surprised me.. I didn't like it at first, but it eventually grew on me. :] The style was shocking at first! While I was listening to it, I was thinking that aaannny moment now, there was going to be some rap or a bridge or something.. So that was kinda shocking/disappointing? But I still like the way Chester sings it.. And his coolness in the video. ;]

Yeah . . . rap . . .
I do wish there was rapping in the song though. I mean, it's the rap that makes them interesting, and to not have rap would be quite boring. Mike would be a better rapper than a back-up singer.
However, Chester is still top form, so good for him!

The song is really good but I still prefer some of the older stuff....but I find they made a good choice with picking this song to be the first single. It's different but they're showing everyone that they are still Linkin Park and not some totally changed band.

Oh well, at least they still SOUND Linkin Park. That's what matters, otherwise they'll end up alienating their fans because of fast changes. They still sound really good though, and some of the songs on Minutes to Midnight are masterpieces.

Yeah . . . the music video was amazing! It had all the problems of the world inside there, and it was kinda like a guilt trip for me. I mean, sure, I have problems, but there would always be someone in more suffering than you. A good lesson to learn, for me at least.
Man, they were awesome! I think my liking for them has increased tenfold!
