OOC|| I'm a Fire Bender!!

IC||Linh sighed as she continually failed to move the rock or even feel her bending skills getting any bit better. It was almost like she wasn't training at all. But at the same time she never stoped and never showed any sign of pain as she hit the large block of earth, like her teacher did.

Linh looked over at her teacher every now and then to see if she was doing it corectly but never let him notic, which was easy for her because she didn't need to evenb look around the rock. She just looked through it at his diffrents levels of heat his body gave off.

Finaly after a long time of what seemed like pointless punching, small bits of ember soon began to come off her her as her fist came in contact with the rock. Much like when you his two stones together.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 26, 2006 7:57 pm

A small drop of sweat then ran down Linh's cheeck as she sent continual puinches to the large rock. The sparks still coming off of it on impact. She then looked over at the other non-earth bender and felt a little better knowing that she wasn't the only bender here that can't bend earth. She then began to focus on her punches once again, making sure they were all equaly strong. Unlike fire bending she knew that earth wasn't all about power so she did her best to make all her punches equal.

Hundreds of ideas flowed through her mind. Can she come up with any new fire bending tricks yet? Or does she have enough will power to train with these strong men? She was a fairly small girl and somwhat fragil, but she never let anyone know that she thought that also. She grinded her teeth together as her knuckles began to bleed more and more. The small bits of fire that she created just before a hit gave it some cusion but she was still breaking. She tried to take her mind off of the cuts and bruses on her fists and just focused on her task and continued to send punches at the rock trying to move it.

OOC||Would this count as a training post?

(yes it would youre "pushing a limit")

Fulgar stared down at his bleeding fists. He glanced up to see the girl beside him looking at him. He quickly began again he threw his fists at the rock concentrating on it. The blood ran down the side of the rock. He now concentrated on any kind of fire he could create he knew some firebending and had learned from the waterbender Toku. He stepped back from the rock in the wide horse stance that jonah had just taught them he swayed his torso back like Toku had demonstrated and thrust his fist toward the rock Fire burned from his fists in balls and hit the stone. He breathed deeply and concentrated on what Jonah had just taught them he moved forward and thrust his fists into the rock the rock flaked away where he was hitting. He punched until he could take no more, his arms ached beads of sweat rolled down his face he tried to concentrate on what he was doing. He continued to punch each time taking a deep breath of cool burning air. His large fists pounded the stone he could do very little damage to it compared to an earthbender but his fire seemed to be enough to slowly flake away the rock. Fulgar couldnt move the block of stone at all. No matter how many punches or fireballs he threw at it, it wouldnt budge.

OOC||Okay thank you [Hollow point]. Now I only need eight more post and I'm up a level.

Linh watched in amazment as the other fire bender slowly ate away at the rock with everyone of his firey punches. She then forced her self to stop watching and continued to try and move the boulder. She knew that she couldn't do it, espetialy with just punches. She wasn't an earth bender but she woul;d need this training is she wanted to become truely strong so she turned back to her rock and continude to punch it.

She soon noticed that the rock had a few chips in the side of it and assumed they were from her many, many punches. Her face lit up for a second, she was vary excited and now she knew that she could at least break the rock, like her fellow student. Her hands, now were covered in blood, as well as the rock she was using. She looked down at her hands as they had continual pain coming from them and then she looked over at the other fire bender once again and sighed. She didn't like being behind, it made her feel useless. She then fised her hourse stance and began to punch the rock once again.

Jonah witnessed as his trainees began to attack the block of stone, rather than try to move it. It was a disturbing sight to watch their knuckles bleed, and the damaged stone would only cause them trouble. He decided to try and educate them in the ways of earth bending, maybe try to tell them how to earth bend. What surprized Jonah was the fire that erupted from their attacks, showing that they were fire benders. If he understood right, a bender could only bend their own element, not another or trying to become a mixbreed.

"Stop!" Jonah couldn't stand the thought of his teaching gone awry, nor could he bear the sight of the bloody stone any longer. To correct this sight, Jonah raised the block of stone above them with his lower hand a lifting motion from his main stance, beyond anyone's reach.

"Observe. Earthbending isn't about attacking, nor is it about retreating. The main principle of earthbending is to defend. When you attack, supposedly firebending, you enact Positive jin. When you dodge or retreat, airbending is a good example, you enact Negative jin. Earthbending is firm defense, therefore Neutral jin. A master of earthbending is a user of Neutral jin, bending the earth to defend himself with solid earth and stone to hold his ground and hold off attackers."

From his semi-motivational speech, Jonah had supposedly taught himself something, as which he mainly learned through his own actions. Luckily it seemed to make sense to him; hopefully it would make sense to his trainees. A proper teacher would give a demonstration, and that was what Jonah would do.

As he ceased concentration on the stone, he let it fall to the floor, not letting it crush anyone, making an unusually loud 'bang' as it reached the ground. With a bit of concentration from Jonah, the dust gathered to the stone to form its original shape, unscratched by the fire.

"Move the block of stone with the purpose to defend yourself. It is stronger than when you attack or retreat. Only then could you start to earthbend."

Jonah waited to see if his speech made sense, watching the two to see what they did.

Fulgar stopped his aggravated assault on the stone. Jonah lifted the stone before his eyes Jonah began to speak about the use of neutral Jin how it is not used to attack or to retreat but is used to defend. "So Neutral jin is attacking, with the purpose of defending?"

After Fulgar asked his question Jonah dropped the blocks to their original positions Fulgar jumped with surprise. He looked doubting at Jonah then stood in his postion he began to concentrate on the stone. His hands caught fire at the sides of his body and he stood concentrating on the stone he began by moving his fist forward to meet the stone with the kiss of the rock the flame danced around his hands. He wasnt unleashing a torrent of flame as he did before but instead he steadily and carefully released ammounts of energy to carress the stone. The fire that danced with his hands grew hotter as he pushed at the stone. Still keeping the steady stream of energy from his arm he began to move the stone. Flames erupted at the base of the stone like tiny jets lined the left and right sides the rock began to move forward with the heat's friction. Fulgar was happy at what he was doing but couldnt break concentration. He couldnt let out too much energy or too little either one would be hard on the stone. He could move to stone, merely imitate what Jonah could do but he had began to learn about what earthbending was all about.

Linh fell forward as the block of stoone came out of her reach. Caught herself, somewhat and ended up falling on her butt. She then rested her arms on her knees, to make it look like she ment to fall. She then began to listen to Jonah taking everythiong he said into consideration.

How am I supposed to move something that big by deffending myself? She thought after hearing Jonah's speach. She knew that with enough fire power she might be able to maby move the rock a little bit under an inch but now she couldn't even attack it!?!? The task set for her confused her and it also seemed to confuse her other fellow students. She then looked over at the other fire bender and watched as the bright red collor danced anround the fire benders darker purple-ish color. She then looked over at the small straems of fire come up from beneath the rock. Linh stood up straight and dusted off her clothes. She then got into her hourse stance and waited. She soon looked over at Jonah's reaction to both of their's.

Jonah's hand came up and smacked his forehead. He had forgotten something; earthbending could attack, but in the way it was used was not neutral jin. Earthbending was meant to intercept attacks using the principle of neutral jin, a fighting style all on its own.

"How do you expect to earthbend if you keep firebending the stone? What I meant to say was that earthbending intercepts the attacks of others, the main purpose of neutral jin, stopping their attacks and displacing the earthbender's opponents. Example being if I brought up a wall of stone in close proximity while you were using one of your fire jets, your flame would surely stop or even backfire."

Jonah earthbended the stone in a circle around Fulgar, and then around the female trainee in a figure-8 pattern between the two. He then brought the stone back in its original position.

"Ordinarily I would have run the stone right into you two with the purpose of intercepting your attacks and displacing you. Once someone advances in earthbending, they can do more intricate and more powerful techniques. But before someone does that, they must first learn to move a rock. Cease firebending for now if you plan on earthbending, and resume your stance. Instead of attacking the stone with emotion, try and keep a level head and have an iron-like focus. This should help you move the rock."

Jonah then waited for either one of them to try his method. If they didn't succeed, Jonah would have to delve deeper into earthbending and in his own knowledge to try and help them.

"I dont expect to earthbend" Fulgar said, "I'm not an earthbender, that is why i tried to move it with firebending. Thought I could some how icorporate the two with each other." Fulgar said this and got a stupid and rather sheepish look on his face. He was embarrassed that he couldnt get it the way Jonah wanted. Fulgar tried to keep his head level

(ill have to finish this in a bit... i need to go to a meeting with the civil air patrol)

"He doesn't plan on earthbending... So he's not the one...."

Jonah took this into consideration, thinking about what to do. He wasn't trained to teach firebending, or earthbending to firebenders. Normally Jonah would just refuse to teach anyone who wasn't an earthbender, but he could try to help the firebenders try to use an unusual firebending style.

"If you don't plan on earthbending.... why did you say you wanted to learn it? With a response like that, I would have expected you to move the block of stone all the way across the room. I could have just told you about it and not put you through humiliating tests... I'll still teach you about earthbending, but I won't expect you to move anything...."

Jonah thought about the concept of earthbending with fire, but it wasn't the same as earthbending alone. He did witness something like that during the tournament in which Jonah faced off against another firebender, her shooting a torrent of fire directly into the earth and making it come out underneath his feet.

"It isn't unheard of to try and incorporate bending fighting styles. I suppose I could teach him how to make fire firm like earth, perhaps an effective method to immitate earth..."

Jonah resumed his stance, facing Fulgar.

"Try this. Focus your emotion to make it hard like stone, this should make your fires firm and tough. Since firebending takes from emotion, it should come out as condensed fire. If my theory is right, you should have a slab of condensed fire that you can bend like earth. But you must remain firm, or it will fall apart."

Jonah was curious as to how this technique would come to be, then he could actually teach Fulgar some firm techniques that he could immitate earthbending with condensed fire.

"I dont expect to earthbend because it would be physically impossible for me to do so. I want to learn it so that I can be the best I can without getting versed in the other bending styles I cannot perform to the best of my ability."

Fulgar got into his stance standing directly across from his teacher. He focused his ability into condensing the fire to make it more earth like. He could feel the heat but he wasnt even close to there. He brought his arms up into a earthbending fashion and moved them up and down trying to focus his energy and remain firm as Jonah had instructed. He moved his feet into the ground trying to firm himself down. He moved stiffely trying to concentrate. Flame erupted between his hands and took a solidified for Fulgar cracked a smile and loosened up for just a second but it was enough to destroy his pathetic little flame.

"I did it for a second... but how would you do it? I cant remain firm forever when im doing it I have to move a little."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 28, 2006 10:47 pm

"You might have misunderstood. Keep your emotions firm, but bend like you would firebending. Being firm in movement is for earthbending."

Jonah moved in a cross-body motion, flattening the block of stone into a circular slab of rock, one that looked like the symbolized coin of the Earth Kingdom. What Jonah was trying to teach Fulgar was how to use his firebending to try and move himself, a common tactic that worked to Jonah's, and most earthbender's, success in combat. He then hopped on the coin, elevating it into the air and moving around with it just in front of Fulgar's view.

"Try something like this once you can solidify your flame, but keep your emotion firm. A firm emotion is the key to solid bending, examples being this, the airbender's air scooters, and the waterbender's ice. A condensed slab of fire would be helpful for firebenders to move around."

Jonah kept the stone coin in the air, focusing his bending on the stone to keep it level and airborn.

Ninavask sighed slightly as he looked around. He tapped his staff againstt he ground so he could get a good vibrations of the area.... but that didn't help. Truth be told... he was lost. He didn't even know what part of the mountain he was on. all he could tell is that there where walls... lots and lots of walls and people.

Fulgar stared in amazement at the prowess the earthbender displayed. His own power was nothing compared to the raw beauty and power of the earth. He looked at Jonah then at his own two hands. He closed his eyes and clenched his fists. He needed to do exactly as Jonah instructed. Keeping his emotions firm would be no easy task, but then like Fulgar likes to say nothing in life worth doing is easy.

He stood his ground feet planted and shoulder back in a proud form his arms were bent at approximity 90 degrees to the ground, the bottoms of his clenched fists raised to the ceiling of the dojo. He opened his eyes. A weary glazed look fog them over for a brief moment. He knew what he had to do but didnt know how.

His arm tightened the muscles in his forearms visibly bulged as did the veins in his wrists. In a quick moving fashion he created circular arches moving his feet he kept as calm and emotionless as possible. His feet created half circles around the loose dust of the dojo floor flame erupted around him. by now his hands and legs up to just past his knees were wreathed in flames they licked his oilskin trench coat. In the heat cold sweat dripped into his eyes the stinging stopped him very little keeping with his old fashion he created arches and gorgeous powerful movements trying to achieve what Jonah had described to him.

He took a deep calming breath exhaling fueled his fire ever the more. He got into his horse stance and took powerful steps forming and using all his power to firm the fire. Quick powerful strokes led to wonderful shapes of the fire moving his hands as Toku the waterbender had shown him he bent his fire with curving movements of the hands. The coat felt so hot on his body his shirt was soaked with the beads of sweat that dripped down his torso. Taking slow deep breathes he concentrated. Harder and harder it became to withhold the beautiful display.

His arms burned his feet ached. the very blood in his body seemed to burn with the intensity of the flame. Trying harder and harder his breath became shallow and he began to weeze. With one final stomp of his foot his fire burned its brightest then vanished. Fulgar stood there his shirt completely wet, his coat hung on his loose shoulders. and he collapsed onto his knees. grabbing his feet he sat legs crossed over one another. He breathed heavily as he took off the heavy coat.

"Jonah, did I do it?" Fulgar said hopeful that he had but somewhere in him he doubted the answer would be yes. He just unleashed a torrent of fire around him trying to keep his head clear. But he couldnt.

His eyelids drooped over his eyes he tried to force them open but he had to sit there with closed eyes he was tired, very tired. Everything hurt. Arms, legs, feet, hands, even the buds on his tongue hurt.

If he had to he would get up and try again. Until he collapses from exhaustion he would learn from his teacher.

(sorry didnt mean to carry it out so far...)

Linh stood, off to the side of Johan's currnet student and tried to acomplish what he told him to do. She was in a wide, strong hourse stance and any one could tell she was doing her best to concentrate. She didn't really get how she was soupsed to make her fire solid. To her it seemed that the solid form of fire would be an extentoin of it. Like earth is to sand but the other way around. But she still tried her hardest. She also did her best not to let her mind fill with ideas for new attack, she need to concentrate on her task.
