"Inanity all around!" Laughing, Safi fluffed Yue with his wings as the filly plopped onto his back, ruffling her vigorously with his wings but managing to give Selene what he felt was a suitably dignified look. "Come on, Selly; I'd hope you'd give me a little more credit that THAT!"
Shaking his head sorrowfully, he met the gaze of the other stallion. "She's a very suspcicious thing, isn't she? Gives us no credit at all, thinks we're idiots, and completely abuses us. Why do we put up with her?" Golden eyes snapped impishly, giving the other stallion a 'play along' sort of look. "She's just crazy!"

She flopped on Safi's back with a whoomph, all the air fleeing her lungs as she landed on the stallion's back. She curled down into the bigger Soquili, peeking over the top of his head. This was very awkward, actually. Very. She could feel her legs slipping off his sides, and couldn't stop the giggle that bubbled up. They probably looked so silly!
"Credit?" she looked at him archly. "You expect credit?"
"She is crazy." the stallion piped up. "Thinking I am an idiot." but he couldn't stop the small grin, faintly remembering a familiar, nasal voice in the back of his mind going 'Baka.' "I object to that title."
Selene gave them all withering looks. "Yue Shuang, get off that poor stallion before you smoosh him. Or dig your hoof someplace sensitive. Safi, teach her to fly, and she's yours. And Duo, no comments from you."

...Totem pole of Soquili, ho! Well, as long as he didn't need to fly, he's be fine. Careful to keep the filly on his back well-balanced, Safi sauntered over to where Selene and Duo were standing, making a great show of strutting past. "I dunno what you're all edgy about, Selly; lookit what a cute cape she makes! I bet that this look would be great for keeping the rain off, wouldn't you say?"
In fine anti-responsible fettle, he went a step further, not making any remarks about teaching the little filly how to fly. Granted, it wasn't like he hadn't done that with Kwahu, but he enjoyed being difficult. Besides, Selene had been twitting him earlier; how it was his turn to return the favor...with allies!

Selene was a paranoid little momma, and if she could hover, she would. As it was, the smaller mare pranced around the larger body nervously, clucking her tongue. "No using my baby as a cape. She's still tiny! What if she catches cold!? As lovely a family as you two make, no no!"
Yue chewed on her lip. "He isn't family." her voice was harsh, and Duo visibly winced at the sound. Selene also caught herself. Family was still a sore spot for Yue, who wanted to see, and know, her brother.
'Don't worry brother, I'll keep you safe....' she could remember telling him... but how could she keep him safe, when she didn't even know where he was?

If he had been around more often, had seen Yue more often, had just been more committed to this little fantasy, perhaps Yue's words would have really hurt. However, understanding as he did Yue's sentiments on family ties, Safi simply took the foal's words with a grain of salt. Grinning unrepentantly at Selene, he gently dipped a shoulder so that Yue could slide down to the ground before nodding agreeably at her.
"Yes indeedy; I'm not family, just one of those nuisancey family friend types that you can't seem to get rid of. All of the fun and none of the hassles of blood ties, eh Yue?"

The filly sniffed, lifting her little nose into the air. "You're silly." she muttered, but she leaned in to him. Yes. All fun and no hassle... but she nosed at him in a quiet kind of apology.... well, as much as the haughty little filly could apologize without ruining her image. At least her mother realized she'd done something wrong though.
Selene winced as she was the lucky recipient of the evil eye. But she braved further glares and moved over to her daughter, nosing her and looking for any sign of injury. Nosed at Safi. "Teach her to fly." she grumbled. "Duo hasn't been any use so far."
"Agreed." Yue said.
The stallion grinned. "I'm not a teacher. Those who CAN'T do it teach. I can, so I don't teach."

As Yue nuzzled him, Safi smiled and returned the nuzzle with obvious affection. Maybe he wasn't an official parent, but that didn't mean that he couldn't dote, right? "You got it, brat."
However, as Selene bluntly ordered him to be a teacher, he adopted a wounded look. "What do I look like, a drill sargeant? You think I can browbeat your daughter into line, is that it?" Returning the nuzzle with continuing affection, he couldn't resist the urge to tease both mother and daughter a bit more. "Looks to me like Duo is better for the job; he looks much more like the tough type than I am."
Eyes dancing with amusement, Safi turned to give Duo what he hoped was a suitably appraising look, given the circumstances...but as he did so, he paused internally.
Though they'd been chatting for a little bit, he hadn't actually paid that much attention to the other stallion. But now as he looked at him, he realized with some surprise that Duo was a quite splendid specimen of horseflesh. Well muscled, decently proportioned, and a look in his eyes that said he didn't take himself too seriously, a refreshing change from all the terribly serious louts running around.
All of this registered in a matter of seconds in the white stallion's mind before he was returning his attention to the task at hand. He always took note of the physical attributes of stallions, just as he did of mares...but it somehow seemed...awkward. Meh, he was obviously just imagining things.

"Duo is a lump of bearfat." Yue nodded. Selene made a face. "He wiggles, and jiggles, and doesn't do anything useful except keep one warm. He even smells funny like bearfat."
Duo looked offended. "Hey, that's not nice!" he protested. "I don't jiggle anywhere. I am a lean, mean, flying machine." he posed, grinning. "And one with an astounding amount of patience." he winked at Safi. "Putting up with a little midget like you." He danced in place, watching Yue quiver in indignation, obviously amused.
Selene expected her daughter to combust. "Please teach her." she muttered. "He doesn't have a serious bone in his body, I swear." she looked at him, piteous as she could manage. "Just think, you'll get to spend lots of time with her, and it'll be good, an outside influence from this inbred little family we have going here."
Duo noticed the stallion eyeing him, but wasn't too worried. After all, Selene trusted him enough to bring him around... and for a flutter-brain, she has relatively good instincts. Well, except for this Kalona fellow he had been told she hung about with in her youth.

He couldn't take it. At Yue's exasperated tone, Safi cracked up once again, laughing so hard he wound up falling to the ground. He wasn't sure what it was about Yue that was so amusing; maybe it was the way that she always managed to sound like a little adult even while she was doing silly things. At any rate, he barely managed to gasp out an "Ok" to Selene's questions in between laughter. This was too funny!

Three heads swiveled, and looked at him. "Silly boy, rolling around on the ground like that." Yue sounded firmly exasperated. "Mother, he might even be more a child then Duo."
"More a child than you, for sure." Duo's body was shaking. That Safi sure had an infectious laugh. He moved over to Yue, worked out the tangles in her mane with his teeth. "Maybe you could take some lessons." he winked, and watched Safi on the ground with an amused eye. "Silly boy."
Selene looked kind of.... exasperated. "Look what you've done, Yue. You aren't supposed to send the guests into convulsions!"
"That's my job!" Duo broke in. And, unable to resist, dropped a wing down to Safis side. "Cootchie cootchie coo!"

"Entirely probable, Yue; but you should have known that already!" Crumpled up in laughter, Safi managed to squeak out the words; laughter freshened up by the very mature/adult sounding comment the foal made. Good grief, she was such a funny child; everything she said was gold!
But still, he didn't want to cause too much of an issue. "Don't...worry..Selly. It's not...her....HA!" Even talking became too much as all at once he was being tickled. Him, the one who could sneak-tickle anyone, had been too busy laughing to notice what Duo was doing; consequently when the other stallion started to tickle him, it was a total shock that made him laughter even harder, flailing wildly and wriggling about to try to get away.

Yue screamed. "Mama! Mama! He's KILLING him! Uncle Du-Du-" and she burst into tears, causing Duo to double-check himself instinctively. "He's killing Mister Safi!"
"Uncle DuDu?" Selene said weakly, shuddering. "I... Safi?" A weepy Yue, a confused Duo, and a helpless-looking Selene all looked down at the flailing stallion.
And that was when Duo shrugged and continued his assault on Safi. "If he dies from this, he's a wuss!"
Yue's crocodile tears dried quickly, turning into a scowl. "Some help you were mother!" She snapped, and went after Duo herself. "If you want something done right...!" And the winged stallion found himself with the filly headbutting his side, trying to topple him.

Mister Safi??? Oh, if only Yue knew how much she wasn't helping the situation. Between the tickling and the comments, he wasn't sure how much more of this he could take. Still, he knew how to take advantage of an opportunity when he saw one!
As Yue went after Duo, Safi managed at least a few deep breaths and rolled sideways into Duo's ankles. He was still laughing, but at least able to vocalize a little bit. "Shove, Yue!" Hopefully that would be enough to get his point across; if Yue hit Duo's side again, hopefully he'd go toppling over as Safi threw him off balance...and then Safi would be able to get away!

Duo was a bastion, braving the attack of the dwarf kingdo-oops! He toppled over with a grunt, aiming his fall as best he could, determined to keep the other stallion down.
And she couldn't help it. Duo went down, and so did Yue, throwing her tiny body onto Duo's exposed belly with a war cry. "I got 'im! I got 'im!"
Selene grinned, and moved for a tree, settling herself quietly. Oh, this was far too amusing to get involved in. Better to be the observer. She ripped up a chunk of pale yellow flowers and munched happily.
Duo gave an umph as Yue's body knocked the air out of him that he had just been recovering. "Uncle! Uncle!"

"Oof." Safi should have planned that a bit better; he almost managed to get away from the situation intact, but as Duo went over Safi would up getting semi-smooshed in the resulting collapse.
Still, it was only part of him that was squished, and with his non-squished face he was able to give Selene, Duo, and Yue all suitably baleful looks. "Selly, you are absolutely no help at all! And Yue, the point was to help me, not flatten me!" Or rather, that was Duo who was flattening him, with Yue aidding and abetting. Safi could feel legs tangled with his, impeding his attempts to get up.
But the whole time he was attempting to wriggle away, Safi was feeling the weight of Duo on him, feeling his legs against his...feeling them far more pointedly than any other physical contact he'd ever had. And it was feeling...but not in a bad way.
