Gonna have to buy a full-length slip to wear this one. ._. Not done, yet--but I'm paranoid about screwing up and also need advice on finishing the hem. I had planned on putting a pair of ruffles in the plain yellow material at the bottom. With how long it is now, though, I'm reconsidering and wondering if I ought to just hem it off clean.

Also, the yellow fabric doesn't really glow like that. The flash does weird things to it, though.
Inspired by a F+F dress, which was probably inspired by a brand dress somewhere along the line. Amanikitty informs me that it's a replica of a Mary Magdalene. <_<
I changed the neck-ties at the last minute. They looked silly crossing in front, so I made the angle a bit "steeper" to have it tie as a halter. Does it look okay?
Should I add embellishments? I thought about putting bows on the sleeves or at the shoulders-strap-connection. Uhm.

I think it would be cute criss crossing instead of the halter style, but that's just my personal preference. It's turning out so cute, though! With a cute headress and white socks and shoes, it would be an adorable outfit. <3
I think other's might have suggested, but the light yellow bows don't seem to sit right and they don't match. Idk. I think it's so cute and awesome for your first lolita dress. ;o;

Thanks for the compliments guys, but. Wow. Okay, so I'm on my brother's computer and ... holy cow the color is wrong on this screen. The color on my computer is correct, but it seems that everyone else must not be viewing the proper shade for the patterned portion of the dress. People had complained that it was too wild, and I conceeded since I'm a newb, but. If this is what they're seeing? I'm not so sure. gonk
It's actually a pastel yellow with slightly darker yellow flowers. This pastel yellow actually does match the color of the bows. On this computer it looks NEON, though. Jesus. o__o;
Right before I left, I got the sleeves attached:

It has been suggested that I remove the yellow bows entirely, and make the bow in front a detachable bow that just serves to decorate, rather than cinch and decorate, add a zipper to the back/side and smooth out the back since the ties and the sleeves have bunched it all up funny.
Also, I'm wearing a faux petticoat under the dress consisting of a white, poofy skirt and another smoother skirt. I don't have another to wear, yet. <_<;;
Like I said. Newbie me.

I just bought the Gingham Cherry Skirt with Belt from Meta, and decided that I hate the belt. Belt + Loli to me is just bad. I'm gonna cut it up and use it to make pig tail bows. :3

That dress looks really good, Boconotto. The only thing that bothers me a bit is all the bows and the halter bow choker.
Something that would look good is to use that ribbon to wrap around the front where you have the existing ribbon bow, and have it just tie in the back. I don't know, it is just a suggestion. I'll sketch it up for you if you want, but overall the dress is really pretty. 3nodding

The fabric is neon ish on my screen, but I never calibrated my monitor/whatev. But I was like 'There is no way she's using fabric that bright. I know Bocco better than that.' So, I figured it was more pastel. xD

I adjusted the angle to make it into a halter-tie. Now, in order to do the criss-cross tie, the dress gaps open in the front and reveals cleavage which is a huge and major no-no by anyone's estimation. >_<;
Maybe I should just chop them off, hem them under, and put little decorative bows there to hide the error?
HM: Yeah. ^_^; My monitor's color calibration has really lowlowlow saturation, so I guess that everyone is seeing it as way brighter than I was.

Cleavage wouldn't be good... o_o Hmm, I don't know. I am going to think about what other things you could do possibly.

Yeah. I've already decided on the zipper and the ties. I'll make detachable, decorative bows of various sizes for the shoulder/halter straps and under the bust.
The neck-halter-thing doesn't really bother me all that much when it's wrapped 'round and tied in front, either [I like it that way more than I do the crisscross, but ... I'm a total newbie]. I'll see how it looks like that without the bow under the bust, too.

Okay. The yellow dress is on hold becaaaause ... I can't find any effin' yellow zippers. =/ Annoying. So. I'm going to work on a different project for the time being, to get my mind off of things.
I'm going to do the oh-so-difficult project that I have been waiting to do for a while. The scalloped hem skirt. Here are the two fabrics that I have:

For the sake of size references, the cherries are in reality just a teenie bit smaller than a dime. I have three yards of the black and red and five of the pink, red and white.
The skirt will have a gathered waist and be worn over the white skirt I sewed a while back. It will be decorated with a detachable bow [composed of the fabric shown and white] and buttons in back and two small bows in front [similar to the bow in back]. Which should I start with and does this sound like a good idea?
I'll upload some of my sketches later on.
[edit]: TIME FOR BRUTAL HONESTY. 'kay. This is the skirt that I'm working on putting a scalloped hem on at the moment, and the outfit I kinda plan to wear it with [different socks and a pair of shoes, of course...]. Like I said, scalloped hem, and possibly some ribbon or bows for decoration. Advice? Critique?
Skirt Thingie Here
What I mostly want to know is if it's passable for casual lolita? Or just a total failure?

 I bought this fabric a few monthes ago and I've finally decided what I want to do to it!
 I want to remake this Victorian Maiden dress but I wanted to have a bottom like this:
Also I'm going to use view from this pattern to make a cute pajama shirt and shorts.

I just bought about ten different patterns that model or simply are victorian and civil war fashion!
I am so excited to get going on them I can't wait. I would upload links to the patterns but I want to get working on them. So you'll have to be patient. Actually I think some if not most of them are floating around the guild, probably in this subforum.
I just had to gush!

I'd be brutally honest if I could see an image. biggrin Way belated, but I reorganized my Photobucket account so it all got moved. D: And ... I kind of scrapped that skirt for the time being, too. It wasn't full enough for lolita at all, and I'm still having issues attaching scallops AFTER the fact. So. Yeah. Going to start it over.
