MysticfawN From what I hear about the new Star Wars, the guys LOVE it, and the girls shrug and say "Eh, it was pretty good." We're waiting til the crowds die down. It's still be sold out here every day. I feel bad that I'm totally girly about it. Maybe if i see it again I'll appreciate it more.

We saw Star Wars last night! It was great. There were a few things that could have been done better. But if they release a directors cut, I'm sure that will have what I'm looking for. Because some of the things were rushed. Like the crossover from Jedi to the Darkside went by faster than I would have liked.
Other than that it was good to see the connections. I also enjoyed getting to see the twins be born. And how they were split up. I won't go on, cause I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

I agree with how fast it was done but still it was a 2 1/2 hour movie and I think slowing that process down would have made it much longer.

That's why I'm hoping for a director's cut. Maybe the stuff that was taken out to reduce the length will still be shown somewhere. I would really like to see more. Hey, did anyone else that has seen the new Star Wars see the Millineum Falcon when they were at the wookie planet? I thought a brief shot was there, but am being argued with here. Any support?

Hey, did anyone else that has seen the new Star Wars see the Millineum Falcon when they were at the wookie planet? I thought a brief shot was there, but am being argued with here. Any support? I was so tired when we saw it I don't remember that (we saw the opening night midnight show in New Orleans) but I wouldn't doubt it. The Millenium Falcon was a bucket of bolts in Star Wars episode 4. We rented De-Lovely last night (starring Kevin Kline and Ashley Judd) It's about Cole Porter. He was a songwriter in the 1930s/40s and 50s. He's one of my favorites actually. They did a couple albums to benefit AIDS of contemporary artists doing his songs (I have Red, Hot and Blue...I think another was Red, Hot and Jazz or something) Anyway, the movie was great! I didn't think it affected me so, but at the end I actually cried. I couldn't answer Kevin when he asked me what I thought of it, I was trying to hide the tears. When I answered him (finally) i just bawled! There's a scene in there (not completely historically accurate) that is just about the most romantic thing I have ever heard of in my life!!! (PM me if you wanna know or talk about it...i don't wanna ruin it for anyone) I was reading up on it on IMDB and there's alot of discussion on how it's not commpletely historically accurate...like they have him singing songs he didn't write for years after the event he's singing them in...but the whole premise of the movie isn't a complete biopic...it's him in the last seconds of his life experiencing his "life flash before his eyes" and they are using his songs as a soundtrack to his life. While they do match most of the music to the time it represents, a few discrepencies are allowed imo for poetic license. And glossing over certain things is allowed because we don't always remember things as they EXACTLY happened. We usually remember things much more fondly than when it was happening. (remember this is my opinion...take it or leave it) Anyway, I highly recommend it. I believe it was on par with, if not better than. "RAY" just done differently, and as a result people had a hard time accepting it since it was more from Cole Porter's POV instead of a straight biography. Tonight is The Motorcycle Diaries (about Che Gueverra)

Any support? Just got back from seeing it again (took Kevin's nephew) and yes indeed it is there on the Wookie planet in the bg on the left. You have been vindicated. xd heart

Finally saw Star Wars this weekend. Three thumbs up! It made me cry too, in at least 3 places.
And Jason bought Unfaithful which was really good. Also made me cry (esp. the alternate ending.) And it made me value my marriage.
Then we watched Frailty today which Jason swears we've watched already, and like many other movies he swears I've watched which I don't remember, it seems like a completely new movie with nothing familiar until quite far into it, things will start to seem sort of familiar... I blame my head injury 10 years ago. I must have trouble forming/keeping memories.

MysticfawN Finally saw Star Wars this weekend. Three thumbs up! It made me cry too, in at least 3 places. I almost cried the 2nd time i saw it... like when Padme was dying...or the cheesy "NOOOOOOO" scene. MysticfawN And Jason bought Unfaithful which was really good. Also made me cry (esp. the alternate ending.) And it made me value my marriage. I must see that! I watched Lover's Knot last night (Tim Curry) and there's a part in it where they talk about being more like roommates than a couple and it totally made me look at my relationship with Kevin closer. Sometimes u fall into that familiarity and kinda take people for granted. So today I'm being uber housewife lol MysticfawN Then we watched Frailty today which Jason swears we've watched already, and like many other movies he swears I've watched which I don't remember, it seems like a completely new movie with nothing familiar until quite far into it, things will start to seem sort of familiar... I blame my head injury 10 years ago. I must have trouble forming/keeping memories. I'm the same way. I wonder if my car accident did that to me? I don't know if i lost consciousness...I think I did cuz I remember the car coming at me and then the next thing i remember is some guy at my door and seeing smoke in the car (from the airbag I think). I often have to ask Kevin if we've seen something already when we go to rent. I'll even pick up movies that I specifically got just for me to watch and want to watch them again...not cuz I liked them...cuz I didn't remember i saw them. We rented a movie last night called "Ring of Darkness" which had Ryan Starr in it (from American Idol and the Surreal Life) ... it was kinda cheesy...okay VERY cheesy...and practically an honage to the sexy bodies of boy bands...but it was actually a good story. Horror. About a boy band whose leader mysteriously disappears and they have a contest to find a new lead singer...and a secret about the band comes out. Was slightly disappointed in the ending, but that's okay...other than that and all the shots of hot guys' abs it was worth it. xd

Wow! Ryan Starr! It's good that old American Idol contestants are actually having something happen with their lives.. I was afraid for a while that they'd return to anonymity and it would be as if they weren't even top contestants at all!
About forgetting movies, I wonder if it's that while watching movies, we enter a sort of twilight zone state of consciousness that we won't remember unless we consciously go over the movie in our heads again afterwards? I know there are lots of other things that happen that I can't remember too, and for a while I thought it was Jason's memory that was faulty, but now there are groups of people who remember things that I don't, and they remember me being there, so maybe it's me!
I had such an excellent memory before that car accident too! I prided myself on my good memory, and ALWAYS being able to remember when someone would say "remind me later..." and I took it for granted!
Do you know if you hit your head in that car accident Jaz? Or even if you didn't, I think the sloshing of the brain in whiplash might have an affect too. neutral

fawN i wish i could blame my memory on hitting my head! mine isn't nearly as good as it used to be. people with bad memories are always astounded at what i can recall, but i know it isn't up to scratch anymore. i think it has a lot to do eith the fact that i have no mental stimulation anymore, i work with idiots and i'm not actively learning anything anymore, so my brain is lazy now sad

Really good! Clair Danes and Billy Crudup. It's about the time when men played women on the stage cuz it was illegal for women to, then the law gets lifted and women can act and how that affected a certain man and woman in particular. I thoroughly enjoyed it, as did Kevin. OH! And "Eulogy" was really good too. With Ray Romano. A dark comedy about a family whose father passes away.
