She felt Pyrrha gently squeeze her hand before she felt something in her ear which felt really odd before the doctor checked the other ear, the same way. That felt really strange, and how would you check my throat? Can't really take it out, she said wryly. The doctor chuckled before he held up a tongue depressor.With this. They're sometimes used as popsicle sticks, he commented wryly. Popsicle? What's that? she said with confusion. The doctor faked an aghast look before he told her to open her mouth and 'say ah'. She did so and gagged slightly when he held her tongue down to look at her tonsils before he retreated, taking more notes. I'm rather surprised you don't know what a popsicle is.. frozen and flavored water? Hmmm, Miss Ryder, make sure she tries a few, doctor's orders, the doctor said, noticing Mairi's blank look. He's odd, but... funny, she said shyly as the doctor left after bidding them farewell.

That was odd... and a bit uncomfortable, but... you helped me through it, Mama, she said shyly. She was pretty certain that had her mother not distracted her after the next to last shot where her chakra had reacted and almost lashed out, she had the feeling something else might have happened... something highly dangerous. What room is Lucas in? she said shyly, though she was distracted by a rather loud grumbling before she blushed, realizing she was quite hungry.

She found this woman's bored look extremely annoying, though her eyes narrowed as the woman blew a bubble from her gum, looking even more bored. And her? Our mother, she said dryly, her tone like a frozen tundra. Doesn't look like you or the brat, was this particular receptionist's observation. Mairi didn't find that insult very impressive. My brother's not a brat, but then, you try dealing with a broken femur and not cry like a b@#ch, she said with annoyance.

I remember which room the doctor mentioned before, we don't need her help. Hell, I've seen rocks more helpful than her when they hit idiots in the head, she said icily, her tone dismissive. Hey, you need to... you need to remember that the money that customers pay goes in the pocket of those who work here. You keep showing customers that level of interest in their needs, there's a good chance you won't be working here much longer, she said dryly, her tone just as bored as the woman's had been before, ignoring the woman's raised voice. She turned away, her deep amethyst eyes almost glowing as she walked, having noticed the sign that showed where the elevators were. She could feel her chakra rushing just beneath her skin as if threatening to lash out. She glanced down at her hand and wrist, which was wreathed in pale bluish energy that manifested much like flames.

Mairi exhaled as she clenched her hand, the aura of energy snuffing out with a sharp crackling sound like that of a stun gun. I'm just annoyed when people dismiss others, especially when they are in a position to help them. My mother had a friend.... before she got married... that was a very skilled doctor... I remember her babysitting me sometimes... though I can't remember her name now, she said softly, her tone sad as she touched her right temple near the bandage on her forehead. If she doesn't want the help, she shouldn't bother asking, the receptionist snapped, looking embarrassed which was far better, if not by much, than the apathy she'd been showing. Mairi grimaced, though she had the strong feeling that her father hadn't just abused her and Lucas, but her mother as well, though it hadn't been intimately, she hoped, like herself. She shivered, not realizing that tears were trickling down her face as she hugged herself.
