"Hey! I was very sneaky. I never got caught!" Rhiyn protested, with a laugh. He frowned slightly then and nodded in understanding. "I know," he said. "I get scared every time you go up there."

"That's still cheating," Rhiyn insisted. "I don't know if I have any other secrets. That tunnelsnake fiasco when Ionan was four was not my fault," he said. "I don't know where he got the idea that a baby tunnelsnake might make a good pet and I certainly didn't tell him that he could tame it." Okay, so maybe he had encouraged Demanthra's younger brother to get into some mischief, but it wasn't his fault the younger boy had listened to him!
"I'm glad. I'll be very upset if you get hurt."

"No, it isn't, my family tells each other things. You just have to learn to be good around them. Somehow, I wouldn't be surprised if you and T'rel had some kind of doing with making Ionan think he could have a pet tunnelsnake,"she said, giving him a look. She looked up at the sky, thinking about how upset he might be, if something happened to her.

"Being good around them is no fun," Rhiyn protested, but his expression was playful. He grinned at the thought that he may have been involved with the tunnelsnake fiasco. "T'rel was more involved with that than I was," he admitted. "And besides, neither of us knew you couldn't tame one. It was an interesting experiment, till the tunnelsnake tried to eat him."

"How else are we supposed to learn?" Rhiyn teased. He shrugged at her. It'd been interesting until he'd realized someone was going to be hurt by it. He thought T'rel must have had the same mindset. He liked Ionan well enough that he hadn't wanted the younger boy eaten.

"There are plenty of ways to learn, other than pranking others, you know. And yes, maybe, but in safe ways that did not involve getting my siblings in near trouble. I am a good person, I hate hurting others, even by accident,"she reminded with a huff.

“Hey!” Rhiyn protested. “I’m a good person. I never meant to hurt anyone. And it didn’t hurt him, the tunnelsnake was gone before it could hurt anyone! And you know, T’rel’s a good person too.” He pouted. He wouldn’t hear anything against his friend, even if they’d been dimglows in childhood.
“Besides! I did plenty of not dangerous things too.”
