Hajari's eyes grew a little wider as she explained the benefits of speaking to other kinder, realizing she was right. He bit at the inside of his lip subconsciously as he thought about it, pale green eyes sliding to the floor without him realizing it. "But... if they're mean, what do I do? I don't know why I have trouble talking to people, but it's annoying," he said, starting off unsure and ending with a grin.

He turned away from Lester as Sybil asked him who Serebro was and he gave an innocent smirk. "Serebro is the fish that Lester caught. I helped pull him in, because he was really big and heavy. We named him Serebro because Lester said it means 'silver' in Russian!" he chirped, bouncing slightly, feeling proud that he knew something like that. "He's in a fish tank over there. Would you like to see him?" he asked, pointing at the fish tank in back of him as he spun around. He peeked back up at Lester as he waited for both their answers on the matter.

Gingitsune smiled as Alida held her hand out, accepting it by tucking her head under her outstretched hand. Her ears folded back comfortably and she sat herself down; she wasn't going to be moving from this spot anytime soon!

MoogerMint's black-tipped ears perked up as Ritsu tried to speak, patiently giving him ample time to get his words straight. She smiled as he spoke, hoping that he would start feeling comfortable around them. She knew that would take some time, however, as they were a pretty rag-tag bunch, an odd sight to see. Not to mention the fact he was so shy, even more so than her son, and withdrawn.

Gingitsune rose her head slightly at the sound of her name, nodding once as she accepted his welcome whole-heartedly. "I'm glad you think so! Not many would welcome us outside of this area. I'm thrilled to hear you say that!" she barked happily, tail waving slightly in a dog-like wag.

Mikadzuki snorted at Gingitsune's reaction, thinking she was acting like she was just a pup. His gold eyes turned to Ritsu warily, but it was no use acting any differently. Why scare the poor kid? He seemed frightened enough as it was! "Same here," he said simply, but there was a chime to his voice as if he were trying to lift the kinder's spirits.

"I don't mind if you show Serebro to Sybil, after all, he might want some more friends" said Lester and then turned back to Zuko as a question was asked, "My families fine, Sarah spends her time on reading animal books and at mum's vet clinic, and Marfa either doozes off on the couch or is outside in the park, chasing pidgeons" he said.

Sybil shrugged. "If they're mean, you just ignore them. You only have to talk to people you want to. And if they follow you and are being mean, then tell Avery. Avery will go beat 'em up and make them stop." sybil said, repeating what Avery had told her. Rime and Alida weren't aware of this little pact, or they'd have ended it by now.

A curious light grew in Sybil's eyes as it was explained who Serebro was. "Let's go see?" she asked, her tail whipping from side to side.

Alida buried her hand in the thick fur, scratching and running her fingers through the fur. She brought up her other hand to do the same, and an unconscious smile was lighting up her face.

Ritsu brought his head up slightly, looking through his bangs as the wolves both spoke. "But... why wouldn't you be welcome?" he asked.

Avery made a face at the old underwear song. He knew full well she couldn't see his underwear. The shorts weren't that baggy! Then she climbed higher than him. What an affront!

"Not for long!" he said, and scampered around the tree till he could climb up higher, rather squirrel-like. Then he stuck out his own tongue. "Ha!" he exclaimed.

(( Blargh... long and eventful week. x_x; I tried to write this up yesterday night, but I was yanked from the computer rather abruptly. ))

Hajari's grin lessened as Sybil spoke, taking more effort to hear her out than to put up a smile. He scratched behind a feathered ear as he thought about it, then nodded sharply. "I'll try to do that. Thanks, Sybil," he said, trying to sound cheery though still a bit unsure if he could pull it off. It couldn't hurt to try, right?

As Sybil's tail began to wave at Lester's answer, Hajari couldn't help to laugh with excitement. "Yeah, let's go see!" he replied as he took her hand and led her over to the tank. Coming to the glass box's side, he released his grip and knelt down beside it, clinging to the uncovered edge and peeking in through the top. He was beaming with happiness, overall glad that he had come out to the lake today. "Hey, Serebro," he said with a partial high-pitch to his voice as he spoke. He motioned Sybil to come closer and backed his head away so she could peek in.

Gingitsune let out a deep-chested humming sound of pleasure as Alida scratched her head; if she were a cat, this would have been purring. Seeing Gin's pleasure and her inability to speak at the moment, Mikadzuki took up the duty of explaining to Ritsu their predicament. He sat up and shook his head free of dust and dirt, turning to face the human kinder. "Us wolves have grown to have a bad rep when it comes to the civilized populace. They've made fairy tales of man-eating wolves, plenty of which I'm sure you've heard of, and werewolves have made them less... accepting of us. You know how gossip can go around, but it's just that: gossip. Nothing more. From what I've heard others say, people don't even taste that good," he explained, ending with a slight smirk. As if he would ever try to harm someone.

MoogerMint nodded as she listened to him, remembering all of this. She usually had to stay pretty solitary when it came to other people, but this place... there were fantastic beings of all different shape and size, it was hardly something to be worried about. She waved a hand, adding in with a soft chuckle, "But that's all basically stuff from where I come from. It's not so much of a problem around here. People are more understanding in this area." She smiled, hugging her knees to her chest.

Sybil smiled back, and added, "Don't worry, Hajari, if they want to be mean, they have to be mean to both of us, right?" It was her way of saying she was on his side.

She ran after the little harpy, and knelt down to look at the big fish. "Woah, he's big!" she said, a bit awed. "He must be old!" she added with a nod.

Alida listened in on the explanation, and frowned. But she knew several werewolves, or at least of them, and though they were a bit more rough and tumble, they weren't bad.... she didn't stop scratching Gin's neck, though.

Ritsu blinked, and gave Mikadzuki a wide eyed look before realizing he was joking. But it was Mooger's comment that drew his next question.

"You're not... from here?" he asked, beginning to be a bit more drawn out. And he wouldn't have minded petting one of them, Gin looked like she was in bliss. But he wouldn't for the life of him have dared to ask.

Hajari's ears perked up as Sybil stated this, giving a quick, "Really?" It wouldn't have been too much of a surprise if he had stopped to think of it; she just seemed that supportive. He gave a quick laugh of glee, adding in a, "Thank you!"

Over by the fishtank, he leaned on a hand while the other one was still clenched over the rim of the tank, looking in from further away. He liked how the fish's scales shimmered with the light in a play of colors, and he wondered how the fish could do that. "You really think he's old? I don't see any wrinkles!" he joked, laughing. "Maybe he is! How big do fish usually get?" he asked. He knew much more of the traits of land and aerial critters, but fish was still a new concept to him. Even if his race had normally dined on such creatures, being 'abandoned' at such a young age he didn't get the chance to see many of them before today.

Gin was in pure bliss, not wanting such an act to end at all on such a day. She, for the most part, oblivious to the conversation. Mikadzuki shook his head as he realized this, wondering what had become of her wild instincts. She acted just like a domestic pup! But, after what they all had been through through the past couple years, they always could use the time to rest and recoup, as well as befriend worthy allies and friends. At least it couldn't hurt...

MoogerMint leaned her head on her knees held in front of her, giving a somewhat apologetic look as she remembered where she was from. "Well, I'm from Gaia, but I grew up in an area populated mainly by humans that looked down on what they considered "abnormal" species, or anything other than human that was sentient. You see, most of them were afraid of what they didn't understand or what didn't look as they did, and they would show it in different ways. As a result, I was ridiculed as well, being the kitsune I am. I left as soon as I was able, and came to this area where people like you and me were commonplace. I still go over there to visit my parents every now and again, and that's how my friends here know of it. They still treat me as they did back then, but you know how a child can never truly leave home," she explained with a smirk.

"But enough of that; it's all basically in the past, and I don't plan on stopping by there anytime soon. This place is too nice," she said with a wave of her hand. "How about you two? How have you had it here?"

The question stopped Alida's hand on Gin's fur, she seemed to freeze for a second, then her hand started up again as if nothing had happened, and she smiled over at Mooger. She reached for her notebook and gave Gin an apologetic glance as she stopped to write something down.

It's been okay. I keep my wings covered, but other than that, I can go about normally. It's not something Rime makes me do, but I just feel uncomfortable about the stares. And I remember, when I was a kid, someone said something that made Mom run away, holding my ears. I don't remember what, but it must have been bad.

She passed it to Mooger with a small smile, and then resumed her work on Gin's neck ruff.

Ritsu, on the other hand, started playing with the grass again, going over the same internal fight he always had when someone asked him about himself. Except this time it was also about his family... his old family, and that was always a very touchy subject.

"Well, I, uh... I guess... I guess it's been better since... since I moved in with Rime-san. My family, my real family... they..." and then he trailed off, unable to bring himself to say anything bad about them. They didn't mean anything by it, and he wasn't normal. He was cursed! But of course, he couldn't say that.

Sybil shrugged. "I dunno. I just thought got bigger and bigger and bigger. So if he's this big, he must be old. Maybe Lester knows?" she asked, and stared down at the fish.

Serebro seemed to not like the fact that two people were looming over him, and chose that moment to flip his tail, sending a spray of water. Sybil fell backwards, throwing her hands up to guard her face, but she didn't block it, not at all. She was now dripping wet.

"Oooh, you... fish! I bet you think that was funny! Now I'm all wet!" she cried, looking down at her shirt, and wiping the water from her face with her sleeve.

(( Would've posted sooner, but I've been pretty sick this week. ^^; Sorry about that, Rime! ))

Gingitsune lifted an eye open as Alida paused in her scratching, sensing something was wrong. She turned to MoogerMint with a sideways glance before Alida continued for a brief moment. She looked at the young demon, trying to find anything displayed in her eyes, but she only looked at her apologetically from the pause in her massaging and took out her notebook. Gin smiled and nodded in a silent gesture to assure Alida that it was no problem.

MoogerMint snatched the notebook up and read over the elegant writing, nodding as she understood. "I know how that can be. It makes me a bit nervous about how things will go for my son Hajari, over there, seeing as he can't very well hide his features very well. I hope he takes it well when he goes to school, but as of now this is the first he's ever really interacted with others. I wanted him to meet up with others from the BKAC out here before I enrolled him in school, but time is fleeting and I don't know how well he'll take it. It makes me kind of nervous when I think about the kind of things others like you have gone through. Hopefully he'll be able to find someone to help him through it all when things get bad..." she explained with a tweak to her mouth. Noticing the tone she left it on, she waved her hand and snickered a little, "Well, if things get bad for him!"

As Ritsu began to speak, MoogerMint's eyebrows raised but then furrowed at his response. However, she quickly smiled to him and batted at the air once more. "Don't worry about it, Ritsu! You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. Hajari won't even talk about what had happened before I camed to rescue him, so I'm used to not knowing. After all, some things are better left without knowing, right? The point is is that you have a good life now, and you should cherish the good times you have," she grinned widely, hugging her knees to her chest once again. Hopefully, that would loosen him up around her!

Mikadzuki looked surprised toward his pack leader, wondering what got her so in the mood to talk about herself and her family so much. She never seemed so open to strangers, though he could sense some sort of maternal instinct coming from her. She must've been just a mite too protective of them, and if she wasn't careful she might get a bit too close to them! The moon-marked wolf shook his head, a wry grin on his wolfish features. She can be so naive at times! Sometimes I wonder what makes her think she can even take care of a family...

Hajari cocked his head slightly to one side, studying the fish in the tank with a close gaze. "Maybe they do! Most things do, right? We could ask Lester! LESTER!?" he called, turning his head swiftly over to the satyr demon. His feathered tail bristled slightly at the raise in his voice, "Do fish keep growing as long as they live? How old do you think Serebro is?" He didn't seem too shy about raising his voice anymore, coming to terms with his calmness he felt around Sybil.

As Serebro splashed the water out of his tank at the two kinder children, Hajari turned his head back just in time to get a faceful of misty water. He held his hand up to block what else came, wing flapping a little in surprise, but ended up reacting a little too late as his arm remained dry. His pale green eyes flashed wide-eyed in confusion as he opened them again, turning to see a drenched Sybil on the other side of the tank. She had been just lucky enough to get the majority of the splash on herself, being in the area that Serebro had flicked his tail. "Serebro! You got Sybil wet! What do you have to say for yourself?" he tried to scold the fish, but it only looked up at him without expression, as all fish were prone to doing.

Feeling defeated, Hajari sighed and turned his attention back to Sybil. He rose and meandered over to her side, offering his hand to her. "I'm sorry about that," he apologized, feeling like it was at least half his fault. "Are you cold?" he asked, biting his lip as the wind picked up.

(( That's okay. I'm not in any great hurry. ^_^ You being healthy is way more important, anyway. ))

Alida followed Mooger's gaze to where Hajari and Sybil were currently getting drenched by a splash of water. She smiled as both the little half-breed and the little harpy tried scolding what she assumed was a fish. She reached for the notebook back, and added, Sybil has no fear, so I think he found a good choice for a protector.

She gave the notebook back, and moved her hands to Gingitsune's shoulders from her neck, continuing the massage.

Ritsu looked over at MoogerMint, grateful for the respite. He desperately didn't want to offend the woman, but he had an equal desire not to speak badly about his family. But she seemed to think that they had been bad, even though he hadn't said anything... He needed to defend them, and so he spoke up for them, as he wouldn't even consider doing for himself.

"They weren't bad. They weren't. They just thought I should be different." He sighed, and wondered to himself again why his mother and uncle had sent him away. Had he been that much of a disappointment? He liked to be here with Rime-san... but...

Alida looked over at him sympathetically. She didn't remember what her parents were like. But, since they were demons, and they weren't here, she could pretty well guess they weren't very nice, and she was better off where she was. Hell would have chewed her up and spit her out, she knew. Poor Ritsu, on the other hand, had a family that was not so far away, and indeed, some of them were still very much in reach. Most of them simply chose not to.

Sybil finished wiping the water from her face and giggled as Hajari scolded the fish, who didn't seem to care at all.

"It's not your fault, you're not Serebro!" the breeze cooled the water in her shirt and pants, and did make her shiver a little.

"Just a little... but the sun is still warm. Maybe it will dry fast." she suggested, and shivered again. She was so sensitive to cold!
PostPosted: Sat Apr 22, 2006 10:29 pm

Lester turned from Zuko and called back, "it depends on the fish, but I think Serebro won't grow any larger" and the next second he saw the two children being splashed with water, and without thinking raced towards them, giggling a bit because it looked funny. Taking off the towel that was still on his after the time he fell into the water, he held it for Sybil, because he had no further need for it and because Sybil was wet and might catch a cold.

(( *points at Were's sig* When did you get a squinty kitty? Are they open again? I've always wanted a squinty kitty! D: *makes grabby hands* ))

Sybil took the towel and wiped off her face and the front of her shirt as best she could, then wrapped the towel around her shoulders. "I wish the wind would stop," she said with a pout.

Eyes intently focused on the light ripples around her bobber in the water, Kaja lay on her stomach on the shore; her red hair was tied back with a bright bandana, peeking out of which could be seem a small green turtle; and a second turtle, slightly larger than the other one, perched on her shoulder. Both turtles seemed relatively unimpressed...but then, what did you expect when the subject was fishing? Kaja was quite intent, though...

(( Nyarr, it was my birthday this weekend and I couldn't get on. ^^ ))

MoogerMint's eyes turned back to Alida as she began to scribble down her words onto the notebook again. Taking the writing tablet with a smile, she read the words and laughed slightly. "Well, I suppose he has, then! This will settle his nerves some when he enrolls," she said with a nod, watching as the two of them got splashed. She rocked a bit, keeping herself from heading over there once she saw Lester take care of them.

"You are very good at this, Alida," Gingitsune mumbled through her wolf-like purr. Mikadzuki, upon hearing this, snickered and shook his head.

As Ritsu continued to speak, Mint gave the child a crooked smile. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say they were. I'm sure they love you very much, and have their own reasons for doing what they did. I'm sorry if it sounded like I was putting them down," she explained, leaning back on a palm.

Hajari crouched down, leaning on a grass-stained knee as he helped to dry her off with Lester's towel. "Yeah, but maybe I did something to make him do that," he said, biting his lip slightly. Turning to the satyr at his side, he added with a smile, "Thanks Lester."

Seeing Sybil shiver with cold, Hajari couldn't help but feel bad for what happened. Without thinking, Hajari unzipped his vest and took it off, wrapping it around Sybil's wet shoulders. Hopefully it would warm her up more than the towel alone could do. At Sybil's comment about the wind, Hajari smiled, relaxing a bit over her condition.

Noticing the red-headed demon out a ways down the lakeside, Hajari's eyes darted quickly back to trying to warm up Sybil. Another new kinder... he wished he wasn't so nervous, and hoped that if they did go over that he would be able to take Sybil's words to heart.

Kaja took no notice of the other kinder; it was hard to say if she even knew that they were there, actually, because this was her first ever attempt at fishing, and she was quite excited...and a little disappointed. "I don't get it, Oli; what do you suppose I'm doing wrong?" Tiliting her head, she looked at the turtle perched on her shoulder; unsurprisingly, it said nothing. "Meh..."
