I hate when people use tis and thou and shizz like that, it's like you're trying waaaay too hard.

I had a friend in highschool that said tis but he was one of those drama kids, who was really good at old english and grew up with it.
For some weird reason no one thought it was weird when he said it, i guess it fit his charater(personality).

but i know what you mean ^^lll

My friends that's in theater says it and it kinda sounds forced >.<. I've never actually heard a person say it that sounded well, natural.

Dressing more lolita doesn't affect me at all besides mabye watching my posture more.
My writing is definately a different style an more or so old english like, but nothing else is different.
I think this would fit in with one of the older topics though.

same.

I speak very proper at times and at other times I sound almost like a sailor. xD

Growing up on BBC costume dramas, Ren Faires, and 4 intensive years of highschool drama has given me a tongue that does sound a little strange. I don't use thee and thou, but I very often use 'tis, and it comes out naturally and easily. My family has always insisted that I speak properly, and I do my best to keep that up.

As for correcting others on their grammar or word choice, that's a huge no-no. Propers ladies do not correct others on such trivial things unless they are asked. wink

Icesinger
I never have used 'tis' and 'thou' I just speak politely, slow, and clear. I know I'm gonna get killed for this but I think 'tis' and stuff is sorta silly, it reminds me on Ren fairs.

Same here.
Lolita is a style of dress, not a costume.
I think "playing the roll" of a lolita is only further making it seem like a costume to others.

when im in lolita, or feeling a bit lolita, i tend to speak in a more high picthed gitly voice, since i sound like a rough punk most of the time.
XD
i also use more proper body language.
i dont really change my labguage though.

be way to hard for a cussing b*****d like me.

You are not the only one, for I speak proper grammar quite often myself.
Though I do not find myself using 'tis' or' thou'
><~

I was raised mainly by my mom who taught me to be very polite, and many different manners and when to use them. Including directing the conversation from yourself, being interested in what others are saying, not making rude comments yet staying honest about your views. Cursing is certainly not good, but the best of grammer in constant use in not good either.

I tend not to speak much when out , mainly because a trans person is in danger enough out in a top band jeans much less lolita, and despite months of speech therapy a girlmode voice is an incredibly hard thing to maintain for long. So as I have no intention of going out as a kuro lolita and coming home looking like a guro lolita silence is the wisest policy. As for the whole tis issue, I always used that because it sounds nicer than it's and please keep in mind that means my entire life not just since starting to live as a lolita so it just always came naturally to me.

lol i say tis and the such very rarely, but it is just bad habbit when i do cuz i've been a drama kid for sooooooo long, and i am into shakespear WAY too much!^^ lol other then that, I just tend to say thing all out, as in, I use no abbriviations, and if I do, it is very rare...and I try to be very gramatically correct...but it has nothing to do with lolita. i have been like that my whole life...i'm ocd...so maybe that's why? lol^^'

Out of Lolita, I'll be the lone kid walking down the hallway spluttering, "******** a*****e," at anyone who intrudes upon my personal space. In Lolita I become remarkably kind and perhaps even a bit more mature and motherly/babysitter-like. It's... an amazing transformation. xD

I also use the most proper grammar I can muster (seeing as my student teaching the ESL classes is rubbing off on me, sometimes I'llbe caught saying things like, "this is suck" or "I play computer," - argh!!). I'm a Northerner, New Yawkah' born and raised, but I use y'all every so often as in - "Y'all are weird..."

When i'm around my good friends I do cuss and all that, however when I'm around others that I simply see in hallways or are in my classes that I ocassionaly talk to I'm very polite. ^=^ They think i'm an angel....ahhh if they only knew.
