As the new boy - the one who had arrived late, Tavon, was it? - moved towards them and asked if they knew which class was next Grave offered a small smile and shook his head. He slung his bag over his shoulder looking around for a student to ask, when Mathiaz' comment reached his ears. He turned like a whip to defend Dameron.
"You'd do well to read more, Mathiaz." Grave shot coldly, and it looked as though he might say more and nastier things when he caught Amelia's eye and heard her comment. He smiled at her and calmed down considerably. "I'm going to ask what class is next." And with that, Grave slide behind Amelia, brushing against her from the lack of space in the cluttered room. He strode forward to the nearest student, a confident-looking Sanguine girl and voiced his query. She looked up as she slid her bag over her shoulder.
"Melonia's class is next. Rhetoric, is what she teaches. It's just down the hall, on your left." And with that the Sanguine girl returned her attention to her friends as they headed out from the room. As Grave returned to his classmates to inform them of this information, he realized that massive Kortus was no where to be seen.
"We've got Rhetoric next." Grave told Amelia, glancing briefly at Tavon, and largely ignoring Mathiaz as best he could. "The Professor is called Melonia. Shall we?" And with a soft inclination of his head, and a subtle smile on his lips, Grave offered Amelia a hand to stand.

Amelia could see Grave's outburst coming from a mile away. She could tell that he loved Dameron's class, and would defend literature of any kind with all he had. Plus, what he was saying was correct--at least in her mind. Mathiaz could, and should, read more books. He'd probably be taken more seriously by some of the more academic professors if he did. It was important to at least try to take an interest in all of their classes, she knew.

She watched as Grave approached the Sanguine girl, and she glanced around at Tavon and Mathiaz while he was away. "I wonder what's next?" she said, not really asking a question, but more like talking to herself.

As Grave returned, Amelia finished packing up her things, and looked up at him and the others. "Rhetoric? That sounds interesting," she replied, taking his hand, and giving him a slight smile. She stood up and right before hesitantly letting go of his hand, she gave it a slight squeeze. "Lead the way!"

Mathiaz just snorted quietly and ignored both their comments. The day that he actually enjoyed reading ... he'd ... well, do something drastic. "Mm ... What the heck is Rhetoric?" he muttered, moving to follow the rest of the group out of the room.

Grave felt the soft squeeze on his hand and his blue eyes darted to Amelia's face. Seeing her smile, Grave returned a gentle squeeze to her hand and a kind smile as she let go. He began to walk towards the doorway, and realized with some suprise that the others were following him, as if he knew where they were going. Grave drew on his confidence as best he could and scoured the hallway. The traffic flow of students gave no hint as to which direction Melonia's class would be in. So, Grave stepped out into the flow of people and reached instinctively for Amelia's arm or hand, to keep her close so that she wouldn't get seperated by the moving throngs.
Grave, with his small frame and short stature was doing his best to peer around the heads and bodies of his fellow students so that he might read the plaques on the wall. It required a lot of stopping, starting, side-stepping and appologies. A few doorways later on the left-hand side he saw a brass plaque. Melonia, Rhetoric. Grave pointed the sign out to his classmates.
"That looks like the room, over there."

Amelia blushed as Grave looked up at her. She wasn't sure whether she should have given his hand the squeeze, but she wanted him to know that he had a friend here, and that they had things in common. She understood him--at least so far--and she wanted him to know that.

As they walked out into the hectic, bustling hallway, Amelia looked around at all of the laughing, chattering students, who seemed to be enjoying themselves. Feeling Grave's hand in hers, she followed him easily down the hallway, glad she had someone to lead her. She was terribly short, and it would have been hard for her to see the signs had she not had someone looking out for them.

"Wow, it's quite a crowd in the halls, isn't it?" she asked aloud, more talking to herself again than anything. She glanced behind her, wondering if the other boys had managed to follow them here. "Are you guys still back there?" she asked, scanning the crowd for her new classmates.

Mathiaz had not only managed to keep up but to look as if he knew where he was going the entire time. He'd simply walked slower than either of them ... so he hadn't had to stop and start nearly as much. "Present and accounted for," he answered Amelia with a quick grin.

Tavon followed behind the others, weaving through the crowd of other students that filled the hallway."Im still here."He sidesteps a small throng of female students chattering away, nearly tripping over his own feet as he did.He set a hand against the wall to regain his balance adn glanced over at Grave then the plaque by the doorway that told him they had reached the room.

Grave glanced over Amelia's shoulder and saw the other two boys had made it without becoming seperated or otherwise lost in the hectic hallways. He opened the heavey door and walked into the classroom.
In this room he saw a great number of pillows and blankets strewn about the floor, and sitting crosslegged and nearly perching in the middle of all these linens was the Professor Melonia.
The low lighting in the room was instantly relaxing, and the way it glinted off her caprian coat made her look like she was glowing with some sort of aura...
It had to be a trick of the light. Grave blinked his eyes, but that hazy outline seemed to remain and waver. The teacher was making positions with her hands and had not seemed to notice the students enter. There were no other students in the room yet, and Grave had first choice of the many pillows on the floor. He selected a large and comfy-looking black one situated right in front of the professora and sat down, pulling up a matching white one to his side for Amelia.

Tavon ducked around the dorway and looked about the room, blinkins his eyes a few times to get used to the sudden change in lighting. He noticed alot of pillows and blankets about the room, and someone he assumed to be the teacher sitting in the middle of them.He moved forward and grabbed up a teal coloured pillow near the front of the professor as well, placing himself crosslegged on it as he looked the room over a bit more.

Amelia gave Mathiaz a smile, and she was glad to see that both he and Tavon had managed to follow them to the room. The hallways seemed to be always crowded, and Amelia couldn't help but wonder how many students were in the school.

Upon entering Melonia's room, Amelia immediately felt calm and serene. It was a rather pleasant feeling, and she looked around the room, pleased with what she saw. Blankets and pillows on the floor were a sure indication of a loose class format, allowing everyone to get comfortable with each other and with the teacher. A broad smile came across her face as her eyes adjusted to the dim light. She noticed that there was a woman sitting in the middle of the room, and she was glowing with a strange golden aura. Amelia could feel power radiating from her, and she was curious what the woman was doing with her hands.

Giving grave a quiet "Thank you", she sat down on the pillow next to him, looking up at Melonia. Turning to take out her notebook and quill, she came close to Grave's ear and whispered into it. "Is she glowing, or is it just me?" Her eyes shifted back to Melonia as she took in the sight of her again--the glow remained.

Grave nodded slowly, only taking his eyes of the professora for a moment to glance at Amelia and smile. Slowly he gathered his senses and began to unpack his notebook and his quill and ink bottle. He felt, for some reason, that he ought to keep quiet in a room like this. He moved as quietly and as efficiently as he could, afraid he might wake the silence or disturb the professora in the middle of her...whatever she was doing.
Grave wrote out at the top of his page, Rhetoric Class with Professora Melonia and then set his Quill in the penrest. As Grave looked around the room he saw more students filtering into the class, taking their seats at the cushions that appealed to them best.
He couldn't wait for it to start, he had so many questions...

Mathiaz blinked as he walked into the room, looking around with a raised brow. If the atmosphere of the room seemed to make the others feel relaxed and quiet well ... either he was ignoring it, or he didn't feel any such thing. Instead of calmly taking a seat, he wandered around looking at everything and poking at a few items on the walls.

Finally, though, he did settle, picking the one pillow that would make noise - as it was sort of like a beanbag. He grinned at the sound of the beans inside shifting around as he wriggled a bit to get comfortable. This class was likely to be really boring, really interesting, or just ... plain weird.

Grave watched as the class slowly filled and saw that during all the shuffling, whispered chatter and settling down, Melonia did not move at all. Her hands were held in a tight formation before her chest and her eyes remained closed. When the last student entered, the door suddenly snapped shut and Grave felt an overwhelming tingling sensation sweep through his body. In that moment when the feeling overcame him be felt an intense burst of pain in his head that subsided instantly and his stomach heaved inside his ribcage. He took a deep breath and braced his hands on the floor at his sides. Looking around the room, Grave could see that the students between him and the door were similarly affected, but before he could think deeply on it, Melonia shifted.
The professora opened her magenta eyes and shook her head and horns, and it seemed a tremor moved through her fur as her muscles coiled in a wave from head to toe. When she had finished her stretch she licked her pink lips and smiled at the class.
"Hello Zeros. Welcome to your first class of Rhetoric."

Amelia filled out the header of her notes, taking down Melonia's name and her subject, Rhetoric. What was rhetoric anyway?, she thought to herself, curious. The professor still hadn't moved from her position, but she seemed calm and composed sitting there in the center of the room.

Amelia took note of her hand position, and was temped to diagram it, but decided to wait and see if her hands really did have to do with the subject she was teaching. It was then that she heard the door slam shut behind them, and suddenly, her head felt like it was splitting in two. Immediately after the headache came on, her stomach retched as well. "Ugh," was all that came out as she clutched her stomach with one arm, and rubbed her temple with the other.

As Melonia began the class, she looked up at the strange woman, wondering how everyone in the class seemed to be ill all at once. Was she the one doing it?

Tavon pulled out his notepad and a quill with a forest green feathe, as well as an inkwell, and scibbled down the teachers name and the subjexct at the top of the paper. When he heard the door close he looked up, noticing some of the students looked a bit funny, as if they were abouut to pike or something.Quirking a brow he looked abck at the teacher as she spoke, wondering what had happened.
