FY has more vocalized songs, which means a lot of room is left for not so great songs.
In Ceres, the four vocalized songs that are used in the anime are all great.
The best FY in my opinion are:
Star
In my Universe there is you (Hotohori)
All of the Nuriko songs
Aoi Arashi (Yui)
Eikoden opening song
Pride of Ice (Soi)
Never Get Away (Suboshi)
Still Love You (Miaka)
Iryouni Aishiteru (Miaka) (spelling?)
Mizu Kagami (Chichiri)
Destiny

I haven't watch nor heard anything from Ayashi no Ceres yet so I go for Fushigi Yugi.

It would actually depend on what mood I'm in..
AnC if I wanted to relax or if I'm depressed, I love the melodies and the songs are beautiful.
FY I would listen to if I was in more of an energetic mood..

i've heard ayashi no cere's song for the beginning and i think it's really good ^_^. i like both the singing version and the instrumental version. but i've never heard of fushigi yuugi songs. is it songs good for fushigi yuugi?

While I do love Ayashi no Ceres' Scarlet and Mugen no Kaze... Fushigi Yuugi still tops the list. Particularly these songs:
Setsunakuttemo... Zutto - Tasuki
Furuete Kudasai - Soi(I like this one so much more than Pride of Ice)
I Wish - Yui
Otome no Ranman - Nuriko
Mizu Kagami - Chichiri

My top list would be Ceres music because I have never heard FY and would like to I read the manga but I have never seen the anime .

Hello, I'm new. I like Fushigi Yuugi, because there is more lyrics than basic music, and it helps me to practice Japanese. My favorite Fushigi Yuugi are by the voice actor who plays Nuriko. I just love Kaze no uta and Perfect World. heart Ancient~Waffle i was just wondering...i havent seen the ayashi no ceres anime yet but i've heard "scarlet" and the instrumental "condolence" (or something like that sweatdrop ). And i already said i have the first seven episodes for FY. So i looked for the songs on the internet and currently have the OP and ending for the first season (tokimeki no doukasen & itooshii hito no tame ni) then i found "star" and "Ashita no Watashi wo Shinjitai" and last of all i have an AMV of tamahome's theme song. putting all my personal info aside, which series has the better sounds? Fushigi Yuugi or Ayashi no Ceres?

I'd have to say Ceres... my reasoning? I own the first 7 episodes of Fushigi Yuugi and I really wasn't too impressed with the songs I heard sweatdrop Not that I don't like FY of course, but it could have been better. Although maybe if I saw more of FY my mind may be challenged xd I've seen Ceres in it's entirety though and I really loved Scarlet, the opening them 3nodding OH! And I really enjoyed the first ending theme song, One ~ Even if This World Comes to an End, I Won't Leave You 4laugh It was so peppy! Heh which is a bit odd considering how depressing Ceres can get, maybe it was to keep people from crying all the time XD; And I'm pretty sure the song Shuro sang was called Mugen no Kaze or Eternal Wind and that was so pretty heart So yep I adored the Ceres songs/music whee mrgreen

I don't like Ayashi no Ceres, so I hadn't had the chance to hear its music, but I downloaded all of the available music from gendou (except for Scarlet; I've had that for several years now.)
And in my own personal opinion, the BGMs I heard are decent (Apocalyptic Strings and Heavens and the Earth), but the vocals aren't anything to gawp at. *shrug* I liked Mugen no Kaze. I'll probably hang onto that one.
As far as FY vocals that I really love, there are a bunch:
