Natsumi was rather confused as to why he was laughing.. It was true, it didn't. So what was so funny?

But before she could question her stomach had interupted, she gave a nod, when the pregnant stomach wanted to eat there wasn't much denying it. And this was no different, she was just thankful for his offer. "Yes... Please." She moved towards a different drawer, pulling out a sweater. "Uhm.. I will be out in a second." she nodded awkwardly, moving into her bathroom so she could change into the sweater, without the extra heat from a second shirt.

After a moment or two, changing the shirts then fixing her hair again, she returned from the bathroom, moving over to him as if to say 'lead the way.'

He quirked a brow as she retreated to change shirts, but said nothing. As flustered as she had been when he had learned of her pregnancy, it wasn't surprising that she was still trying to hide it from the other islanders. Once she returned, he rose to his feet and, leaving the book where it had fallen, led the way to the door, opening it for her to exit, then closing it behind them both and walking at her side for the cafeteria.

.:Roasted Natsumi Anyone?:.
Natsumi, Zach & Nita

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi frowned to herself, following a beatle on it's path towards the beach before losing it.. Again. Newt had made this look so much easier... After their little incident together, she'd picked up his habit of sneaking out at night to catch a few bugs for a snack. She wore her sweater this time, both to keep her comfortably warm and to hide her pregnancy... She had been lucky newt hadn't noticed. Along with that was one of her plain skirts, and sandals. She glanced around the edge of the trail just before her feet hit the sand of the beach... Beatles were preffered... Not so sticky, like the worms had been. Just pretend they are peanuts... she reminded herself, before a flicker of light caught her attention. Turning towards a noticable fire on the beach she curiously started for it, momentarily forgetting about her beatle hunt.

Zachary Bloodstone
The fire in question was nestled in a small hole dug out into the sand. Within it, pieces of paper curled, smoked, and burned. On the side, standing over the flames, was Zachary, ripping pages out of his notebook and tossing them to their destruction. Occassionally he bent down to pick up a bottle of vodka to soak the crackling fire and keep it burning.

Between the blinding brightness of the fire and the comfortable monotony of his actions, he didn't notice the approaching person. He reached into the notebook again, pulling out a pair of pages and crumpling and ripping them in the process. A careless toss and they were swallowed up in the unforgiving element.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi slowed as she got closer to the fire, driven by simple curiosity now... She felt her heart skip a beat at the first sight of the person tearing something... Some paper. The horns, the colors, with the added dramatic effect of the fire made him look like something out of hell.

She tried to shake that thought, it was just another islander. Perfectly harmless, right? Everyone else was... Either way, her curiosity was ebbed. It wasn't someone she knew and.. well, he looked busy. No need to say hello. And with that, she was ready to turn and go back the way she came.

Zachary Bloodstone
It was only when she got close that he heard her footsteps in the sand. After wavering a moment with a piece of paper in hs hand, he stopped, snapping the significantly more empty notebook shut and letting the page slip out of his fingers into the awaiting flames.

"Out late?" he remarked. He'd spent so long staring into the fire that the sea, beach, and jungle were all a splotchy dark blur. He blinked a couple of times, but whoever had approached him was nothing more than a human-shaped shadow a ways off. Some night vision he had, thwarted by twenty minutes of of bright light.

Natsumi Tanaka
She jumped a bit when he spoke, fidgeting some. She almost felt like she'd been spying on him... Which made her feel more than awkward. "Y-Yes..." She admitted, turning back to face him. Clasping her hands together she simply stared, not sure what to say.. but also feeling obligated to say.. something. Anything. But that was a failed attempt, and her eyes slowly peered towards the fire... Vaugly wondering what he was doing, it certiantly wasn't hot dogs and smores. Awkardly, she continued, deciding to explain herself atleast alittle bit. "I was.. getting something to eat." She decided to refrain from saying what that something was.

Zachary Bloodstone
"I have to admit, it's nice to hear someone who sounds scared. I thought I was the only one. You know, if FDR had seen this place, he'd have changed his tune pretty quickly. 'Only thing we have to fear is fear itself'... hah." The other person's voice sounded female, but he couldn't see much. Was she new to the island? Still holding the notebook tightly with his left, he rubbed his eyes. "I guess I should mention you overshot the cafeteria by about a mile."

Things were finally coming into focus a bit. Her staring didn't go unnoticed; he rolled his eyes and his tail curled. From the odd look of her feet and the noticable tail, he gathered she'd been on the island long enough that he wasn't the first islander she'd met sporting the physical features of an animal or seven. Ivy alone had been the only islander to take a positive interest in his appearance, and things were not about to change. He looked her over again, curling his lip and letting one of the feline fangs that was threatening to protrude from his mouth show. "It's rude to stare."

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi blinked, head spinning to try and wrap around what he was talking about. Fearing fear or something along those lines. She let out a meek awkward chuckle when he had laughed, pretending as though she had caught it.
She practically choked when he mentioned the cafeteria, yes that was true but.. thats not what she was eating. But she couldn't outright tell him that she was flouncing around eating bugs. "No.. I .. wasn't going there i was..." she gulped, trailing off. What would he think if he knew about that? But the conversation was obviously heading that direction, and she wasn't helping it.

She squeaked when he mentioned she was staring, not having noticed that until he said it... "Aa! I--" She quickly averted her eyes "I did not mean to.. I am sorry." The situation was getting even more awkward.. and the tone of his voice on that last part wasn't exactly reassuring.

Zachary Bloodstone
He swapped the notebook from one hand to the other so that he could hold his scale-covered left up in a silencing gesture. "Never mind," he grumbled.

"Of course you didn't. No one means to. You just couldn't avoid it because I look like a monster. Right?" The frills that had replaced his ears flared a little as he spoke. His fingers played along the spine of the notebook, claws occasionally hooking into the leatherlike material. Sunken, slitted eyes looked at and through the girl he spoke to. "But it's not just appearance. I am one. I've... I've hurt people before. Or tried." His next words came in a quiet breath. "I couldn't help it."

He gained his composture quickly, trying to brush some hair to the side of his face. "Is that why you're looking at me like that? Is it? Who else told you?"

Natsumi Tanaka
She caught the movement, stopping her apologies abruptly, then moving her eyes back to the ground. She wasn't even sure if she should start looking at him when he started talking again.. but it would have been rude not to, so she rose her eyes to meet his, biting her lip some.
A monster? No... well... He did, but that wasn't why she was staring. Heck, she stared at everyone... mostly trying to guess their animals. Her heart was beating faster already, though it was slight until he said something about hurting people. Was he threatning her? Had she really made him that mad with staring? And what if he did? It was the dead of night... Alone on a beach... That didn't help the situation at all. She may not have been too scared before but she was getting there now.

She tried to compose herself, tried not to act childish and get frightened just because it was dark and there was someone talking about hurting people. She turned her eyes away to make sure she wouldn't stare again. "N-No... No one said.. anything. I was just trying to guess what you were, that is all." she said meekly, unable to come up with a lie as to why else she would be staring she just hoped the truth wouldn't be as insulting.

Zachary Bloodstone
"Guess what I am!? Good luck... whatever I am doesn't exist in nature for a good reason. For all intents and purposes, I'm a dragon." He spread his arms aggressively and took a step toward the girl. "Happy? Suppose that's the only entertainment now that doesn't involve serious injury. Guessing what everyone's going to become. Because you can't just ask."

After the short bit of frustration he'd released, he stood breathing somewhat heavily and clasping the notebook. Being angry was not fun, and going out of his way to scare people was not helpful to his situation. He'd done enough scaring when he wasn't in his right mind. He took a few steps so that the fire was now between them, and began to rip pages out of the notebook again to fill the silence. Rather than apologize for his actions, he chose to ignore that they'd happened.

Nita MacNeal
For the second time that day, Nita found herself wandering beyond the village. And, for the second time that day, there was a fire on the beach. Two people this time, and the scent of burning paper on the breeze. The smaller person she recognized, even at a distance.

"Hey! Natsumi!" she called, approaching the pair. "And.. Zach?" She fumbled for the other's name having only met him the once... when he had yelled at her and Rex. That was on the beach as well, come to think of it...

Natsumi Tanaka
For a moment, she thought her heart stopped... A mixture of general fear of him and a guilty feeling from getting him so mad at her. She found herself stumbling backwards, only to trip on her own feet in a slight panic and fall backwards onto her rear.
Asking would have been much ruder than guessing... Wouldn't it? And why on earth would injury be fun? Her mind was racing as he walked away, unable to say anything... And wishing she could. By now, she figured her reaction was aboutto get him mad at her...

And then she heard a familiar voice. At the moment, Nita seemed like her guardian angel. "N-Nita!" She squeaked, looking back towards her, she quickly pushed herself to her feet, moving over towards the familiar woman with a rather terrified smile. She wasn't going to run off at the moment, she felt that would be by far the rudest thing she had done, but she atleast wanted to be near Nita... For comfort reasons. "Z..Zach?" she questioned Nita, having caught a hint of the name. Her voice still trembling and weak, it sounded like she might have been ready to cry.

Zachary Bloodstone
Zach continued to throw paper to the flames. He glanced up when Nita said his name, but looked away just as quickly. He wouldn't have recognized her if the other girl - Natsumi, apparently - had said her name. The last time they'd met she'd been perfectly human. This was evidently no longer the case, judging by her fluffy tail and full coat of fur. When had they met before...

Oh, yes. It had been that time he and Rex had argued about something. He narrowed his eyes a little. There wasn't any way he'd remember it now. It had been months and months ago, and the only firsthand record he had of it now was currently a pile of ash in that fire. Whatever it was, though, it had been quite an argument.

"Nita," he acknowledged flatly. There were less than ten pages left now to burn.

Nita MacNeal
Nita jumped as Natsumi fell backward into the sand. When the girl came to stand with her, Nita put a protective and reassuring hand on her shoulder. "It's okay," she said softly. "I'm here." Not that Nita was a terribly effective guardian (as she'd thought only a few hours earlier, speakign with Pyroth), but at least she was company-- and a witness. The cameras and microchips never even entered her thoughts.

"It's been awhile," she said to Zach, sharp eyes taking in the extent of his changes. The tip of her tail twitched slightly, but otherwise Nita was still and on the alert.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi bit her lip, putting a hand on the hand that had reached her shoulder and squeasing it a bit. Comfort.. Friend.. Witness. There it was. A false blanket of security she was more than willing to accept. She gulped, trying not to make her fear as obvious as it was getting, but also making sure to definatly not stare at this Zach person.

Zachary Bloodstone
"Can't disagree with that," he said idly, his tail swishing on the sand. The last page fluttered into the awaiting flames. He dropped the hollowed-out book on the sand.

The fire had once again screwed up his ability to see in the dark. He could barely see Nita and Natsumi now. He didn't care much, either. Natsumi had grated on his nerves for some reason. He'd been angry, and she'd just stood there and let him take things out on her. That wasn't how it was supposed to work, was it?

He brushed his hands together and start to walk past the two in the direction of the path back to the village. He'd finished what he came to the beach for. Never mind that the first law of the island was never to have privacy...

Nita MacNeal
Nita frowned slightly at Zach, watching him drop the last bit of paper into the fire. As he walked off rudely, Nita grumbled and kicked some sand in his direction. Fortunately, the wind wasn't blowing hard enough to throw the grit back at her.

"Are you okay?" Nita asked Natsumi. "What did he say to you?" Her frown deepened and she patted the girl's arm.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi shifted uncomfortably as he walked past, looking back to Nita as her voice reached her. "I..." Natsumi stubmled, looking a bit shakey. "I bleeive.. I stared.. and then he was mad... Something about hurting people.." The whole experience seemed to be blurring in her mind now, no real memory of the whole thing sticking except the look on his face.. The way he threw his arms at her. And for whatever reason, Nita's kindness wasn't helping her calm down any... It only made her want to cling on the familiar woman and cry, though she tried to refrain from that.

Nita MacNeal
Nita blinked. The whole explanation didn't make a lot of sense, but it was quite possible the encounter itself hadn't been exactly sensible. From her previous experience with Zach, he was prone to shouting and terrifying short girls.

"Hey, it's okay. He's gone now. He yelled at me once, too, and I was really glad to have someone there with me." She pushed her bangs out of her face and sighed at the small, smoky fire. "We should probably put this out..." The red panda girl started shovelling sand over the flames with one foot, careful not to get too close. Nita was actually the same way when upset; someone being too nice to her just made her fall apart more. And then she'd start hyperventilating and her face would be red and blotchy for hours. It suddenly occurred to her that with her leathery black nose, it probably couldn't get all red and swollen anymore.

Point one for being a red panda?

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi nodded, he was gone.. still she felt bad in a way. Sure he had been beyond scary and agressive to her, but she had brought it upon herself, hadn't she?

She turned to the fire, nodding and giving a quick whipe of her eyes. "Yes..." she nodded, allready feeling better. Her heart was starting to slow back down, rational thought returning.. The intial panic was ebbing. She mimiced Nita's actions, sliding her webbed foot through the sand to kick it onto the fire. Slightly suprised by jsut how much more sand the webbing was catching. "Thankyou..." she offered a smile to Nita, looking better allready, dispite perhaps a bit of a red face.

Nita MacNeal
"Don't worry about it. I guess he's just like that..." Nita sighed. Zach was one of the few people on the Island she actively disliked, the current situation only driving home her poor first impression.

She hid a grin, noticing how well Natsumi's foot worked as a shovel. "I think that's about it," she said, examining the remains of the fire, now reduced to a pile of ash and sand. "I'd meant to come out here and swim a bit, or just look at the water but... Would you like me to walk to you back to the village? Or you can stay out here a bit, I certainly don't mind." Nita smiled sideways at Natsumi, hoping the girl had calmed down a bit.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi nodded to Nitas statement. Fire was out, everything was good... In the time it had taken to cover the fire, she had calmed down significantly. Able to distract herself with the action at hand she had gotten her mind off of it.

She shifted, thinking over the two options a moment, she really just wanted to go hide in her duplex at the moment. "If... It is not too much trouble, could you walk me?" she bit her lip, looking to the shadowy figure of Nita hopefully. With the fire out, there wasn't much light, but the moon seemed to be doing a fairly good job. But at the same time, after that incident the dark was starting to creep her out.

Nita MacNeal
Putting the fire out had also given Zach plenty of time to get far ahead of them, so they shouldn't run into him on the way to the village.

"It's really no trouble," Nita said, casting a very briefly wistful glance at the ocean. It would still be there tomorrow night, and she really didn't mind walking a friend home. She could see well enough in the dark anyway.

Nita began to walk, her furred feet leaving little prints that were quickly filled in by the shifting sand.

Natsumi had long ago returned to her Duplex, after thanking Nita and bidding her goodbye she had attempted to get some sleep. However that failed miserably.
For the past 3 hours, she had laid in bed, everytime she'd start to drift off it would be shattered by a sudden memory of Zach. That.. angry expression. It made her more than uneasy... She hated the feeling that someone was that mad at her with all her being. Someone was dangerous towards her... and there wasn't anyone to protect her now. No borhters... No parents... Completely alone.
Well no.. Not true, she had her precious little bundle with her. She let a hand trail to the rounded area, letting out a sigh. That only made the situation more edgy... Her baby. What if he had hurt her? What if he had hurt her child? She couldn't think of anything worse than that... And it scared her, more than anything had ever before.

She shifted uncomfortably, finding tears welling up in her eyes again. The only thought in her mind was how alone and unprotected she was.... Which lead her to a new thought. She needed to go be with someone... Someone that made her feel better. Like when she'd go to her brothers room and get in bed with him after a bad dream... Or curl up in her dad's lap after a bad day at school... That comfort.

With that in mind, she got out of bed, moving out the door and to the nearest person. Her downstairs neighbor, Thomas.

.:Monsters under the bed.. Or was that in?:.
Natsumi & Thomas
Part one

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi glanced around the darkness of the outdoors... Her mind was playing tricks on her, she knew it. Every time the wind blew she felt herself a bit scared something would pop out and attack her... She was vaugly aware that she was over reacting, but the whole incident was still very fresh on her mind. It had only been 3 hours since it happend... and she'd never encountered anything like that before.

And now, here she was, standing outside of Thom's duplex in her pajamas. She stared at the door for a long while, debating wether she should really knock or not... The wind rustled a nearby push, causing her heart to jump into her chest and her fist to rap on the door. With that done, she stood, fidgeting and glancing back every now and then expecting something to be there.
She felt bad and a bit wierd for waking Thom.. But she didn't have the guts to walk all the way to Nita's in the dark... And she didn't want to be alone at the moment. Plus, Thom was fairly reassuring for this matter.

Thomas Brinley
Thom, meanwhile, was comfortable curled up in bed, blissfully asleep for the past couple of hours. If there was one thing the island succeeded in, it was forcing him to rest. There wasn't much else to do once the sun set, which meant a days of early to bed, early to rise. The rest had done him well, loathe as he was to admit that the island had been good for something. Of course, it wasn't doing him any good when there were irritating taps at his door in the middle of the night.

Naturally a light sleeper, the soft knocks were all it took to rouse him. He grimaced, yawned, and cracked an eye to glance towards the door. Surely it wasn't morning already... Still half asleep, and forgetting his lack of shirt because of it, he tossed aside the blanket and slid off the bed, stumbling through the darkened room for the door. "Comin', comin'," he muttered, not that it was loud enough for anyone to hear from outside. He flicked on the light--cursed when it stung his eyes--and, before they had adjusted completely, opened the door, blinking out at the woman. "...Natsumi? Somethin' wrong?"

Natsumi Tanaka
Guilt. There it was. Not that she had any doubt in her mind that he had been asleep when she knocked, she still felt bad to see that tired expression. "I am sorry to wake you..." Her eyes breifly caught the leck of shirt, getting the tiniest of blushes as she locked her eyes on his. Wandering eyes wasn't polite... Ofcourse, staring hadn't been either. She edged closer, trying not to get too close in the effort. "I could not sleep, and I was kind of scared... so... I..." she trailed off, hoping that had made enough sense. Atleast she was already feeling a bit more comfortable in the companionship of the other person.

Thomas Brinley
"No, no, s'alright," he assured her, only to trail off with a yawn. "I'll be awake in a few minutes, trust me." He wiped his eyes, nodding to show he was listening, then raised a brow, giving her a curious expression. However, he simply gestured her inside. "C'min, then. Make y' self comfortable." He closed the door once she had entered, but instead of returning to the bed, headed towards the bathroom. "Somethin' 'appen t' spook you?"

Natsumi Tanaka
She moved inside almost as soon as he offered it.. An immediat releif hit her as she entered the duplex. Safe. She let out a tiny sigh, not going too far from Thom, but not standing quite as close as she'd been. Ofcourse when he headed towards the bathroom she turned to find an interesting spot to stare at on the wall. "Mn..." She muttered meekly, "Someone... At the beach.. He had been mad at me." She paused, biting her lip. "Very mad..."

Thomas Brinley
"That's not good," he replied intelligently. Stepping into the bathroom, he turned on the faucet and proceeded to splash water on his face several times, finally turning it off and groping blindly until his hand found a towel. He dried his face, discarded the towel on a rack, and returned to the main room, looking a bit more awake, at the very least. It was a start. "Why would 'e be mad at you? At that, who was it?

Natsumi Tanaka
She waited for his return, fidgeting idley while doing so. She looked a bit sleepy herself, It was possibly 2 or 3 am by now, she wasn't sure on exacts.
She looked to Thom as he returned, frowning a bit "I.. I did not mean to stare, I just did and then he begain to yell. Anything I had said did not help at all... He only got more mad." she shifted, unhappy with remembering the experience.. but at the same time happy to be able to share it. Like a nightmare... It felt better to tell someone about it. "Then I fell... Nita showed up." she fidgeted, pausing long enough to find herself somewhere to sit. "Zach... I think his name was that."

Thomas Brinley
"Ahhh..." So that was it. Another island freak show sore about his appearance. Somehow that didn't surprise him. Nodding his understanding, he retreated to sit on the edge of the bed, patting the space beside him in a gesture for her to sit as well. "I see.... Lots of th' islanders are pretty touchy about. Can't really blame 'em, I s'pose. I ended up gettin' attacked after a soccer match f' saying someone 'ad big feet a few weeks back," he admitted, frowning faintly at the memory. "Just 'ave to 'ope they're not th' violent type. Good thing Nita stepped in, eh? Can't say I know a Zach, hmm.."

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi moved to sit next to him, more than eager to take the offer. Though his shirtless body had struck her attention again, the simple need for a companion overrode the teenage anxiety of such things.
She nodded as he spoke... She couldn't blame them either. She was hardly changed at all and it made her nervious about her apperance.

She seemed a bit shocked that someone would attack him, but let it go... She had been around enough men to know not to bother anymore with the subject of being attacked. "Yes.." She nodded with a bit of a smile. She was very very grateful that Nita had showed up. She let the conversation fall silent, wondering if she should really go on... "He.. Said something about hurting people..." she stared at the floor, that had been the intial thing that scared her. Mixing that with his tone and the fact he threw his arms at her like had.

Shaking the thoughts, she yawned into her hand, then folded her hands over her stomach in an almost protective mannor.

Thomas Brinley
"It...wouldn't surprise me," he admitted thoughtfully, lifting a hand to rub his temple. "I've 'eard that shortly before I arrived on th' island, one of the lab staff was attacked. Nearly killed, as I recall. With everyone turnin' into animals, it makes sense that some of th' animal side'd come out. I think... I think th' snake wants me eatin' live food. Don't think I could stomach it, but th' stuff in th' cafeteria just doesn't appeal t'me anymore. As an example." He shrugged, then cracked a smile, letting his hand fall. "No worries, right? I'll make sure no one 'urts your or th' baby." Not that he could really enforce such a claim if she was meeting people like Zach when he wasn' around, but he was tired, so that didn't occur to him.

Natsumi Tanaka
Killed? That was horrible... She bit her lip, thoughts wandering. What if she ended up like that? She knew she couldn't live with herself if she ever hurt anyone... Wait, maybe that Zach person felt the same?
It was a passing thought... She still wasn't sure, and her more childish mind simply dubbed the man dangerous and moved on. But it was a thought for later.

She looked at him, live food? Well.. Technically the stuff she was eating was live... But she didn't want anyone knowing about that. She practically beamed at his next statement... It had been exactly what she was wanting to hear. It didn't occur to her that he might not be able to back his claim up, or even the fact it might have been wrong of her to want him to sacrifice himself for her. For the moment it didn't matter... She was being childish about the whole thing anyways. "Thankyou..." She refrained from hugging him, though the want of a hug occured to her... The missing shirt acted as a forcefield.

She bit her lip, deciding on one more favor... Mentally noting to pay him back somehow later. She fidgeted, rubbing at her own arm. "Could I.. stay here? Only for tonight..." she hesitated a moment, then continued "If I am not being a problem... That is." Stayings the night seemed like a good idea at the time, forgetting the fact someone could notice and assume the more common reason for leaving a man's room in the morning.

Thomas Brinley
"Any time," he yawned, waving away her thank you. That was what he was here for, right? Standing between fair maiden and certain death or something of the like. If he lost a few ribs in the process, then who cared? Better than rotting on an island without any legs, after all.

At her question, he quirked a brow, eyeing her curiously. The thought about reactions the following morning had occurred to him, but that meant he simply expected it had occurred to her as well and that it wouldn't bother her. Surprising, judging by the reaction just to him discovering her pregnancy, but maybe she was over it. Or something. Finally nodded, he gestured for her to make herself comfortable on the bed, then somewhat reluctantly climbed to his feet. "Y' welcome to, as long as it won't bother you. No problem whatsoever. Make y' self comfortable." Pacing over to the light switch, he rested one hand on it, glancing back to her and waiting for her go-ahead.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi had moved on from the pregnancy thing.. He said he didn't think she was horrible, so there wasn't too much to worry about. It was easy to accept coming from him.. He had played a sport with her afterall, his views were obviously different from alot of those back home.

She followed his gesture, blinking at the bed... "Aa.. N-No I can.. sleep on the floor... I don't want to bother you..." that was what she had planned anyways, the idea of sleeping IN his bed had never even entered her mind. Not that it was him completely, she didn't want to intrude... She'd already woken him up and asked to stay there, actually taking his bed would be going too far, wouldn't it?

Thomas Brinley
He blinked twice, then laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. "Natsumi, I'm insulted. Y' trust me with y' life, but y' don't trust me t' sleep next to you? I'll keep m' hands to m' self, promise." He grinned, still shaking his head in amusement, and gestured towards the bed with his free hand once more. "Relax. I insist. If anyone winds up on th' floor, it'll be me."

Natsumi Tanaka
Insulted? She bit her lip as he spoke... well it was true, but that didn't keep it from being awkward. To be honest, she hadn't thought he would try to touch her... Only the old rule of not being able to sleep over with boys, let alone share beds with them was causing her to find it strange.

"No.. I mean..." she blushed, defeated in the moment. "Do not sleep on the floor. Please?" With that, and mentally telling herself she was an adult and could do whatever she pleased, she kicked off her sandals and scooched to the other side of the bed, getting herself comfortable and as close to the edge as she could so as to not take up too much space.

Thomas Brinley
Aha, he won. Inwardly Thom gloated, but visably he merely smile, waiting until she had settled herself to flick off the light. After stumbling back through the darkness, he settled on the bed at her side, shifting once or twice to make himself comfortable before falling still with a sigh. He closed his eyes, murmured a 'good night', and hardly a moment later he was asleep, all but forgetting Natsumi was even there in favor of rest.

Natsumi Tanaka
"Good night.." Natsumi echoed meekly. At the moment, she wasn't at all worried about him... She had no idea what she was worried about. Just the fact that he was closer than he ought to be and shirtless... Which made her heart rate rise ever so slightly. She was still young, it showed occassionally.. and now was one of those occassions.

However, dispite all the awkward feelings at the time there was also a bit of a comforting one. He had promised to protect her, and her child... Promised not to touch her. As though Thom was some sort of magical force feild, with him right there that meant Zach, or anyone else couldn't harm her. And with that thought, she relaxed enough to nod off to sleep.

Sometime while Thom is occupied, a small brown-paper wrapped package is left on his doorstep.

A note is taped to the top:

As promised, I was able to manage to get a recording of the World Cup games. It was an exciting season, or so the football-afficianatos tell me.

~Dr. Duvert

In the box is a stack of burned DVDs in unmarked cases, save for numbers 1-5 to indicate the order.

However, when Thom does begin to watch them, on the very first game (and on the last, final match) At the very begining, the stadium holds a full minute of Silence - for the tragic death of six team members (whose names they call out, Thom's included) from Thom's team, as well as the deaths of a few more who were in the same bus (the manager, the driver, and a few others who traveled with and helped the team). Only a few survived the wreck, all of whom sustained injuries that at the very least will likely stop them from ever playing professional sports again.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi was naturally first to stirr. For most of the time since her transformation she'd been waking up easier, and now was no different. It seemed the sun was up, the birds were chirping, all the symptoms of a bright and early morning. She let out a loud yawn, rubbing at her eyes as she sat up. As she lowed her hands from her eyes one met something soft, causing her to jump in suprise, jerking her hand away from Thom's shoulder. She flinched, hoping she hadn't waken him in her forgetfulness. The memories of the night before came flooding back at the sight of Thom.. Zach, Nita, then embaressingly having to come ask for a place to spend the night.

Thomas Brinley
Thom did not like mornings. He did not like wakening until he did so on his own free will, or his dream ended. Alarm clocks were pure evil, and sunlight in the eyes was not much better. But a light tap on the shoulder with nothing to reinforce it? It didn't phase him. He shifted only slighty with the brief touch, quickly resettling himself, mouth slightly ajar while he rested. At least he didn't snore.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi bit her lip as he stirred, watching him a moment, before letting out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding. Good, she hadn't woken him up...
But now what? She slowly scooted herself out of the bed, pausing everytime he would stirr or shift, or if the movement made the bed bounce in the slightest. It wasn't the hardest feat... Something she had mastered slipping into her parent or brother's beds.

But once she was free, she was left standing there, not sure what to do. She tried not to inspect the room too much, being nosey was no good. But her eyes couldn't help but wander.
She was wide awake now. She could try to leave... But that might come off as rude, plus the door would wake him. But if she stayed that seemed creepy, not to mention awkward for her.

After debating the options she found herself a seat, laying back with her eyes shut so she could ponder over various things about he Island without staring at Thom's belonging's.

Thomas Brinley
An inspection of the room, really, would have produced nothing of any interest. Thom didn't seem to have even unpacked completely. Most of his belongings lay strewn about a slightly burnt looking suitcase. On top of the empty dresser lay a book and, surprisingly, a yo-yo, and large box in one corner held what soccer balls still remained of the lab's original gift. On the whole the room was rather dull.

After a brief wall, as if sensing that something was amiss, Thom too stirred and, somewhat reluctantly, awakened. He yawned and cracked an eye, staring absently at the spot on the bed where Natsumi had rested. And then it clicked that she was gone, and both eyes opened, blinking twice before he rolled onto his back to inspect the room. Catching sight of her in the chair, he again yawned and sat up, scratching a hand through his hair while trying to decide if she was awake or not. If she had slept there all night, by god...

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi cracked an eye open as he stirred, breifly wondering how much time had passed when she had first gotten up. Thinking sometimes seemed to fluctuate time into a matter of seconds when it could have been hours, or vice versa.

Once he was up completely she let both eyes open, smiling as she piped cheerfully. "Good morning." For the moment, the fact she had slept in his bed wasn't too embaressing... He seemed more like a brother now, promising to protect her and then to sleep in his bed. It brought back old memories of when she was only five years old. Ofcourse her brother's bare chests had never made her blush... So maybe not exactly like them. "I hope I did not wake you..." she added as an after thought.

Thomas Brinley
He actually jumped slightly at her far too chipper greeting, shooting her a look that plainly argued that mornings were for sleeping, not conversation. Finally, yawning a third time, he murmured a 'Good morning', stretching his arms out over his head in much the same manner as she had upon first awakening. "Y'didn't wake me. I think. You 'aven't slept in that chair all night, 'ave you?"

Natsumi Tanaka
She wasn't suprised too much, not many shared her joy of the sunshining, bird singing mornings. She stood up off the chair, fussing over her hair to try and rid some of the bedhead.
"That is good.." she smiled momentarily, before his next comment broke it. "Eh?" the way he worded it comfused her for a moment, before it seemed to click. "Aa, no, no." she shook her head, smiling again slowly edging her way towards the door. He was still tired, she wanted a shower. Leaving seemed reasonable. "I did not want the door to wake you... but I had already been up, so I sat in the chair." she nodded as she finished her explination. Which all made sense... Because.. well, it was all true. She learned long ago not to bother with lying anyways.

Thomas Brinley
"Ahh, right." That made sense. Very considerate of her, at that, not waking him...much earlier. Nodding, he climbed off the bed, lazily stretching out his arms once more. "Thanks f' that, then. Slept well?" He waited only a moment for her response, eyes wandering around the sparsely decorated room towards the small bathroom. "...I don't mean t' chase you out, but I doubt I'll be completely awake until I shower. Force of 'abit, y'know?"

Natsumi Tanaka
"Yes." She nodded, once again full of her morning person shine and chipperness. "Did you as well?"

She watched him glance around, shaking her head when he finished his next sentance. "Yes.. I mean.. Not chasing out, as you said but habit. Yes." She nodded, "I would like a shower as well..." She frowned absent mindedly, fussing with her hair again almost nerviously. She had come straight home after the incident with Zach.. which meant she didn't even get a shower after all that time outside.. and then it had been straight to Thom's. She was still relitivly clean, but that hardly made a difference in the way she felt.

With that, she started towards the door, feeling confident that she was free to let herself out without being rude. "Aa.. See you, then?" the American phrase seemed a bit awkward, but atleast she had gotten it right.
She opened the door, ready to head on out when something brown caught her eye. Peering down at it, she found a brown package.. Not too much unlike the one she had received not too long ago. Pausing in her retreat to her duplex, she bent to pick it up, and turn around to hold it out to Thom. She looked a bit nervious at the simple sight of the packaging, but was trying her best to hide that.

Thomas Brinley
"Lovely. Then I don't feel so bad for bootin' you." He cracked a grin, following her towards the door to see her out, only to pause when she did and peek over her shoulder at the package. When she passed it to him, he quirked a brow, peering down at the note. Almost immediately he brightened up, holding up the small package with a grin. "The World Cup! S'about time it arrived. I'll 'unt y' down later an' we can watch some of it, eh?"

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi watched quietly as he read the note, almost jumping when he enthusiasticly shouted 'The World Cup.' She almost looked releived when it clicked what that was. Not hentai, just the football thing Thom had told her about when they first met. "Aa, yes, I would like that." She gave a smile and a tiny bow of her head before she was moving back out the door again, no packages to stop her this time from her trip all the way out Thom's duplex and up the stairs to her own.

Thomas Brinley
He bid her goodbye, closing the door only once she had reached the steps, and returned his attention to the package. He opened it, tossing the paper into a trash can in one corner, and absently flipped through the unimpressively marked DVDs. The entire Cup... To be watched over the course of a good while. Each match was at least an hour and a half long, they needn't all be seen on the same day. He would hunt down Natsumi to catch a couple later. Setting the DVDs on the dresser, he turned and headed for the bathroom, shutting the door behind himself and turning on the shower. Time to wake up.

The trip to her own shower was a quick one, just straight outside and up the stairs... The fact the walk was so short was even more reassuring. Sure, there were cameras and saftey measures but she didn't know that. So the thought that Thom and the others would be there for her made the young girl feel safe even on the fairly disturbing Island. Like the jungle hadn't scared her enough before, now instead of the simple image of a giant snake in her mind she had Zach.

She shivered as she cracked open her door, peering around the area to see if anyone had snuck in. Her heartrate started rising as she entertained the thought someone would be hiding just around the corner. With a gulp, she stepped inside, shutting and locking the door behind her. Get a hold of yoursefl... She mentally scolded, breaking the horror-movie illusion she was creating in her mind, suddenlly realizing just how paranoid she was being. She tried to think of somethign else... Like, all the good people on the island. Yes...

Smiling some, she prepared for her shower. Digging out various soaps and things as she let her mind wander. First, there was Nita... The nice friend who always seemed there for everyone. Or atleast Natsumi... She had come just in the nik of time, and probably did that for everyone else too. Then... Alec, she hardly knew him but he seemed like the type that cared. Much like Taro had been... A punk look with a secretly caring person in there. Or something like that...

Natsumi frowned as she turned on the water, carefully adjusting it with little taps to get just the right temperature. Her mind wandered from Alec straight to her old Ex boyfriend. She was here cause of him wasn't she? He left her... But why? She hadn't been able to answere or ignor that question since april... What if everyone was right? What if he had only liked her for her looks...? So then now what? Her eyes trailed over her scaled skin as she stepped into the warm water. Ever since her first change her skin was more sensitive to the harsher water pressures from the showerhead. Mostly, the scaled parts. She'd have to change to baths probably.
She sighed a bit, taking up the first bit of scrubbing... She hadn't realized just how much sand she'd gotten into her hair until now.

As she started the routine act of shampooing her hair her mind wandered back to her previous train of thought. What would Taro think now? What if she managed to magically get back to Japan... If he'd only liked her for her looks, now she'd just be horrible. She wasn't supposed to get scaley skin until she was what...? a hundred years old?

She ducked her head back under the water, rinsing the shampoo out. Japan was long gone now... Nothing of it was ever coming back, no matter how much she wished. She felt her throat tighten at that thought... letting out a tiny whimper. She missed her family... So much... It was an overwhelming feeling of homesickness and loss... She wanted so badly to just write them and let them know she still loved them. That she had wanted them to come live with her in America, but that was impossible now. It didn't take a genious to figure out that a place that had kidnapped you, started morphing you into a strange creature, then sent you porn wouldn't allow a message back to one's family.

Hair done... Body wash next. Just don't think about it... That seemed to work well. Let's see... Kikue was here, she was a nice young Japanese girl... Newt... He had been the utter sweetness... So, they had been eating bugs together... That didn't change the fact he'd been nice and polite. Who else...
Her mind abrubtly landed on Thomas. Suprisingly last... He and Nita were the two most important people to her right now. Her two best friends... Thom even let her in when she had been so absurd to ask to spend the night. It still felt wierd and out of character... But in a sense she was glad she'd done it. Feeling safe was key to surviving here, though she hadn't quite put that knowlage into a clear thought, her instincts seemed to know it.
He vaugly reminded her of her eldest brother... They both liked sports, both had no problems laughing at her embaressment... And both promised to protect her... It was wierd. Thinking of Thom like her brother... They were alike, and yet not really. For one, Thom was more attractive than her brother would ever be, even if she was the only girl that thought that. Haruko-Onii-san was 28 now... she vaugly wondered how he was doing, or if he'd found himself a wife yet. Those thoughts were interupted by a sudden realization... Just how old was Thom? He was probably as old as her brother.... She shook her head, suddenlly losing all intrest in the man upon realizing just how much older he had to be than her.

Stop thinking like that... she once again, mentally scolded. She wasn't here to find a new love and go on her old highschool whimsical fantasies of getting the hottest guy in school.. or in this case on the island. Which meant she didn't need to be thinking about Alec or Thom or anyone else for that matter, in that sort of way. She was supposed to be an adult now... Doing.. Adult things, not being a teenager and trying to hottie-rate every guy secretly in her mind.

She shrugged off the thoughts, deciding to stay under the warm refreshing feel of the shower a moment more before wrapping up and getting out to go forrage up some breakfast...

.:A totally sick meeting:.
Natsumi & Tommy

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi let out a breath, pushing through the familiar doors. A hand settled on her sweater-hiding stomach, which promptly let out another growl of hunger as the smell of food rushed across her face. Followed by the fluttery "kick" of her unborn child shifting.

Though the craving for bugs wasn't near subsiding, they were far too hard for her to catch without the aid of her froggy friend and his sticky tongue... She shuddered slightly, peanuts, peanuts...

Either way, her body seemed to agree with her no food was worse than non bug food. So she made her way over towards the set up, picking out some fairly good sized portions for her fairly short, thin self. They were also noticably odd mixes.. Things people wouldn't normally eat in one meal, but then again she was a Japanese girl turning into some scaled creature. What would anyone suspect? With that acomplished, and grabbing a glass of water, she left the food to find a seat.

Tommy Christian
Tommy walks down the path and up to the not-so-familiar doors. He pauses a moment to prepare himself for what may be inside. He unconsciously straightens his BDU's (camouflage) before pushing open the doors. A brief glimpse shows him...well...nothing too too strange. It looks like a smaller version of his chow hall back at the academy. Shrugging mentally to himself, he walks inside confidently.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi seated herself at an empty table.. Seemed there weren't too many others here. That thoguht was stopped as someone walked in, catching her attention, she paused from her first bite to inspect who it was. She looked a bit nervious.. but who could blame her after the problem with the last new person she had met?
Still, this guy didn't look dangerous at all. Not even a tail... Was he new? She offered him a warm smile, having dubbed him harmless until he proved her otherwise, then returned to that first bite of her meal. Dispite being hungry and wanting to dig into the meal, she ate slowly and carefully.

Tommy Christian
It only takes Tommy a couple of moments before he notices Natsumi. .oO(Hey! She looks...well...kinda normal! A little...yaknow...green, but still more human looking than the rest of the people I've seen)

Tommy gives her a friendly grin and a nod.

"Hey. How'reya doin' tonight?" he says as he makes his way to where the food is displayed. He begins rummaging through the selection and pics out a microwave dinner. He also stuffs a bottled water in his pants pocket.

Tommy glances around the general area a moment.
.oO(Huh...well, no price tags...)

The cadet glances at Natsumi, "Uh...this stuff is free, right?"

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi waited til she had finished her first bite, swallowing quickly so she could respond as fast as possible. "I am well... And yourself?" Her voice wasn't terribly loud, but the empty cafeteria seemed to echo her enough to make it audiable.

She raised a brow at his next question, stopping mid-bite to peer over her shoulder. "Free..." she echoed, blinking once or twice. "Yes... I think." she added, the thought of free or not had never hit her. No one had ever asked for money though, and she hadn't seen anyone else pay. Her only guess was that it had to be free.

Tommy Christian
"Ah, sick!" He exclaims before taking his dinner out from the microwave.

"Yeah...I'm doing pretty good..." Tommy stammers out.

After grabbing a plastic fork he attempts to take the cheap microwaved platter to a table near Natsumi.

It's pretty obvious that the platic bowl is rather hot as his eyes go wide and hurries toward the table.

After waving his hands about to try and cool them off, he looks once more at Natsumi...up close, she doesn't look nearly as human .oO(Huh...what's with the sweater...and...scales...and...tail...oh God, Tommy...don't freak out. Don't let it show, keep your mind busy. But don't freak out.) His eyebrows shoot up for a split second as he really sees her, but he soon puts them in their place.

"...nah...nah, that's an outright lie I just told you. In all honesty I'm pretty far from 'good.'"

Natsumi Tanaka
Sick? She took another bite, relishing in the feeling of food on her empty stomach. Somehow when you were pregnant and hungry, everything about eating just felt better... Except he morning sickness, but that had subsided a few weeks ago... A fact she was most thankful for.

So wait... He was sick, but good? This threw her for a loop as she watched him sit down. He suddenlly looked scared, to which she shifted nerviously, slouching the tiniest bit and looking ot her food. That look could have been anything really, her first thought had been her. She was well aware of the wierd colorings on her face... Breifly, she wondered if that was how she had looked at the dragon-man... But for now, she chose the idea that he had been suprised from teh obviously hot bowl, and to ignor most other thoughts. Yes.. that was it.

Of course.. then he told her he wasn't good. Confusing man. "That is.. because you are sick?" she tried to fill in the gaps for him, her head tilted to the side some, idly twirling her fork in her food.

Tommy Christian
Tommy was slowly slipping into another one of his depressed states when he brought up the fact that he wasn't 'so good.'
Upon Natsumi's comment however, Tommy can't help but smile. After a quiet chuckle, the new guy just grins and says, "Sick? Heheh, no no...I'm not sick. That's just an expression...um...kinda like, 'cool,' I guess. I'm uh...I guess I'm new here. That's all."

Tommy's about to take a bite of his meal when an overwhelming thrist comes over him. He blinks a few times, unnerved, before cracking open the bottle of water. He chugs it until it's about half empty.

Natsumi Tanaka
It took her a moment, even after hearing cool... Cool meant cold, right? Or something else? That's when it clicked. Another American term for something. "Aa! like.. Good? Yes?" she smiled, nodding as she got it. It always felt good to get things right.

So he was new. After nabbing another bite of food while he spoke, she nodded in understanding. "Mm... But there are good.. aa.. Sick? people here." She nodded, smiling and disregarding the bad she'd run into. "Nita, and Alec, and Thomas, and Ian, and Kikue, and Newton..." She trailed off, getting a sudden pang of thirst for her own water. She reached over, carefully taking a few gulps of it.

Tommy Christian
"Oh, I'm sure the people are fine," says Tommy inbetween bites of his small meal (it looks to be some sort of beef sirloin with lots of gravy), "It's the whole...you know...animal thing that I don't get." He tries to sound amiable enough, even though inside he's fighting down the urge to yell at everyone and anyone wondering how anyone can even tolerate being here.

"er...no offense..." Tommy blinks a couple more times and downs the rest of the water...still thirsty though.

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi fell silent at the mention of turning into animals.. Her thoughts wandering brefily as she took another bite to allow herself a moment of silence and thought. She was hardly changed, or so she guessed... And what would the next change be like? The first one had practically knocked her out for a day... And what about that person Alec had been speaking of? The one that was 'done.'

She swallowed hard, giving a tiny shake of her head and a weak smile. "Just do not think of it." Which was what she now chose to do, focusing her mind on repetative words and random things. Like his clothing... And his na.. Wait. "Aa!" She squeaked in suprise "Forgive me.." she bowed her head some, mindful of keeping her hair out of her own food. "I am Natsumi Tanaka."

Tommy Christian
Thanks be to that squeak, because Tommy was on the verge of not being able to control his anger. Anger to this place, the inhabitant's apparant apathy toward their predicament, and their unseen 'benifactors.'

He looks startled for a moment more from the squeak than anything. Though the bow did kind of throw him off. He gives a nervous grin and tried to mimic the bow (though a bit clumsily).

"Oh...um...name's Tommy. Tommy Christian." The young man can't help but smile. This Natsumi kind of reminded him of his sister...an oriental...reptile version of his sister. All of a sudden he pictures other members of his family here and can't help but shudder.

Natsumi Tanaka
She seemed pleased that he had returned the bow, not many did. Which was fine too... She knew they didn't know that it was curtious to do so in return. "Tommy." She nodded to herself, noticing the simmilarity to Thomas her good downstairs companion. What a coincidence. Still feel a bit awkward from the previous reminder of being turned into an animal, she took another bite, tryign to think of happier things. Things like her baby... Things like the fact he hadn't noticed yet.

As she finished that bite, she downed some more water. Blinking and frowning as she hit the bottum of her cup. She seemed to be doing that alot lately, running out of water before getting enough of it. Though a sweater on an island wasn't heloing her hydration levels any. With glass in hand she stood, "I am getting some more to drink..." She gave a wiggle of her empty glass to demonstrate. "Would you like anything?"

Tommy Christian
Tommy glances at Natsumi as she stands. He blinks a bit at her question, seemingly spaced out for a moment. "Hmm? Oh! yeah...uh...would you mind getting me another one of these?" He holds up his now empty bottle of water.
.oO(But damn I'm thirsty...this water just isn't doing the trick)

Acting like the most normal thing in the world, the cadet lifts his now empty bowl and drains the rest of the greasy juiciness into his mouth like one would do after eating a bowl of cereal with some milk left.

Tommy just stares down at the bowl he just drained in befuddlement for a moment.

"...huh...," he seems to snap out of it, "So uh...if you don't mind me asking...what...um...what are you tur...I mean, what's your animal?"

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi nodded, walking over to fetch her own glass of water with ice along with a bottled water. Easy enough. She turned back, missing his greese-guzzle while busy with her task.

She passed his water to him, then sat back in her seat drinking some of her water before setting it down. "Aa..." She paused, picking her fork back up "I do not know." she admitted, scraping one of her last bites from the plate and eating it.

Tommy Christian
.oO(Is that...no...it can't be.) Tommy thinks as he watches Natsumi walk back. Tommy thinks back to the days when he used to hang around his dad's workplace as a child. It being an OBGYN office, he had seen many pregnant women in his time. The sweater made it difficult to tell definatively though. He pries his eyes away from her midsection and transfers them to meet her own peepers.

"Thanks," he says once he revieved the water.

"So, how's a person's...um...animal...yeah, how's it chosen?"

Natsumi Tanaka
Natsumi gave a nod to his thanks, "It was not a problem." She took the last bite, letting out a soft noise of content due to her now full stomach. She shrugged at his next question, "I am not sure.." she offered a tiny smile, drinking some more of her water and looking a bit awkward from his topic of choice. Still.. she wanted to be helpful. "Nita may know.." That was the best she had.

Tommy Christian
"Nita? Oh right! Yeah, I met her last night...she's the one who ah...who broke the news to me...so to speak."

It doesn't take long for Tommy to notice the look on her face, "Ah...damn...listen, I'm sorry. It seems to be a taboo subject around here...and hell, I'd be lying if I said I understood how you felt....it's just...I dunno...I'm just so...so confused. I only got here a day ago and...and now I'm confronted with all of...all of this," Tommy says while gesturing in front of him to encompass all that is before him.

Natsumi Tanaka
She laughed a bit...covering her mouth as she did so. Seemed Nita was good at that. "Yes, me too..." She explained her little outburst, shaking her head when he continued. "No... I just wish I could tell you more." I wish i could tell me more She paused to think, downing the last bit of her water and gathering her dishes. "It hurt some... Not to scare you though... Perhaps some advil?" she shrugged, looking even more awkward as she tried to be somewhat helpful. She sighed some, standing and abruptly moving her dishes to the little drop-off spot. "I should be going." she offered another smile, though looking rather fake. She never was a good liar.

Tommy Christian
Tommy watches her gather up her dishes and sighs inwardly. .oO(Why am I driving off everyone I meet here? Damnit...well I'm sure as hell not going to stick my head in the sand while this s**t goes around me. What's it take to get a straight answer around here anyway?)

"Hey, I'm sorry, but before you go. Nita mentioned that some doctor ran the operation here, but I forgot his name...do you by chance know it?" Tommy asks while cracking open his second water bottle.

Natsumi Tanaka
"No, no.." she shook her head again, trying to keep him from apologizing anymore. She knew what it was like to be curious... But at the same time, she had chosen just to not think about it. It worked better that way... You could be happy that way.

"Name..." She paused to think, if there was one thing she was good at it was remembering names. "Sabin Duvert..." she practically hissed, though it sounded rather withheld. "Aubery Lockheart... Those are all I know of." She thought there was one more, but she only remembered metting the two, so she let that feeling go for the time being. She waited to see if that was all he needed.

Tommy Christian
"Sabin...yeah, Sabin was one...I haven't heard of the other one. Lockheart you said? Huh...there was another one...started with I think an M...*sigh* ah well. I won't keep you any longer," Tommy says with a nervous grin, "Have a good night, Natsumi."

Natsumi Tanaka
She smiled when she had atleast helped him with one, and nodded when he asked if she had said Lockheart. She gave a moment of thought.. M.. M... He broke her thought, smiling some and shaking her head no again. "Yes... You as well." She turned to head towards the door, pausing whenshe had opened it midway. "Aa.. My duplex. It is 46, if you need anything..." She offered with a small smile, trying to show that there were no hard feelings, she didn't like the feeling of not being friendly towards someone... So with that, she continued on her way, going straight to her duplex in a bit of a fast walk... It was getting late, and the dark was still creeping her out. She wanted to get to bed before her mind started playing tricks on her.

Tommy Christian
"Alright, I'm fifty...*he sighs*," Tommy looks down at his water. It seemed to him like she wanted nothing more than to get away from him. He looks back to the door, "...four."

With one last sigh, Tommy drains his water bottle...still thirsty though...and throws away his trash. He heads back to his new home soon afterward.

The shower definatly had him feeling better... well sort of. While it had taken away that layer of grit he felt he'd developed from so many plane changes and brushing up against strangers, he seemed to have developed something of a queasy stomach. He put it to the gross lasagna he'd eaten on the second to last airplane and set off trecking through the darkening forest-jungle.

All traces of weariness evapourated in company with the dark trees and whatever lay beyond. Strange sounds, ones he'd only ever really expect to hear in a zoo or a movie. With a shiver he picked up his pace. Before he'd left he'd pulled out his little traveller's book translator and located number 46.

He soon found it and trecked up the staircase. Reaching the top he check the numbers once more before shrugging and giving the door a sturdy knock.

Natsumi had been getting ready for bed, in the process of brushing her hair she paused when a knock echoed from her door. As she set the brush down and started for her door her first thought was Thomas, coming to get her to watch thsoe football video's of his. However, it seemed a bit late for that... Perhaps Newton asking for another bug hunt...? That seemed reasonable.
Either way, Thom or Newt, they had both seen her in her pajamas... Thom knew of the pregnancy, and Newt just plain seemed to not notice. So the thought of pausing to grab her handy sweater slipped her mind as she cracked open the door, eager to greet either Thom or newt.

What she found wasn't even close. Her smile seemed to fall off her face and shatter on the ground below, her eyes went wide, her heart pounded. She knew exactly who it was. But.. why would he be here? Oh God.. Her tail, her scales, he'd see. Sure everyone else here had seen them but this was drastically different. This was.. Taro.
He can't see. He just couldn't see the scales or her stomach... and before she could get a clear thought in her head, she was slamming the door as hard as she could shut, shakily trying to lock it as soon as she had got it shut.

Taro's heart felt like it had stopped just as Natsumi's was speeding up. Natsumi! It was Natsumi but why was she doing Peace Corps? She was so much better than that, she was supposed to be going to college! "N-Natsumi?!"

And then the dark colouration on her forehead registered. His voice took on a whole new tone and he immediatly reached out as she slammed the door shut, pushing futily against the wood. What had that been? That looked suspiciously like a dark bruise. What was going on?

"Natsumi! Why are you here? What's on your forehead?" He leaned his shoulder against the door and turned the knob, pushing it open. He could feel her pushing her weight against it as well and did his best to be gentle. He got his arm and shoulder in through the door and leaned his head in. "Natsumi, it's me, Taro. What happened? Why are you here?"

He gave it another gentle push and managed to wedge himself further in. His eye caught something as he glanced around the room in an attempt to get an idea of the surroundings and he paused, coming back to it. Her feet looked... looked...

"Natsumi?"

Natsumi gritted her teeth as the door was opening back up. She had to stop it... Stop. Her mind screaemed as she tried to force her weight against the door, sure she was heavier by a good bit due to her pregnancy.. but it wasn't enough. She felt her feet slide against the floor as he worked his way in. "Iie!" she shouted, rather desperatly.

She slid a bit more, deciding fighting that was pointless she turned tail, litterally, and ran towards the safety of her bathroom. She could hide there. Normally she was more careful about her movements being above Thom, but right now it was fight of flight mode taking over her slightly repteillian body. And it had chosen the flight option. "Stay out!" she managed to shout back before dissapereing into her bathroom. "Why are you here?" her voice was unreasonably loud, a mixture of panic, confusion, sadness, and anger. Quite a combo for the usually withdrawn girl.

Was she that upset with him? She finally backed away from the door, allowing him to enter fully now. As he steadied himself he watched her retreat to another room something... what...

His eyebrows furrowed. What had that been? He followed after her in long strides, clomping over the floor loudly. He lodged his foot in the door and looked it at Natsumi, trying to peer around her at her a**. "Natsumi! I'm sorry if you're upset about me leaving. I had to! Please understand.. I'm sorry. What..... what is that?" His brows furrowed as he reached forward to try and take a hold of her. He caught glimpses of something brownish behind her, the same thing he'd seen earlier.

Through his distraction he kept trying to persue the topic. "Why are you at Peace Corps anyway?"

"Go away!" Crap. She mentally cursed his foot that has kept her from shutting the next door. No where else to go now... She was cornered. Which made her heart rate seem to go crazy. The breif thought to dig occured, which was immediatly dismissed as insane, and impossible on the bathroom floor. She let out a yelp when he saw her tail, reachgin behind her to grab it and hide it, momentarily forgetting about actually holding the door... which only lead to it being flung open into her from the abrupt change in pressures. It wasn't hard, afterall Taro had been holding back so as not to harm her, but it was enough to shock her and send her slipping on her slightly wet (from an earlier shower) and fall on her rear with a loud thud.

"It's.. nothing. Go away...." she repeated, much softer and more pitiful this time. Her eyes filling with tears... He wasn't supposed to be here. She was supposed to be moving on... Now her head was flooding with all the things she had tried to hard not to think about. Why had he left her like that? And why did she have to be changing into a whatever... "You're not supposed to be here, you're not, you're supposed to be in Japan...." She wasn't sure what he meant by her being at peace corps, but her head was spinning too much to think about it.
