Desher watched his mate and the other healers work on the little cubs. How long had they been out there?, he wondered. He quietly counted them as each rescuer deposited a water-logged bundle onto the sand. Five. Five tiny cubs from the ocean. Of course he knew cubs didn't come from the ocean, but it certainly looked that way. He wanted to roll his eyes at the rumors starting to spread among the other members. However, he said nothing as he knew his ways were not his new pride's. He eyed the cubs; their markings did resemble the ocean.
How had they gotten into the situation they'd been found in? That was the biggest mystery. One he doubted they'd ever find the answers to. At least they were safe and in good paws now. Desher watched as the cubs were escorted to quiet den to rest. "Good rescue," he murmured to Ram as the lion walked by looking for someone. "What to do now?" The tan male asked his mate.
Eade watched sadly as the cubs were taken away. He felt responsible for the little male he'd rescued, but he needed the healers now. The male smiled at Lani, "thanks for your help." He blushed as the king thanked each rescuer. "I only did what needed to be done." They were lucky that four had answered the call! What would have happened if one of them hesitated? Eade didn't want to think about it!
He turned back to Desher and Lani. "So what now? Mind if I join you?" He glanced down and grinned as two of the cubs he'd been playing with returned to him. "Nothing a little love and time on sure won't cure." He reassured the cubs. "Maybe they'll play with you when they are feeling better."
Yang squirmed and wiggled until he was able to free himself from his father and race to join up with Ade again. "Woah! You totally saved that cub Eade! You were awesome!" He danced in place with excitement. This was wicked cool!

Kari's offer of help seemed unnecessary by the time they arrived on the scene and could begin to piece together what had happened. "Apparently so," he replied to Udayi, turning to glance at her, both brows raised. "That cannot be the case, however. The cubs must have parents somewhere close by. Or perhaps..." perhaps lost to the ocean. The sea was a beauty but she was also dangerous and it always did well to remember that.
Still, even level-headed Kari had to admit that the cubs appearance bordered on mysterious. No parents in sight and their fur dappled like the sea. If their arrival here was never fully explained they would certainly be lions and lionesses of legend.
He loved a good story.
"I think we just caught the tail-end of a future legend," he replied warmly.

Dagr gave a shrug, "just takes a little practise is all. I reckon a few more tries and I'll get the hang of it again." His eyes swept briefly over the nearby lions as if looking for his brother to challenge him just like when they were cubs. Kari, however, was down by the shore and nowhere in sight.
Why did he have the sneaking suspicion that something was going on?
"I think," he continued, turning an ear towards the densest part of the crowd, "we might have just missed something important." He caught the words of a prophecy then and turned to glance down towards the shore. "I bet this spells trouble."

"We check them." Desher's mate replied. Of course make sure each of them was okay and get breath to their tiny lungs in needed. Each one was safe now. If anything else were to spring up there were plenty of paws to come to the rescue. Cubs though. It was strange that she was hearing nothing about any parents. Was it possible that the ocean they had come to live by had taken these darling cub's parents and dragged them away? She had heard stories about the water beyond, not only from others here but things she remembered from being a young cub.
As Eade spoke she smiled. "I don't mind. I am sure Desher wouldn't mind either. Meet Fionnan, a new friend of mine." As she said this, the coal colored Raven that sat upon her back puffed his little feathers before shaking out. "Nice to meet you. I am Fionnan, you call me Fio. All of you. So many formalities with such a long name." Dipping slightly into a bow. "You were very courageous. I did not see everything but glad to see cubs are safe."
Adetokunbo was so in awe with everything. He was even somewhat careful as he peeked around the adults but kept his distance. At least glad that he had a friend near him. It was pretty cool to see all the adults doing some amazing things to save water colored cubs. Maybe they'd be friends... when all this cooled down.
Note: {{ Harmonia and Kei's gift is singing the couple a song.. So I'll write a song in my next post. Probably tomorrow. }}
Tsukouru nudged Izzy along. They stayed mostly in the back but she knew that her children would be performing. Not all of them, but two. A soft smile came over her as she saw Kei head to the front. He rarely sung and with her band of children singer and dancers, he led with his head held high. "You know... I'm happy the line is restored, I heard so much about the old days of the Bahari, now it somehow seems, like a wound has healed." Izzy's face was soft when she looked upon the royal wedding.
Tsukouru's sheer size helped to hide Izzy trailing beside him and planted themselves with the cubs of the pride. Tsu could hear his name being called by them, he sweetly smiled. To him, being a nanny was the best job he could ever do. Weaving stories of his past, and painting them pictures of the greatest things out there without them leaving the safety of the pride..
Izzy watched the festivities with a warmness.
Harmonia was joyful as always, with a smile painted from ear to ear at the wedding. "They look beautiful~ it's like a fairytale~ Don't you agree Kei!?"
"Sure, sis." He huffed and bowed his head once they were seen. A duet, they decided to do since their other siblings weren't there to make it to practices. "When it dies down, we can sing til the last leave." Waiting for the signal of the closing of the ceremony before they begin their duet.
"I wonder if my boyfriend is here... I don't see him."
Kei sighed, "Can you focus on watching out for the closing signal so we can start the song at the right time? Whether your boyfriend is here or not- we have a job to do, and this is our contribution, got it?"
"Got it bro.." Straightening her back and elegantly standing beside him... Awaiting their turn to perform.
They both took a deep breath.

Triton nodded a sage nod. "We have good healers here, they, they are very good they can heal many wounds." He frowned a little realising he sounded a bit robotic. The big pale lion cleared his throat and lowered his dark maned head to the pale females level. "I'm sorry, I think I may be a bit, awestruck." He smiled a silly bashful smile. He felt swept up in the moment and when she brushed against his shoulder he nudged her ear with his nose. "We will have to go to the dens. It has to be, something." He pauses for a moment "special, something special."
Nuzhah pops up beside the pale pink female and giggles. "I'v never seen my brother so flabbergasted before, I'm not sure if it's because of you or those Cubs." She smiles "I have just the thing! You guys go on down to the water I will fetch it for you!" She bounces off a little chocolate brown Sprite hopping up the beach with ease.
Triton watches his younger sister go and turns back to Sagasu "it's easiest to touch the sea from the rock pools." He takes a deep breath, absorbing the scent of the sea, he closes his eyes for the briefest moment, letting the salty air wash over him. "Come, I will lead the way." He rumbles his voice tougher now, he had found something he could do to help the Cubs that had come from the sea and it cleared his foggy mind.

The dark lioness lifted her head, her gentle eyes scanning the crowed. "Let's, let's go and see." Curiosity was always a problem for her, she felt it deep in her bones, she had to go and see to find out what had occurred. Maybe she was just nosey? Well that didn't matter, she was curious.
"Are you coming?" She smiles a sweet smile at her new friend. Her worries about being in the dense crowed lifting at the thought of a good gossip. Prophecy, a story, a tail, something a bard would sing? The possibilities were endless when prophecies were mentioned. "I bet the base will sing beautiful songs tonight." She sighed, she wished she could sing but she could do nothing but cattawaul.

The quartet was extremely pleased to see that all the cubs were safe and sound. The hare stayed close to Nelly in the scurry and Pili gazed around curiously looking towards the water soaked cubs hoping that they would be okay. It must have been frightening out there like that. Asker could see the worry in the young adults face and he gave her a nudge and a smile. "Don't worry, they're all in safe paws." He said to her and Nelly nodded her head in agreement. "Yes, the healers of the pride are wonderful. There isn't anyone better for them."
Pili was relieved to know they would be alright in the end. Still, it must be troubling.
Her attention was stolen away by some lions who had decided to start singing and with it her gaze fell upon a familiar face or two. Her nanny from when she was younger! Well, one of them anyway. With a broad smile, worry now washed away, she bounded over towards Tsu and Izzy.
"IZZY! TSU!" She said with exuberance as she ran up to them.

"Pili!" Izzy whispered aloud and came up to meet her in mid nudge. "My how you've grown!" The huskier lion spoke up. "Not too old for stories I hope, hm?"
Izzy pushed Tsu and looked Pili over. "Are you ok? You look nervous, come, sit with us." Giving her a soft reassure 'shuu'. "How is everything?"
Tsu added in, "Any male friends~ you know~ you have to teach them when their young~" "Tsu~!" "I was joking!"
Izzy heavily sighed. "You have all the time in the world for that, enjoy your young as much as you can, there isn't a better time than the now. There isn't any hurry. Remember that." Nodding and smiling softly. "Oh look! Their starting~ hush Tsu-!"

She liked that she had an effect on him but it was impossible to deny he was having one on hers, as well.
"To the dens...? On our first date? My, aren't you bold, Triton." Sagasu said, coyly, letting the pale lion's name roll on her tongue for the first time as she followed the brown lioness' instructions. "Thankfully, I have Nuhzah to protect me. I think we'll be great friends." She didn't let him wonder about any change of opinion she might've had regarding him. "Rock pools? Lead the way."
It was at that point that the voices of of the singing lion and lioness rose in the air and reached her. She froze, one paw in the air and expression soft as she hummed quietly to the melody. It reminded her of home, when the pride was full and the voices of her Sisters filled the starry nights with beauty and wonder. When it was over, she looked sideways to Triton and smiled. "I think I might stay here for a while... in this pride, I mean. "

Desher nodded agreement with his mate. "One of the heros of the hour is definitely welcome to travel with us lowly members." He grinned to show the last was meant as a joke. "Let's go see what the other booths have to offer. I could use some food after that excitement." As he headed back toward the booths, he paused when he heard the singing. It wasn't bad. He added his applause at the end of the song.
Eade nodded a greeting to the bird, "Hello Fionnan." He gave a second blush as the bird also complimented him. "It was nothing really. I saw the king dive into the water and call for help. So I just went." He really hadn't stopped to think about what he was doing. "That sounds like a fine idea to me. Ladies, after you." It wasn't long before they stopped again to listen to a duo singing a suitable song for the day. "Bravo!"
Yang was a bit more bold than his friend at the moment. "That was still totally awesome Eade! I mean even the king said so! So it's gotta be true." The adults were starting to talk adulty stuff and he began to loose attention. He glanced at Ade. "What should we go do now?"

The events had been dramatic, but brief, and the assistance of those within the pride both member and stranger alike had ensured that it had been handled swiftly. Normality soon returned, the pride once again reassured that things were safe and none were hurt. Soon the festivities could be heard and those who had paused upon the shore returned to their own games and conversations. One might have assumed that they had all forgotten what had even happened!
Such was the way of things when you felt safe...
Nevertheless, it was with a clearing of his throat that Ram murmured into his mate's ear and lay out his intentions. Only she would have heard what was uttered beneath the hustle and bustle of the shoreline, giving all those around the opportunity to enjoy the song provided by the pair of nearby pride members. It was even enough to make the blue lion smile in appreciation at the sentiment Kei and Harmonia had attempted to convey. Suffice to say that when they had finished, the King gave a small bow of his head to acknowledge it.
With the festivities in full swing, Ram permitted them to continue for quite some time and it was only when he had received word from the healers that their young visitors were recovering well and had found their paws again, that he finally stepped forward and cleared his throat. Enough of a signal for the closest lions to see him, and for this to ripple backwards towards the rest - they may not complete whatever they were doing immediately, but they would at least get the sense that he had started to speak.
...They could turn round if they so desired.
"You have my sincerest gratitude for celebrating with us today," he began and smiled towards those who happened to be listening. "You have welcomed Hima with open arms and I could not have asked any more of you; you have embraced those who visit us, and you have shown them what makes us so special," he took a breath and regarded those around him keenly before closing his eyes.
"However, while this event was intended to celebrate the union of my mate and I, we could not simply ignore the gift given to us by the sea," he glanced towards the dens briefly and smiled. "Suffice to say that on this occasion my mate and I have been upstaged," he remarked with a small chuckle. "But I think on this occasion it can be forgiven..."
"I know that there was some level of concern for our tiny visitors, and I can assure you at last that they have found their paws and they are now recovering well," he shook his head. "However they cannot remember where they came from, or how they came to be upon the log, as such... There is no way to identify where their parents might have come from," he tilted his head to the side, and then glanced briefly towards his mate.
"As such, my mate and I are in agreement," he hadn't actually asked for her approval so much as informed her of his intentions, but still...
"Our tiny visitors will fall directly under my protection, and Hima will embrace them as her own," he paused briefly. "Consequently they will be regarded as our children, and will be afforded the titles that come with it," he took a breath.
"So not only have you acquired a queen this day, it appears you've also been blessed with a tiny bundle of fluffy oceanic royalty as well!"
Another pause.
"It is for that reason that I implore you to afford them the same love and warmth you have shown to my mate, and to every visitor this day,. They will need you, as part of a much larger family than they may have ever thought possible...."

The hustle and bustle after the cubs had been taken away was the perfect cover for Ram to inform Hima of his decision. She had frowned at first, not liking the idea, but she knew to turn her nose up to these cubs would be to turn her nose up to the pride. She liked it here. She liked Ram. She was even starting to like the lions she had met within the pride. Surely she'd come to like these cubs as well.
The song made her a bit more open to the idea of being a mother as well. She had full intent on becoming one before today by more natural means, but who was to say they couldn't get a head start? She knew she still wanted a litter of her own, but these lost cubs would do for now.
Bobbing her head in thanks, she stood by Ram as he made the announcement. Hopefully an experienced mother wouldn't mind sharing her wisdom with her.

"Ooh, isn't that exciting?" she said with a grin, looking at the male with an excited expression. The thought that the cubs didn't have parents was a bit sad, but here she was, a fresh Bahari, and she got to witness an actual story taking place! When Ram stepped up to say that he and his mate would take the cubs in as their own she gave a soft 'aw' and leaned against Kari a bit.
"Isn't that so great? A legend indeed!"

Starfire was glad to hear that the cubs would be taken care of, but her attention had been caught by the two lions that had sung for the king and his mate. She was always drawn to those with natural talents like singing or dancing, and it seemed the two were quite gifted both in voice and in prose. Judging by their near-identical markings, she made the guess that they were siblings. Her thoughts drifted to her own brothers and sisters, a fond thought given to her identical twin and near-triplet brothers.
Once the song finished and the king said his piece, Starfire padded over to the two singers, a smile on her face.
"That was fantastic! You two are very talented," she said with a little swish of her tail. "I don't think I've seen Ram smile before today. You two did very well." She hadn't seen much of the king, but the stories she had been told always painted him as a serious figure that didn't much care for the Kizi parties.

"I'll never be too old for stories!" She said excitedly to him and looked over at Izzy as she looked her over. "I'm doing alright, it was just unnerving with those poor darlings!" She said talking about the cubs.
She looked over at Tsu when he asked her about any male friends and she shook her head. "No. I don't have any friends like that." She was fairly certain she knew what he was saying.
She grew quiet as the duo sang and allowed herself to lose herself to their song.
Asker, Vanellope and Nemmie turned their attention towards the pair as they began to sing and it seemed that their song was much needed. It seemed to draw the worry away from the events that had just happened and Nelly was quite glad for the sudden interruption.
All eyes and ears turned towards the king as he addressed everyone. By the end of his speech Pili couldn't help but cheer. That was so wonderful of them to take in the cubs like that!
Asker and Nelly exchanged glances and smiled warmly. As much as Nelly was afraid of Hima for what she did to her when she was younger she did have to say that was quite nice of her to do. Though she'd never trust the female. Nemmie, sensing Nelly's emotional change leaned against her bonded.

"Thank you," Ram uttered quietly as he turned his attention to his mate and pursed his lips together. He was aware that he had been rather forthright in his declaration but when it came to such a situation he was aware of how precarious it could be for such young children. He had been a father once before, albeit it to a very rebellious lioness, but it had opened his eyes to some things and he had come to appreciate that stability was one of the most vital aspects of a cub's upbringing.
"I am aware that you probably didn't appreciate the surprise but they needed something to hold on to," he added and hazarded a wry smile. No doubt Hima would have her own demands, she may grow to love them as her own or she may choose to raise them well but not necessarily bond with them. Regardless, they would have parents and in time, they would also have siblings - rest assured that he wasn't about to neglect his mate simply because five little sprogs had been deposited on their shore!
...Alas, how long it would be until they had those siblings remained to be seen.
"My only request is that you don't name them something utterly ridiculous," he added, his eyes wide as though she would deem to name them 'sparkles' or something equally appalling. "I may have to overrule you at that stage..."
