Louisa de Lioncourt Although I have marched through pretty much everything (hail, heavy rain, snow) I think the worst weather I've marched in had to be my senior year at one of the last comps of the season we were at Weaber State University ((up in Utah)) and it was raining so hard (hail included) that they had to stop the competition, and while everyone was leaving it stopped raining, but once they started playing again, it started raining again... Another was when we were compeating up at BYU it was so cold that by the middle of the second song ((Minnimaly Speaking: Echoes)) I could hardly move my fingers, and a young freshman in my section was so cold she started crying. Living in a cold state sucks. One year it was so cold at one of our competitions, that almost everyone's keys on their instruments froze shut, and all the woodwind players had icicles coming out our instruments.

We march inside the NAU Skydome, so we are pretty much just fine. But sometimes it rains really hard when we practice on the school football field. Yay squeaky grass!!! biggrin

The worst would have to be the heat of Florida in about 1 in the afternoon. Today we were out there and a cloud came, I was so excited. I was all, "I love you cloud!!!" But then it left us...and I was wearing denim jeans.

My band director had the genius idea to go pratice in the rain. Keep in mind it was already raining, so he's responsible for a good amount of instruments going to the shop. stare Luckily, it is usually okay to be marching in Southern California.

Worst conditions... was it last year ot the year before? Well, it was raining really hard, but it stopped so we took off our ponchos (game day) and played stands tunes... wind was blowing reallly hard. We went on the field, and in the middle it started raining heavily. As we got off, it started lightning. We ran for it and put our brass instruments in the band truck. Then, a tornado siren went off. We hid in the little bottom offices under the press box all night.
Twas pretty fun actually. I was kinda scared my baritone'd get hit by lightning though. Haha.

the allegheny valley in pennsylvania has the worlds weirdest weather.
we had practice on our field one day in early september during school. the day started off 80 degrees when we went out, shifted, and we ended up with major downpour swamping our crap field, then it turned to hail. it finally quit with snow, and by the time band was over, we had 3 inches of snow on the field.

we live in a nice region so the worst we get is harsh temperature or wind
one of the funny events due to poor conditions was when we were marching in pure mud on the field and we had to do double time (running basically) and one sousaphone slipped and fell down in the mud and then we all started to slide around in the mud like a slippin slide... our teachers next period shure were appaled

southern cali rarely gets bad weather.. but um the worst..
we share a field with the football and soccer teams so basically about 3 days after school starts we end up with a field with no lines and no grass. On dry days, we pretty much breathe in dust rather than air, and on the rainy days we slide more than we march

Our Halloween game was by far the worst.
Our director stated the rule: You don't wear a costume, you don't march.
So, we all came in costumes and whatnot, but it started just pouring rain. Poor twirlers were wearing the skimpy clothing, and we had to stay through all of it. It was cold, rainy, extremely windy, and we were not wearing very warm clothing. 'Cept Amanda, 'cause she was a snowmobiler.

I don't know if any of you guys live it Connecticut, but this Thanksgiving was awful. And we had our big halftime show.
It was raining, incredibly windy (they were holding down the sousaphone player), and it was hailing.
Of course, we were all so hyped for the show, we didn't really care that we were losing the feeling in our fingers...

My worst were both last year. It would have to be a tie between the Pacific Coast Invitational and the Oregon State Marching Band Comp.
PCI was near constant rain on a grass field. So, mud, and losts of it. There was no way anyone could mark time in the middle of it! Plus, some marchers from later bands (when the field was literally a mud pit) fell, and one or two broke their ankles. Finals were almost canceled, but they just ended up turning into a stand-still music performance.
OSUMBC was almost as bad. It was on a turf field, but not much better. Heavier rain and insane wind made it just as band. It was literally horizontal rainfall. Plus, we had to stand for about 2 minutes cause the judges and the box were having complication problems, and we couldn't start. And we got penalized for it.
This year? Not that bad. Mostly sun and clouds. And only a little rain.
