"Good, Good" Kolette smiled lightly again, if only for a moment, as she turned to walk away. She sighed lightly under her breath that he had agreed, but how couldn't he have. The thought of having to take it all on, still plagued her, but it wasnt now. So she dismissed it, at least for the time being, she was busy now, and would have a lot of other oppurtunities to worry about it.

She straightened her shoulders, glancing sideways at Warren. She thought about all he had to worry about. To her, it seemed not much, just killing some worthless non-human, and when his weapon would be out of the smith's. She turned to face forward again, making her way towards the door.

Kaori pushed herself up, sitting on the edge of the couch. "Abel! Please.... calm down..." her eyes were wide right now, not having seen this side of him yet. He had not seemed like this when he was facing Kolette, that had seemed more like a burning ember, but this.... The young witch reached out a shaking hand, then curled it into a fist and drew it back when she realized she did no know who to reach out to first. The young woman knew that Aida had probably not been able to help herself, being so weak the girl knew that she needed blood. But she also knew that it was an intrusion, and that Abel, who held himself so distant from others, would probably take it worse than she may have. Though that she did no know for certain.

Placing her hand in her lap, she lowered her head slightly. "Please... calm down...." Looking over at the vampire, she smiled weakly. "You said your name was Aida? I am sorry, I have not looked after your needs. You must be hungry, staying outside for so long...." Kaori bit her lip and glanced down again, not sure how to say what she was thinking. "Do you still need to feed, Aida?"

AIda sat back, confused. "Why, eating, of course... Isn't that what you wanted?" She glanced at her new friend's discarded clothing and bandages, then back at him. Why else would he have taken off his clothes and presented her with all of that blood if he didn't want her to have some? After all, just leaving it to drip would be wasting good food... And she had to eat something.

"You taste very good," she said, almost to herself. "You should try it sometime." The troubled look left her face, replaced with a happy grin. He couldn't really be mad at her. She'd probably just tickled him. "I'm sorry if I tickled you."

Abel stood, trying to compose himself a moment before glancing back up at Kaori. He saw the shock of not seeing his short temper, and instantly felt bad, he dropped his gaze like a guilty puppy would after destroying something. He knelt back down, in quite a canine like manner, his black tipped anthro tail wrapping around his knees. He shifted his gaze back to Aida. "Who said anything about my being your dinner plate?" It came as another surprise how young she sounded, and that her troubled look soon disappeared. His face changed to one of slight amusement, well at least he knew now he tasted good.
"I think. . . thats alright. . ."

Abel resisted the urge to chuckle at the thought, yet couldn't help wondering if it was his demon blood or his shifer's blood that made him taste so good to her. "Maybe its a mix of both" Abel mumbled this under his breath, not really intentionally say it out loud. He tilted his head at her as she apologized if it tickled. His brows furrowed for a moment before going back to that amused look again. "Well, not quite, little one. . . but its alright" He sighed lightly as he took this moment to think over one last time what he was about to say, "Well. . .if you still need more, you can. . ."

As Kolette walked down the aisle toward the door, Warren moved over to walk beside her. After the first few steps, Warren looked to Kollete, "Pardon me m'lady, in order for me to adequately serve you, it would indeed help to know what it is that you need aid with."

In no way was Warren having second thoughts, after all, he firmly believed that there was no way he could fail as long as he was serving god. However, back before he became a devote member of the church, he was trained to always be prepared for whatever might happen. This was one of the many things that the guild had taught him which he could still find useful in his current line of work. Aside from this, it was only human to be curious about something such as this.

As this thought came into his head, a small smile appeared on his face, as he recalled something another hunter said about that phrase, "They say these things are only human, cause the damned ones don't have feelings." At which Warren had replied, "I disagree, after all, if they didn't have feelings, it would make our jobs quite a bit harder now wouldn't it?"

Kolette nodded, smiling again, she understood completely how curious he was. But what she also understood was that everyone around them was also interested, wanting to spread the lastest that they had caught in their eavesdropping. "In due time, dearest Warren, in due time. We need to find some place where we can speak in private, first." Kolette addressed him so, only because he was one of her and her father's most trusted.

She believed Warren to be one of the most loyal, and dedicated to the religon. Kolette took a slightly longer step than his last, so she was slightly ahead of him. Making her next move a side step so they could go single file through the door, sparing embarassment of trying to squeeze through together, honestly, did he think she could risk the embarassment, infront of all these firm believers. They trusted her father, therefore trusting her and having confidence she would be able to them later on in her life.

As he exited the door, Kolette slowed, and sidestep so she was beside him again, barely noticing as he smiled to himself. Her expression turned momentarily to confusion, then to something of interest. Afterall, she didnt want to appear weak.

Aida shook her head. Already his wounds were closing up, and there was very little extra blood left to be had. She knelt in front of him, imitating his pose. "I don't need plates!" She smiled and patted his side. "Besides, you're healing up, so there's nothing more to drink. You'll be better in no time." She quickly kissed what remained of the wounds, knowing that would help them heal faster.

"Now, what is your name, eldest brother?" Aida rested her hands on his chest. She was still a little thirsty, but she could wait. There would be rats... and squirrels... and maybe even dogs. Aida didn't really like eating dogs, but they did have more blood than rats.

The street was bustling with a steady ebb and flow of pedestrians, some moving carts, others running, hell bent on obtaining their goals. The buildings that lined the street were of a mixed assortment and a tall three story inn shadowed the street. A shadow that a tall, thin man sat, eating a bowl of some food with a bent and cracked wooden spoon.
Darius shovled the food in, his worn boots resting on the table as he leaned back in his chair, his cuped hand holding the bowl to his lips. He chewed slowly, his one visible eye observing the passers by with a dark, critical glare. He longed to remove his bandage and instantly know who were the non humans and watch them burn to ash. But better to be a hidden enemy to these non humans than a blatant force. He hunted non humans because it was what he was raised to do. And he was in this town to do it now.
He finished the bowl and rose from his chair. He thanked his waiter, tossed him the coin he owed and stepped into the flow of the street. He placed his hat on his shaved head and stoked his stubbled chin. There was a church nearby and he was considering whether to enter or not. He was a stranger to this town, not sure how many of these town folk held tight to the religion or not, so best wai until he knew whether he would receive more help as a man of the church or as a wanderer. Darius again toyed with the covering of his blessed eye, but did not remove the bandage.
“The monsters live in the shadows.” Darius muttered to himself “To find them, we must live in the shadows to.” Darius placed a toothpick in his mouth with his skeletal hand and began moving down the dusty street, a billowing scarecrow in a sea of busy people.

Abel's wolven ears ventured up from where they had been pinned back, his head also lifted as he relaxed. He gazed down at his side, and true to her word, he was healing, his eyes widened fro a moment before he glanced back up at her. And as he looked up, he happened to catch her kiss his side, he tensed up, but was surprised it hadn't hurt. He chuckled lightly, but it seemed strained and cold. And yet after all these years, he still couldn't seem to shake that cold that had taken over him.
"Abel, my names Abel."

He grunted this, reaching out to ruffle the younger girl's hair as she had called him 'elder brother' but emotionally, it pained him. He had been taken from his family when he had been so young, he had always wondered if he had siblings or not. Or if they too, disgraced of being half-breeds been sent away also, but thinking back, he had always had been runty, and maybe he had appeared to never amount to anything.

Abel shook the thoughts from his head, looking back up at Kaori after he spoke, hunger and fatigue softened his gaze, and made it difficult for the half-demon to keep his eyes open. He resisted the yawn that threatened to escape him, and stretched slightly. He was strangely thin for his heighth and strength, which was decieving during battle, and for Abel, that gave him the upper hand, as enemy's treated him as if he was weak.

Warren found it mildly amusing that Kolette found the need to move ahead of him in order to get out the door in single file. Did she really think she would have to do something like that just to keep the two from winding up in the "scandalous" position that would be trying to get through the door at the same time? However, Warren knew that there was no reason to dwell on it, especially when there were more important matters at hand.

Once they had exited the building, Warren looked around at the crowded streets. Whenever he looked over a scene such as this, he couldn't help but wonder if any of those that seemed to be going about their daily jobs were actually were-wolves, shape-shifters, or any other type of non-human that could survive the suns light. That was one reason he preferred to hunt vampires, once it was found out that they remain indoors during the day, it was easy enough to catch them unprepared.

After staring over the crowd for a bit, Warren looked to Kolette, "If you are looking for a place for us to talk without the presence of others, there’s an inn near the edge of town, several of the hunters regularly pay the innkeeper to tell the people that he consistently has absolutely no vacancies. Of course if you would prefer, Thalen's estate is surprisingly nearby, probably why we never expected him." Warren wasn't sure if it was the best choice to discuss religious matters in the previous home of a damned one, but that was for the heiress to decide.

Darius had paused, his mouth slowly chewing on the toothpick as he eyed the stone building of the church. Nothing as huge as in the larger cities but something still impressive and still foreboding in the small sea of people. He chewed a little harder on the piece of wood. He knew at least one non human was is this crowd, there was always at least one in every crowed, but the trick was finding them. Darius chewed again and slide his hand to his rapier’s handel and toyed with the rough sharkskin before pulling his hand off. The touch of the handle always seemed to comfort him and he often did this without realizing he had done so. He chewed another minute, his green eye looking at the stone monolith and finally decided to make his way towards it. He was a hunter but not one most of the church members knew about. He did his job by dwelling in with the shadows instead of being a light to repulse the shadows.
At last Darius moved toward the church, his curiosity to see the inside overcoming his pretenses to stay as a wanderer, but he shrugged. How many simple non religious travelers entered just to look at the beauty? Darius made his was through the crowd and paused on the steps when he noticed a tall man with another female figure. The man was a hunter and it was not at all hidden. Darius saw the stakes and the crossbow all very clearly and he chuckled. He shifted the weight of his traveling pack to one side and decided the inquire of this man a question. He wasn’t sure why but to see a fellow hunter here made him interested and, well, he wanted to see if he could convince this man he was a traveler. Convince a fellow friend, convince an enemy.
“Excuse me” Darius said, in his slow but rather loud tone “I’m just come to this town earlier today and am not familiar with the local area. Tell me, which church is this and where might I find a good store to purchase a new pair of traveling boots, If it be pleasing to answer master hunter

Aida frowned. "It is a good name for sheephearding, but bad for survival." For a moment she appeared lost in thought as her mind replayed a dozen scenarios intended to stave off certain death.

"Ah," she said, not quite brightening, but her eyes assuming a hopeful, determined expression. "We shall make a doll of sackcloth and stuff him with wool. We shall name it Cain, and mark it and bind it and bury it in the yard where it cannot harm you."

Satisfied, she crossed her arms and leaned back. Vampires were not supposed to be awake during the day, and she was no exception. "But... let's do it tonight. Let's sleep, now." Aida shifted over to the fireplace, curled up, and was soon fast asleep.

Abel found it so amusing that she found his name so unfitting of him as he himself had always. He had always thought himself to be runty, and not strong enough to fit his own name. Finding himself a string bean in an oversized suit of armor of sorts.

"If you think that will help, sure, little miss, But I always figured my Cain would come abruptly, never quite sure when they will come to end my life. . ." He nodded at her suggestion to do it in the morning, watching her as she made her way across the room and curled up to sleep. He stood, stretching once more before taking another step towards Kaori. His heigth caused him to have to look down at her as he spoke. "Maybe we too should get some rest, seeing as we'll have to keep up with her tonight, and seeing lack of sleep could lead to disaster." Abel's face was yet agian cold and expressionless as he shrunk back into his shell.

One characteristic found in most of the high ranking hunters was their ability to tell if they were being lied to. They were usually able to judge a person by everything from their voice, to the way they held themselves.

Warren knew that many people were afraid of hunters due to some of their somewhat overzealous methods of locating the damned, and yet this "Traveler" still approached Warren and directed this question towards him when there were many others he could have asked. Looking Darius up and down, it wasn't long before Warren spotted his weapon. A rapier usually wasn't the choice weapon of a typical traveler, not only was it somewhat expensive, but it also required more skill to use than a dagger or short sword. Still, that wasn't enough to assume the man was a liar.

Staring directly into the man's eyes, Warren smiled and said, "What church is this you ask? This is the only church, God's church, the only truth in an ocean of falsities." The smile disappearing from his face he continued, "Each lesson learned and followed is another step on the road to salvation, and when mankind's time has come, the gates of heaven will open to allow those in who stood firm and allowed the churches lessons to be their guiding hand."

Warren knew that he was rambling, because he was doing it with a purpose. Without a seconds pause from his lecture, he continued with, "Now as for a place to stay, there's a wonderful inn on the edge of town, just tell them Warren sent you and you'll get a great price on a room." It was a simple trick, but he had seen it work many times on those who had not been completely honest with him.

Darius shifted his toothpick from one side of mouth to the other and then back again as he listened to the hunter whose name he had picked up a Warren, ramble on. Warren, in Darius’ opinion was a standard in your face, kick in the door screaming the name of God type of hunter and in all honesty, Darius respected men who could hunt the shadows while shinning as a torch. Darius had found that Warren’s method tended to miss the deep, hidden shadows and it was for the likes of Darius to see to it that they were removed. Darius lodged the toothpick and looked at Warren hard with his one eye.

“So salvation to all eh?” Darius replied slowly, rubbing his chin “So are most of these town folk religious or would be better received if the topic of church were not to be mentioned? I do not want to be offensive in a town who’s customs might be quite strange and different from mine.” Darius rolled the holy eye that lay hidden behind the blue bandana before going on. “As for the inn, I may take you up on that offer once night draws nearer. Warren, if I may assume that is your name, I find your adive quite advantageous and I thank you for your trouble” He gave a bow of his head and then moved the tooth pick to the other side of his mouth. Darius was still wondering though why such a man would be in town a question he asked in the following way. “So hunter before I go, may I ask what you do in this town and if I should need or have information for you, where I might meet you?”
