I think I -might- now get the 2GB , since I realized I don't have that many songs.

Oh, and make sure you know how to take care of your battery. Try to keep your battery stored at 40% power if possible, and every 30 days fully discharge your battery.

40% is exactly what it means.
Fully discharge is to use all of the battery.

Haha, I thought you meant I had to get a new battery every month! ( 'Discharge' kinda sounds like throwing away. Meh.)
Can I charge an I-pod without getting those expensive docking stereos? Does it come with a cable that I can use to charge it?

Of course. They all come with charging stuff. Would be quite useless otherwise.

I FINALLY GOT ONE! xd
It's a 1GB blue Shuffle.
I personally would've preferred one with playlists and stuff, but I still think it will work. It was a birthday gift, that I certainly wasn't expecting.
Though, how will I be able to "choose" songs, and monitor my battery life? Could I do it when it's connected to the computer? And do laptops have USB ports? I don't think my computer will be compatible with it. (Since it's not compatible with I-tunes)

Congrats, Sara!
You'd have to choose songs by manually forwarding through your playlist. I have no idea if you can do it when it's connected to your computer, since I don't own one myself, but I would imagine that you could easily be able to do so. iTunes is a media player and it will certainly allow you to choose your own songs.
Laptops damn better have USB ports; those without are doomed to be in neglect. Oh, and although you need iTunes with an iPod, I'm not sure if you need it with a Shuffle. Chances are that you do, but check for me, mmkay?

-Did much, much research before buying her own iPod-
You need iTunes for all iPods, that's how you get songs onto the iPod. On shuffles, you'll need to do like Xum said, manually skip through songs to find what you like. It's called a shuffle because all it does is shuffle all the songs you have on there. And all laptops I've ever encountered have USB drives. My own laptop has four as a matter of fact... But it's a very new laptop, so....

My friend says I can use Limewire (which is I-tunes friendly) to put songs on my I-pod too. Like, I can download songs from Lime, then transfer the songs to I-tunes somehow. (I'll figure out how to do it when I start downloading songs.)
Thanks Xum and Neko for the help.
( I hate the I-pod headphones. I don't care how "fashionable" they are, I'll use comfier ones, dammet. >:0)

Your friend is correct.
That's how I put songs on mine.
