"What kind of combat do you do?" Kora asked Jade, intreged by the idea of her being a feirce fighter like Cloud probably was... "I am probably better at defense, I don't like hurting people physically." She chuckled, thinking about the boy who was going after Cloud. "I once made a boy think he saw the devil because he made Cloud bleed." Kora giggled.

Jade was taken aback a bit from Kora's explanation of her making someone see the devil. She had been around and seen a lot of different powers, but hers seemed really unique by the description. "Combat class is fine. We are still on basics. I'm more of a hand to hand combat person. Really offensive." Jade was smiling. She enjoyed competition, and fighting got her excited. "It also goes well with my power. Teacher says I'm one of the top of my class." She had a grin on her face, her purple eyes gleaming in the sun. "Maybe you all should come check it out. There are people of all fighting styles that go. No powers allowed right now, so everyone is kind of on even ground."

"That would probably be a good idea." Kora smiled, secretly wanting to watch others fight. "When is the next class?"

“The next class is in two days. The teacher is out on business.” The group of friends sat and talked for a good while, enjoying the weather and getting to know each other. The sun set in the distance, signaling that they should head back to their dorms.
A few days passed, frequent visits and meet ups with Cloud took place as if it were another class for everyone. The students seemed to finally be comfortable and in a sort of groove going about their day to day activities. It was mid-afternoon, the sun was at its highest peak of a warm spring day. Echo made her way to the garden, wondering if anyone was there. Even if no one else was, she enjoyed the peace and scenery as she studied.

Recap -
Homeroom teacher is Mrs Scarlet. Echo and Kora have this class together. Cloud took them there on the first day of school. She worries over cloud. Kora astral projects and lucid dreams. She cant control her powers well and had to run away from home. The nuns thought she was possessed. Echo is Mute and shy with an unknown power. These two are also roommates and plan to create their own sign language.
Cloud went to get breakfast and meets Trent. She gets bullied in the hall. A med student Dragon is introduced with a red arm band.
Herbal- ism teacher is Mr Datura. Cloud slips into his class and ends up speaking with Trent again. She eventually permanently joins this class and gets help from Trent. Trents ability is earth related.
Trent takes cloud to cafe she gets bullied. Kora scares bully away. Cloud shows everybody her wings ability.
Everyone visits the garden and Cloud asks if they are friends. They agree they are. Jade is introduced to the group. She controls electricity and shares candy with everybody. She is Trents best friend. They discuss combat class.

Kora entered the garden, seeing the top of Echo's head from behind a bush near where they all first met up. Kora decided to army crawl under the bush to sneak up on her, freezing for a moment, forgetting Echo couldn't hear the twig snap under her knee. She slowly reached forward and grabbed Echo's right arm before retreating into the bush, half heartedly trying to hide but knowing if Echo turned around she'd be found.

Echo jumped at the feeling of something grabbing her arm. She was startled, thinking that it might have been a bug or a leaf that brushed against her. She looked at the bush to find Kora half hidden inside of it. The startled and confused expression on her face turned into a smile as she pieced together what had taken place. Echo gestured for Kora to come out of the bush and sit next to her, putting her books away. She gave a curious look to Kora, the expression on her face asking if she knew where everyone else was.
Trent waited for Jade to show up in a cafe towards the edge of campus. They were supposed to meet up to study and talk about the next combat class. He sat in one of the corner booths near the back, staring out of the window into the sunset while drinking a hot chocolate. Each time the bell on the door rang, he turned his head to see if it was Jade. She was oddly late, something that rarely happened. Something must have come up, either staying late for class or forgetting about something she needed to take care of. He continued to sit patiently, sipping his drink as the sun set lower and lower.
Jade was stopped in the hallway leaving class. A few students had approached her, the looks on their face displaying unfriendly intentions. She tried to walk faster, recognizing a couple of them from fight class, but they managed to corner her in. "What do you want? I need to meet someone." She asked bluntly, the stick of a sucker hanging out of her mouth as her deep blue eyes stared piercingly at the group.

One placed his hand over her mouth gently.
"shhh" he said " not so loud"
The others had their pointer fingers over their own lips. He quickly removed his hand and put it in his pockets.
"word is you don't like Cloud" he said "We've got a bit of a plan if you want in"
The other boys showed off a flame in each of their hands.
"Whoever told you that was wrong. I have nothing against Cloud." Jade said defensively, noticing the boys with flames in their hands. She looked back at the main student talking.
"I suggest you bring more backup than that if you're trying to scare me. You won't win this fight with a pathetic flame like that."
She gestured to the boys.
"nothing against her!" he said "how's that even possible? Everyone hates her and she puts your friend in danger. I've heard you say it"
the other two extinguished their flames.
"the fire isn't meant for you"
"What you heard was a misunderstanding. And no one has given me a reason as to why you all hate her."
Jade was trying to remain calm and keep her voice down to not make a scene, but frustration was building from this conversation.
"As far as my friend goes, he can take care of himself. But if you think for a second about doing anything to him, or to Cloud, you'll have to answer to me." Jade responded bluntly, as usual. She tried to push her way through the group of students to start making her way to the cafe. A couple of them tried to continue to block her way.
"let her go" the lead said "we can find someone else"
The group wondered away dispersing into the nearest crowd.

Jade made it to the café almost an hour later than she wanted. The encounter with the group of students delayed her, and she had to take a minute to clear her head. She tended to do things on impulse when she was angry, so she had to calm herself down. She walked into the café, immediately spotting Trent at the table. “I’m sorry I’m late.” She apologized as she sat, dropping her books on the table.
“Is everything alright?” Trent asked, clearly concerned. He could tell when she was upset. She wouldn’t make eye contact with anyone, and her eyes would be their normal hazel color. She wouldn’t be craving a sucker.
“Fine.” She replied simply. There was a short pause as she looked up at Trent. She could tell that he knew it was a lie by the look on his face. “Has….has anyone approached you about Cloud? Or threatened you? Anything like that?”
“No. Why? Did something happen to her?”
“No. Some students cornered me, asking me if I didn’t like her. Seemed like they wanted to do something to her. They mentioned how she puts you in danger or something. I guess they overheard me a while back before I knew her.” She was staring down at the table, still clearly frustrated. She was gripping her pen tightly, as if she were trying to write but couldn’t get her hand to move. “Pisses me off.”
“We should go tell her. Now. Who knows what they’ll try and do to her.” Trent was getting a little worked up himself. He was already putting his study materials up. Jade nodded in agreement, knowing she would be unable to focus on anything else. They made their way to the garden in hopes of finding her there.

Kora looked around and shrugged. She reached into her bag and pulled out a pen and paper. "I haven't seen the others today, yet." She handed the paper to Echo. "Teach me some sign?" She scribbled on another piece of paper.

Kora and Echo were interrupted when a large group began traipsing through the garden. They were wrecking the plants as they ignored the paths and plucked things needlessly from the ground.
"She's not here but these two are" said one intruder as they stopped in front of their feet.
He was joined by two more boys. They were older than Kora and Echo, college students like Cloud.
"You two are friends with that monster" one said spitefully.
He kicked some dirt toward them.
The other smiled deviously and yanked Echo up to her feet. He tossed her into the middle of a bigger group. They laughed at her inability to speak and pushed her around.
"We'll teach you a lesson"
The rest of the group surrounded Kora and proceeded to shove her around too. They used their powers to threaten to burn them. Their belongings were chucked up into the tree.
When they felt they had inflicted enough terror they stopped and pushed them toward the entrance to the garden.
"Now why don't you go run now" he sneered "Maybe find that friend of yours. Tell her what I've done"
They all laughed and turned back into the garden to continue damaging the place.

"Okay..." Kora replied, eyeing Echo then their bags as if to say "get our stuff" because she was closer. "...but first I need you to tell you and your jerk friend's something."
"What does little princess have to say to the big bad wolf?" The bully asked, leaning over Kora.
Kora placed a hand on his chest and whispered, "I'm the big bad wolf."
The bully's eyes glazed over as he started to scream and fell backwards.
With that Kora waved quickly at Echo as if to say "let's go!" before running through the broken path the bullies had created.

Echo tried her best to fight off being pushed around. She wished she were stronger so the bullies wouldn’t be able to hurt her so easily. She wanted to scream or tell them to stop, but knew she couldn’t. Not while Kora, or any of her friends, were around. The bullies finally pushed Echo and Kora towards the entrance. She saw Kora whisper something to one of them, and he started to scream. She wasn’t sure what was going on, but saw Kora motioning her to run. She did, but stopped after a few steps. She picked up a decent sized rock and looked back at them, the others trying to calm the one that was still screaming. Echo hurled the rock at the group as hard as she could, hitting one of them in the head and catching his attention. She stuck her tongue out before running off again to catch up with Kora.
The sun was beginning to lower as it grew later in the day. Trent and Jade arrived at the garden to find it completely trashed. No one was there. The flowers were ruined, picked and stomped on, beyond saving. Some of the bushes had been burned. Everything was ruined. Trent walked around slowly; his mouth open in disbelief. Jade walked over to the large tree and noticed some of Kora’s and Echo’s belongings stuck in the tall branches. She motioned for Trent to come over, pointing at the tree. Jade couldn’t even put words together in her head, feeling senses of anger and guilt, hoping her friends were alright.

Cloud had been busy helping Dragon with a favor in the infirmary. She was on her way out when there was a bit of a commotion. There were students running around with a paper and it was being passed along the groups standing around.
When she got her hands on one it read come see the monster. It had a map to the garden and a time on it.
Cloud dropped it to the ground and started dashing toward the garden. The pathways there were already beginning to fill with curious people. She felt a tug at her shirt and turned around to see Echo and Kora.
"Do you know what is going on?" She asked gently
Kora and Echo didn't answer right away.
"Are you two alright?" she asked starting to feel worried
"We got pushed around a little" Kora finally admitted "They let us go to come find you. Cloud they were trashing the place"
Clouds eyes darkened a little.
"Do you know anything about this monster business?" she asked
They both shook their heads.
Cloud looked toward the garden and then bolted towards it as fast as she could. It did not matter what was in her way. She shoved people aside. In the direction she was going a column of smoke could be seen rising into the air.
"You don't think" Kora spoke but did not finish her sentence
She took Echo's hand so they wouldn't get separated and ran toward the garden too.
When Cloud reached the entrance to the garden. She found Trent and Jade standing there looking dirty and disheveled. She pulled them both gently away from there and stared into the growing wall of reds and oranges.
A huge crowd was standing around with no idea what to do. Cloud looked at them and then back again at the door. She took a step forward her heart breaking. A large explosion occurred shaking the area and then several more.The heat increased and the crowd stepped further back.
A burning man emerged from the flames with a great grin of delight across his face. He laughed and the flames around him disappeared.
"Cloud" he said "Seems there's been an accident"
He stood there as if waiting Every one else didn't dare to breathe.
"Whats the matter monster?" he lifted his chin high "Its time every one saw you"
Cloud just stared back at him with a blank expression. Her whole body began to tremble starting in her legs. She took a ragged breath and a tear slipped down her cheek.
"Why?" she whispered to him
She dropped to the ground and then looked up at him. The tears had become a flood. Her chest was tight, making it difficult to breath. Her thoughts raced but there weren't any words for the feelings she had. She took a deep breath and then to everyone's horror she began to wail. It was a sound so sad it deafened the roaring flames. It killed and swallowed everyone's happiness.

Echo looked around, confused at what was taking place. It seemed like the entire campus was there to see what was happening. She wanted to go over to Cloud, but the flames were too intense. It was already hard to breathe standing as close as they were. She felt a hand on her shoulder. It was Jade, pulling her further away from the flames and walking in front of her. She backed up, watching as Jade approached the scorching figure, Trent following behind. They suddenly stopped when Cloud began to wail, forcing everyone to cover their ears and retreat. A wave of emotions swelled over everyone in the area, and then a feeling of emptiness soon after. Sudden despair, sadness, and desperation overcame everyone around. Echo stayed, sitting on the ground curled in a ball clutching her knees, shaking uncontrollably and stunned. Tears started rapidly streaming down her face, she tried to do everything to control herself and not make a sound.
“Jade! Get Echo and Kora!” Trent called, hoping she could hear him. He looked up and saw she was way ahead of him, heading towards the girls. He did his best to hurry towards Cloud, kneeling next her and trying to snap her out of it. His body felt heavy, overcome with sadness and anxiety, it took everything to keep focused on helping Cloud. He put his hand on her shoulder and tried to make her stop, not noticing that the man was staring down at him with a sadistic grin on his face.
