Shadow would probably be against taking lives (due to his background as the former Grim Reaper). So, he would probably back the side opposing that. If someone could find a way to mind control him (doubtful, he is far too old to be controlled in that way; there is simply too much stuff in his head), he could lead them to his old reaper's blade, which has the power to take souls instantly, no trouble.
But, yeah, this story seems highly interesting, and with Shadow just wandering about the continent, he is highly likely to run into this fight.

*Grumble grumble grumble.*
Kana knows of Victor, sort of. She knows he exists and she knows he's planning something, but she doesn't know what because Ed and I never got that far so I had to magically free her. She also knows absolutely nothing about Eden... technically... but considering how bloody old she is and how deeply she was once immersed with the characters related to Vahn, she should probably know a little more than she does... She should probably have heard rumors of Eden or something as well...
I dunno, Ed and Sierra will have to clear up how much Kana can and can't know from her time in captivity limbo with Victor before he suddenly lost interest in her and she was magically freed. -_-''

Well... obviously Enki, Alex and my other character would be on Vahns side stopping Victor... but Tenkyl would so totally join up with Vincent. The whole "we can take care of ourselves" thing...

Now for something that's relevant and much more important than any individual saying thet they want in on this by joining so-an-so's side followed by mindless running of mouths.
First off, demographics. If you're going to kill off one million people (NPCs), you'll first have to figure out where you're going to get your victims from. Most of the supposed cities in the Leviathan universe are relatively small, or there are cities which play roles so small it would be inconsequential for any of the survivors to know about.
Of all the towns and cities which would affect anyone, or be a cause for news to spread around the world about a million deaths, these being the major towns and cities of the main continent which actively play a role in the world, there are 8000 from Latent, 10000 from Lament, and unknown numbers from Barton, Durem, Gambino, Aekea, and Strata.
Barton is based on that little gathering of twelve buildings or so on the world map. Similarily, the other cities would do the same, so I can't say that they're possess a lot of population on their own to make one million people. Unless you want to annihilate a million generic people from the 'towns' section south of Barton.
Aside from that, you have the less important cities that dont play major roles on the main continent or affect the world much. West Fall City argueably has the largest number of residents, totalling 700000 people, but it has no major role in the world aside from one or two people's story arcs. The undead of Sorrow's Keep and Necroloptica are not relevant to the numbers, since they're already dead, and people would probably be happy that monsters are dead rather than people, so that doesnt work. Saint Agrippina is another of those story arc areas, along with being completely infected or something. And all the other little private roleplay areas are cut off from the main world anyway.
So, that limits the choice of a million people to be sacrificed. Additionally, area write-ups for the cities based on those of Gaia's World Map probably need to be updated and/or re-written to fit in with the Leviathan universe rather than appear as little towns of buildings ranging between ten to twenty.
Of course, you could completely decimate the world's population, leaving 1% of the total world population to remain if those cities are indeed so low in numbers, but I would strongly advise against this, because in ten generations down of whatever, the world may start to fill up and re-populate with inbreds since there are so few people left in the world.
This supposed world is not as large as the real world where cities contain several million people and the world itself six thousand times that, where a million deaths may shock the general populace of the world, but not completely decimate the human race. The cities on Gaia are small however, and a million people dying, assuming that the cities are small to fit in with the other cities which have definate numbers, may be too much of a loss on the longterm.
I suggest that the nuber be cut down, maybe from a million to something like one hundred thousand or something. Its still a large number, and I would assume that these 'sacrifices' are not going to happen from natural causes like a plague, or sickness, but rather, in a way where people know is unnatural and caused by one or several individuals. As a serial killer marks victims by a style of death, it does the same thing, a relatively large quantity, in a specific way, at the same time; people will be talking about it because it is news.
Secondly, how will Civil War actually affect the world? Will the world actually split up between the two factions similar to an actual war with factions claiming and occupying towns which support them, or will the world just go along as it always had only with handfuls of battles breaking out across the world between players from different factions while the NPCs mindlessly go about without a care in the world to such matters?

right.
i... kinda refuse to believe that the city is made up of just those buildings, unless that's "barton proper" and the rest is around it or... something. i suppose what's shown on the map is like... the major landmarks. so they could have enough people to fill lots of body bags... let's say half a mil. all areas of leviathan lose some, and those other continents/islands that people make that are still on planet gaia, but just aren't marked. if it's supposed to be worldwide, make it worldwide.
though in the end, i don't think that where we get numbers from truly matters. i suspect that there'll be a report on the news about tons of people missing one night or internally combusting, or however these deaths will happen. i encourage people to pick a locale they know, and have a well known npc or five missing. if you own a megabusiness... a fourth of your staff or something. for the sake of convenience, i assumed that gaia was as large as earth, and what's on the map is say... america. or just one state, i don't know.
the point is, i think worrying about numbers is getting too nitpicky though if y'all want to change the catalyst figure, then go for it.
that second question's one that needs to be adressed though.
