*As she walked down the hallway towards Aesculus' room she thought to herself* I should have gotten him something in return for the beautiful gift he got me much sooner then this. *she gently carried the gift towards his door* I probably shoulod have just put it in a box so it does not get damaged. *she sighed as she reached his door where she hands the gift outside his door and wedges a note in the doors frame*
Dear Aesculus,
Thank you for the wonderful gift you gave me. It was quite beautiful. I hope this lantern I found at the shop the others discovered. It's a small token of my appreciation.

'This means nothing. I bought this before the confusion, and now I am giving it to him.'
Over, and over, Filix reminded herself that.
...and over, and over, and over, without a pause. And she hadn't even reached the end of her own hall yet.
Filix made her way up the stairs, clutching the heavy package. It was as long as half her arm, and held more than one thing inside.
Aesculus's chambers weren't too far of a walk away, but they were near Equus. Filix's heart raced slightly, and she tried to understand why she felt guilty. Friends gave friends presents, right? She had given Pappila a present as well, how was this any different?
Feelings were odd things, Filix grumbled uner her breath as she finally reached the door to Aesculus's chambers.
She went to knock, but her hand froze. Filix sighed, dropped her hand and placed the gifts carefully on the floor in front of the door. He'd find them easily enough, and there was a note. One that she'd spent far too much time on...

Quote: Dear Aesculus. I wanted to thank you for what you said to Rosa. I know this seems highly strange and inappropriate, coming from her very own sister, but she must be talked down... and I thought that most were too charmed by her to see the faults I do. It's a great relief to see that at least one male of the court has the strength to see past her beauty, as if it did not exist in the first place. These gifts weren't a reward for that day in the library, I found them whilst following my kithain through Gaia, and thought of you. The first, an ivory dragon is antique and was found in a store, owned by a friend of Neith's. That reminds me! My kithain bought an old antique store. Many things are magical in that store, they produce children. I understand that a child is not something you might want, but there's no harm in looking through the items. Perhaps you'd like to visit my kithain's store to study the magical items? I'd gladly come with you, and show you what I've found. The other three things, three books, are some things I found very curious. The thick ones are entirely in Latin. I tried to read them beforehand, the most I can understand is that they are both to do with Celtic Fairylore and mythology. (They are both old though, I apologize for the stage of the covers and the yellowed pages.) The thin book is empty, and although you probably have a journal, there's always a use for empty pages. I hope we manage to meet up again soon, you can tell me what you've found in the books written in Latin? I'm curious to know what they say. ~Countess Filix.

September 22, 2004 Role-playing log from Page 1 to 3 from The Library Forum Thread.Synopsis: Aesculus wanders into the library to find Cervus and Pappila already there. Although he tries to avoid them (for fear Cervus will reprimand him for making himself sick) they spot him. Before he has to do anything, Pappila cries out, falls to the ground, and turns into a stunning teen. Alces has also entered by now. ^^; Aes and Filix start talking about Rosa, and the devil herself appears. When she (at least to Aes) starts to act condescending, he tries to pull rank on her and reprimand her, which only makes her even more "rude." Aes ends up leaving and then leaves Cervus a letter.

The door to Aesculus's room was wide open, and he sat inside at his desk. His window too was open to let in fresh air- his room had become relatively stuffy because of all the time he spent holed up in there. The sweet smell of tree saps and leaves was drifting through the window pleasantly, and the warmer air of the castle mixed with other homely smells wafed in through the door.
Sitting at his desk, Aesculus was making notes of his meeting with Filix in the library for future reference. The quill held elegantly in one hand, he made long, swift strokes as if writing itself was an art he had long been trying to practice and perfect. Every sentence or so he would pause to dab his quill and ponder a moment before continuing his longhand.

Ursa was making her way along that exact corrider towards Aesculus's room, trying to be quiet about it she tiptoed in the most unsual fashion, sliding a hand around the door and pushing her head forward for a look.
She noted Aes sitting comfortably at his desk, she wasen't the sort to interupt but she had to do something, as he paused, that was her chance, straightening upward and marching into the start of the doorway, she smiled and squeaked a sweet, "Hello!"

He blinked and turned his head slowly, as if hesitant to take his eyes off the page. When he saw who it was he smiled warmly and stood, brushing off his robes.
"My apologies.. I must have been absorbed in my writing. It is good to see you again Ursa... I see you have grown. I hope the growth was not too painful for you..?"

She grinned sheepishly and waved her hand forward, "No no Aesculus, I should be the one apologising, interupting like that, wasen't right of me..." she paused and gazed in, "growth was more of an interesting experience than something I could dub as painful..." she nodded, "may I ask what I interupted you from?"

"Oh... it is nothing. I am just writing in my journal, transcribing a few things. Do come in- I am afraid I do not have much furniture, but you may have my seat." He motions to the plush seat he had just rose from, a dark wood with a beautiful golden upholstery. On the back of the chair was the name "Cortex" engraved, the name of his father.
Other than his chair and desk, he only had a bookcase, and a bed with a chest at the end of it in which to place odds and ends not displayed on the bookcase and changes of clothing. His entire room was done in shades of amber and ebony, seeming to be in harmony with his hair and eyes, although it was so sparse that his spartan treatment of one of the biggest rooms in the castle seemed hardly fitting.

She wandered in and gazed around as she did as so, "Its wonderful in here...Oh no Aesculus, I don't need a seat, I'm perfectly fine as it is," she ushered him with her hands as to of sit back down.
She continued her gaze, "what sorts of books do you happen to own?" she asked slowly, still gawping at the room, "beautiful.." she whispered under her breath.

"Oh... most of my books are actually from my Kithain or left over from my father... my favorite happen to be a few tomes on psychology... it's a study of the mind and the way people think and act. It's simply fascinating. I find it gives me some insight on myself... but enough of myself... how are your faring? I hope you were not brought here by troubles?"
He doesn't sit down, despite her ushering. He is a gentleman, through and through, and it would simply be rude to sit and leave a lady standing- if she would insist on standing, so would he.

She smiles, "ah yes... That subject is interesting, but I stick to my herbalism," she winks proudly, "no, I have come to meet a friend once more, as I have not seen or heard from you in a long time..." she slips her hand in her pocket.
"Ah of course! And to give you...this.."

She slips the charm onto his desk.

"A gift? I do not think I have done anything to deserve such a beautiful gift..." He looks at it, running his fingers lightly over the textured surface. Really, this sudden burst of gifts was amazing to him... even Rosa had come here with civil intentions and bearing a gift. What had he done to deserve such generousity?

She smiled, "because it is only polite to return a gift once given," she smiled and recalled the plushie-bear and the wonderful note with a slight nod.

"Oh... of course... well then, thank you." He gently lifts the charm and places it on the bookcase, displaying it with Rosa's lava lamp, the little water feature from Alces, the dragon statue from Filix, and the bamboo shoots from Lilium. It was becoming quite a display.
"I apologize if I have been scarce. I have found myself trying to study as much as possible before I take on my full position... I want to be most prepared to be the advisor to the court."
