Samira looked sheepish again when he chuckled, even though it had been fading a few moments ago. She giggled nervously, relieving the tension of her embarassment...he's seen her blushing, after all! That was just unfair...he was the one that started it anyway! She did, however, lose her sheepish look to a hopeful one. It was refreshing to know someone would be there for you if you needed them! Samira's lips were curled in a thankful smile.

"I could try...I can't guarantee I can keep it up for a while...but I'll try, for you." Her last two words were nothing but a murmur; she felt that she owed it to him to try, since he was being so kind about the possibility of her being able to do it. Who knows? she thought, Today might be the day. She smiled to herself...it was highly unlikely, but it was such a nice thought.

Her emerald orbs strayed to his hair...it must annoy him, having such long locks that weren't tied back. She cocked her head to the side, looking at him curiously now. "I have an elastic if you want to use it...to keep your hair from your face." She offered.

"Hey, as long as you give it a try! I'll even thread the needle for you." He blinked, one ear perking up at the last two words. He didn't know what they were, which was why he was suddenly so curious. "Huh? I didn't catch the last part..." Honest! He hadn't! Liam opened up his bag again and plucked a case out of one of the pockets, popping it open to take a needle and green spool of thread out. She seemed to like green, so why not give her a color she liked? He clipped a bit of the thread off and stuck one end in his mouth for a brief second, holding the hole of the needle carefully while he slipped the thread in through the tiny hole. There, it was perfect, now all he had to do was tie the two ends together so the thread didn't just go right through the fabric. Heh, it always reminded Liam of some sort of necklace whenever her tied the ends, the needle just hanging there at the bottom...he'd wear it if it wasn't a stupid idea and a very painful one.

Liam blinked and looked up at Sam again, a few locks of hair falling over his face from having been looking down for so long. "You do? That'd be great...I've thought about getting it cut, but I guess when it comes down to it I'd miss having long hair like this if it was cut off." He said, trying to hide his sheepish smile. It was silly to think that way, wasn't it? It was just hair, and it was so long and annoying, why didn't he ever get it cut?

Samira's smile widened into a happy grin...he was being so...nice about this! She definately owed him one, that much was certain. For believing in her, anyway. "Thanks, Liam! You're so kind." She giggled softly...or started to, as he inquired about what she'd murmured, she coughed a bit, cutting her giggle off. The dog attempted to be as non-chalant as possible. "Eh? I just said I'd try.." She leaned her head to the side, trying (with little success) to look curious. She'd been embarassed enough around him today, and she wasn't about to intentionally add to that...she'd be permanently red! Her hair had a huge possibility of looking like Tino's! The thought made her flinch. Smiling sheepishly, she watched him thread the needle for her, also thinking it looked like a necklace.

"When I was younger, I wore a dull needle as a necklace for a while. The thread was too weak though, so it kept breaking." Samira felt the strange need to tell him this. Strangely enough, when she gave up fixing the necklace, the incident where she gained her weak hands occured. A sign? Maybe.

"Yeah, I do...And I know how that is...but my bangs are longer now, so they don't get in my way as often anymore. Maybe you just have to wait it out? I think long hair suits you." Somehow, Samira managed to tell him this without blushing (well, more than she already was)...probably because it really did suit him...she just couldn't picture him with short hair. She pulled one of her low pigtails over her shoulder, removing the greenish tie from the long lock of hair, handing it over to him a few seconds later, leaving that bit of long green hair loose over her shoulder. "Here.."

"What're friends for?" He grinned, offering Samira the needle as he spoke. His grin faded, however, at her cough, suddenly looking more confused than he'd ever been. Was he hearing things? He could have sworn she said she was doing it for him...but that would be so selfish of Liam to think, wouldn't it? "It's just...I could have sworn...you said something after that..." Maybe it really had been his imagination. Well they had the needle and they had the thread...but now Samira needed something to do with them, she couldn't sew thin air! His bookbag would be too tough for a first try...but his shirt would be fine! Liam leaned over to look around, a soft blush creeping across his cheeks. "Er, you might want to cover your eyes for a minute..." He warned Samira, waiting for her to do so before he took off his vest, pulling his shirt up over his head and dropping it on his lap. It was a good thing he had this vest, it wasn't that Liam was modest or anything, it was just that Sam probably wouldn't be able to take seeing him without a shirt if just holding her hand made her blush. Liam quickly put his vest back on, closing it up before Sam looked at him again. "Here, you can use my shirt. It's pretty boring, isn't it?"

He blinked, watching her quietly with bicolored eyes when the subject about a needle for a necklace came up. It was as if she'd read his mind. "Really? I've always thought of doing that, I just can't stand to dull my needles, y'know?" He would have said more, but Samira's comment about his hair reached his ears before he had the chance. The soft blush that had previously been on his face returned, running a hand through his hair and staring at it. "I guess..." He bunched some of it up on his head and turned to Sam, giving the illusion of shorter hair. "Big difference, right? Uh...wait, you didn't have to take one from your own hair! It looked so cute that way!" Liam sighed, reluctantly taking the hair tie to use it to tie his own hair back in a lose ponytail. "Thanks, Sam..but your pigtails..." They looked kind of lopsided now that she'd taken one out.

Samira took the needle as it was offered to her, holding it in her palm for the time being...after all, it just wouldn't do to have her hands tired before she actually started to sew. Chances are that merely holding the sewing needle would shorten her time doing the actual sewing. She merely smiled at him as he spoke of hearing her. Lets just...stay away from that. Samira thought with a slightly sheepish expression.

She did, however, give him a genuinely curious look as he told her to cover her eyes. Being asked to do so, she felt it only right to do what was asked, and thus she put the needle on her lap and placed her slender hands over her eyes, even if she did close them. She waited until he spoke again to open her eyes, focusing her attention on the shirt offered to her. "Oh...Oh! Liam, you didn't have to take off your shirt! What If I screw up? O-or what if I can't finish the design...I can't use your shirt...!" She protested, and in fact her protesting made her forget that he had to take off his shirt in order to give it to her.

"Ah...Its okay...about the pigtails, I mean. I have more elastics in one of my bags. It was just easier this way, right?" She giggled sheepishly, taking the elastic out of her remaining pigtail and pulling all of her hair over her left shoulder, putting the elastic back into her hair near her chin. With a small sigh, Samira set her hands down on her knees, resting them for a little bit before she figured out what to sew...after all, she wasn't going to ruin Liam's shirt! She just couldn't.
PostPosted: Wed Jul 13, 2005 8:34 pm

Liam waved a hand dismissively and grinned, holding up the shirt so Sam could see how plain it looked. "I trust you! You can do whatevet you want with it...except make it so I can't wear it anymore, I don't need it until it gets colder..so have at it." He set it down on her lap before Samira had a chance to protest further, folding his arms behind his head, still grinning. If she messed up, he could always find a way to fix it, and it wasn't as if Liam was just going to let her sew something that could be too tough for her on her first try.

He blinked and watched her change her hairstyle so it wasn't so lopsided, nodding slowly and slouching a bit. Was it just him or did it get really quiet all of a sudden? The boy looked around for a moment, shrugging soon after and turning back to Samira to see what she'd sew. A pattern, perhaps? There wasn't much you could do when the shirt was already made and you only had one color string, it was probably best that he took it off.

(The following links are image references for the two dogs that will be introduced in this post. Cillian and Dulcea)

Cillian stumbled forward colliding with Dulcea. He growled gritting his teeth as his black dog ears rested upright. His eyes stared at the girl in front of him with no emotion. He still wasn't used to being blind but he refused to accept help, or even ask for it. He was too stubborn, too angry to admit he couldn't do everything himself.

"Wat-," Dulcea stopped ears lowering. She kept forgetting he couldn't see. Someone had said it would be best to treat him as normal as possible but she was sure that comment would be insulting. She sighed shaking her head. "Come on, Cilly, I'll help you." She gave a smile reaching her hand out faltering it slightly when he swatted it away.

"I don't need help, I'm fine," Cillian barked roughly. He growled softly his tail limp behind him. He shook his head, his red hair sweeping slightly down. He faltered shuffling carefully after his sister, as of today or whenever they'd been adopted. It was just his luck to end up with someone who tended to be bubbly and happy constantly.

-----

Aislinn had been silent clinging to Faye like she would never see her friend again. She was actually more tired than anything, close to falling asleep. Her wings flapped slightly as she yawned finally releasing her hold from Faye. She perked up instantly seeing Dulcea coming and grinned.

"Faye-Faye! Look, it's my big sister Dully!" the cherub said with a grin. She was sure Faye and Lani would like Dulcea. She had the most hypnotic eyes, so lightly colored that they pulled at one's attention.

"Hi, Linn. Ane," Dulcea started with a smile. It'd be awhile until she could muster up the courage to call Ane anything else, especially something along the lines of mother. She looked around spying Miette and waved to the little mouse not knowing she was asleep.

"Dulcea, Cillian, it's nice to see you again."

Faye wouldn't let her friend go, clinging tightly to Aislinn like a parasite clings to its host. The cherub opened one eye when she heard her friend's wings flapping, stretching her arms up high over her head and sitting up. What was Linn saying? Something about...a big sister? "...Huh? Dully?" Who was Dully? Faye looked up when she heard another voice, proving Aislinn right when she was instantly caught by those lightly colored eyes. Were they white? Silver? Light, light, light blue? Whatever the color was, it sure was interesting.

"Hi..." So pretty.

((Pepper~!))

"I wonder who this...Penelope person is..." Mused a redheaded girl laying outside on the front porch. It was so boring right now, when would something interesting come? Or at least someone interesting...

One light gray ear flicked, the other folding back against her red hair as she sat back up. How would she even know when her new guardian was here? For all she knew Penelope could already have come by looking for her! There was some chick inside that seemed to have come for a reason, but Pepper highly doubted she was the Penelope person she was looking for; everyone was calling her 'Eight.'

Samira still wasn't convinced...but alas, he didn't quite give her a choice, now did he? Eventually, she just sighed in defeat, slowly pulling the shirt a little closer to her, and then smoothing it out over her legs. Now...what was she going to do? She sat there for a moment or two, her hands resting limply on the shirt she had no choice but to sew. Rather suddenly, she giggled softly, to herself...the urge to sew "Samira was here" was, right now, all too tempting. However, she doubted that her new friend would want that, so she decided against it, and eventually her giggles died down as well.

However, she did get an idea. Taking a deep breath, Samira held the needle properly, and slowly began to work, the needle making its home just underneath the collar on the right hand side. Samira purposely made her work smaller than she would have liked, but at least she was trying it.

After a good ten minutes of dedicated work, Samira began to visibly faulter, still unused to doing such fine needlepoint. She flinched from time to time, but she stubbornly continued on. "At least finish the symbol..." she murmured to herself over and over. It wasn't long before her hands began to tremble, and by that time, the poor girl still had another quarter of the symbol left to finish. Once her hands had started their trembling, she'd only gotten two small stitches in before she gave up, her shaking hands falling heavilly, though limply on her lap.

"I...I can't.." She stated, her voice mixed with disappointment and pain. "I can't finish it..." She breathed out in the same tone as before only more distressed, her eyes closing tightly as she leaned her head back against the cushions of the couch. If it were possible, she paled a bit from the pain of her faintly tinged red hands.

Dulcea blushed slightly. She liked attention but she was feeling nervous about meeting the people she'd be living with. She gave a smile to Faye, letting her fears melt for the time being.

"Hello, Faye. I'm Dulcea. Ane has adopted me," she told the cherub that clung to Aislinn. Her eyes closed momentarily covering her quartz colored irises.

Aislinn giggled at Faye's reaction to Dulcea. "She's got the lighest colored eyes, doesn't she?" she whispered to her friend with a smile. She barely noticed Cillian and was slightly startled when she heard his voice piped up.

"Can we go?" Cillian asked impatiently. He was doing his best to pretend he was like everyone else, his head tilted to the side to listen to what was being said.

"That's Cilly-"

"My name is not Cilly. It is Cillian," he snapped as he tensed up. His back was straight as an ironing board, trying to look intimidating.

"He's cranky," she finished rolling her eyes at her new brother. "He can't see, either. We could have lots of fun with him," she giggled.

He'd made himself scarce after the whole... Tail pulling thing. It hadn't been any fun at all! Pouting softly he made his way outside, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall just outside the door. He hardly even noticed the girl laying to his left/right, his gray eyes to intent on boring a hole into the wood before him.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 17, 2005 8:08 pm

Liam wouldn't have mind if Sam put 'Samira was here' on the back of his shirt, or even on the front; hell, he'd probably sew it in himself if she didn't. He folded his arms behind his head once more and watched his friend quietly, a gentle smile quirking up in the corner of his mouth. She looked so focused, it was pretty cute. "So what is it that you're sewing?" He couldn't help but be curious, since he was unable to read her mind and it was never verbally stated what it the little symbol would be when she finished.

One black ear perked a bit when he heard her murmuring about finishing the symbol, his hands falling onto his lap while he watched her. "You okay, Sam?" Her trembling hands answered his question, frowning softly. She'd lasted so long too...probably because the needle was so small. Liam tentatively reached an arm out to drape it across her shoulders, hugging the girl close while he gently pet her sore hands with his free one. "It's okay, don't force yourself. Want me to get something for them? Ice? Water? Maybe there're some painkillers around here somewhere?"

---

Faye was brought out of her daze by Dulcea's voice. "Dulcea? That's a pretty name! Just like Aislinn's! I'm Faye! It's nice to meet you Miss Dulcea!" The cherub chirped, hugging her friend again with a nod. They were so light! Faye had never seen such a light color! Well...except for white, but obviously that was a light color. Faye blinked and looked up when a male voice made itself known, looking up at him curiously while Linn explained to her who he was.

"Hi! I'm Faye! ...Cillian? Well I won't call you a name you don't like Mister Cillian!" Eight was always telling Faye to be polite when meeting someone, and this was no exception. They were older, thus demanded respect...well...most older people did. Not all of them though, some of them didn't deserve it, but that was too much for her young mind to understand. Turqoise eyes blinked and looked from Cillian to her friend, furrowing her brow curiously before she shook her head.

"But that'd be too mean to play pranks on him because he can't see!" She whispered frantically.

---

She heard the footsteps long before she actually saw their owner, too lazy to turn her head to her right to see who was approaching. Pepper sat up and leaned against the wall of the building, bending her leg and hugging it to her chest so she could put her head on her knee. The girl did eventually look over to see who had come, sighing softly when she realized it was not even remotely close to who she was hoping for. When was this Penelope chick coming? Eh...might as well stir up a conversation while she waited. "...Yo..."

"No, Cillian isn't very nice sometimes. That's why playing tricks on him would be fun. It'd be wrong to play tricks on him because he can't see and nothing to hurt him. He might be a brat but he's my brother and that means I should like him and protect him," Aislinn explained to Faye.

As her friend's last comment sunk in, she felt a little hurt. Her wings drooped slightly hiding her frown with a relatively fake smile. Faye didn't actually think she was that mean? Or that cruel? The happiness that had been dancing in her eyes flickered beginning to fade.

Dulcea watched and knelt down between the two girls. "You know, Cillian sleeps with a teddy bear named Dunn. Do you know why it's name is Dunn?" she asked micheiviously.

Aislinn shook her head slightly, she wasn't much in the mood to listen but was trying to be polite.

"I Dunno either," she replied giving a giggle. She winked at the cherubs as Aislinn gave a soft laugh.

"That's silly, Dully."

"You do realize I heard that lame joke about my teddy bear. It happens to be the only thing that survived," he replied. His voice was slightly hoarse almost like he wanted to cry. He moved forward, running straight into Ane.

"Girls, that's enough. Aislinn, you'd best say good-bye to Faye. We need to get back home. Let me get Miette," she said putting a hand on Cillian's shoulder before she moved away.

"Mie, it's time to wake up," Ane whispered shaking the small mouse gently. The mouse's light salmon eyes opened slowly to see her mother. She smiled standing up before hugging her new friend and climbing into Ane's arms.

Aislinn hugged Faye lightly, still hurt by the questions that plagued her. She sighed holding onto the other cherub before pulling away. Her smile was weak, one corner turning up slightly. "I'll see you soon, Faye," she whispered as she turned to Dulcea. She tugged on the dog's sleeve, her blue eyes pleading silently.

Dulcea picked up the cherub, cradling her back gently as she stood up. She shifted the child in her arms resting Aislinn on her right hip while she reached down to ruffle Faye and Ruka's hair, one at a time. "It was nice meeting you," she said giving a smile.

Ane walked back holding Miette as Prem appeared. He instinctively took hold of his mother's free hand, taking hold of Cillian's other hand. Dulcea was left to take hold of Cillian's left hand, though he protested. His shook his head, his red hair covering his eyes as he grumbled about being treated like a child.

Since everyone had said their good-byes, the group left the orphanage so Ane could get her two new children adjusted to their new home.

Samira's hands rested on her lap as if they were twin blocks of red-tinted stone. However, these particular stones did not give off a refreshing coolness that she so wished for - instead, she was given a searing pain, one that traveled from her thin, bony fingers and right up her arms.

Her eyes were closed, so she didn't realize he'd moved until she felt an arm around her shoulder. Instinctively, she leaned against him, her stone hands unmoving from her lap, even as his free hand gently pet them. When she spoke finally, her voice was strained, as if she were trying to not cry. "D-don't worry, Liam...it...its alright. It'll go away...but uhm...I-Ice would be nice..." She hurt, yes, but she was also upset that she couldn't even finish that one little symbol.

"Thanks.." She murmured, slowly picking herself up from her previous post against him.

---

In truth, Tino had been about to nod off as well, but the appearance of Miette's mother startled the red-head into wakefulness. His immediate surprised look was replaced by a calm, 'I knew you were coming' look within seconds. The dog allowed the woman to take the mouse from his side, seeing as she was obviously Miette's mother.

"Bye, Mie." Tino spoke softly, returning the hug she'd given him. He didn't mind hugs from people he knew - not that he knew Miette well, mind you...but it was good enough - and it was nice to receive one, since he hadn't in so long.
