I have to say I really enjoyed the content of this topic. I'm so glad you included the pictures too. xD

The pictures made me feel uneasy. Not so much the doll girl, but more so the boy. It made me feel a bit dizzy, don't know why.

I definately wouldn't want it in my house though.

Glad you enjoyed it! Though I was a bit creeped out at the first glance of the pictures too I also really found it to be enjoyable, hoax or not. I wouldn't really want this particular painting on my wall either lol.



It's alright if you don't want to see it but if you ever feel inspired to do so you can! You may even surprise yourself; you may not find it creepy at all! There's a whole variety of reactions throughout this entire thread and from viewers off of Gaia. It's pretty much up to the viewer and interpretation.

I kind of understand where you're coming from. I can watch really, supposedly, scary movies and not be the least bit scared but trivial stuff like this give me the creeps. xd

I certainly felt an odd thump in my chest when I saw it, then I quickly shut the window. It was WEIRD. I looked at it again with my mother later last night, and neither of us felt anything more. The initial feeling when I first saw it was troubling, however.

I did some additional research
According to the artist, the boy is based on a photograph of himself aged 5, the doorway is a representation of the dividing line between the waking world and the world of dreams and possibilities, and the doll is a guide who will escort the boy through it. The hands themselves represent alternate lives or possibilities.
Eventually, the auction page was viewed over 30,000 times.
Stoneham recalls that both the owner of the gallery in which the painting was first displayed, and the art critic who reviewed it, are said to have died within one year of coming into contact with the painting.
The ad included grim warnings about possible supernatural powers held by the image and told the story of how the painting had affected the sellers' lives since they bought it a year previously.
The advert also included a series of pictures of the picture 'changing form' at night - caught on film by a webcam.
The last two pictures purport to show the doll coming to life and using a 'gun' held in her hand to force the boy to leave the painting.
The buyer, who wished to remain anonymous, later gave an interview to paranormal website 'Surfing the Apocalypse' about their experience with the 'haunted' painting.
