"If they aren't, we'll hear about it soon enough," Amyla pointed out, trying to imagine the fuss Kayce would make if displeased. Yikes... that definitely wasn't a pretty thought.

"She can be the scout for when we find the monster," Kayce pointed out, polishing her stick on her swim suit. It was a very nice stick, after all, but polishing it was necessary.

"That's a great idea!" exclaimed Nereida, fully intent on catching the monster today. "We'll show that monster who's boss."

Dierdre squinted out into the horizon. The scout? What did that mean? Was she to go up and locate the monster first? Hopefully it'd be asleep then. Not really minding being blunt Dierdre pointed out what she though the obvious was, "Sure, and have any of we few seen the monster before?"

This was, after all, a very large under taking. Sea monsters were most likely dangerous, they should have a strategy on how to distract it if a get-away was necessary.

Kayce smirked a bit at Dierdre's bluntness. "I have not seen it. That's why we should see what it is before we decide to attack or trap it," she reasoned simply. "If it's a sea monster, the best escape is something out of the water's reach. A rock above the water, the shore... the raft."

These were, of course, all of the logical answers, and Kayce felt rather annoyed that she had to mention them all. Did this tall fae not see the simplicity of it?

Dierdre eyed Kayce airily. Something said that this one would be trouble. Stretching out her legs she gazed off toward the cove while speaking with a haughty tone. "If you be thinking that a sea monster wouldn't be able to swallow up this here raft easily, you've not been doing your studies."

She pursed her lips and continued, "And, we'll be in a cove, I've a high doubt that there's many places there that the sea monster wouldn't be able to reach." The more she thought about it, the more problems arose. "Plus, we'll be going into its lair, it'll know the territory better than we."

For some reason, this sea monster hunting business kept looking a little less bright.

Kasumoto nodded. " She is deathly afraid of water, only way to bathe her is a sponge bath... tis sad really." He said then sighed, noticing Ronnie blatently ignored him.

Tomoko slunk over to a cove of flowers near the other girls, picked two of them and pressed them together, almost like she was trying to polunate them.

(( slow this down you all! I get lost!))

Seeing they were all aboard, Nereida stood and began rocking the rudder stick in the center of the raft back and forth to move it towards the cove. "The sea monster is about this big at the head," she states, pausing to approximate something a little larger than a basketball. "With eight fearsome arms and covered in suckers. Last week it grabbed my foot in passing, and this week I'm gonna get revenge." She resumes rowing toward the cove.

"Hey, being afraid of water is a logical fear. At least she isn't severely claustrophobic," Amyla pointed out cheerfully, watching Tomoko go off elsewhere.

As soon as Kayce heard Nereida's description of the monster, she gave Dierdre a disdainful look. "A monster that big? I don't think it could swallow the raft. Maybe it could take you down, but I don't think it could get all of us at once," she said rather rationally, peering over the edge of the raft into the water. "I think our scout is afraid," she said solemnly to Nereida, watching the green fae navigate.

Dierdre pouted for a moment, feeling slightly abashed. "Well, she said nothing of it being a baby sea monster." For surely it couldn't be full grown at so small a size. And she just knew that Kayce had been expecting something bigger as well. "Or is your mind so small that you couldn't imagine a large one?"

This sea monster business seemed a bit more dull now. It wasn't that big and it would most likely take only one person to fight it. They'd have to go into the water to get it, which was fine by her, she could swim just fine. ((Yay for bird origins)) But was it really worth it? This monster hadn't destroyed towns or killed anyone... so it seemed a bit like a waste.

"And what are you after doing with it once you've caught it?"

Ronnie looked over at the only man around and realized that she'd forgotten he'd spoken to her. It was a real problem, and she'd often been told she should be looked at for it. "Oh, that's rather sad, I hope one day she'll be able to face her fears."

"It's not a baby sea monster," stated Nereida disdainfully. "Think of it as a midget one. With enough suction to pull off your pretty little face if it gets a good grip. But don't worry, we'll catch it."

Kayce had the good grace not to smirk at Nereida's comment. She did add a silent tally in her mental column of 'Respect for the Odd Web-handed Fae.' Yes, Nereida was definitely worthy of some respect.

She gave Dierdre a disdainful look. "It's a matter of common sense. The water isn't deep enough here for a really big sea monster," she pointed out, lightly fingering one edge of her stick. She was sorely tempted to walk the tall fae with it, but it was not worth starting a fight over. She had better ways to spend her energy.

It appeared that both of the other girls thought they could best her. Though Dierdre thought that Nereida could be likeable if Kayce hadn't been there to add un-witty remarks. Feeling that things could be made up there later, she ignored Nereida's comment. Even though, if the monster's suction was really that strong it probably would've pulled the girls leg off previously.

Forming her mouth into a sly smile she sent a bemused look toward Kayce. "Sure, and you're one to speak of common sense. You haven't a wit in you, otherwise you'd realize that sea monsters are big in more than one way." She took a moment to look down into the water before continuing. "I'd wager that the largest sea monsters could live here, if'n they were flat and wide and able skim the surface and swallow rafts like this whole." Another pause and she sent an indulget look toward Kayce, "I can only hope that someday you'll have the privelage of facing one of those."

Tomoko heard the comments being flower back and forth and her hands went to the sides of her face. " STOP FIGHTING! Can't we all just play nice and get along?!" She exclaimed, her wings fluttering together angerly and rapidly and her eyes narrowed as she marched up towards the water then hestited.

Kasumoto nodded then went agape at Tomoko. " Seems she does have a temper on her.. and look how close tot he water she is.." He mused aloud.

Nereida glanced over at the yellow fae. "We're not fighting. We're discussing the nature of a sea monster that only I've seen." She turned back to face Dierdre, still paddling them towards the cove. The water was getting deeper - if any of them were to get off now it would come up to their waist, probably. "I'm just saying that I prob'ly know more about the ocean and its creatures than you ever will. I'm, in a way, a sea monster, after all."

Kayce turned an innocently impassive expression toward Dierdre, more than a little fed-up with the fae's attitude. "Of course, and if it were that large and flat, it'd be too flat to swallow us," she tacked on the end of Dierdre's self-righteous speech. The little idiot...

The shouts from shore made her glance up for a moment, and then she simply ignored them. What proper response was there to that anyway? She did, however, acknowledge Nereida's expertise on the subject. "You're not a sea monster, really. You're a sea creature, but you're still the one who knows most about it," Kayce replied to Nereida. "Monsters are not good."
