So how about that terrorist arrest last week?
What really bothers me is that the media is making it sound like the average Canadian was stupid enough to think that we are not vulnerable to such things. I was always thought that we could be the next possible target for something along those lines, and have always said that if something were to happen it would happen in 4 places. Toronto, as the largest city in Canada. Ottawa, being the capital. And Montreal and Vancouver being large port cities land, air, and sea. Really any large city is at risk anyways.
Three times there have been strange instances of unexplained and unidentified fumes released in Vancouver. Twice on city buses and once in a highrise building. Pranks, maybe, terrorists testing, maybe. It could be undesirable people testing out Vancouver's response system. Who knows, but it's the kind of thing you should always keep in the back of your mind.

Terrorism isn't a thing that I think about often. I'm not exactly one of those 'Oh it'll never happen here' people, but I'm not paranoid about it. I've even heard that it could be possible in Kitimat because we have Alcan and that kind of junk, but that's when I do have the 'no wai' mentality. xD

The one thing I did hear about the terrorist arrest was that most of the people were born in Canada or moved here as a child so what can you do about it anyway?

Happy Canada Day everybody!! heart heart
What are you all up to today? I'm going to be in the parade as mandatory volunteer for work. xd We pretty much made goodie bags to hand out to kids all week. We just have to walk and hand out candy today and the firehall is at the front of the parade line so we're at the food the fastest. xd I don't know about going to the fireworks in the evening or not 'cause I don't know where they are and I have no ride. D: I knooow it's a small town but I'm lazy at night. xp

Yeah government can bend the rules if they think it's absolutely necessary too. Like that time during the October Crisis when Trudeau was PM. He made some kind of war rule effective where police could arrest anybody suspicious and just keep 'em.

What could the French say? Trudeau was himself a French man, it wasn't some "Englishman" ...As if everyone else outside of Quebec is English. But they are stupid like that sometimes. My father's family insisted on calling my mother an English woman, despite the fact there isn't a drop of English blood in her. I hate the French Canadians.... and since I am one, I feel I can be prejudiced all I want

It was particularly rough for those women entering French-Canadian families - not that it was much better for them anywhere else. sad
