I don't used either. But I suppose that is because I'm neither...When people ask "what I am" I say "Elisha". I think that's the best way to explain it.
PS...My name is Elisha, in case any of you didn't get it... whee

[Kudzu] "Witch," though currently I use the term "Pagan." I won't call myself "Wiccan" until after I am Initiated. interesting - I won't call myself a witch until I am initiated... I like Pagan - or Earth Based..

There is a difference between a witch and a wiccan though. I am what you would call a witch, however I'm not a wiccan. I don not follow the religion, Wicca. To be honest, I don't really follow any religion at the moment.

Either term is fine by me. I tend to use the term Wiccan among people who are unfamiliar with the religion--and I use Witch around other Witches/Wiccans. ^_^

I will use Wiccan with people who don't know me, but I refer to myself as a witch most of the time.
The reasons have to do with patriarchy and unnatural balance and being heavilly into Goddess worship and intuitive practices.

I like Pagan - or Earth Based.. Well, British traditionalists don't consider someone Wiccan until they've been initiated into the Wiccan priesthood by a HP/S with a verifiable lineage. They don't argue the fact that a non-initiated person can be a witch, though.

I've heard somewhere that if you call yourself a Wiccan then you are thinking to highly of yourself but if other people call you it then its fine. But supposedly you are only supposed to call yourself a Witch. I read this in a book, I forget what its called.

As most others, I dislike being called a "witch" out in the public eye. When people call me a witch, they are implying that I curse people, own a black cat, and can ride a broom.
The fact is, I do curse people, but for good reason. Not out of spite, or anger, but out of neccessity. Those that I curse, have tried to kill me or hurt me in some way.
And I DO own a black cat. Her name is Brin. But I can't fly on a broom.
I don't like to be called a Wiccan either, because most people fear what they do not know, and most people do not know the Wiccan religion, so they assume that we are all witches who should burn in Hell.
Call me Scarlette, or call me nothing.

I think that being called a witch conjurs up old prejudices and s**t like that. Wiccan sounds more like a real, serious religion. I use both, depending on my mood, but i definitely prefer to be called Wiccan, too many bad memories of being called a 'witch' before I was even into wicca.
