Jessica shrugged; she didn't even know what song they were talking about, but then she didn't listen to much music. She did have the occasional Evanescence c.d. and quite a few Weird Al and Dr. Demento collections, and the occational song over the internet, but that was nothing compaired to all the songs popular today.
Keen on the feelings of other, Jessica could almost feel the sudden, and rather random mood change of Gallen. But passed it off as nothing since it didn't last long at all. With all the people in the room it was easy to be mistaken.

Gaius inched over to the song selector, gripping the mike close to him as a lifeline. Going through the list and selecting one wasn't going to do him any good, so Gaius closed his eyes, praying silently, and ran his finger down the list before stopping about mid-way. He cracked an eye open, wondering just what he'd gotten.
"Uh... Savage Garden... 'Crash and Burn.' Alright, I can do that, I hope... er, not too mushy anyways..."
Gulping down his fear, Gaius stepped up to the stage and after a stammering start, opened up his voice and sang.
"When you feel all alone, and the world has turned it's back on you..."
It was a well-kept secret, but Gaius had a natural talent when it came to vocals. Though untrained, his voice was sweet and clear and strong, the kind that one would expect in the latest indie band. Gaius's nerves loosened up once more with the help of the music and the vodka. He even managed a genuine grin.
Finishing the song, Gaius ducked his head to hide his blush and fumbled with the mike, not sure what to do with it. "Er, uh, sorry, wasn't my best..."

Jessica listened quietly. She didn't know the song, but she enjoyed the man's voice. The song was encouraging, also; she rather liked the style.
Now that he was done, she hoped that no one would decide to push her up to the mike. She hated hearing the sound of her own voice amplified, that and she was so shy that she thought she might explode. She, like her mother, had a good voice. But she never really used it beyond singing to her pets, who enjoyed it thoroughly. Yet, if they really wanted to make her do it she would... possibly.

"Awsome!!!!" Gallen applauded, he was dumb struck but knew the young man had a voice in him "very nice!! We should form a band Gaius, so who is next? Wait there Gaius yer not done, ye owe me a duet and Sophie." Gallen grinned "Jess? I bet you have a pritty voice."

Sophie leaned back in her seat, clapping with a grin on her face as Gaius returned. "See? I knew you were good." She nearly stood up to give him a well-rounded hug among friends, but thought against it, as it might be a tad awkward between those who had only just met. Instead, she patted her hand against an open seat, motioning for him to occupy the space.
She then gave Gallen an odd look coupled with a smirk. "Yer crazy if ye think I'm gonna go up t' the mike again," she laughed, attempting to imitate his accent and not doing a good job of it. "Bloody crazy."

"I... uh... I'm not too good. Besides that, I wouldn't know what to sing." she lied, blushing nervously. Half of her wanted to go up on that stage and show what she could do, but it was the other, shy half that was currently winning. Quickly her mind raced through possible songs she could sing for the people, just in case they forced her to go up. It was always a good idea to have several backup plans.

Mitchell knew the exact song he wanted to sing.
Clapping, he laughed as Gaius sang. It was amazing, he wouldn't lie! He just got giggly when people did kareoke drunk ... brought back amazing memories.
