Mishu grinned. "I'll pass on your lap but I'll have a seat over here. She sat on a chair and leaned on the table, drinking her whiskey." She nodded to Iris and then listened to the puppy exchange, grinning. Not what you'd find in a snooty establishment, but they just might be more fun.

She turned to Remiel. "If your the puppy do you want a belly rub?" She finished the drink and waited for his response. She barely noticed that she'd already had three drinks now and she'd only been there a few minutes. She needed to tone it back. No sense going down dad's route, was there?

Aww! No introduction for Meshach. Ah, well. He can introduce selfy.

Meshach glanced over at Mishu and shot his companions a Look. It wasn't exactly one of those easy-to-make-sense-of looks, because he, himself, had no idea what he was trying to convey with it. Perhaps, am I invisible?, but perhaps not.

"I'm Meshach," he said, when it became apparent he was not going to be introduced by the loquacious Mal. It was becoming equally apparent that Silence was either ignoring him or deliberately finding more work to do so that she wouldn't have to talk to him.

In truth, Silence just had a lot of work to do. The people were ordering drinks, and it was her job to bring them to them. Of course, everyone seated with Meshach except the woman who kept ordering whiskeys got free drinks until Kaisa's money ran out. Perhaps she ought to tell them how much they had left to spend?

"Excuse me," she said. "I thought you might want to know that you've been bequeathed enough money for about four more rounds, unless you decide to be particularly extravagant."

Her message delivered, she lingered a little to see if anyone wanted to take advantage of that fact.

Iris shook her head at Mal's little introduction, patting him on the back. "I would apologize, but...I'm not sorry. Don't steal my drink, and I won't make you sad."

She just....giggled at the puppy comment. Poor, poor Rem.

"Nice to meet you, Mishu. Though I warn you that these two are quite a handful. Especially Mr. Puppy. Just wait until Mal pulls out a squeaky toy." she said with a small grin, putting a humorously apologetic look in Rem's direction. She simply couldn't resist helping to embarrass him.

Mal continued smiling, apparently not at all bothered that his offer of his lap as a seat had been rebuffed. In truth, he hadn’t introduced Meshach because he simply didn’t know the man well enough. Oh, and because he hadn’t thought of a funny thing to say about him. Except maybe something about virgins, but that was a bit too sensitive.

“You owe me a future drink,” he informed Iris. “You have absolutely no proof that I took your drink.” Well, except that he was the only possible suspect because Rem didn’t drink and Meshach didn’t seem like the sort to steal someone’s drink.

“Yeah, Remmy loves his squeaky toys,” Mal said with that particular type of smirk that insinuated he had just said something particularly dirty, but no one got the joke. He tended to give that sort of smile a lot. Heh. Squeaky toys…

By the look on Rem’s face, he didn’t get it either. He simply looked confused. “If you say something about me being a bad puppy and needing to be put on a leash…” he trailed off, wondering if Mal had even been thinking about that. It was so difficult to keep up with that sort of mind.

“Don’t be silly, Rem,” Mal said, taking another sip of his drink. Winking at the others, he informed them, “He only gets the leash if he’s a particularly good puppy.”

Iris rolled her eyes. "Of course, Mal. And I'll be sure to get myself one as well. And then conventiently walk away so that - when I get back - I won't have a drink anymore! You're saving me from alcoholism, I completely understand now!"

Iris. Alcoholic. Hah.

She remained silent as Rem was further bothered by Mal, deciding that one comment was enough to keep the rest of them going. If it went silent again, she'd just make another! Thankfully, she doubted it would go silent. The woman looked up at Silence and smiled sweetly. "Well, considering that Mal might hate me otherwise, I'll cover another round for us. All of us, that is."

There. Booze-obligation fulfilled.

She then glanced to Meshach, inclining her head in his direction. "Forgive me for a possible intrusion, but I'm guessing that you know our lovely server here?"

Meshach smiled at Iris' humor. He could learn to like the young woman quite easily. She kind of reminded him of Silence when she was in one of her better moods. Mal's humor was beyond him, but for the knowledge that Mal was definitely being dirty. He needed to learn more about this time to understand the jokes, however.

Silence watched the woman's lips carefully. She assumed that the boisterous one was Mal. He looked like a Mal, for whatever reason.

"That's really not necessary, as your next several drinks - all of your next several drinks - have been paid for in advance, but if that's what you want to do." Silence was not used to dealing with specie still, but she assumed that a person might not want to spend money that they didn't have to spend.

Meshach was a little startled by the question Iris directed at him. Actually, he was very startled by it. He hadn't realized that anyone had noticed his interaction with Silence. Certainly Silence seemed interested in pretending that she didn't know him.

"I do know her," he agreed in an undertone. There was no intrusion there. Everyone else knew, except the newest newcomer, Mishu. He didn't see any harm in that. "Why do you ask?"

Mishu allowed herself a leash at the squeaky toy comment, then a larger one with the leash. She decided she liked this group. "I may get out the leash for you even if you're not a good dog," she said in a faux-comforting voice to Rem. "If that's what you like, that is."

She smiled and refused the drink. "Three is enough for one day, I think. Perhaps more than enough."

She leaned back in her chair and set her feet up on an empty one nearby, crossing her legs as she did. She stretched back and asked, "What does one do here besides drink and argue all day?"
PostPosted: Tue Aug 07, 2007 6:06 am

Meshach had no idea what the answer to Mishu's question was. He was new to town, himself. He supposed some people, like Silence, worked. He didn't think he was really all that well-suited to working, though he might have to do a little here and there to make ends meet. At least until he could get back to his cache and pick up some material wealth.

"Why would anyone want to do more than drink and argue?" he mused.

"Well... there's also sex and dancing." She grinned

"I was just wondering what the local amusements are, is all."

She dabbed her finger in a tiny pool of spilled liquor, moving it around in designs on the table. Gotta remember not to lick this finger, she noted. Who knows what the hell this was or who put it there

The streets were utterly boring. Nothing different than any other semi-large, or crowded city. Now would be a good time for a drink, but with two griffons in tow, well most places didn't seem so happy to let him in.

The 'he' in question has most of his form covered by a dark travelworn cloak, or for alll anyone knew it could also have just been a red sheet draped over his head. Beneath that nothing much can really be determined, other than the fact that he had a flat chest meant he was male.

Walking at his feet, nearly tripping him a few times was a small bundle of black fur and feathers or a griffon chick whichever name someone wanted to use. Just behind him was a largre, fully grown white griffon with a peculiar yellow crest of plumage, and some grey markings down her back. Never was griffon-sitting for his brother the most.. enjoyable past time. "Aisha.. keep Nut out of trouble, I spotted a place that looks promising." Of course, the griffon wouldn't understand a word he was saying but.. well he didn't feel like talking to himself. Casting a puzzled look at the sign over the building and wondering just what a penguin was supposed to be, he walks up to the door.

(Meh, I feel as if this post was lacking..)

“Of course I am!” Mal balked at the accusation that his intentions in stealing Iris’s drink were anything less than noble. “Iris, Iris, Iris… I’m surprised at your baseless accusations. You know me better than anyone---barin’ Remmy here--- and you should know that I never take someone’s drink unless I have a good reason for it.”

Of course, in his mind ‘because it’s there’ counted as a good reason. So did other things, such as, ‘I was thirsty’, and ‘she wasn’t watchin’ it, so it’s free game’.

Mal grinned at Mishu, deciding that he liked this woman. She had a good sense of humor, which, in his mind, meant slightly dirty without constantly saying ‘tits’ or ‘p***s’. “Besides argue and drink? Well… if you come ‘round at the right time, you get to see Shirtless o’Clock. That’s not great, ‘less Remmy here loses his shirt---”

Rem blushed deeply at Mishu’s leash comment. Well, he had walked right into it… or, rather, Mal had led him into it. “Which reminds me, Mal, you have got to stop stealing my shirts… it’s embarrassing…”

Mal ignored him and continued, “And Shirtless o’Clock is followed by the No Pants Dance…”

“Which no one other than Mal participates in,” Rem cut in.

“And then there’s Naked Time!” The dark-haired man grinned broadly as if presenting the cherry on top of a sundae.

“Since when is there a Naked Time?” Rem demanded, looking at his friend incredulously. It was a look that he often wore whenever he was around Mal. Hmm… wonder if there was some sort of correlation between the two…

“Since about three minutes ago,” Mal retorted, sticking his tongue out at Rem.

Rem sighed, deciding that he wouldn’t go down that road, or try to discover why Naked Time suddenly existed. Chances are, Mal wasn’t being serious… was he? It was hard to tell with him. “Anyway… in all seriousness, there are things to do. There are gryphon races. And I think there’s some sort of gryphon show coming up in a month or so… but, that’s in a different city.”

Iris nodded at Silence - it was indeed what she wanted to do. It would get her back on Mal's good side better than anything else.

"Your good reasons are questionable, Mal. I, knowing you as well as I do, know that much."

She allowed the others to talk, laughing at Rem's continued embarrassment. Mishu was indeed a fun one, a good match for Mal's continued innuendos. Naked Time? Ooooh dear. Shirtless O' Clock and No-Pants-Dance she could tolerate, but Naked Time was just a bit too far. Not like Mal would actually do that this publicly. Shane would likely laugh, and then kill him for scaring away the other customers.

...things to do?

"There's shopping." she piped up, giving an innocent grin. Whaaat, she liked spending money!

"Oh, and Meshach? I was asking purely for the sake of knowing," she began, dark eyes moving to watch him kindly. "I had a feeling you did, that is all."

Silence nodded once in response to Iris and went off to fetch replacement drinks for everyone. She wondered what the bar was like when it was actually open, as opposed to just having the people who were inside before opening hours, for whatever reasons. She supposed they were in there because Shane didn't mind having customers whenever they showed up, as long as they were paying for their drinks.

Meshach turned his head from watching the exchanges between the others to look at Iris once more.

"Your instincts are good," he said to her. "And knowledge is something which should always be pursued."

As he said this, his eyes gleamed in a way which must have been somewhat disconcerting. He had a different view of knowledge than most people. He was one who liked to know everything because, until recently, he had had the time in his life to learn everything, given the opportunity. He was finding it limiting to only dedicate himself to those things which directly effected him, but that was, he knew, the human way.

Silence returned with drinks and did not spare him a passing glance but to take away his empty glass and put a new one in its place. That was really enough. Meshah, like most creatures, hated to be ignored, as he was certain Silene was doing, though in actuality she was simply distracted.

He reached across the counter in a lightning fast movement that she couldn't evade and caught her wrist. He pulled her closer with that leverage and kissed her soundly on the lips. When he pulled away, he mouthed very clearly, Don't ignore me.

If looks could kill, Silence's glower might have done for Meshach in a spectacular manner. Unfortunately, looks did not kill, but that did not make them completely ineffectual. Especially in Silence's case.

"I've told you before, Meshach, that nice people don't behave that way," she hissed. "And before you remind me that you're not a nice person, let me ask you one thing. Pretend."

Stunned, because she had never reacted so acidly befoer, Meshach was silent, unable to form any protestation. It occurred to him that Iris' question was answered now beyond a shadow of a doubt: he knew Silence, and she despised him.

"Naked time sounds like a great time of day, provided I get to watch and tip," Mishu grinned. "Though I'd be worried about you being embarrassed, Mal, during the no-pants dance. I mean, what if you don't have enough to offer?"

She glanced at the table. She had drawn a little bunny head with the drops of water there. She raised an eyebrow and then wiped it aside.

"Now shopping. That's an idea I can get behind. I haven't bought new clothes in days. If you know the best places, Iris, I'd love it if you showed me around."

After some concideration, and stepping closer to indeed hear conversation of some sorts within, he decides to enter. The adult griffon, Aisha as he'd called her, followed the sounds of other griffons to enter the yard.

He opens the door to head in, not noticing that the black chick stuck by his feet and followed him inside the bar. "Am I right in assuming this place is open?" Welll, it was best to ask just in case. Most bars were never opened so early that he knew of.
