My only complain is that it seems you have to go into the excercies section ro get to the actual lessons.

BUT BESIDES THAT, THIS IS JUST ABOUT THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN EVER. SCREW PORTUGUESE, IT IS AYMARA TIEM NAO.

To get to the lessons, you click "Go to units" and then click on the number on the right side then click on Begin unit, and then click on whatever on the left side.

Yeah, I know that, but the actual grammatical explanations are what I'm talking about. Why stick them in such a random spot?

But who am I to complain, its AYMARA

Hrm, it seems final vowels like to get devoiced. Or at least really really unstressed.

Yeah, they do. It's devoicing.

I swear, most of the language is just a step above whispering. xd

Seems to be that way. Words seem to get so squawshed together, when trying to follow those dialogues with the text, sometimes the actual spoken sound is slurred beyond recognition.

I guess what I've taken so far, it seems like "-xa" seems to have a function something like 「は」, though sometimes it seems to get redced to just "-x", like in "jumax" apparently, but I see no pattern in that. If that just has something to do with those obnoxious rules about when a duffix dropps a vowel and all that, I guess I'll figure that out. That is quite wonky.

And then, I guess there is no distinct copula, which isn't really a problem or anything. And I think I'm starting to see some of that ergativeness you was talking about there.

Mmmm. I know it says stuff about the morphophonemic rules in Compendio. I'll return when I have definitive answers (including the possibility that I have no answers).

For some reason, the site always crashes when I go to the Q' part of the dictionary. Argh. The word that I most want to look up (q'uli) is in there.

It seems like each little affix have their own little rules in how they combine. Grrr.

I can't get to that either. For some reason, the Q' section is the only one that won't work.

Also, the pictures in the dialogue exercises don't work for me.

I listened to the dialogues in the units and I find Aymara to be a very beautiful language. It would be even more beautiful if it wasn't so heavily influenced by Spanish. I espacially like the way the lady speaks.

I know, it's lovely. What got me into it was the song Q'uli Panqarita by Zulma Yugar; another beautiful song sung by her is in my profile, but the song in question can be found here. I was very glad to find it on iTunes, because the sound quality of this one is pretty bad.

I like some of the Spanish loanwords, actually. I like the native words more, but the loanword "lapisa," for instance, is quite nice.

ALL ABOARD THE WIN TRAIN

It feels so nice to now actually have enough information to be making some significant progress into Aymara. It's not all that hard, and any difficulty is neutralized by its general awesomeness.
